A good start is you board the ship first, call the animal to your ship through the spyglass to the side of your ship. My company has always used this tactic, on every ship and never a issue the 2 times we used the wheel we lost both tames. Same when you leave the ship, wait to call off your animal when you are already off the ship. Also someone else pointed out a good point about putting your tames up on the side of your boat underneath on the planks itself. We have never lost an animal when placing them there.

Ahhh @Sadie Blackhawk hit the nail on the head. 99% of your post is exactly how I feel as well. It's that people want the instant gratification, patience is not around anymore. Until you have to spend ALL day in a small room waiting for a damn NPC to spawn and hope it drops the boots you want. Or whole weekends in a raid to get better armor pieces. Now that shit was work. *giggles* This game is a bit grindy, BUT not as grindy as other games like Black Desert Online pops in my head right away. But I don't see gaming as work.. I look at it as spending time with friends, building on and gaining new friends, the fun you have, etc. Gaming is what YOU make it.

@Daemon Cross in those 400 hours, did you have fun? is the main question. Answer yes, then your time wasn't wasted. If you feel you have wasted 400 hours of your life in this game, and nothing to show, I am really sorry you are seeing it that way. You helped create and shape the way this game is heading. Do you play other games like FPS or some other genre and feel like you wasted your time in there as well because you didn't get a reward? Your show for it and reward is the fun you had, the friendships you built, things of that sort. I don't know, I guess I just look at gaming from a whole other angle. Maybe playing early access games just aren't for you. As in life, nothing is guaranteed and things will always be changing. And if you don't think I have a life and commitments you are wrong. I have lots of them. Don't assume things about people you don't know. Some of us deal with a hell of a lot more than others on a daily basis. It will be very easy to get back what you had and at a faster rate. With the knowledge you have learned from the game itself already, it should be nothing to re-build. Why in the hell would you wipe the forums, wiki and Reddit?.. there is still a lot of good information and discussions here. Oi! Some people just want everything to burn if something isn't going their way. What a STUPID post......

Really?!?! That is part of the fun, building and building new things.. trying out new ideas, whether it be ship building, your base etc. Wipes are not that hard to over come. Myself and the small group I am playing with are ready for the wipe. Let's us restart and plan a better base and also hope we can finally get the land we desire to live in, instead of where were "ended up" Strong minds overcome small hurdles!

I totally feel you on this. It's a weird thing to get attached to virtual pets, but I do. I don't want them to starve but the will to play everyday is growing. So I have been setting them on aggressive and wandering and let them do their thing. I kinda feel better about releasing them that way, then murdering them or letting them starve.

EVERYTHING in game is pretty easy to get ( well except land at times ) .. with all the knowledge you learned so far you can be back to where you are now in the matter of a week or two. Which we would be playing and building and well doing the same things we were before. Keep crying in your chocolate milks if need be, the wipe and changes are happening. I agree with what @MisterMyztik has said. As I am not liking the whole new claim system that is coming with the new big patch. Can already see the future of endless spam of pillars and foundations to even start. I say we go back to flags BUT LIMIT THE AMOUNT OF FLAGS PEOPLE AND COMPANY can have. 3 flags per person, and a certain amount per company and have it scale up farther depending on the amount of people in said company.

After reading many topics over the same issue I can't help but laugh.. it is the same shit over and over again. Those "hardcore gamers"( I mean hell, what does that even mean these days?) complaining because they can't attack someone's base whenever they feel like it. There WILL still be plenty of PvP, but it is just going to take a bit more planning is all. And since last I read, this is still Early Access and things are being tested out and assessed. With that in mind, if these changes don't go well and we speak our minds, things can be changed. Nothing is set in stone yet. Just because things aren't going YOUR way or how YOU think they should go, doesn't mean they are wrong.

