  1. games like this should have a win for players or a player. 6 months one player and or team declared winner - wipe and repeat. J
  2. is there still lawless as well as the new system and is lawless staying the same as it was ? J
  3. This post is so twee and feeble minded its painful.
  4. Its annoying as its so very simple .. all islands lawless - maximum claims per size of company 1- 5 man = 2 ------ 6 - 10 = 5 ------- 11- 20 = 10 -------- 21- 35 = 15 ------- 35 - 50 = 20 -------- upwards of 50 = 25 claims - each claim is by planting a foundation, this stipulates a radius within which to build and no one else can build within. Building decay over 7 days once timed out demolishable. Foundation claims can be bought and sold. (see below for why.) Each island has a stipulated number of claims - if you want to own an island you need ALL the island claims. Additionally later (something along these lines) -- Building must include the ability to make a port this is the only flaggable claim that can be made (dockable unless banned from the owners land area) I would suggest the corp must own an island before it can build a port - only one port per island. port decay 3 months. Renting = hotel rooms - docking port space - bank vaults - shipyards (pay to use) - shop space - company owned npc's. All these things need a port. Bank vaults within which a player can put their gear and it will stay safe - the ability to rent a space on any island where they have them in their port. (this is all in regards to rental) - this means that you can use companies bank vaults wherever they have set up a port. Owners of ports have their own npc police which guard and protect and kill banned players (or get killed by banned players).

  6. Here here -- no landlords -- all like lawless - stipulated number of claims (by laying foundation) per island and buildings decay after set period. One or maybe two claims per player/corp per island. Players shops in freeports on pve - also global freeport escrow system, enter your goods into the escrow at an escrow house - player accepts contract goes to pick up goods. All done -- gameplay has everything you need. Only thing that may or should be rentable from a claim owner is docking space or a 'hotel'/'shop' or bank vault space. anchored ships if you have paid to dock have no decay.
  7. Claim and decay all islands lawless. Stipulated number of claims per island - only one/two claims per island per player/corp. One dock per claim. Nothing else will work imo. Also a world wide escrow system AT free ports which deems sailing to destinations to fulfil the escrow contract , so you set up a contract enter goods for sale or swap, player accepts escrow contract pays money and goes to escrow building to pick up goods or enter swappable goods - also player shops in freeports. J
  8. I don't understand what the issue is - its so simple its painful. Set a foundation and you have a space within which you can build. Each island has a set number of spaces that can have a foundation built upon them. Only buildings decay and over say 7 days. Animals die if you don't feed them obviously or go rogue after the seven days and their housing decays. One/two foundation per person per island. All ships anchored should have no decay, else you will need freeport banks so we can store our gear. Auto destruct upon decay of all buildings. Set a foundation and no-one else can build in your space. J
  9. I don't understand - you cant build on someone elses space man no ? Once they have placed a foundation then everywhere inside that 'zone' is only buildable by you no ? J
  10. Anchored ships should not decay - ONLY bases and buildings should decay if you don't log in. Animals should die if you don't feed them. J
  11. Ownership is by logging into the game . In lawless your 'claim ' decays over three days, I think this may be increased to 7 days and you claim is determined by the placement of your foundation. This is the only thing that is needed - period. you want land you have to log into the game to upkeep your claim - totally reasonable. J
  12. The PVE flag claim system was a joke. How can YOU own resources that everyone owns in them paying to play the game. This is an mmo NOT a sim like second life. War dec AND the ability to pirate the lawless ocean areas should be in the PVE. The flag claim system is not necessary and resource taxation is just a no go idea. Its really very simple. You build your foundation and that gives you a radius area that merely allows you to build infrastructure like in lawless. One foundation per island maybe, for anyone player and a set number of foundations and zones for foundations per island. Claims decay over time say 7 days, which means you have to log back into the game if you don't want your base demolishable etc. You want land ? Then you have to log in and upkeep your stake, its only fair. Most of the players with claims don't even log into the game, they just make their