Patch V515.17 - Armored Docks, Trade System and Barrel Updates

    Sign in to follow this

    Ahoy Pathfinders!

We want to start off by expressing our gratitude to the community throughout the launch of the Trade System. As we sail along the development journey, some seas may be rougher than others, but we are still making progress and we would like to extend our thanks to the community for their patience in joining us on this ride. Although we had to consequently disable Trades last week while we worked on a solution, we will be enabling them again with tonight’s patch.

Patch 515.17 is scheduled for tonight, 11/18 at 7:00 PM PST.

Harvest Rates will also be returning to normal.

EDIT 11/18 as of 11:30 PM PT:
We are working on the Trade Functionality and ping spike issues related to Markets. Trades are not working at this time. We hope to have a fix by the end of the week with Trades enabled again soon. If anything changes, we will let you guys know. Thank you!

EDIT 11/18 9:00 PT: Note to Private Servers:
Private Server Admins may need to run the following command to clear Market Logs and get the Trade Routes running again:

    cheat CleanMarketLogs 0

:anchor: Further Developing the Trade System :anchor:

The ATLAS Trade System is an ambitious undertaking that we want to make into one of the core pillars of ATLAS gameplay. Even with the initial iteration of Trade Functionality introduced, it is still very early in the development phase. We are continuing to develop the system in a step-by-step process. Early Access gives us the unique opportunity to roll out the system in phases to see how it performs live, allowing us to also make changes and improvements based on community feedback. It is to be expected that while the Trade System is still in its early development phases, we may have to regularly enable/disable Trading as required to fix any bugs that may occur - although we will do our best to minimize this possibility. For players wondering if this means we will have to perform a wipe, the last wipe was necessary for us to clear any withstanding issues from a previous implementation of the Sea Forts. The Trade System was implemented in a way so that we can disable/enable Trade Functionality server side without requiring a client update or a wipe. With that being said, depending on the issue and how it affects gameplay, sometimes it can be necessary.

Trade Shipments will remain virtual for the time being until the system is more stable, and testing on the tangible NPC Shipments continues.

         :anchor: Survivability :anchor:

As a survival sandbox, the gameplay surrounding the risk of losing your stuff is part of the appeal. However, there is a balance to it and we recognize the need to introduce some elements to help with survivability. One of the first things we’ll be introducing are Armored Docks, as seen in the preview image, to protect your hard earned ships!

With tonight’s update, players will be able to build the first one - the Large Armored Dock, which can be found in the Seamanship Tree under the Expert Shipwright skill. For 1200 Alloy, 1800 Fiber, 6000 Stone, 2000 Thatch, and 2500 Wood and a daily upkeep cost, players will be able to build a Large Armored Dock to park and protect their ship in this 300,000 hp Armored Structure.

At this time, the Large Armored Dock can protect all ships. However, this large version is intended to store Brigs and Galleons, with smaller version(s) to come out later. The long term goal is that larger ships will need a lot more support than smaller ships.

Please know that this is still the Alpha version of the Armored Dock. Future Patches will see bug fixes, balance changes, and more polish to the Armored Docks. We are not quite there yet, but with further balance and changes, we hope to see this as one of the first of many changes that will also help solo Pirates and Small Companies.

         :anchor: Community Feedback :anchor:

We would like to thank the Community again for their continued feedback and support throughout the ATLAS development journey. The reintroduction of Explosive Barrels was meant to bring back an old mechanic and create a space and balance for it. We have spent a lot of time observing the gameplay surrounding it and we have been paying attention to your feedback. While we are still going to be introducing changes with Barrel gameplay in mind, we do hear you!

In 515.17, Explosive Barrels can no longer be fired from Cannons or Large Cannons. We have also added an 80 Gold cost for crafting Explosive Barrels. Thank you to the Community for your part in helping us to shape and define ATLAS gameplay.

         :anchor: Released Patch Notes :anchor:

    V515.7

    New Structure: Armored Dock
The Armored Dock is a structure built in shallow water to dock a ship inside of. It must be destroyed before the ship can be damaged. This Alpha version of the Armored Dock is still in progress and not fully functional! Be warned!

Smaller Armored Docks are coming in future patches along with bug fixes, balance changes, and polish.

