It is a 5 length ship built in the Advanced Shipyard once players have found blueprints for it. Blueprints can be found in shipwrecks. Unlocked in the Advanced Shipwright Skill It comes with 6 tame railings that can store 5 tames each (30 Total). Resources for a base version: Wood - 2500 Thatch - 2000 Fibers - 2000 Metal - 20 New Modular Ship UI We’ve added a popularly voted on request to the game in the form of additional UI for captains to know where leaks and damage is on their modular ships. There are 3 stages for durability: Green - Durability is good Yellow - Durability is moderate Red - Durability is poor If the portion of the ship is flashing, it means this area has a leak. We will look to make this UI element colorblind friendly in the future. Map Menu UI Visual Revamp The Atlas tab map UI has been revamped visually for an easier navigation of the regions. Instead of having dropdown tabs of the regions on the left, all regions available will be shown on one Overworld map. Players will be able to click and see all regions available on the overworld map. To get to the Overworld map click on the icon of the globe in the top left of your map screen. The region the player is currently in on the Overworld map is highlighted in green. Open Water Servers There is a new way to traverse through the atlas’ regions besides portals. There are now intermediate open water servers that connect regions to one another. There are no islands to be found here, just open seas and the treasure and dangers that come along with it. They are known as open waters and there are four of them within the world. They are connected through all sides of the Central Waters region. Depending on which cardinal direction the player goes through determines which region they travel to. Northern Sea - North Pole, Eastern Waters, Central Waters, Western Waters Eastern Sea - North Pole, Eastern Waters, Africa, Central Waters Southern Sea - Central Waters, Africa, Antarctica, South America Western Sea - North Pole, Central Waters, South America, Western Waters Industrial Wonder Content The industrial path of Wonders is slowly making its way into the Atlas. Transient and Static nodes for this path can be found and harvested exclusively within the Uncharted Sea region. Industrial Wonder: Power Nodes Transient Node - Geothermal Vents This transient node is similar to the Army of the Damned ones in that they have a time limit of one week before they deplete, despawn, and respawn at a different location, but they spawn more inland. Players will need to craft the new Ore Miner structure in order to harvest the resource of these nodes. These transient nodes produce a new resource type of coal: Brimstone Static Nodes There are two variants of Industrial static nodes - Lava vents and Sulfur pits. There is no need to create a harvesting structure for either as Pathfinders who’ve traveled here have built them already, but they seem to have perished. Lava Vents produce a new metal: Orichalcum. Sulfur Pits produce a new type of coal: Pure Sulfur Both of these resources are needed to craft new Industrial structures and gear now and in the future. Lava static nodes allow players to build the Industrial Smithy. Sulfur pit static nodes will get new crafting recipes in the future! Visit new areas based on geographical locations Regions Available Rookie Cove - An area for all pathfinders to cruise the seas in peace. A cove for all to gather their bearings and test their newfound abilities until they are comfortable to progress full sail ahead! Central Waters - The largest area in the game and host to a healthy mix of tropical/temperate islands, but also an ancient evil told in Atlantean myths. Can you find all the power stones and defeat the greatest challenge? South America - A region home to tropical/equatorial areas. However, there seems to be faint chanting amongst this region. Will you be able to find the source of this hidden power? Africa - A region home to the hottest desert Islands around. Crocodiles, venomous snakes and lots and lots of sand call this region home. Antarctica - The harshest sub-zero climates, icebergs, penguins, and illusive yeti's populate the islands around here. North Pole - The north pole is similar to Antarctica, but to the north. Same freezing weather but perhaps the treasures here are the defining difference. Atlas Menu Map The Atlas Menu has been modified to fit the new regions available. The following tabs are available for you to look at. Overworld - The first map drafted by early cartographers. A general outline of the world is available. Rookie Cove - The home to the starting, self-titled region Central Ocean - You will find the map to the Central Waters region here Mediterranean Sea - The blazing hot desert islands of Africa region is here Central Maw - Uncharted waters, but rumor has it that the Kraken's lair is here South Atlantic Ocean - Tropical Oasis of the South America Region are found here Arctic Ocean - The extreme colds of the North Pole Region are located here Southern Ocean - The freezing depths of the Antarctica Region are here Portals Atlantean technology has arisen from the dark depths of abysses unknown. With it however, it looks like traveling from region to region has become a whole lot quicker, but perhaps even more dangerous. Pathfinder Portals - The privateers before you have taken it upon themselves to start studying the portals as well as providing safe passage through these portals. Located within Rookie Cove and Central Waters, these portals will transport you between these regions! Perpetual Portals - It seems the Atlanteans created a sort of oceanic highway. A free, reliable way of travel between regions. They have arisen from the depths and are available for all to travel through and explore! Damaged Portals - In the thousands of years Atlanteans have gone missing, not all of the portals have been kept in functional shape or have been left unfinished. These portals need some extra gem power to travel through. Be warned these do not stay open forever! Cost: Magic Marrow: 50 Gold Coin: 250 Central Portal - Seemingly, this seems to be the first type of portal ever created! However, it seems to have been keeping something away rather than allowing others in. Located