  1. Unless I read it wrong he can still destroy it all after 12 hour, just not all at once. After 12 he has to do it in the normal object window, one object at a time.
  2. The new PVE claim system does not seem any better to me. it's likely worse. I disagree with full island claims in any way for PVE. I disagree with landlords in any way for PVE.
  3. Yeah, this newest idea is just terrible. From a bad landlord arrangement to a bad landlord arrangement. This does not have to be so complex. Why not build anywhere (normal or lawless). Use the structure repair item they spoke of. Use that same structure repair item to create a no enemy build zone around it. No landlords, no one can delete your things and no one else can build in your area. The repair structure device prevents any enemy object placement within 75 meters and enemy repairs structures within 150 meters. Limit the number of repair structure devices you can drop to 4 or 5. They would work much like a claim flag. They work until you stop feeding it. When you stop feeding it, it and all your objects start a delete timer. Solved.
  4. The example here was my farm schooner it's not fast. I have a speed brig focused on weight. I have a heavy mobile base brig that's all crew cost to keep the cost down.
  5. Maps are the one thing in game I have not done. I didn't know you could level so fast by them. The first time around it took over a month. But I but no effort on leveling. I just burned a lot of time building, sailing looking for land, taming... Thanks,
  6. They may long-term, but short-term it defeats the whole purpose of adding islands. Unless that's the real reason for adding the islands.
  7. Better to keep the gates as they are and add some shorter ones.
  8. I have a ship with a full-time crew of 11. 9 on guns 2 on sail. As you level your ship you can drive the crew payment way down. There are also a few skills to drive down crew payments. I currently pay under 3 gold per day (24H) each. Currently killing a few Sotd will cover that. So, yes you can keep a full time crew cheaper than buying new crew, but you may need to grind your ship killing Sotd for an hour or two to get to that rate. The ship can completely support the crew with maybe 30 minutes a day hunting. Just set a resource box below and put your looted gold in it. You must also feed them. Drop a lauder below deck and stock it with just about anything. Crew on a unleveled ship will require somewhere around 1 gold every 2 hours. By the second day you could have that down to 1 gold every 9 hours. I have yet to lose a crew in any way other than the bug where they sometimes fly off to space when unseating them. Above you see someone lost a crew to a wolf. That I'm guessing that is because he was parked very close to shore and on a small boat.
  9. Please write a little lvl 50 in a few hours guide. Last time I didn't even try, I just played. It would be helpful this time around as I'd like to get my levels back fast.
  10. I suggest that this auto repair structure has a no build radius of 150m (or more) for all enemy repair structures and a 75m (or more) no build radius for all enemy foundations/objects. This will stop some of the pillar, sign, lock box and foundation griefing. Let us build our base/house/barn without someone else dropping objects at our doorstep, or building 4m away on top of us, or pillar spamming our back yard so we can't add a chicken coop/cannon platform. This would give us our own little build zone.
  11. I agree. At least on PVE remove the roll up option and have the climb option from all sides.
  12. I don't know if these people are incompetent or not. I get the feeling that this is a really small company that took on a big project, maybe a bigger bite than they can chew. It may just be that they don't have the manpower that they need and are trying to get by without hiring. After all that has happened, I'd bet they do release on time, on the 20th. But if not ready, the release will not have all the items on the list, or just not all working. They have to break this pattern. That last live stream looked to me like they were trying very hard to hide the tension. But I could be wrong.
  13. *Wakes up from my mini nap game and sees you on the ground... presses the button for the nurse*
  14. Well, in the big picture, the numbers, the reviews calling it the most bungled release in game history, the hacks, the bugs, the posts... I would be worried about my job if I was on that team.
  15. I hate that mini game. I think they discriminate against old people. I'm too damn slow to click that thing right.
  16. But then he said it was about the claim system. It would not surprise me after all the backlash if they were discussing characters. I did see on reddit a few database admin going on about how to save character data and migrate it back to the post wipe server. Who knows. But the backlash and the online numbers must be on their mind.
  17. Any code can be fixed, any code can be removed, added to or changed. I think that was a short way of saying a wipe saves them the time of doing it manually. In their official text it does not say they "need" to wipe, it says "we believe a wipe is the best course of action so that you can experience the update in a fresh environment, without being influenced by any of our legacy or deprecated code.". Manually removing the legacy code would likely be a long and difficult process. Any errors made during that process would then need to be revisited and corrected. Like it or not, in the end, a wipe will mean a better running game.
