  1. No, they were trying to force co-opperative gameplay. They rightly asummed PVE players would work together, but forgot those who should be playing PVP but are too cowardly to do so would come to PVE and try and ruin it for everyone else.
  2. Had a similar issue a few months back on official. Can't remember if this is a fix or a work around: Log into a different server. (create new character if you need to) and log out again. Log back onto your server, I think you will only be able to come back at a freeport, die and re-spawn at your bed. Also raise a ticket. they were having battleeye problems at that time, I thought it was fixed, it was many weeks ago.
  3. Forb: you should try searching. took less than a minute to find this.
  4. Sorry, that made me laugh. I've had the same, but I just eat a pork pie and fish and chips, both always on my hotbar 8 & 9 and I complete the taming. Differing points of view: I don't want those Inconveniences, I see it the same as always carrying ammo, and repairing kit to avoid breakages, so i do some prep work first.
  5. Thats one way I differ from some people, I've always seen dieing as failing and will try my utmost to not let it happen, hell more than half of my company mates will just starve, dehydrate, or die of vitamin loss rather than take the mostly easy steps to avoid it, leaving me and others waiting on them to respawn, run back and collect and put on thier kit from their bodies. One of the reasons I think a death debuff would be a good thing, not something i'll push for as most people don't see surviving in a survival game to be an important factor.
  6. having a bit of Ark experience did admitedly help, getting water, however, was not on of them, as in Ark you spawn on a beach (mostly) and you can drink the sea water. I can't remember if it was in the new player help text or an accident that we discovered you could dig for water with your hands. We had however seen the big 'water' sign in the freeport pointing to the available water there.
  7. speaking from experience: - Within 3 hours of launch we had 4 rafts headed out in different directions to find a good island, plenty of other rafts on the seas at that time too. once out of the freeport lag and rubberbanding was greatly reduced, one of us found a good spot on a mostly empty island and we had a stone base and tames before the end of the day. (there was 5 of us) back then we all took different skill paths and covered all that was required, the only difference now is that we have more levels and can cover most skills individualy. Please note: we play PVE so a PVP experience may differ.
  8. Not sure about single player, but a lot of the new islands they placed on the official servers are not matched by it's map. If these are the islands they used for single player, it might be the reason why.
  9. Totaly wrong. Every island I have visited, has had no impediment to gathering resources and with crafting high end gear thats a lot of different resource types and a lot of islands visited, added to that all the islands i've gone to to find treasure. ( one or two bases that blocked a route or two, but nowhere that blocked a resource). Many times you find a sign post with a resource name on it. indicating a rich place for that resource. Our island for instance has all the metal, salt, crystal and coal on the tops of mountains only reachable by climbing pick or grapples. The island owner (not me) has built 3 widths wide with railings ramps and rediculously high bridges connecting all the resource rich areas so you can take your weight elephant or bear with cart up to these places. The more you can gather the more he gets as a bonus. I get that you can't see this yet, but please stop trying to insist something so obviously false to anyone who plays the game.
  10. I had a schooner vanish while i was away this weekend. Last wednesday I went on and lifted the anchor of each of my 3 ships knowing I would be away until monday. Luckely the schooner is the least costly to replace. The crew is now floating in the air and wont respond to whistles. will see what has become of them later when I log back on.
  11. Erm..... no sea claims!!! 1 claim per island, so no circling any one. You place claim, if you place it inland the yer, you wont be placing a shipyard. Did you intentionally misread everything, because everything you said would be impossible under that system.
  12. Complex but it could work. actually it would be kinda cool, instead of my "base claim" radius you had a certain number of connected hexes instead, you could shape your own area. But realistically I can't see them doing something like this, and you'll always get some prat that makes their base one huge line of hexes all along the coast. Thats one of the advantages of a circle, even almost touching you are far enough apart.
  13. I never put a size on the claim area, just large and medium, please state your idea of large so we can gauge some perspective on what will suit you. Ark never did have any restrictions on base size, so not sure what you mean by that. one claim can work if it's "large", I did mean large as in being able to build 20-30 foundations length out to sea and then place a shipyard. While hex's are great, they would need to be predetermined and you would end up with undesirable hexes and building right up against an edge as the rest is up a cliff etc. That was on purpose, it's a lot easier to use systems either already in the game, or have previously used, rather than create a whole new system. I try to keep my suggestions close to what I can see the dev's are already able to produce. I did play EVE about 10 years ago and enjoyed it, the high sec / low sec & whatever the periphery was called. (Played a high sec manufacturer buying BP's and, unobtainable for me, resources at the edges of safe space) but nowadays limiting PVE players to lesser content cant be done. With your system, with a shift in the balance of power someones PVE base, ships and tames can get wiped out, people won't accept this.