in the Central Waters Region only, it seems to need power stones to open. Will you be the first to see what's on the other side? Power Node system Transient Nodes Transient Nodes are special locations on islands that allow for unique resource harvesting. Functionality still works and can be used on Unofficial Servers, a word from our Lead Designer: v401.9 - Disabled Claim Flag height limit on PvE servers (only meant to be active on PvP) v401.5 (Server 401.8) - Islands on the Official Network now have a maximum z-value for how high Claim Flags can be placed, unique to the island. These are based on the highest terrain points, before considering mountains, large rock formations or steep pillars. The in-game HUD will let you know whether your current claim flag is in a valid location. If your claim flag is not in a valid location, when attempting to place a new one you will receive HUD feedback informing you whether a spot is valid or not. Players will have approximately a month (Mid/Late November) to reposition their flag to a new location. We'll provide a more specific date closer to the patch which changes this. When placing the flag at the new spot, it will automatically destroy the old claim flag and transfer the inventory into the new flag. - Unofficials can activate this setting by changing the following config in their game.ini: MaxSettlementFlagZ = 999999 (default, which means FlagZ can be placed at 99999 z height above the per-island specific height). This is an offset value, if you adjust this, it will use the per-island specific max height + the offset. For example, making it 3000 will look for the highest 'legitimate' location on an island, and then add an additional 3000 z to that height to determine the flag's maximum location. The following game.ini config can be used to destroy all invalid claim flags, please be advised that this cannot be reversed once done: bDestroyInvalidSettlementClaimFlags=true - Fixed a bug which prevented Unofficial Servers on Xbox from being able to see the map v400.63 (Server Only) - Online Players (no changes towards offline or NPC Crew) can only contest flags (defending or attacking) when in one of the following states: > When a player is grounded (e.g walking on the ground) > When a player is seated (e.g sitting in a chair) > When a player is riding a creature (This means player states such as climbing ladders/picks, gliding, etc will no longer contest flags) - Contesting flags can only happen when a player is above -300 on the z-axis (basically, above the ocean/sea level) - Code change for client compatibility v400.62 - Voice chat fixes - Fixed a bug that prevented you from being able to modify the radius-checks for Yelling, Whispering, and Talking. - Fixed a bug related to locking on v400.61 - Fixed 2 client side crashes that could occur on server-load or transition v400.60 - Fixed description on song "A Mockatoo Once Told Me" - Dynamic nameplate scaling enabled on ships - Fix for NPC crew members occasionally missing the accordion visually in their hands v400.59 - Fixed forge giving graphite instead of base coal - Fixed typo in Pistol Steady Aim skill. - Very tall character's head is no longer cut off in the inventory view - NPC Crew Accordion: npc's can equip accordion and play songs("loaded" on accordion or first in inventory) using multi-use option "Play Song" song is consumed after start, buffs will be applied after first loop of song is completed song will loop until "Stop Song" option is selected from multi-use v400.58 - Fixed a bug which prevented silos from paying/feeding crew on Lawless Servers - Fixed a bug which caused ground clutter to flicker on Xbox v400.57 - Added missing ceiling when building ramshackle sloop with vendor in Freeport - Enabled Revolver reload mini-game - Fix: When you use the map camera while piloting ship, the compass won't hide from the view - Added missing Forest dye craftable to grill - Changed salted fish stack size from 30 to 50 - Moved pipe engram into pipes folder - Applied treasure gold multiplier buff to: floatsam/aodloots/shipwrecks - Lawless regions on officials should no longer show any "island points" on the map. - Beds on cooldown are now visible (it will indicate when a player can spawn on them) v400.56 - Fixed a bug which causes your map to be black with HDR enabled on Xbox v400.54 - Volumetric fog and ground clutter improved and enabled for Xbox One (and Xbox One S) - Fixed a bug where the shift key would stop responding on Xbox - Fixed a bug which would cause the camera to always be selected when pulling out your map with a gamepad - Fixed a bug which causes your map to be black with HDR enabled on Xbox - Enabled multiple client-side options for players to disable HUD/UI clutter - You can now fill water barrels directly from waterspouts - Improved Army of the Damned animation on Xbox One and Xbox One S - Right bumper now cycles between two inventory UIs - R3 now toggles use states (for example light fires) again - Fixed a bug which made navigating between rows in two separate inventories reset location - Fixed a bug where some fantasy creatures weren't tamable on Golden Age servers - Lawless Servers now check for structures (at a small radius) before spawning folliage to prevent trees/rocks/bushes from spawning inside bases. - Fix to destroy sunken ships when last structure is removed - Added HUD callout on handheld map to re-center on players - Fixed a server-side crash for Modded Servers which have modified their loot tables v400.51 - Fixed structure tiling textures. Hello !! I'm HANABI, a French player that is actually settled on the EU PvE SERVEUR "Siren's Call" so i already apologize for my approximate English (Take some fresh water on your eyes if they're burning too much). As an ADMIN of a rather well populated French Discord, i come here with a request from our PvE community and probably a lot of other people in a lot of different countries that also play on PvE servers. So this topic will have for objective to get enough upvotes to be noticed by the Devs so we're gonna make-up to one voice, but a strong one !! INFO : This topic is also translated in French for my French maties that have issues with English (God Bless our negative ability to learn other languages). Me