To refute your point entirely, and reinforce @George Catchers point completely, what weighs LESS and is less of an obnoxious pain in the ass to transport? a. A ridiculous pile of weighted, one size fits all currency or b. A redeemable certificate? Regarding bullion, what form does gold take prior to being cast into a coin? Raw ore and then it get refined and eventually cast into a coin, correct?... You do realize raw gold and decorative plunder has been collected ever since gold was established as a medium of exchange for, oh I dunno, SEVERAL THOUSAND YEARS? Including the present... You wouldn't like to find some gold ore in a rock you break? How about some gold bullion in a transport ship, SotD or in a shipwreck dive? You don't think some things should have a value of less than 1 gold coin? I dunno like seeds or arrows or a beer? We should have all this other ridiculous - overcomplicated crap in the game, but, a tiered currency system isn't a good idea? Please feel free to elaborate on the positions you've taken... Is this a real fear of something that has happened to you or just more speculation to justify your desire to be the online overlord of people who join (serve) you? Also, you continue to insult me. Have I insulted you at some point? Its possible, I just didn't think I had. It would actually be "demolishing" your harbor in any event. I never said I wanted to demo your shitty harbor. I in fact don't want to, please stop the strawman tactics. Do you have any idea how much time that would take? If you are a proper mega you would have thousands of pieces to demolish. Any competent company would kick me out before I did more than a few minutes of dmg. I wouldn't even spend the effort to blow up more of your base than necessary to raid you. You are painting a picture of the most powerful companies in the game being under constant assault of insiders. As to my shitty base. Although I do not think you are qualified to deem a base you have never seen shitty, it may perhaps be shitty compared to yours. You are in a mega after all and have many many more people to "assign" as builders. However I cant say that because I have never seen your base. I have seen several, ok some, megas bases. They all looked pretty shitty to me. Not a single architect among you sadly. This comes back to your god complex. Only YOU should judge who can and cant build a base of worth apparently. Outside of season 1, I have never lost anything in my base apart from decoys. I have lost some tames back in the day, rarely though. No gold was ever taken. No rare mats looted. No BPs lifted. No gear, normal to mythic, was made off with. I also never had a giant island advertising my presence, but I also never invited 99 people into my company and got obsessed with becoming the pirate dictator. Your straw manning me has gotten us off topic. You made no mention of opposition to my point as stated in both of my posts you have responded to. I will take that as a consent that I am correct.   3. I read 1 thread indicating my concerns were incorrect and 1 indicating correct. I have ZERO personal knowledge and posted this as a warning. Better safe than sorry type thing. I would also be curious to hear multi source verification or refutation from both PvP and PvE.

  5. Oh PLEASE !!! Give us a break here. After 25k plus hours in this game (YES that is correct) I thought I had seen it all but alas with every update and the stuffups that come from it just amaze me that these Devs of yours actually earn a salary. Grapeshot Games and your Devs have proven yourselves to the community time and time again. You DO NOT listen to us, and are certainly not honest with us. You DO NOT give due dilligence to your work. You DO NOT listen to reason. You DO NOT apply logic to your developments...and so this list could just go on and on. Your pompous, self-richeous arrogance leaves a LOT to be desired. Your pre-built ships are a joke (but no one is laughing) and are in fact so bloody terrible that you cannot even give them away! They are just an eyesore. You talk about improvements and balances...do any of you know what that means? EVERY update and your so-called improvements are a total disaster (Do not fix that which is not broken) When something is 'fixed' then guaranteed it reverts back to a worse situation before the 'fix' after each and every update. Today I have lost about 2 million in gold, rare resources and bases that took a lot of time and effort to secure - why? Well because you do not update the community as to what exactly will happen and just go ahead with your stupidity. If you hate this cash cow of yours so much, why not sell it to someone who actually would develop it into a world-class leading game? It has the potential for it as the many players have stated here over these past few years
