  1. 100% agree. I do want people to be able to do whatever they want to do. Thats totally fine. They just need to make sure they understand the implications of living on lawless. The big companies rely on peace timers aswell. The tax rates are negligible at best when compared. I really liked being a renter personally. The island owners were very active during combat phase which meant my company could help defend and also rely on the island owners for help. The tax rate was 15% and the owners put most of that into island defense for the whole island ( my base included which was nice) When the question of merging came up it was a no brainer considering we were all working together to defend the island. My 2 man company merged and became a 10 man. We merged with more renters and we became a 16 man active company. After we proved ourselves we joined a mega. Now my 16 guys are a single autonomous crew in a full company with player cap alliances. All that started with 2 guys in a small trading company at the start of this wipe. I understand this wont work for everyone everytime. But i am saying be open to letting go of some small part of your company's identity ( the company name, maybe consider renting etc) to better ensure you win bigger in the long run. This is simply my company's story and how the peace phase on an island we were renters on helped us out personally with defence and diplomacy.
  2. I suggest thinking of getting off lawless. If you think the tax rates are too high then live on lawless. But also live in constant fear. Some peace time is better than none.
  3. Its a shame but you are correct. I hope atlas can offer something to the guys in your particular boat. Its a shame to lose so many players this way. The game has alot of promise. The devs just need to find more balance. I personally am gonna keep playing. Im still enjoying it at this stage. I hope the devs can figure this out and stop pandering to toxic players in an attempt to keep the 75 odd viewers on those streamers twitch streams happy. Stone aging every small company they see isnt helping their streams in the long run. Its just making people quit the game.
  4. I have to admit the griefing of anchored ships in this game is getting kinda old. Litterally planking a ship. Having it sink and popcorning it by demolishing the decks is kinda crap mechanic wise. Building giant aids harbours is just making the game lag from the number of entities people are using to protect their very very vulnerable ships. I agree that there should be a way of saving green anchored ships after being planked. Atm they are too hard to defend without aidsing up the spot you intend to store them in. The idea with having them at 0hp is pretty good in my opinion. I would be on board with this as long as the cost of repairing a fully planked, green anchored ship is the same as the cost of rebuilding those planks. So a fully planked schooner will cost you 15 k wood, thatch etc or whatever to repair. This way the levels on that ship arent lost. The cost of fully griefing that ship would also be more balanced in cost as rebuilding it from scratch costs. Hitting unprotected ships is just PVE. Theres no risk to the griefer. Its a pretty shit flex imo. You didnt sink anyone in pvp. You just pve'd a bunch of npcs and sank an unprotected boat. Ur just a wannabe mlg tryhard. Try fighting actual players. Just my thoughts. Its cool if you disagree.
  5. All very good points. Id like the game to be more about skill at sea in pvp than raiding bases. If i wanted raiding on land id jst play ark tbh. Raiding is too easy. Griefing is still too easy. The very long combat phase still reduces players to sitting at their base or not committing to content via sailing due to the threat of being griefed or raided over a 9 hr period. I imagine that 9 hrs for a small company trying to defend must feel like eternity. Compound that with the fact that all they can really do is sit there and farm or sail to maybe a sector or two away incase they need to return at short notice must be very frustrating for those players. The fact that many players have a life outside atlas so that 9 hr period is the entirety of their playtime ( probably a little bit too much play time imo) i can see why people would get burnt out and eventually quit. They arent achieving anything. Theyre just defending, farming or rebuilding. I honestly feel sorry for them. Hence my post on being open to merging if you can. The game becomes 100 times better if you even have 10 active players. 30 actives and you are able to fight off and counter raid most companies ( including megas) very very easilly. I understand that this playstyle may not be what alot of players want. That is totally fair. Unfortunatley in the games current state that is generally speaking the safest way to actually play the game rather than rebuildng constantly. I really want people to enjoy playing this game. I feel bad that some people feel like this game is a full time job. When i say that your company name ( or title or whatever you want to call it) wont stop people griefing you. I mean that. Only smart players or numbers will protect you. Some other companies are just jerks for the sake of being jerks. They sink you and raid you because they can. If you fight back they come back with 10:1 ratio against you and they wipe you. They might do this becuase you won a fair fight at sea. Or becuase you sink their griefing galleon. But they keep coming. I suggest getting more allies and more players in you companies. It sucks i know. But you will start winning more and more fights against these jerks. They usually go attack someone smaller and easier when you start levelling the paying field.