and my crew are playing since day one, so we seen everything that happened to the game, first day was a total bloody mess for everyone but we still managed to play and get started the 24th of December, basically day two for us in Europe ... What a BLAST IT WAS !! Luck was also with us because we managed to find a little free spot on an Island in the L-10 Cell, but honestly something tilted in my mind more than anything else : Is there a limit to how much claim we can put down ? So we tried and ... It was totaly infinite. After this little test was done we broke the useless claims to let people get settle on our little ugly island (Yes, it is very ugly) and we're actually running with only 2 claims, we litteraly take no space on the island compared to other people but i'm gonna talk about that a little later in this long topic. NOW !! It's time to get to the real fun, but i'm sure a lot of people reading this post will already understand what the issue is on the PvE servers. The first problem with the actual claiming system is simple : It's totaly infinite and even a solo player can put as many flags as he wants, so if he decide to be alone on his island, he can totaly be and prevent every other player to even put a little brick or foot on HIS proprerty. What is the problem with that ? First arrived, first served, right ? RIGHT ? Before you answer, i'm gonna instead ask another question : What would happen if everyone was like this guy and took the entire island for themselves ? Not even need to respond but i'm still gonna do it !! The answer is : Only a few people will be able to play and enjoy the game while every other person will just have to fuck off and stop playing because ... No claim, no base ... No base, no ship ... No ship, no game, no nothing !! It's basically : FUCK YOU !! Now, you're just gonna disconnect and refund the game because it's impossible to play it (SO FUN !! That wasn't in the trailer tho). I'm sure you can feel the anger i'm actually expressing but it's the same rage as everyone else who experience this kind of behavior and sailed for hours !! HOURS !! HOURS !! TENTH OF HOURS because they can't find a little INCH of unclaimed territory !! That's the entire point of this topic : We're directly asking the Devs to change the claiming system for PvE servers ... It can't be the same as PvP servers, because there is no way for anyone to control the abusive claims (It's possible on PvP since you can destroy everything and take the territory for you after you won the battle, but it's not the case on PvE and will NEVER BE). The PvE experience MUST and HAVE TO be relaxing, we're not playing to be stressed, we just want to experience the beauty of the game and it's content, but it's impossible since you need LAND to be able to do it !! At this point, it would be better if the claiming system was totaly deleted from the PvE servers and replaced by the ARK territory control system (Aka the Pillars or the Foundations), because they cost ressources to be crafted and you need a lot of them to secure a big area plus you're preventing the ressources from respawing so you're losing a lot in the trade, but with the actual Claim system of ATLAS, you lose NOTHING. There is answers about this issue and here they are : 1 - Delete the actual CLAIM system and replace it with the ARK territory control system (Foundations + Pillars, basically every structures and prevent ressources from respawning in those areas). 2 - Change the number of CLAIM flags people can put down (1 per character, with modified requirements for companies and the list is down below). 1 player in company = 1 FLAG 2 players in company= 1 FLAG 3 players in company = 2 FLAGS 4 players in company = 2 FLAGS 5 players in company = 3 FLAGS But it can also change when the companies get bigger and bigger with a capped amount after a said amount of players get in the same company. So, caped at 10 people in the same company : 5 FLAGS AND THAT'S IT !! You will never be able to place more flags than that and it's really enough, i think we can even reduce the number of flags for 10 people at 4, without any problems). 3 - Get the same system as above but change the radius of a claim FLAG to 70 foundations (Yep, i tested it and a claim flag is actually 50 foundations radius so 100 foundations total diameter). Then change the number of claim flag per company and per person. For 3 people you can make it so they can only place 1 and 6 people can only put 2, it'll be MORE than enough and will prevent abusive assholes that destroy every possibility of landing on an island. ANYWAY !! That's for sure, the CLAIMING SYSTEM NEED CHANGES, and when i mean CHANGES, it's BIG CHANGES and we need them quick !! REALLY QUICK because a lot of people are really angry because they can't play the game like it was promised and they're gonna leave. I see in every cell i travel, the same messages : "Can't claim anywhere, sailed for 9 hours" "Sailed for 15hours, didn't find any claimable land, can't even put a little claim flag anywhere" Me too i sailed for 9 hours today !! I didn't find any free spot in a total of 15 CELLS !! 15 CELLS !! (Because we want to travel and go elsewhere, but it's taken everywhere else). That's the end of the English part of this topic, i'm asking to you, the DEVS ... I know you work hard and god !! I love your work, you're just crazy dudes, but you need to change that or the ship will sink ... And it will sink rapidly if nothing is done. PS : There is a screen shared by one of my maties, this island is controled by only ... 4 PEOPLE !! 4 PEOPLE IN AN ISLAND THAT BIG !! HOW CAN YOU EVEN ALLOW THAT ? TIME FOR THE FRENCH PART OF THE TOPIC !! That's the end of my topic, i just wanna to get this game as good as possible and it can become ULTRA SUPER MEGA good, trust me Devs, your game can rock so much if you listen to us, so do it ... We, player know more than anyone what we want and what can be done for the best of this game. So !! You (Readers and Members of the forum) can support this topic and send the links to everyone, we need to make the PvE servers change ... NOW !! Or it'll be too late !! THUMBS UP THE TOPIC !! Talk with me, talk with everyone about that and let's change the entire world for the better

