  1. CAN YOU ADD A TIMER ON THE SCREEN WHEN THE SERVER WILL RESTART ???? I HAVE JUST BEEN DISCONNECTED PASSING BY A HERD OF SOTD!!!!! DREADING THE RESULT WHEN CONNECTING BACK ................ WRITING BIG SO YOU CAN READ. Edit - No harm was done, so all good but please add the timer on screen
  2. I’ll definitely go into this in much more detail on a dedicated post, but for the long-term health and longevity of this game I think it’s imperative that all skills, (and in this specific case, Taming and Breeding) have significantly more depth and breadth to them so that they can continue to surprise and delight players who’ve been playing a long time and reward them for time invested, making them want to keep coming back. As general broad suggestions I would like to put forth: -Rare Variants that have a percentage chance to spawn in certain regions or when the system spawns in a max lvl wild -Rare Colorations tied to region or lvl -Rare Cosmetic Features -Crossbreeding -Speciation -A fourth and obscenely expensive Tier for the absolute best Taming and Breeding skills and their related creatures. As to the creatures you’re wanting feedback on… · Bear – In my opinion Bears are currently the best tame in the game, they have the widest breadth of skills and abilities and can be easily specced for Combat or Utility. They have a large health pool, natural resistance to headshots, high damage output, high stamina and travel speed, and they are found virtually everywhere. They are not particularly difficult to tame either. As such I think their statistics need some long hard thinking and some steep adjustments in certain areas, or they need to be moved up to Tier 3, they are simply too damn good for a Tier 2 Tame. -Suggestion: Rare Regional/Cosmetic Variant: Polar Bear, larger and lankier with additional colors such as blues and pinks, no need for stat adjustments I don’t think. Chicken -Chickens are at a really good place, they provide a steady stream of eggs which is logically increased through mate boosts and they’re not too terribly difficult to tame. My main suggestion would be to add a stacking buff to Roosters up to a certain number of Hens that enables them to fight-off predators that may reach their Brood. Suggestion: Rare Max Lvl Variant: Ducks, functions identically except lays green eggs that act as a third source of Vitamin D apart from Fish and Milk. Cow -Also in an excellent place, I don’t believe any adjustments are necessary. Suggestion: Rare Max Lvl Variant: Yaks, provides a Vitamin A Milk and AoE Insulation Bull -This creature is horribly implemented right now, it serves no purpose once tamed as it does not even keep its Gore Debuff and its other stats leave much to be desired. I would suggest some sort of buff based on the number of female cows in its herd and some kind of utility such as Thatch farming. (Even if it’s not the best at it, just some functionality in that area.) Suggestion: Rare Max Lvl Variant: Yaks, male version has much higher AoE Insulation and can be sheered like Sheep for Hair. Crow -I like the way Crows are now and I think their Intelligence Buff scaling is well balanced, however… I think Intelligence itself needs some adjustment, it is a little too unreliable. -Suggestion: Rare Max Lvl Variant: Owl, provides a higher Intelligence Buff and a slight natural Gamma adjustment buff. Razortooth -I have not personally tamed or used one, but I have seen them used. My thoughts are a modest health and stamina boost and a slight increase to attack rate. Also obviously elevating them to Tier 4 if that were implemented. Shieldhorn -Again, haven’t personally gotten to one of these yet, but based on what I’ve seen they need a crap ton more stamina and a bump to Tier 4. Bullet Reflect and Armor are cool touches. Elephant -Good place IMO, perhaps a bump to Tier 4 if it were implemented. -Rare Regional/Cosmetic Variant: Mammoth, obviously fur and maybe four tusks… Giant Pig -Serves a logical and useful function, so no problems here. Giraffe -I do like these, as they have fantastic weight capacity, sprint speed, and hit like a truck with AoE to boot. I would suggest that the Fog of War Buff be more clearly explained or more practical… It’s not really something that will get a lot of use I don’t think. Horse -In an excellent place I think, adequately fast, long sprinter, and a handy torpor attack for taming utility. -Suggestion: Rare Mythical Variant: Unicorn, cures curses upon successful tame -Suggestion: Two potential Speciation Variants after 4th or 5th generation of breeding: - Clyde: A larger breed with much higher health and weight, but much less stamina. A Work Horse in every sense of the word. - Mule: A smaller breed that is incapable of sprinting but can move at normal walking pace even when over encumbered. Item Count would be its only limiter. Lion -I like Lions, but mostly for vanity reasons, they need to have higher base health to compete with Bears, and their grab needs some utility adjustments such as a way to hold