Ahoy Pathfinders! Our commitment to bringing new features to ATLAS continues. ATLAS is still in Early Access, and we’re only in the beginning stages of developing the renewed ATLAS journey. Many changes are incoming and a lot of work is being done behind the scenes. All of your feedback has been very helpful and we’re thankful you’re taking this voyage with us as we shape the ATLAS experience. Many of you have expressed that you wanted to hear more about our vision as we breathe new life into ATLAS. From the highest level, the main efforts are towards making the ocean fun and cleaning up the code. We are putting equal efforts into fixing bugs and rickety systems while we work on new things for you to do on the water. Apart from that, we feel that ATLAS suffers from a themeing problem. In some aspects, the game tries to be almost a simulation, but in others, there are dragons and hydras. Currently, this creates a bit of incongruence which we are working to solve. Unifying the theme is one of the broader arcs within the design team. For example, it's fair to say that we want to edge away from being a high fantasy, "WoW with ships". There are lots of great ideas we are playing with, but nothing that we are able to share at this point. As we get closer to defining our ideas, we’ll bring them out onto the deck for you guys. One of the bigger changes is a new, more optimized system for ships and new types of ships. This includes the mechanic of buying certain types of ships for gold. We’ve seen a lot of excitement and feedback around this topic, with many players hoping to find out more info about its current state. Unfortunately, that's all we can say right now. Please know there is a steady stream of content planned and we're half timing on that and half timing on fixing the bugs and cleaning up the code as we navigate towards a 1.0 release. A lot of these bigger changes are going to take some time to fully implement, and some of the changes happening now are setting the foundations for that gameplay. Think of them as building blocks. For example, although the Farmhouses are indeed a QoL update, it’s just the first step in a longer scheme for a new system. Now, we’re excited to announce the second step - Warehouses! Warehouses Warehouses will be coming to ATLAS next week! Connect Warehouses to Farmhouses to automatically store the resources you gather! How will this system continue to evolve? You’ll have to wait and see. Please note that Farmhouses and Warehouses are still in their first iteration. We will continue to develop and improve them as we look at gameplay and receive player feedback. We’re sure you have many questions on how the Warehouse itself will function as well. Leave us your questions in the comments section! We’ll be going more in-depth about Warehouses in the patch notes next week. In the meantime, we’d like to share some of the concept art for Warehouses below: Endgame Encounters & EXP We’ve received a lot of questions about the boss encounters continuing to reward EXP. After careful consideration, we will be leaving it “as is” for the remainder of Season 4. We appreciate the reports you all have been sending us. Through your feedback, we saw that the problems with the boss encounters were a priority issue that the community wanted addressed. In the process of introducing the fixes, we found that it is a deep rabbit hole of accumulated issues. Unfortunately, it is going to take us some time to fully sort it out. We are a small but dedicated team with big aspirations, and there is a balance that we want to strike when it comes to implementing new features while continuing to work on existing bugs and balance issues. At this time, we currently do not have the resources to properly approach boss encounters and the myriad of issues surrounding the current state of endgame content. We have therefore come to recognize that it would be better to leave the boss encounters as is while we focus on implementing the next steps of the new system we are currently rolling out. We’ll still continue to include other fixes and adjustments as we can, but we will have to apologize for where we have to leave the state of endgame for now. However, please know that adjustments will be made before the next season wipe. Please note, the zeroing out on some of the endgame exp is temporary. As an Early Access title, many things can and will continue to change during development - and your feedback is an integral part of our approach. We are very grateful for the reports and feedback we’ve received thus far and will continue to look to the community to help guide our actions and improve our processes. Thank you for not only helping us discover these issues, but for the insight you provide us as well. As our First Mate, the community, and the support and dedication we receive from you, means a lot to us. When the Brave Warriors entered the Cave they found dead Lions all over the Place and something else. A Gold-colored glow in the Dark lead them to a young Bear, barely bigger then a Cat, but Stronger then everything they have ever seen. Under huge effort and a nearly loss of one of our Brothers they captured it. Back then it was Young and small, now it matured and is ready to Fight. Can't log in through normal means (rejoin atlas), can go through by using join atlas online and choosing anyplace on the grid. This allows me to log in and starts me at my base no matter where I select on the map but, then I get logged in and cannot interact with anything at all. I cant even open my inventory on my character. After a few minutes it will kick me out with a battle eye error. What the heck is going on???? Can someone please fix this?? I mean come on, it is bad enough to go through all these wipes and have to start over now this to.