Sorry if this has been discussed but I did try to search. - I was wondering is it possible to add a road map to on the website/forums to what the team is currently working on for future updates/patches? Short term/long term goals? Thanks!

I'd like to know what dumbass dev thought it was a genius idea to let one person claim and whole island to themselves? (unlimited claiming flags, smart)... There had been 4 islands so far owned by one company and one man playing solo... now we have to jump onto the island, spend in hour sitting there to claim a small piece for our self then do it all over again to expand. Fix this shit. Its simple. Make it so one person can only claim one flag period. The larger your company, the more land you can claim. done and done. You may have to increase the current flag size as it is a little to small. But do those two things and fix the god damn problem now.

So I have seen a lot of false information lately on the forums about how taming works and how the systems are broken and just a lot of complaints about how it works as a whole. While I don't like all the aspects of it I have tamed a few animals without too many problems and will explain how I did so to help you. So for the first thing about taming you have to unlock the beastmastery tree and then the taming skill in order to tame. There is three levels to the skill and certain creatures require certain levels. For instance a bunny or chicken is Taming 1 and a wolf is Taming 2. Alright so now you've got the skill and are ready to tame something but how do you go about doing it? Well there is two different kinds of Taming that work different and require different things from the user. These two methods are passive taming, and Bola taming. Passive taming just like in Ark is pretty damn easy. You place the item required for taming in the last inventory slot of your hotbar and walk up to the animal with the required taming skill and just press e. It'll now display a taming complete bar under the ui for the creature as well as some other stats. It'll also trigger a cool down in which you must wait before feeding the animal the item again. Do this however many times is required and you will tame the creature. Examples of passive tames I can think of are : Bunnies, Chickens, Female Cows, and the little monkeys. Bola taming is the other type of taming and this one has the most complaints/misinformation about it. Many people don't understand how this system works and I see people post on the forums saying it's broken etc etc. That's not true so please stop saying it. Now Bola taming itself is hard. Much harder than any taming I did in Ark and requires a lot of patience and typically a lot of death. My recommendation is to create a taming pen in which you lure the animal into and close a gate behind so it cannot escape. The walls should have window holes which can be built by going to place a wall and pressing t to change type of wall. Once you have got the animal in the pen to tame it you must lower it's health to the point where it is "entrapable" via the Bola. Typically it's when the animal is in the orange health of it's health bar. You can double check by selecting the Bola from your hotbar and aiming at the creature. It'll display text in green that says "Entrapable" if you can Bola the creature. Once you are able to you hold down left click to spin the Bola and let go when you want to throw it at said animal. (If you built a taming pen you can throw it through the window at the animal) Alright so now you have got the Bola on the animal and it's on the ground and a timer that says "Bola escape in: xxx" this indicates when the animal will break out of it's Bola and recover roughly half of it's health. While the animal is bola'd you must walk up to it and with the item required to tame in your last hotbar press e just like passive taming. Things to note on this however is that unlike passive taming the animal will fight back. He will bite at you and knock you back if you get too close to the head. The easiest way to avoid this is to go behind its head where it can't attack you. Now once you feed it once it'll trigger the same stuff as passive tame with the ui and the cool down. Continue to feed it and eventually it'll escape the Bola. Once it escapes you must damage it to "Entrapable" range again and Bola it once more and rinse and repeat. Some examples of animals that require this method are: Wolves, Bears, Lions and Bulls. For the current list of animals I know how to tame or have tamed it is as follows. If you guys discover more animals and how to tame them or want me to explain further please ask. I will attempt to keep this list updated. Current tameable animals we know of: Rabbit - passive tame with carrots Cow - passive tame with rushes Bull - Bola tame with rushes Wolf - Bola tame with Bone Lion - Bola tame with Prime meat Tiny monkey - Passive tame with berries Chicken - Passive tame with Berries Pig - Passive tame with Maize Horse - Bola tame with Sugar Cane Bear - Bola tame with Honey

Just this early is already a lot of the world claimed, In several grids is their already quite no land to claim unless you want to contest it. I think you need to drastically reduce the amount of land a single player can claim. If a single grid is intended for 100+ players then should it be impossible to claim more then 1% of the landmass by a single player. Or if this is not what you want to implement, then give me the option to run this in single player. I want to build a base and I want to have a shipyard(don't want to say on a raft forever). But this requires land, 1 claim area is all i need but extremely frustrating to get in the current game.

Yep, Mix that with a raft decaying in less then 6 hours, inland anchored. And the game is just impossible to progress. I have nothing left to do in the game. There is no land to build a bigger ship or a home, There is no way to keep a raft alive if you dare have a job or even SLEEP. It's just pointless. I play PVE for enjoyment, If I want to fight other players I'll play on a PVP server. They should have said PVE still has to be trolled by other players. I would have avoided the game completely. Not here to waste my time with 12 year old's and nolifers.

On the US PVP server - I3 E5 L5 G6 M10 A11 D12 F12 and M12 are down. L5 is actually locked up, and shows 0/150 total. Some of these - like L5 and I3 have been down for hours. People who are subject to decay are going to lose their boats for not being able to repair them while the time is counted as passing. I find it hard to imagine that wildcard - the publishers of ARK do not have ops staff available 24/7 for this kind of thing? I mean not to sound judgy but as an ops guy, having your platform unavailable to paying customers for 6-7 hours is not really imaginable.

After almost a Week, wasting 3 hours a day chasing and killing and using 100s of bolas. I managed to capture and tame a horse! Now I don't see many people in forums saying they have so I'm gonna say I'm the first one to tame one! Also, the wagon and carriage has no bonus, its just a skin. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a practical appliance for different saddles?

I know the start of this "Early Release game" was a rough one for many even if you are an experienced ARK player. But all of that aside once you get through the 5 or 6 rafts you lost to game attrition or server problems. You finally make it out of port and on your way. Only to sail for hours and hours and see nothing but red from the hordes of large companies and their land grabbing. The concept is cool, but PVE is not PVP and building more permanent homes is something of a must. That being said if you cant lay down roots what is the point of playing and sailing to yet another island only to find 656 Sloops and all red claims yet again!!!!!!!!!!!! Please fix this glaring issue.

It would be a good thing if a company could only claim 1 island on the entire map. Making it so people actually need to trade stuff with people that are on islands with different resources. But if they want to do that they should think about resources spread out fairly. Not that 1 island has way more handy resources than the other. If I want to make a bed and 1 island only has wood and the other has wood and fiber...

I am going to save you your time and energy as I have spent 16+ hours a day relaunching the game thinking I could get in. I did get into the game on the second day and played for about 3 hours. When I tried to log back in I always got stuck on "PrimalGameData_BP" "Host Connection: Lost/timed out connection to host" What I have Tried that DID NOT work: Relaunching Game and choosing all available options Verifying Game Reinstalling Game Reinstalling Windows VPN from every corner of the world Opening ports on router that other friends that can log in have open Resetting Modem Bought and tried 3 different ISP's Installing game on 4 different PC's and repeating all of the above on each PC Mobile tethering Direct connect to main server + every other server available (+connect IP) Turning off firewall + antivirus What I have Tried that DID work: Giving my steam info to a friend who WAS able to log in on his own character. LOW AND BEHOLD HE WAS ABLE TO LOG IN ON MY CHARACTER AND TELEPORT AROUND AND DO SHIT. I had him spawn me at companies new base and tried to log in again and no luck, Idc if i get banned for account sharing I cant even log in anyway. I have verified that my pathfinder is perfectly fine and playable. Every single thing you could think of or seen on reddit I have tried AND more. I have asked in discord and tweeted + steam and I get ZERO response, This is THE BIGGEST issue in the game and grapeshot do not have the DECENCY to acknowledge the specific issue, and would rather leave thousands of players relaunching the game over and over again thinking they have a chance to get in until they realize its been 16 hours later. There is absolutely ZERO excuse for the way they are leaving customers left in the unknown with zero statements or an acknowledgement. So, if you are willing and have someone you trust that can in fact get into the game you can learn like I did that it isnt a character stuck issue. There are no servers that are down. You just cannot connect because Grapeshot is preventing you from connecting, and do not have the pair of balls to say it.

