  1. I had this exact same thing happen just now in C2 while I was climbing. Climbing up a small hill that I couldn't walk up and when I had my blue of the flat ground, as soon as I right clicked I instantly died. My ship was literally right beside where I died and I was able to respawn (though my bed showed a weird negative timer?) but there was no body or anything.
  2. Ideas: add an overlay so when you hit the HUD overlay hotkey (tab or H in my case) it would easily show you the health status of the individual pieces around you. Then you could make a quick circuit of the ship and repair what was needed instead of inspecting every single piece. Or when you hold the repair hammer it will change color of planks so full health would be green, med health yellow, low health red. When we paint our ships sometimes the color darkening doesn't work so I think this would be a better idea and not hard to implement.
  3. We were out killing whales just for the fun of it yesterday and found a bear just floating in the middle of the sea in D2. It did not show any ownership and was immediately claimable. We rescued the poor guy and filled his belly full of berries. I think there are still a ton of ship glitches where things just "fall off" or through the ship. We slid off the back deck made of raised walls and ceilings multiple times while fighting the whales and just drowned ourselves and respawned on the ship. I believe it does have something to do with anything made with walls and ceilings desynching with the actual ship and deck. Half walls are especially terrible. We ended up having to destroy and rebuild an entire section of a Galleon in the back because we used a few half-walls for height. Anything around those half-wall glitched out. So in saying that, until they figure out what's going on, I'd say keep your ships as simple as possible to mitigate the risk of losing NPC's and animals.
  4. This is probably the best suggestion at this point. Find a place with low tax and just build a simple building to work out of and instead work on gathering resources and working on a decent ship. Find a place that has bears to tame and then make a decent sloop with a large speed sail and a small handling sail. Sail around and do treasure maps with the bear (can easily solo common and fine maps with points in healing and damage on bear) and gather 6 types of wood, fiber, metal, stone, flint, etc. Get flotsam for gold and the chance for upgraded ship parts. You can then start upgrading your sloop or make an improved brigantine. You don't need multiple people to sail a Brig if you understand the NPC ai.
  5. Joined the server with a couple of friends and having a great time. Thanks for hosting this server. I highly recommend it. Loving the custom maps and proximity of the islands. It's nice not having to sail for hours to get multiple types of resources for upgrades. The stacking mod and the Advanced Structures mods and very nice QoL and the official servers seriously need to look at these. We were promised S+ structures for Atlas at the get go and what we got is no where near that so the SPUK stuff is a necessary addition. The gathering rate is a little insane. I gathered enough wood, thatch, and fiber to make a brigantine in about 5 minutes. Could honestly be tuned down to 7X-10X and still be more than enough. Also, the SoTD damage seems to be greatly enhanced. We got hit by a level 4 SoTD and it took out a plank with 1 volley. Not sure if this is intended and maybe we just need to work on finding upgraded blueprints for the ships? If that is so, cool beans. We did experience something that maybe needs investigation. We went down to C3 and there is an "island" that is not on the map. It's in the SE and just West of the freeport island. It's got large spires and faces in the cliffs. We found a path/trail going up but when we tried to jump off the ship onto land we there we fell through the island and got stuck under it. Both myself and my crewmate Lightning experienced it at the same time so wasn't one of those weird graphical glitch islands they are experiencing on official. We couldn't the cliffs with grappling hooks either, they just went through it. Is it maybe the Fountain of Youth island or something?
  6. Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? Frye? Frye?
  7. Can you damage the cannon with a pick? I haven't tried it.
  8. What exactly do you think he's trying to do? He's asking about PvE, not like he's going to go attack them. In saying that, if you look on Youtube and Twitch a lot of the major companies have vids up showing off their bases already btw.
  9. Let me also add that a full server wipe would also allow them to make some much needed changes to the map such as opening up some lawless regions. These were only put in place as a band-aid because of the lag/issues with Freeports. They could also add a few more islands and even make some larger land masses with navigable rivers . In addition, I believe they need to change the temperate regions around. There's no reason to have so much artic area if people aren't going to even utilize it. I tried it and it was miserable and not fun. This is a pirate game, not a norse viking game.
  10. I hate to say this but any major change will probably require a full server wipe. We have no reason to be upset about this either as we all signed up/bought the game knowing this was in Alpha. It happened in ARK multiple times so I would expect it here. A fresh start would be...refreshing?
  11. So found that once you down the giraffe first time just space wood pillars around it 3-4 wide and 5-6 long by 3 high. I did 4 by 6 originally and it was able to move around more than I wanted so I think 3 by 5 would work. Holds it well though and gives more space to feed than doorframes. I didn't have any problems feeding from behind. You can even reuse the trap fairly cheaply by just tearing down the 2 pillars on one side (which you have to remove anyways to get it out). You can then pull in another giraffe, drop it, then replace those 2 on the side (6 wood pillars total) to trap.