Make it so that you can attach the handcuffs to the wall hooks so that dungeons will be more aesthetic and you can have them sitting or hanging based of the hight so it could also be a crucifixion

To be quite frank, is rather have new workstations with these abilities and new building components, then build my own structures (ships and land based) with the workstations to create my own layouts. I enjoy building just as much as seafaring and questing.

It would be kinda cool if it was a liveable space. There are many buildings that we have access to but can't "use". If we could have the warehouse be "liveable" with snap points for the different crafting benches and slight customizations like ships, company island foot prints may become much smaller (Almost like a one stop shop) with one of each farm per grid or something to that affect? You could even reward players by boosting the efficiency of the farm if the use the small foot print. Customisation would be required though so it doesn't look quite as spammy. Perhaps have different base models per biome theme?

Being able to tell your crew to dock your boat would be very huge

I'm not here to complain that I don't get to own a boat. I honestly view it as a waste of time as someone that plays alone and I generally have a lot more fun pvping on land, but I did read the latest Dev Q&A and there was a part that suggested that developers want to focus on content in the ocean and encourage sailing. This just came off as something very strange to me given the current pvp environment that has manifested in the ocean of this game. As a casual solo pvp player I avoid the water as much as possible. I personally find my fix of PVP on the land starting gun fights with others or raiding bases. I know that top companies are always patrolling the water around their controlled tiles looking for their fix of ship PVP. All of these companies are constantly working with quality planks and cannons. People just starting the game or people like me that enjoy playing in small groups or alone are severely disadvantaged and the risk of losing time to an unwinnable inescapable ship fight are always too high. People quickly learn without being in a decent company with owned land that building boats is often a chore not worth the effort and learn to focus their effort on land. I personally feel pressured to avoid crossing water with anything of high value and view any boats I build as an extremely temporary highly volatile way of transporting items. Well, either way I don't care. I just thought it was a bit ironic that the the devs want to encourage more ocean focused content given the extreme volatility and highest potential loss of time investment the ocean of this game represents at the moment. I wanted to provide some insight of the mindset players like myself may have of the ocean and sailing.

The idea of the system is not bad, after all getting scurvy was a real concern for pirates. Just like running out of cannonballs or not having backup picks for getting emergency supplies , you have to be prepared. But killing you because you ate too many berries or you did not shovel needlessly that day is dumb, as is rewarding you for eating poop with a vitamin balanced body. There should be a very long time constant on the diet balance, IRL scurvy takes six weeks to set in and months to kill off your crew. Since each game day is an hour making that time constant a real life day would represent weeks in game and be more realistic. And like the real life disease it should just fatigue you as the warning that you need to eat some berries. And the daily balanced diet for 5 fish filets, 5 steaks, and 25 handfuls of berries and 25 servings of veggies needs to be divided by 5 to be realistic. So do both of those things reducing the dietary intake and increasing the diet time constant then the only game impact it will have is if you get caught unprepared, otherwise like keeping your pick sharp it becomes a minimal maintenance that is not even remotely a chore.

Maybe it was like a garbage mechanic to begin with. It's been nothing but a thorn since day 1, just like eating a handful of berries will give you... Toxic vitamin C poisoning and kill you? Another shit mechanic, nope see if you eat too much vitamin C, ur piss is just gonna be yellow and you might get the runs. But not in ATLAS, that shit will fucking murder you dead, 10/10 game mechanic. Players will always game the system. What incentive is there to maintain a diet? There isnt any, so why not kill yourself and respawn? There isnt any penalty for that, 100% easier than maintaining a stupid diet.

What is this food you speak of? Poop is wonderful! It restores my vitamins, fills my food bar and fills my water too. Its the best thing!