things indefinitely under certain circumstances. P.S:: Their sprint sound effect is absolutely awful, please change. Suggestion: Rare Regional Variant: Snow Leopard, less health but greater stamina and a Pin attack for smaller animals. Suggestion: Crossbred Variant for Max Lvl Tames: Liger, requires a tiger of corresponding lvl and opposite gender. Larger, slower, less stamina and health, but hits like a boulder to the face. Suggestion: Red Coloration chance past lvl 25. Monkey -Fine as they are, I think. Ostrich -Also fine, though they could maybe have an escape kick that allows them to launch off of and out of groups of predators in case they get pinned. Parrot -Higher Insulation Buff would be my main suggestion, and perhaps a Music and Dance related utility. Penguin -As a Tier 2 region specific tame, I think we deserve both Hyper and Hypo Thermal Insulation from these guys. Rabbit -Allow its predator detection radius to be visible when ‘H’ key is held and provide some kind of luck buff for treasure or resource harvesting (perhaps a very low chance to yield an additional resource type per hit.) Rhino -Good place, IMO. Seagull -Seagull needs its buffs transferred to a new creature type without Oxygen such as a Giant Salamander or Otter, it’s fruitless and counter-intuitive to have a shoulder mount that gives bonus Swim Speed and Oxygen but drowns before you can make full use of it. Instead I would suggest a weather prediction buff or a treasure map quality detection function. Sheep -No problems here. Tiger -Only suggestion would be to beef it up a bit so it’s more on par with Bears and make its bleed tick faster without increasing its output. Tigers should be the premier carnivorous mount apart from the Razortooth. -Rare Regional/Cosmetic Variant: Saber-Tooth: Higher health and greater bleed damage but less stamina and base damage. Suggestion: Crossbred Variant for Max Lvl Tames: Liger, requires a tiger of corresponding lvl and opposite gender. Larger, slower, less stamina and health, but hits like a boulder to the face. Vulture -Does this even do anything? If it does, it is not clear… -Rare Max Lvl Variant: Hawk or Falcon, highlights nearby creatures and buffs ranged damage. Wolf -Only suggestion is to massively buff stamina, if they’re not tanky and not high in damage output they should at least have high endurance. -Suggestion: Two potential Speciation Variants after 4th or 5th generation of breeding: - Timber Wolf: A smaller breed that gains a pack buff when with others of its kind, no health or damage resistance buff, just damage output. - Shepherd Hound: A more domesticated breed that gains a stacking buff when it has livestock to protect nearby. Excels at chasing off wild predators even if it can’t overpower them. And that’s that. As I said I will be doing a much more comprehensive and detailed review/critique of the current Taming and Breeding system along with more nuanced suggestions and explanations. Happy Game Designing Grapeshot! -Cyanic
  3. Had a new Idea! Bee Keeping! So... I was gathering honey to take advantage of the wonderful 3x taming... and it crossed my mind that it would be cool as all get out if we could bee keep. Not like the bees in Ark, I'm over that. But full on bee keeping. Having to hit the honey comb until you get a queen and a mini game of catching her in a jar? You'd have to build a hive for them, and when you wanted to collect you'd have a smoker with a mini-game and if you messed up you'd get stung unless there was a bee keeping suit maybe? Maybe no suit cause that'd be funny to watch, mess your team mates up on purpose and watch them run, being chased by bees.... I haven't read any above comments so there may be overlapping suggestions. Bare in mind, tames are not y'alls focus, but some of us came just for that. I am one such fan base. I don't like ocean/sailing, fighting. I like farming and breeding. I followed friends over to Atlas and we have tons of fun even with me not being involved in the "pirate" aspects. Beyond playing with a mortar for kicks and giggles. :3 Bear - Honestly love it, though it'd be nice to have an option to select what I gather. Going for fiber and have to drop 5k berry s every few seconds gets old fast. And not just the bear, just about every other gathering tame. It is slow lumbering but that's understandable, and I love that it eats berry's along with meat. Wolf - Oh my holy no. My poor wolves attack EVERYTHING. Its nearly impossible to get one, let alone a prime leveled one. IF you can find one not attacking something and ergo getting killed, (cause the nerf has rendered them impotent), then you have to hope you can get it to a trap without it aggroing to something. And if you get it tamed, then it just sits in your base, useless. It can't hold a candle to the tiger and bear. Bulls- I wish they had more of a use beyond impregnating my cows and eating all the food. Lol, lazy bums. I'd say thatch but I really want Giraffes to do that and I'd cry if they became more