claim and log out its truly pathetic to be honest. The whining of the people on this forum when they and over time,WILL absolutely not log in every week. We also need freetown banks to hold our gear so if we log out and don't log in for a while, we don't lose our stuff. Aging of the chars is a joke in PVE. In PVP they should have a time span for conquest - each period say lasts a real time year and the winning corp is announced, perhaps wins a prize. Then the server is wiped and a new game starts. Let them do what they want basically. Prize money could be by asking for a corp entrance fee and winner takes all. PVE should entitle people to war dec imo, there should be an ability to pirate on the open ocean in lawless, perhaps with a marker against the character pirating, that stops them entering freetown ports but also makes them bountyable. IE other players can place a bounty on their heads. You will find that pirates set up their own companies and live on their own islands. Which of course they can protect as they will be in lawless zones. Player shops and trade is a must and with these additions to PVE you will finally have the foundation of a truly GREAT game and I haven't even started on underwater building etc. PVP - well let them do what they want I guess. (see above) J
  13. PVP with player shops but PVE solely vendors -- 100% determine that PVE should have player shops -- it really is a no brainer and without trade you have no PVE or player based economy, this was expressed eons ago in many posts and yet they deem no player shops in ports on PVE - wakey wakey atlas. J
  14. I was actually thinking the war dec and ocean lawless pirating was for the PVE servers and was excited as a result. My bad. J
  15. You haven't even tried it yet. Silly really. PVP is not PV(not logged in). Most of the moaners of the war dec system are just cowardly raid when not logged in anyway. J
  16. I never knew the kraken had been solod. J
  17. They will change this of course. But at the outset I think it makes sense. Of course they may at some stage put bp copies of submarines into the ship of the damned, this is how I see it. My gripe is that I still cant solo P v npc - it would be great to have a skill that allows players to auto fire canons and sails, so we can build and sail the galleons etc. We could then even take on the Kraken. I think they will bring this in as there Is a demand for it and the solo player market is predominantly older more mature players who can afford the monthly subs (excuse the pun) and it is a large market period. It would be foolish in a business sense not to at least contemplate the solo player market. Perhaps the skill is a purchaseable skill (in game gold), which gives something to work towards. With the underwater aspect to the game it has opened up pretty much, 1000's of times more potentiality to the growth and development of the game. I even saw a very large moon and those stars in the night sky, make me think cyber punk rocket ships, sorry I couldn't help it. J
  18. Agreed atlas not eve thank fook. So you think that war dec should mean that it is immediate ability to attack. The landowner THAT HAS BEEN DECD against, so that A - they can prepare and be online and B - their defensive force is ready, you cant see how this makes perfect sense ? If they are not online for 24 hours and miss the war dec against them, you will still be able to raid their island. However in the case of atlas its the ISLAND that goes into lawless build - if you have a claim on an island even though you are not the owner of the island - you can now build canons etc to protect your claim whether the land owner is there or not. The whole island is decd against INCLUDING all tenants, the tenants can now and during that time of war dec against the island, build defensive positions, including building canons etc. It makes perfect sense. J
  19. BUT you cant guarantee that that that settlement ahs any players in or on it with a server that has people from all over the world on it. This is why its being addressed because often bases and infrastructure is being attacked when there is no one online to defend it. YOU SEE ? War dec allows an in between from all out pvp which is problematical due to online cohesion and the demand for raiding and pvp. You can still I presume attack other players at sea at ANY TIME (the essential ingredient to determine pirating). The only people that will have a problem with the new system are the people that really just steal from other players not online - period. Ok tell me about pirating in Eve online -- I did it for 10 years. Do you go and attack a fooking star base ? NO - you attack players mining and or hauling gear - yeh ? Space is the ocean in eve online. That is how you do it. CORPS GO TO WAR. 99% of all players in eve aren't pirates -- they are corp members. The pirates so few in number are tiny little corps with maybe three or four players that attack ships and haulers in space whilst flying. THIS is pirating mate. Eve is crap in a way for pirating as every bloody entrance into the system is blobbed with corp players guarding their claim. So its a case of one way in and one or two ways out. This is much better for pirating as there are no restrictions in regards to escape. J