Claims need to be limited to 1 per character, with a maintenance cost. In addition after so many hours if the clay. Isn't built on, it should expire. We've spent 14 hours now sailing, and found no claimable islands. players are claiming everything they come across, and it's then never used. I would also recommend adding another PvP and PvE server cluster to each region worldwide. No need to pack in so many players.

I've been playing pretty loyally ever since launch, and here are a few of my suggestions and feedback for you guys. Nutrition This is the most frustrating thing I have ever encountered in any video game. The vitamin system is too punishing. If you're going for realism it's not realistic. I do not have to really balance my food groups in real life, and going outside is enough to keep me health! On a serious note, the vitamin system in Atlas is something akin to what I would see on some extreme weight loss show. "Come on everyone five more squats, and then we're going to eat twenty fish, ten fruit, five pounds of deer, and five bowls of veggies. This will keep us super healthy as we balance our food groups, calorie intake, with our calorie burning prowess! Keep on pushing, now squat two three four, push two three four, twerk two three four. Let's go! Do you feel the burn flowing through your body yet?!" Is what the vitamin system in Atlas makes me think of. No, I did not want to join an extreme workout regimine, and it's just so time consuming. Food also spoils extremely fast, so sailing with some friends and storing food? Forget it, take 5 beds and respawn when you get low vs calorie counting on Atlas. Predators They are everywhere, all the time, and you're constantly getting gang banged by a pack of snakes, crocs, yetis, wolves, lions, cyclops, etc. Then if you survive taking five feet, in another ten steps there's an alpha whatever that's level 200+ there to one to two shot you depending on your level. If you're going for realistic (judging from the vitamin system) please take a look at the african ecosystem. There's twenty million zebra to a pride of twenty lions. I wouldn't mind running into five wolves on an island if those were the only five wolves on the island. Or ten lions if they were the only ten lions on the island. But it's like we find one cow, sixty wolves, and twenty snakes instead. I would like to see instead personally, six cows, two wolves, one to two snakes on a small island, and scaling numbers to match the size of the island. Now managing the vitamin system as well as the hoard of aggressive predators make survival a chore. New Flag System (Suggestion) This will help support my following bullet point on claiming. Anyways the suggestion is as follows: each company can build one claim flag that you set somewhere and you build around it, and it automatically claims all the land around the building to the water. (So an entire island) Each company can only have one Claim flag, and therefore only one island. When the flag is destroyed the claim on the island is destroyed. This would stop people from stealing everyone's island when they go to sleep. I also propose using Dark & Light's house seal system with the flag. You stick gold in the flag and in return it provides and aura that protects your buildings, ships, and tames from being damaged, claimed, and the like while it is powered. This stops people from waking up and having -nothing- and having to restart when they log back on. For all of Dark & Light's faults, this is the one thing they did right. How you deactivate the protect is in the next bullet point. Claiming This is going to go for both land & ships. The timers for claiming on the PvP server need to be increased. On the PvE server it is managed by decay which is great, so I won't touch on the PvE server much if at all here. But as I said in another thread, PvP should be fun, fair, and balanced. What is balanced about going to sleep for the night waking up, and having your entire base and ship gone because people came and claimed it in 30 minutes? That's not PvP at all, it's just PvE since most people like to watch to see when people are active the most before doing things like that. Now a lot of people like to fall back on: "We're pirates, we should be allowed to steal your stuff!" You my kind reader are absolutely right! You are pirates...PIRATES. Big ships, boom boom, sword fights, oh yeah. Not NINJAS. Not sneak sneak, creep creep, toss ninja star...oh yeah! No more of this coming under the shadow of sleep, slitting everyone's throats, and stealing all of their stuff. People had to work for what they have, you need to work to earn it. On the PvP server, claiming land should be done by a War system like on Dark & Light. They come throw a flag at your island, "arr matey we're going to steal your crap" and you get 8 hours from the flag throw to prepare and then 8 hours of war time where they can try to wipe your base. Therefore it forces the attackers to actually PvP on a PvP server instead of trying to PvE steal all of your hard work when you need to rest. Eight hours should be enough for at least someone in the company to log on and see that they have an attack coming and therefore tell the others in their company. This would encourage PvP, PvP battles, Ship battles, etc. Where both sides can lose stuff, instead of one side getting gibbed because we're humans that need sleep, or we're in a different time zone.

Lets face it, once you have a bed down, death becomes a easy way to refill food and water and vitamins. Death shouldnt ever be a desirable mechanic. It doesnt necessarily have to be super harsh, but you should never want to use it for easy transport or easy food/water. (Making cooking kinda pointless)
  17. 3 points
tbh the vitamin system is to much, it is really hard to get started when you need to get every single food resource in the game to get away from your starting island. it is also empty of fish since everyone needs it so bad, you cant use fishing rod since there is no sap/suger around on the island because everyone needs it. it really needs a change or removed.