useless. ( Addition, what about have farms that after being laid, could be 2X2 size? Has to ACTUALLY need to be plowed, and you have the cows on wander fertilizing it.... though in real life they'd eat it all... so maybe you can make farm land that lines up and plant grass/hay that could continue growing/feeding the cows as they made fertilizer that would gather in the plot, then you'd take it out and go use it on your vegetable/fruit plots...) Elephant - Love the weight, hate the stamina. Not only does it blow through it quick it takes a horribly long time to get it back. Also another creature that I wish I could have an option to opt out of berry's when gathering wood. Pig - I actually like the pigs, they look neat and the tusks are awesome. But, they have no purpose beyond fertilizer. Real life hogs are dangerous and can gore you with tusks and are known to be quite good at finding mushrooms/truffles. Giraffe - Change nothing beyond the berry option thing. LOVE THEM! So beautiful. Though I wish all the tames were easier to paint more complex designs on, everything gets all blurry and mushed in the transfer. Can you imagine a galaxy painted giraffe? I legit paid $20 for a galaxy painted tiger. I would for a giraffe the moment it came out. Horse - love them except the AI when trying to chase them down to tame. They always go for water. Maybe if you could grapple them with multiple people or use a lasso to passive tame it or bola it? Lion - I adore Lions, except that its just for how they look. They don't have bleed like Tigers, and they don't have knock back like Bears, so mine mainly sit around. No real use. Ostrich - I love them except they have no purpose beyond running around, which I use a horse for since their weight is AMAZING. So Ostrich is just for a pretty bird. Maybe if the had a nest to incubate eggs for you? Penguin - Cute, snuggle crazy but apparently don't help temps when raising baby's so that's all they're good for. Rabbit - please give these a purpose, insulation, a buff anything. I love them, and have a severe hoarding issue with them but with them being useless my company mates are not amused. And maybe nerf their size? It's very distracting seeing a rabbit the size of a dog awkwardly sitting atop my shoulder though it has tempted me to see if my dog would be able to perform such a feat. A few possible creature additions along with a more detailed explanation of painting possibilities. Tames/Mobs: Deer - could act as a passive tame, and passive gathering or a passive heal ability Foxes - Cute, popular, passive tame, could "fetch" things, or act as an insulator. Would be exceedingly neat if they could wrap around a players neck like an Otter. Dogs - many breeds to choose from but I could easily see a type of herding dog, Pyrenees to help herd animals, Wolfhound to help hunt wolves and other large creatures, or German Shepard's as attack dogs. Cats - could use to hunt rats, could also act as a insulator, could use as a small creature to snag other small animals, (kind of like a living bola). Rats - Mob, aggressive, small and hard to hit, could infect with diseases Goats - Good for milk and butter, passive tame, could be carried on shoulders. Ferrets/Weasel - could fetch, dig and be worn for insulation. Peacock - Shoulder pet, passive, could add a cooling affect, or a stat buff. Hawk - Attack buff, also could be used as an attack pet to heckle other players or wild creatures. Owl - Could also be used as a living bola, hunt rats, and add a cooling buff. Game Content for Tames: Blankets - could be used to warm baby animals or players could soak in water barrels to cool off baby animals. Hay - used as bedding for baby animals to keep warm. Fan - could be held by player and used to cool off baby animals. Bottle - could use cows or goats milk to feed baby animals to increase imprint and to also emphasize the usefulness of tames. Brush - could be used on horses and sheep alike, to increase affection points?, and also to groom the sheep to get higher quality wool. Armor for Tames - could implement many different kinds of armor for tames, making them customizable with paints, and different quality's for designs. This could really make a MMO feeling, in my favorite MMO's the thing I loved most was customization. Yeah we all had the same tools to design our characters BUT what made it yours was finding that color combo, that armor, and for our companions that armor, that really made it OURS. Affection Points - could have an affection meter for tames, not just imprint on them for a buff, but an active meter to pet, groom and feed your tame for a lasting affection boost. I realize this would make for a difficult build but it would give an edge over Ark while still allowing those of us into the more docile side of Atlas find a niche all our own. FOY potion for tames - a potion made in the the FOY used on tames to reverse them to their baby stage and enable them to be carried on your shoulders. Only select tames, and make it a complicated recipe.