I think the fundamental problem is that this game is trying to be a PVE game and a PVP game at the same time. The two worlds don't mix well. Most PVE MMO's that add PVP nerf nearly every aspect of PVE power when it relates to other players, this one doesn't. So a company that does tons of PVE has a stupid advantage over smaller companies or solo's that don't do as much. Not only that, the stronger companies control the gates to the PVE. Want to farm SOD in powerstone grids for ship upgrades? Want to do Hydra? Expect big companies patrolling there that already did that content in decked-out ships to pounce and stop you from doing it. I personally think the game would be better if all the stats gained from BP's, both player worn/used and ship, only applied to PVE content. So a stronger cannon kills Hydra/Kraken better and faster, but it does exactly the same damage to a player ship as a common cannon. This makes PVP 100% skill-based and lets the average Joe feel like he can go toe-to-toe with any ship that enters his grid. Think of how scared the large companies would be with their 240% mythical plank brig knowing a level 20 from lawless could sink them with their common schooner if they knew how to sail better. All of the things that help you in PVP should be easily at your fingertips. Food, Grog, plate versus fur, etc. could all stay the same. Stop giving player attributes at 50 like someone else suggested. Getting to 50 is easy and the difference between a level 50 and a level 120 is silly. There is still great value from skill points but they don't seem to upset the PVP balance as much. However, I think it would be much better if you got 75% of your skill points by level 50 and those last 70 levels were about getting another 25%. The amount of PVE content you have to grind (without finding exploits) is crazy at the high levels so leave that to the hardcore that just want the extra 25% of the points. The rest of us can settle for 75% and still compete.

Of course that the DEVS don't play their own game. They don't know the shortcomings of the game. When the new team took over, they should have worked to make the game stable, rather than trying to trick the community by offering candy. If they understand the least of what is happening with this game, they would not be talking about new content, but about how to make everything work correctly. Some of your pearls in this new section. 1 - Let's reduce the map to make the servers with more players available: Result: They forgot to check if the servers would support more than 30 players per grid. They forgot to assess whether it would be possible to have many players together building without limits on a single grid. And we currently have 170ping on empty islands and 250 on islands filled with 19 players. (^. ~). 2 - Let's create the farm: Like, what's the farmhouse? This sucks for nothing. When the community asked for a farmhouse, it was internal construction. To take care of the parcels. Nobody wanted this thing that has no real use in the game! It removed the value of natural resources that were once sold to the most needy, over-construction increased even more, each company that found a cool place put its farm there, and now we have the whole island clogged with farms. The reappearance of native animals has drastically decreased. ETC. Among other pearls. Of course, this DEV team is really unable to create a balanced game that works correctly. I don't see a previous study, I only see impulsive people creating things like a child making a mess.

Fix the servers guys. I think rather than by cutting costs and spreading the pve servers between the eu and the USA (that's the reason between the massive differences in ping rate. I have this on good authority from a network techie) they really need to re-open the na pve server. Also can we have the support section of the website fixed. Trying to put a ticket in and cannot. Cheers

This Q&A session is invalid 100% because they did not want to answer any of the really tough questions like why are you trying to take a DUMP on all the PVE players you know the ones who play the game the most? Why are you looking to scrape PVE into the ocean ? Answer some of the question people really want answers to then we can call it a fair and even Q&A session you cherry picked the question you knew were going to be easy to answer. Get real and be adult about your jobs. I know this post will probably go poof into the nether somewhere because you do not want folks bringing up your dark thoughts about PVE. I know that there are some who will flame this post go for it that okay with me.

Sounds good! About the structure limit on ships. I can just say it again, there are way to many parts needed to simply fill decks or build walls and ladders. Add 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 1x2, 1x3, 1x4 deck parts and 1x2, 1x3, 1x4 walls and make ladders one piece. You will be able to build the exact same ship with alot less parts and take alot load of the server and allow better ships to be build within the same structure limit. Also works for bases and can be done with foundations as well to not require so many single parts that create unneccessary load for the servers. You dont even need new parts for this just merge the 1x1 parts together to form the bigger ones. Or create a dynamical system that gives us a switch build/merge mode and lets us place identical items that are merged together with the existing one multiplying the health corresponding and creating a larger part where we can add more parts as we see fit. Keep up the good work, looking forward to the new ships and sea content