Basically i am a pve player with a small group (3-4 poeple) and there is nothing to do on official servers becuase of the mass claiming on all islands spent about 8-9 hours today and all i found was an unreasonable amount of torrential tornado's and clans claiming all ilands nowhere to ever build and get upgraded, so i am no beginner to early acess games but given the sucess ark has been why are they so slow to respond on the steam discussions? The pve players are being shunned once more as in many of the ''survival'' games thesedays i for one am insanely tired of spending lots of time for zero progress, given it is in early acess i assume they will fix it but they are WAY to slow to respond to the community. The official discord is a joke, as only trolls and toxic humans are there arguing over who is the biggest douche and knowitall. So i may be just whining but i have met amazing people in the official server that share my sentiment. Thanks for reading a whining complaint this game will be great but not if it continiues and ignores the needs of the community especially for answers. as it stands right now i have 29 hours in the game and most of that have been sailing finding islands that cant be landed on due to being claimed by others. TLDR: big clans claim all islands and makes the game unfun for small groups that just wants to build a little base in a area they feel content in, also their discord is awfull.

I disagree with you.... The fact there is no sap in the region where people need sap is GOOD design... forces travel this is a good thing... The lack of fiber is also a good thing... More reasons for trade and travel are good things!!! Now if they would go over the other regions and put some shortages in there of things that ARE in the tundra zone for example we will be making the ever so slightest way towards a good game!

Just for understanding for myself: Why are all of you so mad about that "It's an ARK RESKIN"-thing? Yeah, I love ARK and have over 1900 hours playtime. I bought ARK in the very early days with a discount. In my memory it was way more buggy and unstable than ATLAS now is (of course, besides the server connection issues). But with this playtime, ARK has really paid off for me. So I personally don't mind taking them assets and stuff from a really good and working game to built on, especially when they say that some things are only placeholders for now and will be replaced in the future. So, if Wildcard thinks there's more to the game than just for a DLC, then why complaining about it? The price of ATLAS is normal for a DLC (about 30 euros), a "normal" game costs around 60 euros ...

Ive spent the past almost 10 hours sailing from k12 to e5. Ive used the Interactive map to guide my way so that I can reach the most islands. Im currently sitting at 174/1717 atlas discoveries (Most are just jumping from raft to shore the for find) and EVERY SINGLE ISLAND that Ive come across has been claimed. One island was claimed by A SINGLE PLAYER. I counted 37 flags before I stopped counting and went back to my raft. I have 30 hours played already, and im still on a fucking raft. This needs to be changed ASAP or the game will die.

I’m currently sitting at 15 hours of “play time” in Atlas, and have never been able to join a server, so I hope that shows you my dedication here. I’ve been working tirelessly (even through Christmas Day, while you guys were off) to do troubleshooting for you guys, and so far there has been no acknowledgement that you guys are even looking at any of the topics I've posted. So here I am, once more, ready to outline all of the troubleshooting I’ve done in the HOPE that I can be of help solving this connectivity issue. I’ll also attach pictures so you can SEE the steps I've taken. If you want me to do further testing, PLEASE CONTACT ME as I am an adult with over 30 years of technical knowledge and am ready and willing to help out over Twitter, Facebook, Discord, Skype, or whatever. THIS ISSUE DOES -NOT- RELATE TO THOSE WHO WERE ABLE TO PLAY AND THEN TRIED TO SWITCH SERVERS. THIS ISSUE CONCERNS PEOPLE WHO HAVE ----> NEVER <---- BEEN ABLE TO CONNECT TO A SERVER. (they are 2 different issues) The main key symptom here, which all seem to have in common, is the fact that they have no background image (picture 1) on their Atlas Map when viewing the server list. In addition, no matter what server they try to join it will always say “Connection Timeout”. Here is a list of the basic troubleshooting I attempted at first; - Disabled Windows Firewall - Note: AntiVirus/Spyware doesn't exist on my PC - Forwarded Ark ports to my PC (7777-7782, 9999-10000) - Forwarded Steam ports to my PC (27015-27030, 37015) - Set my PC into my router DMC - Eliminated my router from the network (PC wired direct to bridge-mode internet modem) - Switched to my Onboard NIC - Performed a file verification (1 file fixed) - Performed a clean uninstall of Atlas and reinstalled - Removed all virtual Network Interface Devices (hamachi, etc) - Continued to update Atlas as the new patches rolled out - With every Atlas patch I tried to connect to 3 Freeport and 3 Lawless servers in each EU/NA zone, both PVE and PVP. After none of that worked I started thinking maybe it was an internet-related routing issue. I performed some server investigating (picture 2) and found that the connections to NA servers are being passed through Europe. Strange, but whatever. I then performed a trace attempt to see if my connection to those servers (picture 3) has any problem. I appear to have found some connectivity issue. The trace seems to stop as soon as I hit an IP address in Frankfurt, and goes no further. I then attempted to use NorseVPN to connect to a VPN server in Germany, to see if I could connect through that. When in Atlas I had the same experience as if I wasn't using the VPN. The map image was black and I received a constant "Connection Timeout" message no matter which server I attempted to join. My brother is located in another city, London Ontario, and has no issues playing so I used NorseVPN to go through a server in Toronto and, again, it didn’t allow me to connect to any Atlas servers. In addition, I was still unable to see the background image on the server map. This is where my troubleshooting has, unfortunately, ended. I have no idea what else I can try on my end but, AGAIN, I am completely willing to take instructions from the Developers to attempt to nail down why this issue is happening to THOUSANDS of players. I urge you to set a higher priority on these connection issues. The ability to NOT connect to your servers is going to lead more players to refund their purchase than simply if they experience in-game bugs.

