  1. Yep, and you paid a discount to get in early. When (if) the game comes out of EA and goes on release, it will go up in price. So hopefully it improves to the point that YOU enjoy it and if not, then you lost your gamble. I've already gotten my $25 of enjoyment out of it and most of that has been playing with a fun company I just happened to bump into because we were in the same grid at the right time. I've had some hilarious times killing whales, SoTD, running the fountain gauntlet, etc with them. We (mostly Miekka our leader) even got an award for the castle and town we built on the old build. Tonight we are going whale hunting for the first time since the new patch and I'm sure it'll be a blast. I've learned in my long tenure of gaming that you get out of the game what you make of it.
  2. Look at ARK. I bought it for $10 when it was first released in 2015 and wow, what a shit can it was initially. It took almost a year for the game to even be playable for me because of optimization issues but now I've spent over 1,300 hours in it. Now look at Dayz. I bought into early access in 2013 and it's still a pile of trash with a lot of the same bugs as when it started. I tried logging in just a few months ago and died before I could even finish loading in, loaded in and promptly fell through the world with a zombie attacking me while I fell, and then the servers crashed. Haven't tried again since. I've gotten a few hours of enjoyment but the frustrations and bugs far out-weight any enjoyment. That's the gamble. Sometimes it's not even worth $10 but then others you are getting a whole lot of bang for you buck. Only time will tell and it's way too early to say what this game is worth. I have over 500 hours in Atlas so far and for $25.00 I've already gotten a lot of enjoyment from the game.

  5. I wonder if they could do this with the NA and just see how it works versus the new claim system. Maybe the EU server could just be renamed Colonies PVE and the NA server could be set with the modified old system and be named XXXXXX PVE? On the other hand, maybe give it some time to see how it works out. Most large companies, such as ours, Blackstorm Raiders, will be allowing "settlers" on the islands. We are just asking that they contact us on Discord and work out areas for settlement and make sure no resources are going to be compromised. Hell, we'll probably even invite them along to go do Power Stone runs, Fountain of Youth runs, Ruin runs for Mythos, and Kraken kills. I think things will eventually work out. Yes you may have some a-hole companies that are jerks but I think a vast majority of companies are good and they will be sticking around for a while.
  6. Shouldn't this be the case? I mean, should a solo player be able to claim the biggest island on the map? That makes zero sense. If you want to live on a big island find a good company to join. Can we still Ally? Yes. But if you are a small company or a solo and just want to isolate yourselves away from everyone else in an MMORPG, you shouldn't be able to get an island over a large well organized company on the public servers. Go play on a private server if you don't want to interact with others. Before the wipe I was part of a small Company in D5. When the changes were announced, half our members left and those of us left decided to join up with a larger group. We searched around and found Blackstorm Raiders and after talking to them joined. We joined because they are building a community in Atlas that is something bigger than just a few people. Here's what we they did on the previous version. I mean, that kind of stuff is just fantastic and what I hope the vision is for Atlas. Large community built ports. I'm not trying to promote the Company (but it is awesome), but I am trying to show you that I believe this is what the Developers are envisioning as far as claiming these large areas. Well organized Companies that are wanting to make something that is for the betterment of all of Atlas. There is a place for soloer's and small groups but I don't think it's in owning and organizing a medium or large island.That's why we have lawless and why they continue to allow for Alliances. Just my 2 cents.
  7. Is there no decay timer or resource upkeep on the foundations? I thought they had commented that there would be.
  8. It's a great thing. Very good business idea considering the just "started" a new game (fresh wipe with significant changes) and now looking to add some new players.