  6. 1) Skills System - There are too many must have skill's because in order to have skill A you need skill B which requires skill C, this creates Meta! - Next Problem with skills is the Magic Respec ability allowing 1 person to be an army of people thru clever use of Respec's and even BANKING level ups! **** Skills should be layed out as Professions and every Profession tree should be available from Lvl 1.... To actually Promote Professions!!! 2) Sailing - The current Big Ship is better design is stupid to say the least. - Furthermore the Speed Sail is Best sail is yet another serious problem. **** Galley's need to be slow, 1rst Rates - 3rd Rates were very slow it was hard to push around that much weight. **** Speed should be dictated bye % Canvas into the Right wind vs weight.... Meaning a light Sloop should be able to outrun a heavy Brigantine! **** Sails should have Historical best performance at correct angles into the wind, 135 for Square 90 for Gaff 45 for Lanteen.... (Gaff's should be added to game, and Manuevering's fixed too look correct and be Lanteen) 3) Taming - Currently Taming is a Mandatory skill chain! And Riding 3 is a Mandatory skill! Because tames make the gathering of resources which is already easy well stupidly easy! - Taming itself needs to be fixed, the sweet spots on elephants and giraffes etc need to be repaired so there is less of the you can't avoid being hit mechanic's **** Currently Animals harvest about 4 times faster then the fastest human, this should be toned down to no more then 2 times better. 4) Realism vs Fantasy - Giant Crab's, Dragons, Giants, SotD don't fit the game or atleast not completely! They don't balance with the rest of the game and they are often in the way! **** Keep the Fantasy stuff to the Fantasy Zone's that players can OPT into or out of bye choosing to go there or not.... 5) PvP vs PvE vs Both - PvE servers get PvP mechanic's that make no sense to them and vice vrsa - Pure PvP does not make for a good game **** 1 Server for PvP and PvE with Robust Mechanics to support both groups on the same Server! Lawful area's and Lawless area's.... Create Order, put in Factions and real government and let conflict be purposeful... 6) Economy - Player Vendors are Broken - Any other form of trade doesn't realistically work - WTF is the Point of the Merchant ships that have nothing more then Free Port NPC aboard.... **** Merchant ships should be Ferry's that run between lawful zones and ports so they can be used as Taxi's. Player vendors should be placeable onboard them aswell as in free ports! WITHOUT ridiculous costs... **** Resources types need to be regional... Different Metals etc in different Biomes, to encourage travel and trade.
  7. @Nacona 1. Last patch notes, or ones before, says they nerfed 1 for 1 (same item trading). Notes say you have to trade different materials now. Notes somewhere said the income from trading was being adjusted also. Look back a few patch notes basically. However the trade radius is getting bigger. 2. I don't know if its a bug or if I was grandfathered in but I made ~5k or more a day from trading. I just performed 2 trades over and over, ( marble for marble and softwood for softwood) 2 old friends joined my Company and did same thing you did, built a warehouse and market out in the ocean about 6 tiles away. I don't think they ever got over 800gold a day. a. They had trouble keeping it full, so it wasn't always running. This caused less efficient trading and probably led some trading partners to drop them b. Most Companies were already maxed out on routes or satisfied and scared to mess with it because things were running fine. A few other things.. Someone claimed on here that you could cheat your trading partners by setting the trades at 100 to 1 and steal all their materials if they accepted the trade (or some bullshit like that) claiming the system would use an averaged trade ratio. Never happened to me, never verified it to protect myself and I doubt its true, but, who knows... Final thing. The last "Meta" or "Exploit" that I heard of was to have 2 or 3 markets and basically rotate the materials in a circle. 1st Market accept wood for stone, 2nd accept stone for flint then 3rd trades back to 1st Market something like accept flint for wood. The OP explains it better but you get the idea. Just move them in a self sufficient circle.. May be required to stagger the trades in conjunction (since each market can handle multiple routes)... but apparently if you do it correctly it's still very profitable like before. ** edit found the Announcement Patch Notes, date Feb 10th ** This is the link to the new method thread.   8. check this you can only put the warehouse near the water correct noww what happens near the water the megas blow anything and everything up that is near the water and one more thing i dont have litteral 5 to 10 hours to build the base cause i have a job to get to and can only play for like 3 or 4 hours a day and i cannot breed good tames to do the higher tier maps cause we all know trying to solo a masterwork map is suicide on a solo bear and how would i get the gold together to make a ship and build the parts for it ok did it done but gotta log off for work get on next day oop got raided by idk void or sumthin and now its bye bye gold and mats for the boat i only continued to play cause i could farm a boat everyday to keep a boat because this game and the new devs favor the bigger companys rather than the smalls and solos
  9. Okie stud. Keep up the good work buddy. So your method would eliminate random, "unfair", fights between 3 or more people (or groups) by... 1. Penalizing large groups 2. If people decide to avoid large groups and play solo (to avoid the penalty), they ALL THREE (or more) have to switch the targeting back and forth to avoid another penalty, in the interest of "fairness", correct? Sounds kinda like the rules we used to make up during sleepover pillow-fights... Ever been in a pillow-fight @chukiki? I'm guessing pretty recently?..