  6. This topic should be titled " bp tools are too weak" Your issue is with bps, not tames. I agree with you that bps for harvesting tools should get a buff equal to or better than a harvesting mount. But simply saying tames gather too much and then talking about bp tools didnt help in my opinion. Gathering tames are fine as they are. Bp Tools need a massive buff. They are pretty useless next to high level utility tames as you correctly stated.
  7. They should just make large walls and gates stronger. Then people will stop using ship yards to do the job a wall is designed to do.
  8. Also. To all the smaller companies out there. Be open to merges. Be open to living on a bigger company's island. Your company title will not stop you from being griefed, offlined or raided. There are plenty of arseholes on this game. They may just come by and dedtry your things because they are opportunistic or wanting to show that they can. There are people who will just not like you for whatever reason. You cant stop their behaviour. The only thing that will stop them is players. Players fighting them on your behalf or players in your company defending your things. You will be a victim until you can defend your things. Building on a large company's island will help you. Merging will mean more players. Raiders, offliners and griefers generally dont like being outnumbered or even having an equal playing field. They will hit you again and again until they cant because you have more numbers. Being better at the game doesnt always stop them from landing raid mounts. Having more defenders usually puts you in the "too hard basket" and they keep sailing to find a weaker easier raid target.
  9. Your idea that timers should be corralated to island sizes is a very good one. I would agree with that being a good fix. As for the bases i am able to raid. Generally i come up against 2-4 defenders if that. Sometimes i havent even been opposed. Griefing is very easy as i just need to pop a single plank off an anchored ship using a bear cannon or crab. This is usually how a raid starts. The defenders dont usually start doing anything until after i have gotten into their mortar nests and destroyed beds and ladders in the vicinity and destroyed the ammo crate( usually out in the open on a cliff platform) Once mortars are out of the way i work my way around with my guys using bear carts with swivels and cannons. I use swivel bear to find max range of puckles or towers ( which alot of players must have bad settings on as many times the npcs dont even shoot) and then i line of sight them with bear cannons. Crabs make getting over walls and up onto high up bases very easy due to the fact i can just jump up over defenses and let grenades do the rest. When players attempt to fight back they generally try to hide in their base or near it and use carbines. Rarely have i seen anyone use the crab and bear swivel carts only real threat, which is the ballista ( i would reccomend placing some around the inner sides of your walls facing your base or ships to kill crabs that jump over your walls) When players leave their base they generally have 1-2 bear or horse swivel carts max. I usually make sure i put a line of pillars near where i land my raid gear for these carts to get stuck on and then spam them across the island im raiding as i ride around. Many players have alot of free build spots at the entrances to their harbours so occasionally ill pillar the entrace to sink their ships as the try to sail them off to an island at peace in their sector during a raid. When i do this ill occasionally sink 1 or 2 of their ships. The majority of fail raids on my part take place when the company i am raiding have allies in their sector that are willing to attempt to sink my raid boat. Flame swivels generally kill my raid mounts before i even land them in the best case which is smart on the defenders side. I will give credit there. When the defenders turtle up is usually a good opportunity to raid as many other bases on their island as possible. I can have 1-3 guys shoot at their base and make them think they are doing a good job defending while i send a single bear cart around popping bases open. Im telling you this because, yes, this is what i do when raiding, but i have also been on the recieving side of some of these tactics in the past. That is why i started copying them. I want players to be able to defend. I dont like how easy raiding is in general. Stone walls should be hard to destroy. A solo with a well built base should be able to rely on his walls, puckles and pvp ability to defend. He should be able to leave his base while some dick head with a single bear cart is shooting at his base, put up a fight somewhere else on the island for 5 minutes and not come back to a totally destroyed and popcorned base. A single plank on a green anchored ship being popped off shouldnt mean that entire blueprinted galleon should sink in 5 minutes. I dont like doing it, but it is the current way you need to raid to min max your win. I never claim islands either. Trying to find a naked or two running around and hiding even after their base is gone is just stupid. Just raid their shit, sink their boats kill neutral tames and leave. Im not trying to stone age people. Just put them back in their adva ncement so they need to waste time rebuilding everything. This is unfortunatley the meta, i dont like it so im now speaking up against it. I genrally only raid groups that grief or raid me or my allies. I am completely neutral to other companies otherwise.