  20. But it is a game and you need RULES to play ANY game. PvP is player versus player mate. NOT player v offline player - this would be Pv? J
  21. Prove it fella - give me one pirate handbook or code or historical evidence, that says pirating includes raiding coastal towns and villages. Yes they probably did steal whilst mending their ships and hiding from nation naval fleets. They probably also raped women and stole children from such villages and coastal settlements, however they also lived in and even originated from such settlements and villages. The word pirate itself however was CREATED by the military and merchant traders but it was more readily merchant naval ships that encountered them AT SEA, due to their focus being on naval supply lines. Whole areas OF OCEAN were renowned for being prone to pirate attacks. The pirates again I stress - lived in the very villages and towns and settlements near to the coasts. Pirates rarely targeted pirates. PERIOD. J
  22. Correct totally - they can also still PIRATE on the open seas which is what pirates did. Land offensives = WAR ----- Raiding ships at sea === pirating. Period. PVP = PLAYER v PLAYER --- not ----- Player V building. I think that the moaners are just scaredy pussies, that fear PVP. They are just PTFOP (player thieves from offline player) gaymers. J
  23. The pirating I might presume should only be possible in ships at sea...! Land = war - pirates didn't do this. Sea = pirates - period. They must implement areas AT SEA that allow players to stalk hunt and kill other players (in pvp) and loot their stuff. They can have certain areas that must be crossed to get to specific ports or the such like that are lawless on pvp maps. These areas would show in red on the main map. Small companies can thereby benefit by raiding delivery ships etc - this means that if a corp wants to sell or move their gear/supplies they are going to have to go in fleets if they want to protect such gear/supplies. Of course such red map areas would be a lucrative addition to any region that a corp wants to own an island, the places where islands are nearer to such red zones, the more valuable possibly those islands would become. J If this is the case then its perfect.
  24. The solution - open seas is of course shoot on sight. War decs only for bases and base raids. This is far more realistic to how pirating worked in the day. Nations warred within the parameters of war decs and pirates raided the seas. No war dec you cant enter their zones simple (unless you are on their permission list (traders or alliance members) - like a starbase in eve you need permission to enter. This way you can GET somewhere in owning property IE they cant take your property FROM you once you have won it, other than by war dec. ALL bases and land owned either by companies or alliances are within the parameters of raidable upon acceptance or auto trigger(see below) wars. Basically bases and ships are indestructible from sea - and within the inaccessible zones - without being in a state of war. This makes the game far more tactical. No war dec can be made if there is already a war dec issued or they are in a war (perhaps). The state of the company's position in regards to being in a state of war or having a war declaration against them could be in some way visible in the UI under the company name. Search or click the company name to make the war dec - the company name appears in red they are at war - yellow there already a war dec against them - green is good to go. 1 - Wars are for a 12 hr period only (they offline when you online BUT you might accept a war dec when they are offline which allows you to kill them without them being online). Any declaration 'request' will last for no longer than 48 hours - no reply is a refusal (see below). 2 - War decs can be denied by the person being deccd against. 3 - War decs can be denied only 3 times and upon any deny/refusal/no reply to war dec. there must be a 48 hour period before any further war dec can be made. After the third refusal or denial the war declarer can attack the refusing opponents bases for and within a 12 hour period. 4 - If and upon acceptance of war dec the war will last for 12 hours from the MOMENT of acceptance or auto trigger by refusal. If and after this period no further war dec can be made against the same foe for a 7 day period. Something like this ^^ J Correct but the nations were and this usually occurred by war dec (see my post).
  25. actually you just dig for it with a shovel on any beach. I think they patched the preserving bags - but yeh a turnip would last like 1 minute max in a preserving bag. j