It's broken right now and everyone knows it. It's basically just pillar spam from Ark but a feature. Here is how it needs to work. 1. You need a skill to build a flag. This isn't difficult to unlock but would need maybe level 10 or so before you can reach it. 2. You can build 1 flag, and it takes materials. Nothing too costly, maybe a few hundred wood, stone and fibers. You can only place 1 flag down and if you have one you cannot place another. 3. When the claim is placed down, it gains experience as you do things (like ships do when you use them). If you're in the claim it gets bonus experience. 4. When your claim levels up, you can place down 1 more claim flag. But this flag has to be inside of your current claim. Each new flag you build costs more resources and levelling up your claim takes longer. A small claim might take an hour to level up once, while a big claim might take a day and a huge claim could take a week or more. 5. For someone to steal your claim, they must destroy your flags then build their own flag and start their own claim. Destroying a flag means they must go up to it and hit it until it breaks (shoot it with a cannon ETC). Protecting them with walls and such will be important. Additionally, when your claim levels up, you can select between expanding it with a new flag, or fortifying it which does not let you place a new flag but makes all your current flags harder to destroy. In PVE instead of destroying flags, players must counter claim them. This is something they build and place inside of a claim, it will slowly damage one flag (the closest to it) until it's destroyed. Only one counter claim can be built and placed at a time but the owner of it can pick it up and move it around after using it (but it'll need repairing). To stop a counter claim, the owner of the original claim must be on their claim, this will stop their flags being damaged, slowly heal their flag and shield it for 30 minutes from further damage.

This really does need to be addressed. Currently if you're a solo player, or even a small group (2-4), it's impossible to get started. As others have said, PvP should be a feature, not an absolute. I'd like to have the chance to actually get established somewhere. As soon as you find an island, it's already completely claimed up, so you can't setup a home there unless you can defend a flag capture for 8 hours against a huge alliance.

Hey guys. There is a huuge bug where trees, Metal nodes are not spawning after they are harvested in the picture below you can see this place was a forest full of trees and rocks, after a clan came the stuff would not spawn back and i cant progress because of lack of metal Thanks alot dev team for the quick fixes but this needs to be on the top of your list! *EDIT* many other people are posting this bug on steam or here in the forums

I dont care if you are brand new or 2k hours in Ark, death should never be a reward. Right now if you are starving, just die, dehydrated, just die, low on vitamins, just die....there is no deterrent unless you dont have a bed nearby.
  28. 2 points
You should also not abuse the system of claiming by putting 20 flags on the island you're on to block people from settling in

Just stand on it and chill, that’s pretty much all.

Problem: Ok so perhap there is alot of us or just happens.... But the thing i For any starting Group now ARE Royalty FUCKED. So i did some math here... IT takes a max of 15 clanmember to take over an island. correct me if im wrong here 15 players X 700 island = 10500 player. So this mean if a MEGA SUPER MEGA tribe of 10500. or more can Take over an entire server. Or let break this down 10500/15... that 1 per clan per island. If that clan only has 15 members. and no alliance. IF a new group were to start now there would be no room... oh and I forgot to take out Lawless and freeport... Let see... Im not gonna do anymore math but this mean that About 7000ish or less will have a land to use And what are the rest of the player gonna do about it... they cant. Because there is no land to build shipyard to progress into the game... you know building up a pirate aramada. that mean that 33,000 player per server will be useless fodder for 7000 player that has a land claim. Solution. A: Limit claim flags by clan 1-3 in respective by 50 per member in a clan. but 150+++ is only 3 land claimed. Thus Force a choice on clan where they want to settle. And allow internal battle on an island or more alliances. Solution B: Allow islands to be claim Place preset claim flag in a way that lets user claim part of the island SO an island would have A B C as a preset and while protecting that its allow some room for other player to place a base unclaimed to form up an army and attack. Think of it like a foot hold for an attack. And must be there to defend. IF you devs are STUPID to realized that you just made a Non material cost Pillar spam that Plaque Most servers. TO have freedom is to lose freedom. To have Controlled freedom is to have a balanced happy medium. Ive been saying this for decades now ... A controlled Land claim is MUCH better then a Unrestricted land claim because at the end of the day you want player to play... If there is no one to contest with then you will lose FAR more player even with those that own every land claim will get bored because there no pvp action... no one has resource to play with. To contest land claim should be hard but it shouldnt force Players to have to resort to such tatic. This isnt about 'Get good' as much as it is preserving land availability to others so that we can play and test. In fact on my private server Conan exiles. We have controlled land claim and everyone is happy. We had some salty players but Rules are in place for a reason and that is to protect Certain Clan from overtaking everything and allowing other new players to come in and have fun. At this rate you wont have any new player to come in because it will be all be claim and no more can play. This new claim contesting is not going to work i guanteed that it will create more problem then its worth.

Hey, I have a problem. I'm playing with my bf in one room at one internet and we were playing yesterday in EU PVE...and everything was okay. But after some hours it didn't work. We can't join none of official servers. EU PVE isn't working for us. But EU PVP and NA PVP, PVE....works. And unoff. servers works too. Do you know, where can be problem? Why we can't play now on off EU PVE? My brother in the same village can join EU PVE as yesterday....

I can't say no to this fast enough. This is a PvP server, which means there's already a huge company going around claiming every island that they can even though they cannot and won't build on it. They simply destroy everyone's everything because they can. Same way with ships. I'm on the opposite branch, all timers should be 24 hours or more. Why? Because it's a PvP server. If you're going around when people are sleeping stealing or claiming their ship that's just PvE, and the intention isn't to PvP at all. Now add mega companies onto your new timers. That's 20 minutes of griefing a smaller company trying to get started and stealing their boat, so now they don't have a means of transportation, no island, no base, no tames, no nothing. Did the huge company of twenty with a galleon, pistols, and other junk need to attack the four man company that just finished their own group built ship for the first time? No, not at all. So why? Just to grief. PvP should be fun, balanced, and not frustrating for both sides. Waking up and your ship is gone no matter where you park it? Frustrating, not fun, not balanced. Miss me with those 20 minute timers. 24 hours to give people time to respond, same way with land claims.