  4. Haven't had chance to read through everything but I think it'd be cool if you can add something to the bottom of Beast Mastery skill tree that lets you share a skill with the tame on your shoulder. Like Crow can refresh your skills instantly or make you respec. As everyone mentioned the seagull can either fish or warn about weather conditions. Monkey can be sent to fetch "lost" or glitched out tames if you nearby them. I also think it would be nice to have formations for tames be it NPC Crew or Rhino's/Bears/Tigers etc. to be able to go out and adventure with a herd/pack of animals that defend you or gather what ever you are gathering. (If I have 3 Rhino's for example, Ride one and have 2 following the one I ride they mimic what ever it does with in limits)(Or if I'm on a wolf and tamed a pack they all attack incoming threats) formation example below: (Tame) (Tame) (Tame) (Tame) (You) (Tame) (Tame) (Tame) (Tame) Tier of animal should also matter more like a lvl 4 wolf shouldn't hold a candle to a lvl 4 tiger/lion. Which also covers the fact that a wolf tame dies to a sheep 2 lvls higher than it. (My wolf with a company member - Wasn't there but the message stung hard) Lastly I saw this mentioned but an armour slot for some tames... I don't want a monkey in plate armour but a horse? Yes please! Please please please have a perch for shoulder animals for when you log out that can also be placed on a ship... This might also help "cement" where the creature is when you log off so the don't go missing Thanks for an Awsome game and keep up the good work. Many hours of fun has been had!
  5. Bear: Already one of the most used tames, doesn't need any help. Chicken: Simple recipe (steak and eggs) for new players. Cow: Maybe some type of herd buff, so raising cattle would have a point. Bull: This is a big one, Bull should gather thatch well. Why in the world is Thatch a choke point in this game lol. Crow: Maybe a buff that finds dead bodies in the nearby area, since crows irl are kinda sketchy creatures. But with the intelligence buff they already have, not totally needed. Razortooth: No change needed, they are pretty good as is. Shieldhorn: Should be the epic Thatch gatherer! Elephant: Already pretty good as is. Giant Pig: New phiomia is fine. Giraffe: A pve buff would be nice, otherwise there isnt really a need to see other peoples territory markers farther out. Even on PVP who really uses that feature... Horse: Already pretty good, but would be nice to see something like the lasso from Ark to make it more fun. Lion: Seriously, the grab attack doesn't work on PVE. Monkey: Again, doesn't throw poop on PVE, maybe some sort of passive buff would be nice. (Side note, people rarely use shoulder mounts because they die so easy) Ostrich: Pretty good mount as is. Parrot: Fine as is. Penguin: Fine as is, I don't expect much from a penguin. Rabbit: SOMETHING, this needs a buff, or reason to have this evil looking creature on your shoulder. Maybe it would be easy to breed them, for noob food or something. Rhino: Should get some metal from normal nodes, just like you do with a pickaxe. Seagull: Should have a sea buff, so you really want one on your shoulder out at sea. Otherwise no one tames these. Sheep: Pretty good as is, more stam though. Tiger: Slight faster would be nice, but otherwise good. Vulture: An ability that goes along with corpses, or maybe you get a buff when you feed it spoiled meat. Something. Wolf: Not too bad, but should really have the pack buffs/abilities from Ark. That was awesome.