Just because another game made it through a EA with no wipe doesn't mean another game won't. FFS people!, stop your crying and see this as an opportunity to start fresh. If you think all your hard work is being wiped out then maybe Hello Kitty Online (or heaven forbid Fortnite) is something more up your alley. Did you have fun up until now? I am sure you did, as you are still here. Most people got their money's worth from the game so far. Use this time to find what island you want to live on, (specially to those that were stuck living on Lawless), start building your base (plan it, take screen shots to remember), build cool looking ships for future reference. Set all your tames on wandering, aggressive and watch them destroy everything in their path. Go have fun on the seas, be reckless! Who cares if you lose a ship..With the 6X you can build another one and in an hour be out again for fun. Go ram your ships into docks and watch them explode. Meet people to form alliances with, use this month you have to YOUR advantage.. Stop looking at this as doom and gloom and put a positive spin on it. And before anyone says anything about my hours and blah, blah blah is.. I have over 700+ hours, shit TONS of tames, ships, base cities, ton of discoveries, and more. I am welcoming this wipe. I have beta and alpha tested A LOT of games and over 20 years of online gaming under my belt. There were plenty of games that have had wipes, and many that should of had wipes. Nothing is permanent. P.S. Lighten up, enjoy life, smile more, laugh more, and don't get so worked up about things. There are worse things in life.

I have been getting more issues over these last few patches. More graphic issues ( land that is not even there). Interesting that Discord could be causing this game crashes. Might have to do some testing myself on that. As for game play, my company members have been playing a lot less as well. We have done it all and the repetitiveness is just becoming all to much. We all have well over 500 hours under our belts. I myself am trying to hold out for the next big patch but alas I am not sure I can. It has come down to logging in to feed my babies, feed the crew and that's about it, until the weekend and I am farming my ass off for the upcoming week, do some maps and maybe build some on our little city. I love most of the ideas presented here. Hopefully the devs do look at this. You might want to post this in the suggestions part of the forums so I can get up voted for more exposure.

I can attest the sheer amount of SoTD's are just to much. I normally do not complain about things, I find ways to work around them. But I sail a lot and the amounts of them in one server is just to much. On top of that, they bunch up at times.. yes you can avoid them and I do, BUT when you have SoTD's AND whales chasing you down. I am kinda waving the white flag a little. PLUS, the ships hovering at the server lines are a bit much. Case in point, yesterday we were sailing on our gally.. 2 SoTD chasing us.. as we got away from 5 others, and 3 whales on top of the 2 damned chasing us.. we cross over to the next server and there is a whale sitting at the server line and jumps on the gally.. just about sinking it... we were able to get away with the skeleton of the gally. So between the sheer amount of the SoTD and Whales things do need to be re-worked. I think there is so many SoTD, because no one is really killing them anymore to help keep the population down. So I can understand and sympathize with Konvar.

We are having the same issues, after every fight I have to run around and put a good deal of them back on the cannon. Now I did see them come off when a SoTD got close to our ship. Put in a big report myself.

If you read over the patch notes, the Fountain of Youth is at ALL Golden Ruins zones. P.S. Happy Sails & Good Luck getting into the cave. BUT here's a tip... Most of the caves have zip lines to the fountain once you get inside.

Have you tried trading for a elephant?, that might be the way to go for ya

I think the main point being said is, people want the gathering in the week to be upped so all the fun stuff can be done on the weekend when everyone is on. Which is understandable. But with everything there needs to be a balance, and what is that balance is the question?

I went and did the FoY last weekend and really it was cake. I didn't lag to bad... once I got the cyclops pulled away from the entrance, we got in on the 3rd try. Also most FoY have zip lines in the caves, so once you are in just run straight ahead, jump on the zip line and Done!

^ This is my worry about raising up the rates, right now there is boats all over the place that haven't moved in weeks. It is an eyesore... takes away from the beauty of the game... and we won't even go into the hot mess of the Golden Ruins ( the amount of boats is just maddening ). I will admit only farming on the weekend is a bitch because that is the only time everyone in my company is on and we would like to go have the fun adventures. But I am not bitching, I just have to do a little bit more work during the week so we can all go have fun on the weekend.

Player numbers ARE low, in my server we are lucky to get 5 people at one time and this is in the tropics. Sailing through other places you are lucky to see over 10 people in one server. I am not sure about raising the resource gathering rates to perm 4x but I have learned to just farm my butt off on the weekends.