Honestly, I want this bug fixed but we all deserve our SHIPS back. After our previous experiences we won't find another spot to build a schooner in such a small amount of people without getting drive-by from crazy Russians. We worked night and day on it for 2 days ... We won't come back to this game otherwise knowing this can happen without any support from ATLAS devs/admins.

Since there are regions where all ship sunks, this should be a thing taken care of fast.

If some of the forum topics and global chat in game, as well as my own experience over the past 10-15 hours, there are a number of features that are in need of balancing or need more thought put towards them. These are my thoughts on a few topics. Food & Vitamin Systems: Both of these are probably the biggest obstacles for players to overcome. Both starting out and attempting to survive out beyond the starting Freeports. Hunger - The amount of food that the avatar needs to consume in order to not starve is tuned to high, and the Freeports would easily see all flora & fauna easily wiped out if it weren't for the high spawn rates. High spawn rate can stay since these are supposed to be where players start and are going to see high rates of harvesting. A player should not need to consume entire fields of berries or consume entire pigs just to survive for a day. Food should fill faster, with hunger not falling nearly as fast as it does. Cold weather further exacerbates this (burning more calories to stay warm), further punishing the player for not carrying around several stacks of food. Vitamins - This particular system has seemingly been nothing but frustration for players, based again on what the various communication channels have to say. It started with a great idea, to push the player towards eating a balanced diet. Vitamin deficiency issues however, like hunger, are far too harsh. The reverse of vitamin overdose is also true. I mentioned this in a previous thread, but the vitamin system minigame would serve better as a way of providing bonuses to the player instead of being yet another way to kill the player. Combat: Trying to hunt or fight off creatures is a pretty painful experience given how jerky the movements are for wildlife. I don't know if this is due to bad animations or poor server resource management (more on that later), but this needs to be addressed since the gameplay loop for many players is going to involve fighting something. I don't know what combat is like against players since I've been playing on the NA PvE server, but I can't imagine it to be any cleaner than fighting the NPC's. Was absolutely a chore to fight a "Giant Bee" on another island in a Lawless Region since it was so small and had a poor animation/movement path, leaving little other recourse other than legging it. Larger creatures aren't much better with their goofy pathing when they're coming after you. Was absolutely messed up by a level 2 tiger because it was continually phasing in and out of existence and lunging silly distances because of how the terrain was sloped in small ways. World Ambience & Gameplay: This could very well sink the servers since it was a seeming challenge to get them where they are now. Freeports have the sounds already, so let's see some of it happening. Also would like to see NPC ships running around trading, conducting piracy, and patrols. Even EVE Online, which this game is being compared to, has four giant NPC empires that provide a network for players to push off from. Currently we're not really playing a Pirate game so much as post-cataclysmic survival game If I understood the lore correctly. Players being the content I totally get and appreciate. But the playerbase is in this position of being quashed before it can really get going due to a variety of bugs and balance issues with no support network to help, forcing players to start nearly at square one. As it is now, the official servers are harsh, unforgiving places where the game world must rely on the patience of players in order to be realized. A big ask in an Early Access title that's had a rocky start. Server/Region Travel: I've moved from one region to another and experienced going from dead of night to clear sky in the middle of the day. Syncing up the time might feel like it's low on the list of priorities, but when a survival game has warmth affect the player's hunger, and then vitamins by extension, it becomes really problematic when a journey that started at dawn is suddenly now at dusk because of the region server time differences. Server Management: I don't personally know a lot about server farms or game server management. Little bit with a paper slot server on Arma 3, but that's a whole different beast. It's a really cool idea to have 40,000 players able to inhabit the same map by connecting servers together. Claim territory, build settlements, sail the seas in search of treasure and adventure. Very romantic. It'll take awhile for hubs to become a thing in the game, as not even Jita 4-4 was built in a day. And therein lies the problem, we're not going to see huge towns or cities that are bustling with trade or activity due to the server capacities being capped where they are. Nor do I see huge fleet engagements being a thing without some serious optimization done to ensure both server and client machines are operating smoothly. As it stands, the playerbase should be expecting small settlements scattered around the world and not huge populations if the server capacity remains as it is. Those are my thoughts thus far. I'll likely add to this post as time goes on, or as issues get addressed.

So a clarification for people unable to get onto servers - The launcher button that claims you can change regions doesn't actually work. You can test this on a server that you can log in to. You will log into the same region you were last in. If your character is in a down/stuck region server you will get a failure to connect, because it's not actually changing your region it is trying to connect you to your old one. The only way to change regions that I am aware of presently is to die, and then at the death screen to choose to change regions. Obviously you can't die if you can''t load a region in which your character was last alive.

I've got the same issue on Kraken's Maw. My character is in M10 but I can't respawn, or log in. I'm not even allowed to spawn in any other areas. Please make it so you can choose to spawn in the Freeport zones, like fast travelling on beds. Not being able to play because you're in an area you're not allowed to spawn at, or log in to is really frustrating. Thanks for looking at this.

i agree with you SINBLOO ! =) We don't need an ark-like game, because we alrealdy have ark ^^ We just want to have pleasure on the sea and on the ground without thinking too much about drinking or eating. I hope we couldplay the game easier to spend more time to create our boat and fight the sea !

It's not even large tribes. I've found entire zones claimed by one dude. The way the system works, whoever got there first could spam an unlimited number of claims and make it a royal pain in the ass for anyone coming after even if they uninstalled the game and never looked back right after claiming.
  49. 2 points
It should and MUST be impossible to steal Things on PvE, this is the worst. A better solution is 1, Maybe 2 Claims per Player.
  50. 2 points
There's nothing unplayable about that. Take it from them. Claiming land is the whole point of the game... You realized you're in the PvP area right? I could see this being an issue in PvE.