Basically clothes that can only be worn by each gender, and make certain designs only acquirable by quests and achievements. Make it something people can grind for. Maybe add buffs to them as well, or make it to where we can "enchant" our armor and clothes. Paints/Dyes - we already have quite a few colors but many designs don't transfer all that well due to the small palette. Could also implement "special" dyes that have unique effects and designs. Like a galaxy dye, etc. Or for effects a "flashy" dye, a dye that would cycle through different colors. Make the cycles random, and popular "flashys" could have a lower restock in the shops or as a monster drop. Poker - make a poker mini-game in taverns that allows players to bet gold, and can win a possible "pot", also allowing tavern owners to take a percentage of the winnings. Bards - make it possible to play for gold, craft your own musical tunes. Business Meter - allow a rating system between players, so when someone renegades on a deal, the wounded party can give them a certain number of points docked. This could also be used to reward company's, points could be given for good trades or when people in a company have been kind to new players or helpful in general. Could even offer rewards for certain point goals. 100 pts - special flag design 200 pts - company stat buff etc and so forth. It would help players to know who to trade with, who to avoid, and would promote players being helpful. Of course some company's might want to just be blood thirsty scalawags. I'll add more as I think of them.
  7. Even though I disagree that the game is doomed, I wholeheartedly support this notion for a couple reasons. One, you are putting your money where your mouth is when it comes to what you have to say. Building a giant pyramid to communicate your message takes a lot more effort than just banging out a post on the forums. Two it’s a creative approach to getting your message across and shows you’re not just another mindless whinger following the herd but someone who thinks about things creatively. Three I think changing the medium has a chance to have your message make more impact. I have two requests. Can you please include the phrase “ we apologize for the inconvenience” somewhere on the pyramid? And also obviously post screenings when you’re done.
  8. On top of all this the stone nerf plays a huge part in small company griefing. In rust a small company would put up such a huge base that most larger groups wouldn't bother with it because it simply cost more to raid it then what they would most likely get to loot. Not so with Stone walls being 30x the cost of 9 cannon balls in Atlas. Wood with 3x as many honeycombs is almost better because of the resource reduction to put it up. On top of that I would guess that many small companies are in lawless or tundra regions because those are the only places no one else really wants. Make stone stronger and you relieve a shit ton of griefing issues imo. It won't effect large company battles because that is what they want in the end right endless pew pew pew? Offline raid protection is really something needed for games these days. Maybe make it a toggle so you can choose to go full hardcore if your company chooses to do so. It makes sense because there are tons of people who enjoy pvp who don't want or need to be part of huge zergs. In fact those who go it small have way more balls then the sheep flocking to the large corps. That is what it is too...herd mentality. We all flock to the larger groups till they get their arses whooped then we all slip away in the night and pretend we don't know them and join the other big group. Seen that soooooo many times lol.
  9. Ya , my clan had our claims wiped. Picture was taken the day before. I may have not been specific enough, but the method in witch its done is that when a claim overlaps another claim then you can use the stolen land to place another. Slowly inching t word the others claim. once its overlapped it does not matter if people are sleeping in it or not, the flag registers in its own territory and then just claims it. I herd it needs two people to do though. You can see this in the claims to the right of the arrow.
  10. You might want to educate yourself on the term "trolling". There is nothing negative about the term whatsoever. Just because a herd of idiots think it does, doesn't make it so (even if they number in the millions).
  11. Hey Devs, So to get to the point. Alpha horses need to be fixed like seriously. Today we lost a rhino that we just got that we had to travel long for due to an alpha horse somehow clipping through our defensive parameter. This isn't the first time these alphas managed to break through something that shouldn't be possible. if we even get near a horse the whole herd go mental and the alpha horse comes running to attack anything that sturred them. I'm sorry but this is a joke. They spawn far too frequent and are extremely aggressive. hey if an alpha bear isn't aggressive a real predator then why is a non-aggressive animal like a horse capable of attacking. today alone I saw 2 alpha horses next to each other stuck in a pen. I'm sick of seeing my tames getting attacked in my building because an alpha can clip through walls and wants to agro to a passive animal that can't fight it since alphas have such ridiculous damage, hp and attack range. This isn't fair. I know I'm not speaking for myself.
