  1. Fair enough, yeah there isn't a lot of island selling going on right now. There's some, but not enough to make it a wide-spread issue. That may change at a later point, but for the time being it will just remain an uncomfortable itch in the back of my head.
  2. I dunno, if the cost is the only offset then I feel like it should be higher. 25k isn't much, to be honest. My company currently owns a large island, that has at least one of every type of resource on it. It's a pretty popular island, and we have 26 different companies on our island that are all active. About half of them have their main base set up there. I could easily just unclaim the flag while everyone is offline, put it back down and in 2 days cost them all their bases for less than half a day's work of treasure maps. I wouldn't, but I could. If I do that, it's unlikely those people are just going to rebuild. No, more likely they're just done with the game at that point, after having lost everything they have to a new mechanic they may not even be aware of. So not only did I just cost them their stuff, I just reduced the already faltering player base. If I were more of a troll than I am, that would be a pretty good day's work right there.
  3. Unfortunately this new "mechanic," as we're calling it, gives people even less of a reason to live on claimed islands instead of lawless. In my opinion, there should be far more benefits to being a settler than to living on a lawless island. This is especially true on PvE, where the one main benefit - protection - is non-existent, and people tend to put more love into their homes. Now we have to be concerned about our landlords deciding to sell the island to someone who wants a nice clean slate to work with while we're sleeping.
  4. Sort of. It's a volcano now, but for the past few months it was just a regular mountain with the possibility of riff-raff moving in next door.
  5. It also means with my 500k gold I have no use for and the increased island points we have I could just go around griefing people, claiming unclaimed islands for 2 days and wiping out everyone that lives there.
  6. Never forget the days before decay.
  7. That's thinking way too vanilla. Spam and porn come in many different flavors. Except actual Spam, that just tastes like Spam.
  8. At least he has clothes period. My crew are so naked they make a cocaine factory look like a nunnery.
  9. I always put my unstationed crew on chairs to prevent them from repairing my ships, using up repair mats every time the planks decay by 1hp. Seems like now I'll have to take the repair mats out to stop them. See? You can still find things to complain about.
  10. I keep several views on my map saved for quick and easy access. Every time I open up my atlas though, it's a crapshoot whether or not those saved views are still there. They seem to disappear randomly. Relog? All of them gone forever. Respawn? All but one of them disappears. Fast Travel? All of them gone forever. Walk near a large base? Just one of them disappears. Or any combination of any of those results. Does anyone else have this issue? Or know of a way to make them a little more permanent?
  11. So... Turn off claim flag payments? Or use a silo instead. All the tools and info have been provided, at this point if you lose your island due to this it's on you.
  12. Downloading the newest patch fixed the problem for me.

Same here as well. PvE EU M11
  14. Tried putting a shipyard in my harbor, but the wrecks that have disappeared 2 months ago (but the icon is still there) are apparently being counted as still being in the world, because I can't build a ship in the yard because it isn't clear. Mind you, visually the shipyard is completely clear and there is no reason I can't build a ship there, other than that the shipyard is built over the area a ship sank a long time ago.
  15. Well, both have a form of territorial claims in which they are vulnerable within limited time windows, both have ships that take forever to get anywhere as the primary mode of transportation, both are really grindy, and both developers meet with and talk to the larger groups of players to hear their thoughts on the future of the game. Though really those are just things the two games have in common. It would be like saying Fortnite is based on Counter-Strike because both have a variety of guns, you can take cover behind buildings and the goal is to be the last one standing. You could make the argument, and while technically not incorrect it would be a stretch to say one is "based on" the other.
  16. Microsoft had recently announced that they're going to be bringing a lot of their games to Steam and have been working with Valve on getting crossplay working properly. Atlas may come out on console before they have everything in place so yeah it's unlikely that this game will have crossplay but never say never.
  17. Still seeing shipwreck icons from ships that sank during the first week post-wipe.
  18. You can already build anywhere, except for Freeports and Golden Age Ruins. I've been sailing around building anywhere and everywhere I want with nothing stopping me (except foundation spam). So I guess good news, you have what you want.
  19. You can either hold E on it and select the option to retract the ladder, or you can press L while you're on the wheel to toggle the ladders on the ship.
  20. Well... Shouldn't getting hacked apart by a sword, crushed by a mace, stabbed with a spear or pike or even knife do more damage than a flintlock? The firearms of the era weren't really that deadly by comparison. Think the numbers could probably be tweaked further but nothing wrong with melee weapons doing more damage than ranged.
  21. Its course has changed since the original map plotting its course was created. New islands were added that were in its path and so now it has a different route. Make sure you're looking at an updated map, and not an old one. As for the marker staying still, you may need to uncheck and recheck the quest in the log to get an updated position, as the marker may not move with it in real time. Not positive on that one, just an idea to try.
  22. While I agree that it would be cool, NPC AI has never been a strong point for this company. It's a cool wish, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
  23. Dollie had said that they had found a repro of the bug and were going to see what they could do about it. They then put a patch out that was meant to fix it but didn't work. We've had silence since, except for an acknowledgment that they know the patch didn't fix it.
  24. Honestly I'm not sure why this isn't being treated like the game breaking bug that it is. It's very disheartening when a quarter of my base comes crashing down whenever I demolish a ceiling tile on a separate structure on the far side of the beach that isn't even connected to my base, and then to see them put out patch after patch and still not address this two months later.
  25. In regard to number 7, yes there are mechanics already in place that can be used to prevent this. Company owners and admins can assign ranks to players, and all structures and tamed animals can have their inventory access and activation access set to only allow certain ranks. I.E. If my rank in the company is set to rank 4, and new recruits are defaulted to rank 1, I can set all the parts of my ship to activation rank 4 and nobody under rank 4 can touch any part of my ship. If someone new joined the company, an admin would have to give them permission to interact with it. As for number 3, I always seem to spawn in the water on the grid border whenever I log out on one of my company's ships and they travel to another grid while I'm offline. I don't see why it would be any different for non-allied players.
