  1. Right ..... so you and your two mates hear some good things about Atlas and decide to pull away from Rust and give it a go. How many hundreds of hours do they need to spend in the game (in between your getting base wiped as base defences are another issue) to become remotely viable in PvP? To have any chance of not being one shotted by one of these BP'd, level 100+ large clan guys. Little chance of even getting a shot off and if you are lucky enough to do so, it moves their HP bar 5% with a head shot. Screw it you'll build a ship and have some fun on the open ocean. Problem is your up against ships whose planks potentially have twice (2x) the HP of yours and their cannons do twice (2x) the damage of yours. Not to mention ship levels that are derived from the quality of the BP'd ship yard. Might as well stick another 2x in there. Quickly decide you gotta bail as you are simply out matched ...... sorry, their sails and resulting speed lets them easily harpoon you and finish you off. The separation of high and low is the problem. FPS games with thousands upon thousands of regular player put some thought into this and your level/gear gains are very slight to maintain a skill aspect. Atlas has completely lost the skill aspect of PvP .... completely ..... it is quite simply a gear based game that will not sustain any solos or small group players. They will try it out. They will quickly figure out the substantial long term disadvantage they have. They will be gone. You seemed to focus on BPs in your post. Perhaps that was a result of the way I worded mine. It's not about getting BPs or even the mats to make them or even the grind associated with both. It is the fact of how much gain they give and the incredible advantage a larger group has over a new smaller group or new solo player. The numbers are borked. To be fair the game is in EA and that goes a long way with me. Perhaps the Devs are just not worried about it at this point in time. I do know that if it is not addressed at some point the game will not succeed as a "PVP GAME".
  2. The massive power gap between players is a tough one for me to swallow. As a solo player on NA-PvP my gear (Ships, Sails, Planks, Armor, Guns .... etc) just plain cannot compete with anyone who has spent time in a larger clan and is running around with high end blue print gear. I do get that high end blue print gear should be better/stronger than vanilla gear. It is the vast difference that gets me. I get a head shot off and it does 45 damage to someone whos health bar barely moves. I take a body shot and dead. Again ...... there should be high end gear available to those who put in the time and effort ..... the separation is just too substantial. No chance except to run away or try to sail away (Which is incredibly difficult anymore due to high end sails) it is not fun. After rereading the above it seems I can solve my issues by just joining a good sized clan. Problem is I don't want to .... should I have to? Maybe so .... maybe this is just the way Atlas is and that will not change. Solo and small clans get ready to join or get ready for some pain. I just don't think many will put up with it for very long and current populations seem to reflect that. If and when populations rise, this unfortunate fact will become abundantly clear to new players and start the cycle all over again. That is until a better option becomes available to players in the form of a different/better game. At that point it will be lights out for Atlas.
  3. Why not have the ability to declare your PvE/PvP intentions. Back in the days of Star Wars Galaxies you could go to a recruiter and declare it. Overt and covert as I recall. Basically if you declared ready for PvP you were open game to anyone of the opposing faction who was also PvP declared. This would keep PvE completely away from PvP but still on the same server unlimited. Not sure how this would play into base raiding or building of bases. Perhaps whole islands would need to declare. Just a thought to try and keep everyone happy on the same server.
  4. Oi .... So my idea for small company players is a small land claim flag in the radius of the tek forcefield. Not actually a forcefield. Anything inside the radius cannot be damaged, but, the small company will have to pay gold for protection. The max amount of small company is 10 player, so for example, if I make a company by my self I will have a option to place down a small flag. The trade off is you and your company cant kill anyone and no one can kill you. If you are sharing a island with a big company you will be affected by tax. If you have NPC swivels it will not shoot at players. The option to target only pathfinders will not show up same as tames, but, if the island gets war tokened the flag will not help you. If you sail off the island you will be fair game. Here is my idea for small companys. If you have a question about it feel free to ask. You can increase company cap and the small company will be safe.
  5. NPC Royal Naval Forces + Where as an upstanding member of the RNF+ I would receive notification of an impending attack (Land or Sea) and would be given the ability to transport to said location. Once there also given the ability to take control of an RNF ship (any position including captain) or land post (Fully geared) to help fend off the dastardly pirates. Upon victory you receive some sort of cool points or such .... upon defeat you drop your head in shame, if you still have it, and go back to what you were doing prior.
  6. This was what I was referring to "DEV TWITCH LIVE STREAM #3" (right after the 10:00 mark) Not so much difficult to do, just low priority on the to do list it seems.
  7. As I recall Eve Online was having problems many years ago and the devs were rightfully concerned. Don't remember if they were losing subs or just not gaining new ones. As a result they rethought many things within the game ..... it apparently worked. I distinctly remember reading that they hired some well known (at least in his county of origin) economist to focus on the in game economy to make sure it worked and worked well. Good devs those Eve guys are ....
  8. I just can't help but think there is a lot more to adjusting the speed of ships without screwing with other things. Rendering in objects, on ship weapon speed (cannon balls, harpoon, swivels .... etc) especially when newer/faster ships are released, but I really don't know. I think a better option would be some sort of worm hole fast travel to other parts of the grid for ships. Perhaps each server has a maelstrom centrally located in it that gave you the ability to fast travel to any other maelstrom that is 3+ grids away. If your going three servers over you have to sail it. If you going from B6 to N10 you can use the Maelstrom travel. Would certainly make PvP a more open affair with companies attacking across the map instead of for the most part locally. Numbers can be adjusted, maybe 4 or 5 grids away instead of 3. Maybe you take ship damage as a result of using it as well. Kinda like this Before you start .... I know. It is a stretch and not very realistic, regardless thoughts are welcome.
  9. I would imagine they are saving new ships for a "Grand Release " kinda thing. Perhaps when they take the game out of EA so they can advertise five new ships to try and help minimize the original train wreck of a release into EA and bring new people in (or back). I would ..... new ships are a big deal and they know it.
  10. As a solo on PvP server I am looking forward to figuring out ways to do the powerstones, kraken and get rid of my "pissy pants" without it being a complete waste of time as it has been on official servers. I guess it depends on what options are available on single player. I do hope it is like a private server and many things are adjustable.
  11. As I recall ...... "someone" remotely official said the hat is done and has been done for some time. The problem was tracking who was who at the time of the wipe. Basically who deserved the hat and who didn't.
  12. - Increased sword damage by 50% - Increased mace damage by 35% - Increased pike damage by 15% - Increased spear damage by 20% - Increased throwing knife damage by 20% Meh .....
  13. I am far from an expert in this sort of thing, but, over the years have ran into similar situations. Sounds like a connection issue (no shit, right)? Two different computers with assumingly different specs instantly tells you a lot. I would start with how I'm connected to the internet and do something different. Are you connected wired or wireless? Connected to a router or working directly off the modem? If anything is wireless pick up an ethernet cable and go hard wired. My mother boards have multiple ethernet ports on the back of board, switch those plug in points around. If your going through a router try plugging directly into the modem skipping the router. Modems and routers also have a hard factory reset "somewhere" on them. Usually need a paperclip or similar to activate. Google your connection hardware and get the directions. Both modems and routers can be software updated as well. Should be done regardless due to security reasons. Motherboards have bios/driver updates , newer ones are pretty simple once you get into the bios. Older the motherboard the bigger a pain it is. If all that fails I would most likely start looking at purchasing new router and/or modem. I feel for you. I would be incredibly frustrated at this point. Nothing like buying a new game and not being able to play. Good luck ....
  14. Learned this one the hard way several days ago. Inside my stone forge building and decide to mess around with the company tab. Created a company that I was the sole member of. Everything I previously owned shared ownership with the new company that was created. Decided I wanted to rename the company and deleted it. Made new company and all was good. All was good until I tried to leave the building I was in. Door still showed shared ownership with myself and the previously created company. Everything displayed this dual ownership and there was nothing I could do. Eventually died of dehydration and had to spawn back at freeport to create another ramshackle ship/tools as I no longer owned any beds. Sailed back to my island and everything was in the same shape. Reposessed my old ship but am still waiting for decay timer to get to my old stuff as I didn't feel like making cannons/grenades to get back in buildings. Submitted a ticket but received no response. I figure they saw it as a "dumbass" move and lessons were there to be learned. Meh .....
  15. Elmo