  14. Anti spam All ground placed structures not in your claim have a ~6h decay timer that cannot be reset. Personal / company claim flags 2 flag types, base (large area) & outpost (medium area) You can only place 1 flag per island. Claims cannot overlap. A claim area allows you to build within it and excludes others from building within it. Each flag and all structures within have a 10-day decay timer that can be extended up to 2 months by placing resources (metal, wood, thatch, fibre) in the flag. The flag will use up resources before the static 10-day timer. (The cost should be relatively high. This allows for people to prepare for being away from the game but gets used first to avoid abuse.) 10-day timer will be reset upon company member entering the area. Flag and claim area will show on the map. A solo player gets 1 claim flag. (outpost) A company of 1-2 gets 3 claim flags. (1 base, 2 outpost) A company of 3-5 gets 4 claim flags. (1 base, 3 outpost) Etc. Largest company would get something like 2 base flags & 8 outpost flags. Island claims Island claims will work like they do now, with a few exceptions. You cannot claim an island you don’t have a base flag on. Removing a base flag will declaim the island. (Owning an island and a base flag might seem too much but you get the exclusion part of the base flag too, so people can’t build temporary structures near your base and can’t overlap their claim.) (The number of base flags also has the effect of determining how many islands a company can own, which might move larger companies to larger islands.) Owner now has whole island to build on, fortifications, ramps to inaccessible heights, spawn signs etc. Island decay timer for owner is gold for flag and that time plus 10-days for structures. Anyone can place a base or outpost flag on a claimed island if the area does not include island owners’ structures. If a company places a base or outpost flag in an area that includes any island owners’ structures, the island owner will get a notification and will have 24 hours to accept or reject the placement. During this time the owner can see the outline of the claim area. Acceptance, or timer running out, auto destroys all owners’ structures within the flag claim area. Tax Can be kept as it is, however you now have recognizable levels of commitment to your island. You have Bases, true settlers that probably want the best for you and the island. You have outposts, people that see the value of your island but aren’t based there. And everyone else. The island owner could have up to three tax rates, with the maximums decreasing as the level of commitment to the island increases. I could see and be happy with bases 5%, outposts 10% and visitors at 20% tax rate (All numbers, times & percentages are best guesses, and will need to be tested and tweaked)
  15. If it's different parts that's the issue, something you could use to fill the gap would be same ship differing stats. A combat, exploration and cargo version of each of the ships would i'm sure be well received. And will give greater variation with less load when you do bring out new ship types.
  16. Thats not a very valid argument. The console Ark players will have a huge advantage over non-Ark players, you arn't arguing that. Plus there is a wiki, a map, I bet you already know which freeport you want to spawn in and which island you are going to head for. New non-Ark players on PC will not be able to compete with console Ex-Ark players. Unless you want to argue that not playing the game is a huge disadvantage about knowledge of the game .
  17. Well..... it was the last option....
  18. Three things spring to mind: Use spy glass to extend your whistle range. Build up until you are within spy glass whistle range. Build a glider, jump off a nearby mountain and whistle as you fly past.
  19. What people pay for the priveledge to spend 1k hours doing something they dislike!!! You are right, I too wish this mentality would die out. people should start doing things they enjoy.
  20. Don't fast travel when in a crouched position. When you come out the other end you will stutter around as you move and can't jump. mounting a tame or falling can sometime fix the stutter, fast traveling again always fixes it. (Found this when I had a bed at the front of a boat, but when I placed the cosmetic bow sprit, part of it was inside the boat and i could only see the fast travel option on the bed by crouching)
  21. That rubberbabding you are getting sounds similar to something i've come across, and it happens if you crouch and use a bed to fast travel. You judder as you move about and cannot jump, have not found a good fix yet but mounting a tame can sometimes fix it, or it goes away on its own, fast traveling again does fix it. Not related to this post but it might be what you are experiencing.
  22. I see large companies getting lots of small islands, staggering thier raid timers and still protecting as many ships as 1 or 2 larger islands. Solution: don't just give companies island points, also give them a band of what island point they can spend on an island, the larger they get the more islands they just can't claim. This will give all companies a decision when growing in size, wether to grow and have to move to a larger island.
  23. Zottel is on official, find different bears with 1 exagerated stat, bread them together, once you are at the best you can get from the wild, bread more for mutations. takes a LOT of time but doable. Our breading is small scale 1 breed a weekend, uo to lvl 53 with 3 good stats so far.
  24. You don't mention weight sails, do they at any point become better than speed sails when considering speed and weight?