I agree with allot of what you said other than upgrading a boat to mythic/legendary The amount of time it takes to farm the correct blueprints and find good sails to make it worthwhile could be up to 3-4 months.. If you have done all the work before hand and this is all sitting in a box sure it takes 1-5 hours to build the ship.
  11. @Pant 1. Lawless has better resources. Fact stated by the devs when they introduced this new map. 2. They're closer to GA. Again deliberate design stated by devs, fact. 3. If, big if, the tower has a peace timer you don't think this will put Lawless on more powerful companies radar? 4. Also, more bases equals more trade which equals more gold, correct? This would also provide incentive to gobble the land up. Final thing, it's not just about beach bobs shack, its about territory and power. I'm not talking about 20v1 griefing (actually this game is so imbalanced that its usually reversed, 1 person griefing 5-10, if you don't believe me go read the Q&A section again, THE DEVS CORROBORATE IT) You see no reason to live on Lawless whatsoever, yet many people do because it's their only option.. or they don't want to play YOUR way... or they just want to small tribe it... the list goes on and on... You say for EVERY PLAYER theres TWO UNCLAIMED ISLANDS AVAILBLE on NA PVP? Sure... I find that hard to believe. Have a good day Pant.
  12. @Myrmidon Never personally used an NPC to steer my ship but Ive heard from multiple credible sources if you DISCONNECT, not log off, I repeat DISCONNECT, the NPC will continue sailing until the HOST TIME OUT is resolved. Can anyone corroborate or correct me on this who is specifically experienced and familiar with the nuances of having an NPC steer?

All sorts of other things -used to indicate related but unspecified events, facts or conditions If they're going to let it claim the Armored Dock AND the boat in less than 45 minutes I see no reason they'd exclude anything else. Correct me if I'm wrong, but sections of the smithy are labeled as "structures", right? So I say again.. Gah hahaha Sorry

    That count is from Steam and only represents PC players, correct? Wonder if they're only on official or include private servers? I wonder how they actually measure the player count?.. Does simply logging in count as "playing", meaning, if i just pop in and run a lap to reset some timers then log out, we both know Im not "playing" the game, I'm just doing a few despised chores, right? Between 3 servers w 121 grids each those numbers are terrible. Even if you double them to account for xbox... Wow. Was just using steam to play a different game, maybe I'll see if they give any insight into their measurement metrics, unless you or anyone else know how they work?