    • Added Large Armored Dock to the Seamanship Tree under the Expert Shipwright skill
    • Has 300,000 health and is an Armored Structure, giving it increased resistance to explosive damage
    • Costs 500 Gold upkeep per day (This will be reduced to 150 gold in the next patch)

    Explosive Barrels

    • Explosive Barrels can no longer be fired from Cannons or Large Cannons (may still be fired from Catapults)
    • Added 80 Gold cost for crafting Explosive Barrels

    Sea Forts

    • Duplicated some flag interactions onto the Sea Fort Tax Bank
    • Fixed some stuck interactions with the Sea Fort Tax Bank

    Structures

    • Increased resistance to explosive damage by 40% for Large Stone Walls, Large Stone Gateways, and Large Stone Gates
    • Weight of placed Catapults increased from 120 to 150

    Trade Log

    • Fixed issues where Trade Log incorrectly reflects what was sent and received
    • Fixed an issue where sender and receiver were swapped in Trade Log
    • Added resources received from Trade Events to Trade Log
    • Fixed some scrolling issues with Trade Log

    Trade Shipments

    • Fixed an issue where resources were received twice from one trade
    • Fixed multiple issues where incorrect amounts of resources were received
    • Fixed multiple issues with Shipments getting stuck, eventually causing performance issues
    • Fixed the amount of Income (Gold) generated by Trade routes. It should now correctly reflect the route's length
    • Updated some virtual shipment server settings

    Market

    • Markets must now be within 22m of a Warehouse to connect
    • Fixed an issue where Markets and Warehouses could not connect
    • Fixed some issues where editing Trade Offers would create mismatched information between the server and the client and break those offers
    • Added new Trade Route statuses to replace PENDING:
      • SENT: Trade Route requests you have made that are pending
      • RECEIVED: Trade Route requests other Markets have made to you
    • Cleaned up some Market interface interactions

    Misc

    • Removed XP reward from all Golden Age Army of the Damned Soldiers
    • Added 10 second cooldown to gliding after crossing server borders

         :anchor:  Final Note  :anchor:

Again, we would like to emphasize that ATLAS is still in Early Access, meaning many things can and will likely continue to drastically change - even in the middle of development. Anything discussed is only up to date as of the moment it is posted. Features and changes that ultimately make it to the next patch, as well as timing, may be different from what was previously discussed.

As always, we appreciate the suggestions and feedback from the community. Please keep them coming! Thank you for all of your support! 🙂

@Muller map gold is the way I prefer. We do maps with ship wrecks along the way. The better bears you have the better maps you can collect and as @eeeceee said you can pick up blue prints and some decent items too. I think whales are a decent pay out also.

Glad to see barrels were changed... disappointed that ship gold cost was not modified. As a small company player, I uninstalled recently but am still following the patch notes. We gave it a try, but it is just too much of a drag to get a schooner, let alone a brigantine for us as adult gamers. Maybe next patch.. hoping, do miss the game. But do not miss the added (excessive) grind for gold in the early game.

Freeport Vendor that Pays resources for Gold, would be just as effective in creating an economy as this new trade system. (with a lot less hassle)

It would create a balance by allowing anyone to earn a ship (including new players), if you have the freeport ship salesman charge gold for ships instead of resources. Not to mention all players could buy goods from other player shops (which already existed in the game) with the gold they earn from the new freeport vendor.

And if it was about getting people to intercept trade, you can have an NPC ship (similar to SOD) go from the player's market, to the player's warehouse. Trade itself can be conducted within the player shop and this programmed NPC ship can transport the goods allowing others to intercept.

You can still achieve the goal of an economy/trade without  new complicated content (new markets, sea forts etc). They seem to be creating more problems and turning off players, than fixing problems and gaining more players.

    Keep it simple!

    Holy mother Mary!

You guys actually addressed the Barrel Question?

Ty dev team! Disagree with a lot of what you guys change, but at least you ARE changing and doing something.

As long as Atlas looks like a Dow Jones stock chart trending upwards, that's all a player can ask for.

Awesome, but if you want to protect ships with the armored docks go all the way and add a roof which is part of the structure. If its not a complete shell people will exploit it and sink ships inside armored docks with less effort than they should. For example by throwing chickens or materials from above onto the ship to sink it by overcrew or overweight.

I can agree with the other comments about gold costs, i dont want to play anymore because of the gold cost. It can only be played on private servers that hand out free gold to counter the gold cost for starters. Its no fun to sit around in landbases and wait for automated trade to actually be able to build and maintain a ship after many hours. Instead of moving players out on the sea it is even more landbased now to a point where players leave from waiting to reach sea content or get going again after a loss.

read the patch notes again, ships inside the armoured structure are immune to damage until after it is destroyed.