  9. Lets see if I can come up with an estimate that will be close. Patch is supposed to be released on the 11th so if we figure shortly after lunch cause no one wants to release before lunch in the chances something is broken! Then add their history that every release has been delayed until evening so let's say around 20:00 hours on the 11th. So I'll estimate 20:00 hours on the 11th. Wait, every single patch has also been delayed 2 to 5 days for "last minute changes" so then add around 24 to 120 hours to that estimate. So sometime around December 13th at 20:00 hours. Wait, wait! The 13th is a Saturday. If they release on Saturday and SHTF then they'll be working all weekend. So push that to 15th around 20:00 hours. Wait, wait, wait! That won't work. No one releases a big patch on a Monday. Monday's suck and no one's brains are right so push that to the 16th. So the 16th around 20:00 to the 19th around 20:00. Just kidding Devs, you know we love you! Just keep us posted a little better and we'll be like fat kids in Charlie's Chocolate Factory! Ok?!
  10. You can get fiber from the sea weed in the polar region but you have to get to the deep areas. When you first start though it's too deep to reach and you will drown without getting the full swimming and underwater breath abilities or in the survival tree or go into the ship building to get a dive suit. I completely agree they should make the seaweed in the shallower areas provide fiber as well. You can see it and it looks the same but is not harvestable.
  11. We made a sloop and then went out and found a couple of shipwrecks and picked up flotsam while were moving. We were going to do a quick treasure map or 2 but quickly figured out that they were broken and only for the Golden Age ruins servers when the PTR was first released.
  12. I agree that the initial claim amount should probably be adjusted up. We were able to claim an 81point island very quickly (within an hour or so). You also have to pay the same amount daily for upkeep which I see those amounts as reasonable.
  13. I can cook a hell of a dish with deer steak, teriyaki, garlic, cheese, and noodles! It is delicious.

  16. Abandoned ships are a huge problem now thanks to the "fix" to griefers who were sinking others ships on PvE. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of ships just sitting around and this is going to become a huge problem again. We need to be able to claim ships again and either scuttle them or salvage them for parts or just destroy them. The "fix" for players sinking ships was to not "allow" people to board other's ships? I'm sorry but that's just lazy and not a proper fix. So now if someone enters the space of the ship, even accidentally, they hover over the deck indefinitely until they starve or punch themselves to death. This is a freaking pirate game! I want to grapple onto another ship and swing from my ship to their ship! I can't find anything addressing this so how about allow people to board ships and claim them again but take away the stupid sinking thing. It's an easy enough fix imho. Step 1. Don't make the ship sink if it's overweight. Just slow the speed down like you do on characters and animals. Step 2. To avoid people exploiting this, don't allow people to climb ropes or use grapples if they are encumbered. You already can't glide if you are encumbered so the coding is there. Also, if people have 10,000 pounds of rock on them, they shouldn't be allowed to move. They should be dead. Problem solved. Lets continue to play and make this a FUN pirate game.
  17. I'm not having any issues that I can see. Did you get a driver update maybe that changed a setting?
  18. Actually, if you drag them off a cliff they sink really well. I was kiting one and got cornered on a cliff so I jumped off. It was one of those areas where it just goes straight down to the sea floor with the kelp. The elemental followed me right into the water and just kept sinking down and down until he disappeared. I swam down and he was just sitting on the bottom of the ocean. LOL
  19. /SIGNED Make the small gate actually small 2X2.5 or 2X3 for smaller animals, then give us an actual medium that elephants can fit through such as a 3X4 that isn't obscenely big like the behemoth. Keep the behemoth if we want to wall in a bay area to allow large ships though. Also, the Castle+ mod in ARK had an awesome portcullis and a drawbridge. Need to add those to the game. We already have a lift system so a drawbridge makes sense!
  20. I really hope they stay on schedule. Putting out dates and then missing them is very unprofessional and continuing to delay is not good. My original clan from GWJ came with like 8 people and now only 2 of us are planning to continue. Those of us still around understand it's Early Access so just get us something to play.
  21. 1 week should be fine considering the game is Early Access. PTR for one week to see if there are any hiccups or unintended consequences like lag from pillar spam?
  22. Still happening as of 03/12/2019. Happened on the SW Island of C2 to me while using a climbing pick to get up a small slope right by the ocean edge. Only had to climb a couple times then got blue line to land and as soon as I went to top just said "You died" and there was no body.