  12. I'm in D5 and was in the clan GWJ (Gamers with Jobs). I was unable to play for a couple of weeks and apparently while I was gone people stopped playing on official and moved to a private server and our place in D5 on Grocona Reef was taken over. I'd like to talk to someone in Atlas Shrugged about joining the company. I'm solo now and still wanting to play on Official and that doesn't work very well. I've been logging in and checking the base daily and it doesn't look like anyone from Atlas is working out of the old base and would like to keep it going. My sloop the Sea Sprite is still anchored there and I've been moving between it and another little base I made solo in D6.
  13. Just don't tame a giraffe. Right now they aren't even worth it. Using a common pick is more efficient at gathering thatch than a giraffe is even after the increased the rate by 2.
  14. Oh yeah, /signed that this system is NOT fun. I much prefer the ARK taming of knocking them out. At least think of something better than putting a timer on a bola and having to re-damage them down to 10% and then bola again. Here, let me suggest a much more intuitive and smarter system. I'm even fine using the current damage them down and then bola but make it a mini game after that or something to keep them calm and trapped. Make a sooth skill for aggressive creatures you can add into the taming tree and if we don't sooth them enough while feeding them they have a larger chance of breaking the bola. Give us a visual indicator of green, yellow, orange, red.
  15. Unfortunately I'm at work so I can't see the images but what I've found from playing on our private server and experimenting is that traps made using foundations are much harder to get to the feeding spot. If you use foundations, you need to build them out at least 2-3 foundations out from the doorways. Otherwise the creatures will fall and glitch into the ground partially even though they look like they are completely above ground. It's a collision issue that has unfortunately been around since ARK and these developers can't seem to get it right. I've had more success making my traps out of fence posts and better yet, use pillars if you can. Giraffes, well, they are just broken. They bugged to shit for taming and besides that, even with the 2X increase, are worthless as tits on a boar hog as my Papa used to say. You are better off using a common pick.
  16. We tested it on our private server as well and it's about 2x as fast using a common pickaxe to farm thatch over a level 28 giraffe. We didn't try on a higher level giraffe because the things are just awful to tame. We trapped a level 78 and beets were only giving it 1.7% tame per feed and there's no where you can feed it without getting hit by the stupid fucking neck swing. Not even worth trying. Honestly, I'm questioning the intelligence of the developers in this game. They are either just stupid or don't test anything. They really have no clue what the state of their game is and just make arbitrary changes just to say they are making it better.
  17. /signed This is a very poorly designed system. It's not fun. It's not creative. It's just plain bad. Try taming a giraffe. Can you hit you from about 20 yards away and at all angles at the moment. Even behind the shoulder I'm getting hit which the head doesn't appear to be swinging that way. Basically have to build a pen with about 10 beds to respawn and just keep trying to run in and feed it and keep dieing and respawning.
  18. If we are alpha testing and you want to push the system to see what people can create/break/find in the game then set everything to ultra easy so we can really max stuff out. At least then we can recovery quickly are not constantly punished by losing hours upon hours of work because of improper testing and coding. What's even more frustrating is most of these issues existed in ARK and have been fixed but apparently they are working off some old code? Makes no sense. So far this game is far behind the curve and I don't see it ever reaching it's potential with the attitude and lack of consideration so far from this company.
  19. The company claims to not want to punish players and make this game enjoyable. Well, you really missed the point when it comes to taming. Trying to tame things such as a Giraffe is nothing more than a trial of frustration. Find beets which are rare, make a trap or knock it down and trap it, then trying to keep it bolo'd and down while trying to feed it in a spot that is almost impossible to find where you can get hit when it thrashes it's neck all around is, well, punishing. It is NOT fun. It's piss poor design and if I created something that poorly designed in my job I would be fired! So I call for the termination of whoever designed this shitty taming system!
  20. I believe it also gives you a chance to get bonuses on regular crafted items too. I respec'd and put some points into INT and noticed yesterday that a bow I handcrafted had enhanced durability on it. I don't recall using a blueprint for it so I'm not 100% sure but I believe that's what happened. I'm planning on testing it further tonight when I get home and respecing more points into INT to see if that works.
  21. Also, there won't ever be a good balance when you take into account there are a lot of people that have zero honor and integrity, don't care about anyone else but themselves, and enjoy causing pain to others. Until they add some kind of consequences such as bounties and/or NPC guards that attack on site, etc, the 2X is needed.
  22. When you put into context that many things are broken right now 2X makes a lot of sense. We just somehow destroyed a guys Schooner by placing a large shipyard in our territory. There was plenty of clearance between the Shipyard we placed and his Schooner but apparently it glitched the Schooner and it sunk. He was ready to just quit the game but we are helping to replace his Schooner and with the 2X gathering it won't take a ton of time but is still tedious regardless. It's early access people so just chill out. This is a compensatory measure to assist in improving the game faster.
  23. Yeah, we had this happen in our server too for on of our Alliance members. A group of about 3 people just ran onto their ships and somehow sunk them all. 3 Sloops and a Schooner gone in a matter of minutes. There was literally nothing we could do. With the Schooner, they were somehow able to load a bunch of wood into something which sunk it. Perma-bans would be appropriate in this case I believe.