The armored ship dock is a welcome sight, even for sp mode offline as SoTD have a tendency to get annoyingly and uncomfortably close to islands on occasion and there are so few safe coves on islands near freeport cells. Now lets just see if it can go a few patches without immediatly getting nerfed to oblivion.

If you are in single player mode and you are worried about your stuff getting destroyed, why don't you turn off damage to structures?

Devs, I can save you a lot of effort.

Reduce company ship limits (1-3 per person). Make green anchored vessels immune to deal or receive dmg, or just cap it at .01% dmg if it has to have a value. Add a gold upkeep to ships like NPCs and it draws from the chest onboard.

Its not a big deal, Sea of Thieves gives you a new ship every time yours sinks. There nothing wrong with me having to sleep on my boat and keep gold in it to keep it safe 100% when I'm parked.

Less lag, less effort, more friendly to solos and small groups.

    Your welcome.

so does anyone know how much dmg a normal cannon does to this new armoured shipyard?

    ~350dmg -> ~850 balls needed

But they are blocking other structures (even each other) in a funny retangle that is turned 40° clockwise... so it is not good for harbor integration...
You can build structures before placing the dock over it... but you cannot place anything on the dock (so no Puckles - which only be needed when the dock is destroyed anyway)
I guess you also cannot build anything on the ship in the dock because of it.

I would ask to remove the structure blocking, so we can use them in our harbor builds - structures are not protected anyway...
Would gladly remove my 10k structure protective docks and replace it with armored docks, but a ship parking space needs some other useable/buildable structures as well...

I quit this game to hard for a solo just trying to learn the game spent days scraping enough gold to buy a Schooner then someone killed me and took it I understand it’s pvp but the grind to get the gold is just to much

Parked you say? Yeah im not too sure, you seem suspicious. Im not sure if you are parked at all.

Where is your island? I'm asking so that i can park my anchored immune vessel there and then we can have "fun" in this "video game" when my immune vessel does things to you

Needs further elaboration or Eeeceee's point becomes the new meta for unsinkable launch points. Immune to damage should = vulnerable to stealing.

However, we'd be lucky if this game makes it to release in a playable state at this point. Development direction seems to be a slow, continuous downward spiral.

WTF are you talking about? Read it again. Your boat becomes anchored, nothing was said about parking. In my statement, your immune vessel cannot deal or receive dmg, so you would do nothing to me. We would get along splendidly. While I'm offline, you can still attack my land base, but at least I can still play the game when I get back.

WTF are you talking about? Boats are things you can steal, I said nothing about taking this away. In fact I specifically mentioned having to sleep on my boat and keep it stocked with gold in order to keep it safe. You cannot steal a boat with an owner on board. If the boat cannot take dmg due to green anchor after 15 mins, then you cannot get to my character to hurt or remove me from my boat. So you cannot steal the boat I am logged out on if I enclosed myself and have a green anchor.

I suppose, if you were so inclined, that you could park next to me and wait for me to log on and hope I will raise anchor and sail away with you right there. That would be highly unlikely though, and regardless it forces you to deal with me when I'm online, witch is what we are going for after all.

@Chucksteak unfortunately @Xantria is pointing out a valid flaw. If anchoring then sleeping on a ship renders it unable to be damaged or stolen then we arrive at the alternate account problem. I'll elaborate.

I have 2 xboxes and 2 computers in my household. Many households have this many Atlas compatible devices or more. If I were part of a group of nefarious griefers we could use our main accounts per usual, then purchase alternate accounts and park our invulnerable boats (w alts) in various locations to form grief blockades or act as FOBs. From my house alone I could surround your boat w 3 alt-account boats and play on my main, theoretically.

Needs reworking, unless I'm missing something.

Also, in anticipation of a possible retort, YES people will waste that much money, time and effort to troll someone.

    Sorry dood

I really like and appreciate what the devs are doing. I would like to say that I play sp, and I would love to see more focus on that as well as pvp. I mean, sp players payed for the game too. But keep up the work,  and if you do, I will get you more players.

WTF are you talking about? (Sorry couldn't resist)

If I park my car behind others in a parking lot, I block them in. They can't just push it away. Same story here. Only takes someone 15 minutes to park their ship somewhere to blockade you and become an unmovable, unsinkable object. The recourse is some revised mechanic of stealing said vessel. If it only works at your own island/claim territory that's fine, but people will use it offensively (known as "turtling").

Don't get me wrong, your suggestion is awesome.