    Help .....

    Ok, thanks for the response.
  16. Been playing since release as a solo player (Recently moved over to the EU-PVP server.) Began to mess around with the company tab an hour ago. Started a company that I was the sole member of. Deleted that company and tried to go on my way to doing stuff. Apparently when I created said company everything I own became owned by that company .... makes sense When I got rid of that company everything I own did not reset (Still owned by original company). I am currently stuck inside of one of my buildings and cannot get out. Nothing works .... no beds, no doors etc. Tried to start another company but everything is still owned by the initial company. Totally stuck and unable to do anything ...... Tried to start multiple new companies, even one with the same name as original. Restart .... reboot ..... rename company ..... remove player from company ..... new company..... can't open .... can't demolish .....got nothing ..... Doors do still have me listed as personal owner, but are locked to me. Has anyone ran into this before and if so hopefully a fix?

  18. I have compass issue as well. "M" brings up map in left hand and compass in right ok. Left click zooms map. Right click "Does Not" zoom compass.
  19. I had to reinstall a while back and had the same problem. Just figured I had to start over with a new character. Clicked on "join new atlas" and instead of character creation it took me to my old character.
  20. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense. RWE On a side note ..... which one of you asshats took my 19 large cannons.
  21. For the long term health of the game I completely agree. Need something like a month minimum to work through bugs/exploits before going live. The wipe will potentially pull in/bring back players and a good experience would be a plus. Of course, I can turn on the "me, me, me", Selfish, I want it Naaaooooooow! Elmo and say something silly like a week is fine ......... it's not. More time debugging the better.
  22. F@ck me, this is some funny shit Once again ...... people are too funny. Personally I think Jat is doing just fine.
  23. Old guy here as well. Kids these days have no ..... ..... what were we talking about?
  24. The devs can never win with a wipe. If they had announced it a week before the wipe the forums would be full of "You knew this 3 weeks ago! Why didn't you tell us!!! WAAAAHHHH!!!" Instead they gave everyone plenty of notice and what do we have? "You told us too soon! Why didn't you wait 3 weeks!!!" WAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!" Again .... there is no good time to share that kind of news. It is what it is. People are funny.
  25. /Shakes head left and right Gotta love this place. People upset because there is going to be a wipe of an early access game. Guess what ...... it may get wiped again in a few months after this wipe. Again 18 months from now. It is how this works and despite all the long faces, this is a good thing. If stuff is not working as you had anticipated ... try something else. They clearly said the old claim system and the new claim system were inherently incompatible. Sooooo spend six months trying to make it compatible or wipe the slate clean and start fresh. I would rather they spend the six months on other stuff than dickin' around with what was clearly not working.