  15. I've been searching for a while now for a good place to look at some settings that can be added to the ini. I found a page that had a bunch related to the most simplistic things, such as XPMultiplier and HarvestAmountMultiplier. I haven't really seen anyone post a lot though. One thing i saw in the "mega-update" patch notes was that they made "colonies" easier for solo/small groups. I'm assuming this means that boat crafting costs are lessened. One very important setting i'm trying to find is how to lessen the crafting cost for certain items. Planks for instance. I want to set custom crafting costs for planks and the like on my server. I tried adding a line to my Game.ini, but i'm not sure i have the syntax correct. If devs/the educated could post a mass list of ini settings (hopefully including ones that deal with crafting costs and such) I'm sure a lot of people would greatly appreciate it.   16. Issue: For player to connect to a server where the player already has a character player must join new server and select the correct server. Last played Atlas info text on main menu is not correct but only displays what server the player first made a character on. Since the game forces the player to make a new character upon first starting the game and not asking where the player wants to play first this is likely incorrect.
  17. @wandelaar You are correct that it would be motivation to keep the resources accessible, but generally speaking that is something a land-owner is going to want to do anyways since they are resources that he harvests himself. No land-owner is going to prevent resource blocking whether he has the taxes set at 5% or 20% because if he allows someone to block resources it just means he can't harvest the resource either or collect from others. @8ball While you are correct in that a land-owner has to work more to collect the gold for upkeep right NOW, but in the long term it'll be a different story. If enough people live on the island, his upkeep will be reduced to the point that it manages itself with the taxes received from treasure chests or at least enough that he barely has to expend any effort to maintain it.
  18. I'm in the slow, long process of figuring how this all works. I'll keep adding info as I come across it, but I should have something here within the next week. I was able to scrounge the 225 seas for enough gold to make 3 schooners (btw, don't sail at night in the fog straight into a horde of SotD and don't face check icebergs) but a brig at 19k a copy is going to require some treasure hunting! Right now, I think you might be correct, sadly. I have a feeling singleplayer and dedicated servers work a bit differently with the givetreasuremap command. I still haven't been able to generate a map past Fine quality, and it looks like my initial findings in singleplayer don't quite match what I'm finding in DS. So it's going to be trial and error! Will update soon.
  19. @Nacona I really enjoyed your post and you do bring up some great points. Very few people i knew could go whaling on PvP and consistently make it back on my level. I took pride in my ability to do so. Also yes building a turtled ship for a 5 person harbor run was fun. Regarding repairs I disagree though. You ARE correct when you state that some people enjoy being a repair person. However I think most people would prefer to operate a ship and participate in large fleet battles. So I think less sections to repair would mean that more people could be a "pirate" and fewer would be stuck as a "repair person".
  20. There are some points i could agree with your opinion but lots where is do not agree at all. Going through the hole list is too much effort. Some of your points i would even consider as bullshit. Puckle NPCs should not take damage from ranged weapon because they would be useless if so. But their easy spam now is a issue. No need for crew transport ships and sailing anymore. Farmhouse are not bad but should work 1 tribe has max 1 per island gathering all resources. placing distance for farmhouse is ok or maybe a little far to avoid abuse of several tribes with second accounts. Warehouses should be available for more tribes per island = reduce placing distance. HP of shipyards are good. You don't want to lose them(your mystic one) by 1 cannon horse in 5 minutes, do you? But they should not be spamable as shoreline or harbor protection with a placing bug. Ships on open Sea not green anchored should be capable in like 15-30 minutes time. Instant capture is maybe historical correct but i think not balanced for a MMO. Current capture time is too long. Otherwise the enemy just needs to destroy one plank to sink it before capture or during capture. blueprints are the reason to play this game for long time, to go out and find all types of resoures(before trading). Maybe they should be balanced a little less powerful to max 175% structure/damage + crafting buff. Sails buffs are great besides the weight sails that should change the cargo rack 20% slow down. moveable cannons.... holy lord NO... you have already cargos for strong tames which is fine. 90kg cannons should have even more weight. Horses speed is too slow.... you can pass puckles that don't shot you because you run to fast for them to turn... Ever tried to catch a running cannon horse trolling around on your island? You can bola or hook but that said it is not easy to do so. Auto attack of animal when they get attacked while you sit afk on them? Good idea...not... don't go afk capturable structures is a fest for offline "raiding"? I think you consider a timer before the expire timer ends? Well would be nice to capture a very good island with bases and a harbor that may took the builder 1-2-3 month to set up? LOL small character is good for land combat and needs a debuff there. But I for example make small character as it's more options to make a safe cabine around the ship steering wheel for mortar protection or against snipers without loosing 3rd person view. Ship building and game mechanics know how.... others would say an exploit... ship crew limitcan be an issue but i think it's not anymore. You do not need crew transport ships anymore. Also crew is i think minimum 50kg each which slows your ship... make sure you throw their clothes away xD If you do not level crew your ship structure and damage can get more level so more powerful. Following this the skill points for ships are currently a very well balanced system. Also Weight was balanced well in Season 3/4. It got changed but i do not play season 5. remove whale, treasures, SotD,... remove all PVE content? Do you want a even more boring game? Players ask for more to do on the seas. I only agree there are bugs with treasures that could be fixed or improved. Drops should have more value... getting grey stuff from a lvl 60 red galeone.... or 110% damage mystic cannon? No Drops of ship sails... that's the issue.