  10. Im gonna have to agree with OP on this. Combat timer is pretty excessive imo. The war tokens dont really have much value unless you are hitting companies with multiple islands. I want a 4 hour combat phase with war tokens costing half what they currently do. 4 hours is still a long time to wreck a whole island with how broken defense versus raiding is. I can outrange and destroy npcs on puckles easilly with bear cannons and quite frankly stone building parts are piss weak. 90 cannon balls to get through tripple stacked stone walls on a base. And only 270 cannon balls to get through effectivley 9 layers of stone wall. All of this and the fact that i outrange puckles with the cannon bear so i go completely unmolested against base defenses. Even mortars are easy to get rid of. I simply climb up to their mortar nests and throw a couple of grenades to get rid of them. With the current raiding mechanics i am able to raid an entire island of bases and popcorn everything the defenders own before the combat phase is finished. All of this with a bear wagon, some climbing picks and a pocket full of grenades. Its been too easy to raid. Its getting boring tbh
  11. That’s a fair point. I’d like Johnnie to have a chance aswell.
  12. Base raiding is shit. It’s too easy, a cannon bear outranges puckles, cannons etc. stone is piss weak to the point you need to lag up the sector with entities to have a base that will last more than 5 minutes in a fight. Stone platforms are weak, ship planks are crap, even with green anchor ( 1 loser on a crab can bust out a plank and you lose the whole ship) crabs have bugger all to counter their excessively high jump, high hp, and ability to do tremendous amounts of damage) crabs aren’t a special sight on a raid ( every loser is riding one) high resistance galleons are a thing for some reason. This is total bullshit against anything a defender can put together to defend their ships or base . Towers don’t work, sea walls with large cannons don’t work ( 24 Large cannons firing constantly at a galleon that doesn’t seem to give a shit) rebuilding after the MLG wanker with these broken mechanics in their favour chooses to Stone Age and popcorn your shit is enough to make me quit. I can recommend this game any longer. I’m avid with PvP and win plenty of fights at sea. But bases and ship storage is absolutely broken. I can’t sail around every sector constantly stonaeging every player I see or therwise I’d be feeding into grape shots bullshit idea of what hardcore looks like. And PVE sucks. So don’t bother mentioning it. It’s boring AF. These mechanics on your “colonies server” are chasing away potential buyers of your game. All the new kids start solo and are piss scared to play this game. I’ve been in a mega and the rank structure isn’t conducive to new players learning the game. As an admin for a mega I don’t want to have to run around for little level 8 johnnie demolishing things for him so he can build his first sloop. Fix the raiding shit so little johnnie can go play atlas and learn the game solo or in a small group till he is ready to be on a mega company. Let little johnnie build puckles that actually out range a bear with a cannon strapped to its arse to defend his shit.
  13. I wouldn’t mind a wipe. I heard about one from no where in particular and thought I’d just jump on the forums here to stir up melodrama about the wipe that isn’t happenening. Im keen as mustard man! ive had my eye on an island that someone else owns but I really don’t feel like working for it. The company who currently owns it is stronger than my solo but they don’t desrve it in my opinion. They should wipe so that I can get over there and claim it.
