  1. Not a fan of negating things compleatly. But having an interaction between placed items is always good as it alows differing options. I'd be in favour of a reduction of the speed penalty, or an increace in capacity, or an increace in weight reduction of the racks per weight sail.
  2. As another thought on this: Ship XP gain based on speed and flotsam level, you get ship XP for how well you can handle your ship.
  3. At low levels the XP gain for both ships and players seemed quite good and varied, but once you get to the higher levels ships especialy cargo ships level pretty slow. And as for characters, your only option is maps, maps and more maps, not saying it's boring (I like doing maps) but a bit of veriety on ways to level up would be nice.
  4. 2 on a galleon is about 13% or about 2 knots off full speed, definitely worth the trade off. saying that, I however would never put the full 6 on that's too much. I run 4 speed 2 weight sails and 2 cargo racks, and can run at 13 knots with 25k metal on board.
  5. Cargo saddles on boats are a no no currently. they work great on land and on an anchored ship, but there has been lots of reports of tames falling overboard / vanishing when fitted with a cargo harness at sea. i've taken to taking a few spare boxes with me and having a standard and a cargo saddle for my bear, and swap it out when sailing. (spare boxes because you need to destroy box on harness before removing it.)
  6. People seem to want more to do while sailing, but don't want to slow down / stop to collect flotsam, at least not for low level stuff. A ship attatchment with a net to catch flotsam on a boom arm 1-1/2 tiles long would be nice. You could even slow the boat for each piece caught, so you'll need to empty them every now and again. People could then sail along jigging side to side collecting flotsam, even the low level stuff will get picked up. And as a bunus more music sheets will get into the game, promoting that skill tree. (Image - not quite the intention, but looks and size are about right)
  7. A new tame and a new weapon again! When are we going to see new boats, new sails in this pirate themed game. I get that tames and weapons are important, but we've not had any new ships since the game was launched.
  8. I've had this happen twice, once on a tiny island where i got the small discovery as i sailed close, then when i jumped onto the island the discovery didn't register. other time was when i rode my bear off the boat got a discovery of a dock, then got off the bear to get island discovery again it did not register. I suspect getting 2 discoveries close together might be that issue. However for me, relogging on my boat and landing on the island again worked, had to relog twice for one to register though. a related issue, on a freeport i've bounced between islands useing the NPC's ferry service and done it fast enough that the discoveries registered but the banner and music failed to play.
  9. Got to try them on my hauler this weekend, (PVE). 4 speed sails 2 weight sails, +2 cargo racks (they are cheep to make so only fit them for return trip) Empty no racks traveled out at 19 knots Returned with 60% weight at 12 knots i think i'll use 2 more racks next time, expecting 9-10 knots. Now all I need is a purpose built loading dock, that took an age to unload.
  10. I love being a settler on our island, the landlord keeps the island free of spam, have not put any restrictions on our sprawling base and they have built a raised road network between all the mountains where 100's of metal, crystal, coal and salt nodes spawn. We might be paying the 20% tax, but thier work means we farm x2 or x3 faster. I love it.
  11. More uses for Crew would be very welcome, from gardening, feeding tames to base mainenance. Stone wall's around the base and wooden buildings within, is what we do (PVE of course).
  12. made grog for the first time this weekend, it worked but used up not just the jug with 200 water in it but also all the water in the barrel (over 3.5k water). Also with only 2 slots in the barrel you can only make 1 at a time, stack of saps and one jug / waterskin, is this correct?
  13. Reload speed while mounted has always been a lot slower, even before the carbine reload speed skills were added.
  14. Not useless, just situational. As it probably should be.
  15. That sounds interesting, may I add leaving doors and gates destructible. leading to points of weakness, needing defences, like real castles / fortifications.
  16. yep, they took away the ability to use water from containers in the grill when they added the ability to attatch water pipes. Rather anoying for grills on ships.
  17. 1 or 2 weight sails seems to be good if not using cargo crates. 2 or 3 cargo crates seems to be the ideal. Can you plug in these to your spreadsheet as combinations and if posible, at what weight you slow down to 50-60%
  18. maybe if they reverted the speed sail to what they were on release, same speed but crap angle of usability, people would start thinking more about choice of sail rather than just speed sail, speed sail, speed sail all the time.
  19. So having the one sail be the go to answer for every situation is a good idea?
  20. They had speed sails right when the game launched, same speed as now but way less effective angle, but lots of people whinned and we have what we have now.
  21. Please be aware not eveyone thinks sailing is to slow or boring. If I want to go someplace fast I can take my lightweight schooner. If I want to transport a huge quantity of goods I know it'll take time. I find sailing relaxing, interspersed with a few "oh! shit" moments, time to sit up and pay attention. Also at the moment speed sail bonuses don't work, so when thats fixed we will all be a little bit faster. more ship types however would be welcome, Streamlined versions of each with less weight but more speed. cargo versions of each with less speed but cargo containers don't slow it down. The options open for design are myriad, I've been a little dissapointed with ship choice so far, a sailing game where since the start you've added new weapons, islands, tames, skills, building pieces & content yet not one new ship!
  22. Did some breeding for the first time this weekend. started with bears. It will take a long time, but with a bit of observation and timing it can be relatively easy. For where we are based i experimented and observed that with 6 grills on all the time a baby bear does not get hot or cold thoughout the day & night. One stack of wood will power a grill for about 4 hours. One stack of potatoes will feed the baby for about 40 minutes. with all that information I can set a timer and do other stuff either in game or not, I also put up signs around the breeding pen as reminders of this information. This will not be the same for everyone but experiment see what you can make easier. (thinking of the meat eater breeding, has anyone tried putting ice into a feeding trough? - just thought that up, anyone in game to try?)
  23. And they raised weight sails to 4K for large, making cargo racks even less attractive.