  22. I have the feeling that you are an inexperienced player. That´s not a problem for sure, but when I read your text I have the slight feeling you need to improve your game knowledge. People are taming razortooths solo, do powerstones solo and lot´s of other stuff. It´s in fact a matter of experience. You can also do the hydra solo with grenades and tactic. The schooner is totally fine for a kraken event, maybe do the event so you know why? I did everything in this game and I do a lot solo. Sometimes it´s frustrating but in the end I have learned a lot. Just do it and find out. Most of the stuff you say is just not correct. It´s more like you don´t know much about the game yet.

Hi All, Just looking for a little assistance or to be pointed in the correct direction so i can figure out what i am doing wrong when trying to setup an Atlas sever with multiple instances that can be travelled between. This is how far i have got, I have a fully operational sever which boots correctly and allowed players to join. The generated map is a 4x4 and all players load into the home region and can play the game just fine. I have gone into the Server grid file and give all regions my public IP as well as unique Query, Game and Seamless ports. I you are playing on the server you can see the boarders are blue which from my knowledge mean your instance can communicate with the others and getting a response. However when you attempt to transfer it comes up Traveling to A2 as an example then you get connection timeout. List of all port forwarding i have in place. All are open for both TCP and UDP i know this in not needed but takes the same amount of time with my equipment to implement so though i could eliminate any issues there. 57560-57594 5760-5794 27000-27037 28000-28008 All instances are on the same physical machine and machine has a static local IP. Machine is only made from customer grade parts but is running Windows Server 2019. All Firewall rules have been set to match port forwarding above. Hardware is Intel i7 4770 CPU 32GB 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM No GPU OS in its own Sata SSD all sever files are also on their own 250Gb Sata SSD Thanks in advance, Jack
  24. I was pointing out that this statement is false both empirically and literally. I care not if you think your view is held by most, becuase I am telling you facts, not opinions. Facts do not care how many people do or do not believe in them. The fact is that Grapeshot is doing lots of things we the players asked for. You lacking the ability to read and comprehend this fact is not on me. So I say again, just calm down. Write a list of everything you know most people wanted in the last 12 months. Then compare that to what we have recieved in the last 6 months. (PvP only obviously, no one cares about PvE) It's ok to be wrong in your belief. People go to church everyday, and there are over 200 religions. They all believe they are the only correct one.
  25. Has anyone ever figured out how to adjust your private server's loot tables via .ini files? I understand the ConfigOverrideSupplyCrateItems= (blah, blah long string of commands), but I can't figure out the proper names for any tables other than the following: PrimalInventoryBP_SupplyCrate_Floatsam_C PrimalInventoryBP_GenericFishing_C PrimalInventoryBP_BaseMeatFishing_C Anyone know the correct "SupplyCrateClassString=" names I should be using for SotD, Treasure Map, Shipwreck/Sunken Treasure, Pirate Encampments, etc? Would be much appreciated.