  14. I’m pretty thankful for 2x weekends, most players are available to play on weekends and it gives people a buff for rebuilding what they lost due to offlining, griefing etc that happened during the working week when they had less of a chance online to defend. Having it every weekend has been a god send and I’m sure many player would have quit after being raided without the chance to defend, then having to put in all that time to rebuilding etc when they do finally get a chance to play on the weekend. Maybe the guys complaining should be the guys I should thank to a degree, cos they’re doing the offlining during the working week while most of us are at work. Thanks doctors, policemen, firefighters and nurses, i wouldn’t have cared about 2x if it wasn’t for you offlining and griefing during the working week.
  15. Lol. Most people are too obsessed with offline for me to care about the stuff in my base lol. My boxes are unlocked so if 5 hey bust in, they can have it. I can make more in minutes lol. Even ships and tames are completely dispensable hahaha. I only started enjoying this game after i started laying bait to find offliners and hunt them with my alliance.
  16. Fair point OP. I am a part of a much smaller group this wipe after being a part of a mega last wipe. I have enjoyed playing both styles. I believe personally that being open to a merge with a number of smaller companies from the same grid in pvp has been the best idea my company has had so far and subsequently made the game much more enjoyable. We dont constantly need to be worried about being stone aged anymore due to the fact that we have the numbers to fight back or rebuild and we have numbers required to counter raid and revenge raid if need be. I would recommend any one who feels that there is no hope playing as a smaller group or solo member open themselves up to a merger or consider atleast playing with the members from othe companies in atleast their sector to form solid relations so that you have a chance against mega companies or shit head griefers from other sectors. Check the steam forums and also the reddit for companies willing to recruit. You may not need to merge. Just hangout with them and help eachother out against people who have joined this game to soley pvp and grief smaller groups and weaker targets. This is just my experience and i dont speak for anyone else. Im just trying to give advice for those who choose to take it or leave it. Pm me if youre looking for allies or a safer place to chill. Id be happy to help anyone who needs it.
  17. Just nerf the large cannon damage to hell. Keep them longer range but make them weaker than ships cannons and make the ammo weigh the same as ship cannons. Like a long cannon (long range) that way if you want a dps ship you will need to get into real cannon range and be prepared to actually receive damage in return for dealing it. This will make large cannons (long cannon) into an option for players who are trying to get away from aggressors by using bar shot if they are being chased by MLG douschebags that try to sink everything they see.
  18. That’s also a fair comment. I like the fantasy direction that magic will take the game in aswell. Anything is cool imo
  19. I don’t mind the submarine in atlas personally. I think the fact the devs put the submarine behind a wall lend itself to lore pretty well. The golden age ruins are a lost advanced civilisation. Like dwemer in the elder scrolls. The whole steampunk (pirate punk, whatever ng is pretty cool. I like some fantasy aspect of the game. Other wise we just have a pirate game.i Played black wake for 100 hours and the game ended up being really predictable and kinda boring tbh. i understand where you are coming from with your post and your concerns are valid. However, this seems to be the direction the devs are taking the game.
  20. I agree that the large cannon became the meta. It required zero creativity. Shotgun ships are also a meta. Zero creativity. So little creativity that literally every ship I’ve sailed past in the last week was doing the exact same thing. You can still use regular ship cannons on deck so now it just means you can’t exploit the kiting meta anymore. I don’t mind this at all. Kiting is cheesey as all hell. Just my opinion.
  21. I actually weirdly agree that this would be a cool idea. Not sure if you were being sarcastic when you posted it. But props on a cool sounding concept
  22. Yeah dude, we can play on xbox when it’s out. I’m enjoying atlas on pc and I’ll probs get it on Xbox aswell when it comes out. I did the same with ark. Dayz Xbox was a flop imho. But I still got it to give it a go. I’m open to trying atlas on console. It should be pretty good.
  23. Lol look forward to playing atlas with you man. It’s been a long time in the making. I think you will enjoy it. Also AIRSHIPS, MINIGUNS, HOMING MISSILES! It’s gonna be dope dude! Lol jk