  18. If anything, have different servers for people that want that kind of game. I don't want to play on it. Have a normal and a hard mode server.
  19. You could always come to the forum and read the trolls post "IT"S EA" on every thread. Followed by some made up facts. If they comment things like we are trying to get these things working, it's possible. I wish we had some insight into what's going on. Given the state of the game, this forum and the player base, I don't understand why we don't have a daily post here by them.
  20. I agree with a lot of what you say but... I think most people do like the incoming changes. I do. Do you need to wipe a server to delete claims, change a map or change a decay timer to a destruction timer...? This is the part where people that know nothing about data on a server can reply Yes. I think some are upset over lost stuff, but more are upset over the character reset. Is it impossible to save even character levels through the changes? This is the part where people that know nothing about data on a server can reply Yes. I think people bring up the $30 just as a point of principle (they sold it/they paid for it/I didn't know changes would mean total loss), not really a point of the value of $30. I think there will be foundation spam after this. It depends on the new upkeep system. If it's too costly to foundation spam, it may be too costly to build bases, barns, homes. Some may spam and just let the timers run down just to re-spam. I think we will still have issues with over lapping just now without a flag. The guy next to me on a lawless dropped a ring of pillars around my house just so I can't expand. How much will the upkeep on 15 pillars cost compared to a 200 object house? I think we will have a new set of problems shortly after this update. They did say sometime about figuring out how to get these things working. Oh and I agree with everything you say about the gimme gimme generation, including all the things you held back.
  21. Yes, what is Early Access? And why the big fuss. Why do all the trolls replies to every rant of loss with it's EA? Why all the posts ranting of loss? Why do we have one fact-less or false facts post after another. It really comes down to what EA really is. I won't go through the entire list but I have been searching and found a few interesting dates. Some recent, some older. Anthem a new game out: Anthem Early access 2/15/19 thru 2/22/19. Early access 7 days. SWTOR an older game: Early access 12/13/2011 thru 12/20/2011. Early access 7 days. ESO Early access: Early access starts 3/30/14 for the following 5 days. Early access 5 days. Atlas: “ATLAS will be an Early Access title for approximately 2 years.” Early access 2 years. Atlas used the words Early Access for a development period historically called Beta. You see a peak of the historical use of the word EA above having a very different meaning. Early Access historically had a meaning of post beta, one week, first access for those who pre-ordered the game. While beta is pre-EA. Some developers are changing the meaning of the words as we know them. This is the source of all the trouble. Many players entered into an Early Access game expecting what they have grown to know the words to mean, including no additional resets. But really entered a game still very deep in development, including resets. I am a fan of this game and I hope it pulls through this. But the Atlas team could have avoided all of this by being more clear in their language, so people better knew what to expect.
  22. I would expect the flames to die down over the coming days. The issues has largely divided the player base between play styles. And turned fanbois into cynics. Anger will turn to reflection and then to silence. I would suggest to the devs, that they make clear statements going forward to not lead to this again. As in no future wipes or expect more, and when.
  23. Yes, that's what Jat said. But something tells me they may be at least talking about options now with all the backlash. As of now they less than 3800 people online.
  24. Please name the MMO that had a character wipe outside of a defined beta test window without a beta start and stop date, that it was not clear that all data would be wiped at the end of that test window. Or an MMO that did a character wipe after people paid to play. I can't recall any and I have been in many. It really comes down to words being redefined and given new meanings. For example the SWTOR development. They had alpha testing in house. Then early beta in house and late beta invites. Once beta was complete that whole server was taken offline, gone. Then it went to EA for if I recall correctly was 3 days, where all non-EA access player were blocked. Then retail release. From EA on the character data remained intact. If they called it beta and didn't sell it... nobody would have said a word. You only see all the salt on the forum because many people thought the one thing that would persist through the Altas development now that it was sold and in EA would be characters, and the massive amount of time many put into them.
  25. I do realize that the meaning of EA has changed from the meaning it had for years and now has a new meaning. The old meaning as used for many years did not mean beta. The new meaning as used by Atlas does mean beta. So, you are in a way completely correct.