  12. In ark, kairukus (penguins) gave a fairly good insulation bonus around them. As did dimetrodons and ACs but I haven't found anything semi-similar to them yet. Maybe we'll get weather control gems later, or can swam a herd of penguins at pregnant shit so they and their babies stay comfy?
  13. Unless you propose that they just randomly spawn permanent baby animals, the AI changes would be massive. You'd have to first change behavior to stay near mates. Now you have to figure out how to avoid giant herds. Then you have to change behavior to protect babies, so they aren't all instantly destroyed by predators. Again more herd problems or else unique identifiers for animals to recognize individuals. All of this places extra processing load on the server. At if the animals and their combat isn't glitchy enough already. I suppose you could just make babies invulnerable and randomly spawn attached to a mother to follow. Make them become vulnerable when the mother dies. Then bolo and carry home the baby. Once you get it home to a pen it auto tames and you just have to deal with raising it. Adjusting temperature and special food until it's juvenile.
  14. They added merchant ships back today. Hopefully they'll agro on SotD and help thin the herd.
  15. Hostile Animal Spawns - Currently there are lawless islands with entire colonies of things that want to kill you. I understand adding predators to islands outside of freeports but currently it's at insane levels. Either change the spawn rates or make it some they kill each other some it thins out the herd. I don't understand why a croc doesn't try to eat a wolf.... Ship Decay Rate - Ships erode over time but currently I think it's a little steep. Dropping the decay by about 40-60% would really be nice. It would really help out people that work, all players to put time elsewhere, and still make ship maintenance a necessary part of sailing around. Vitamin decay vs food decay - Food does not decay while the player is not actively doing something, so if your sailing along, your vitamin levels are plummeting while food doesn't. This seems like a major oversight, but I think the remedy to this would be do decrease vitamin decay by quite a bit. Keeping food is already hard, so increasing food decay would actually make it even more of a chore to stay alive. Make it challenging, not impossible. Resource Respawn Rates - Islands outside of freeports are sometimes barren of resource because people have populated them with structures and left. Please decrease the no spawn ring around structures so new visitors to islands can actually partake in exploration and gathering. I know structure decay is there, but it's not working / being effective. Exploration - Where is my incentive to explore beside building ships? Give us things to do, reasons to go out and do things other than farming materials. Discoveries - Add surveying and about 300% more kinds of flora and materials. The Age of Exploration involved discovering things, not just islands. Having a sailing game only about piracy is boring, add more "meat" to the game. Trading - I don't understand how trading is added in the game. Yes you can do it with players but what about the ports? I suggest adding copper and silver currency to the game and allowing players to make coins. ( Meaning being in a large company has perks ) Give freeports goods and supplies to sell to players for all 3 currencies ( copper, silver, gold, for example ). This gives players incentive to return to freeports and interact with new players and recruit them, as well as offers items to all of the above. This creates traders and give pirates an incentive to pirate at sea. Ships - Add more kinds, there are all kinds of ships from this era. If you add my trading suggestion, then trading vessels will be something to think about. Galleys were also used during this time and would be fun from a crew ( both player and AI ) and gameplay perspective. Galleys had rams, so it would add some fun gameplay around that, and used oars and sails, often latin sails. I might add more to this list, but I think a lot of this would really be cool additions. Please feel free to leave comments below. Happy sailing.
  16. It seems like it's getting worse. Trying to make a quick stop for wood and stone for tools and raft repairs is like storming the beaches at Normandy, even with three people. Rush in, send one guy to train most of the herd off and die while everyone else grabs a couple handfuls of fiber and maybe hacks down a tree or two before hauling ass with 3 Crocs stuck to the back of your boat. Feel like the biggest incentive I have for grinding a Galleon is the ability to do a preparatory bombardment before going ashore on a berry and water run.
