  1. The ghost ship is no longer a powerstone. They added a new island that gives you that stone. Beyond the 20% gold buff (well worth it since most maps on claimed islands you lose 20% to tax anyways) there isn't any real benefit.
  2. You need many, many more discovery points. Once you get enough to increase your max level cap, do treasure maps. Once you hit around 65ish the levelling slows waaaaay down and maps pretty much become your only viable way of levelling. Enjoy the grind, that is all there is.
  3. Taxes were indeed changed to be additive instead of subtractive to person farming. The only thing that is affected by the setting on the island is gold received by treasure maps. Resources harvested are not reduced to the person harvesting. You farm 1000 wood, you get 1000 wood, if at 20% the islands flag will get 200. If you do a map there for 1000 gold, you will get 800 and the flag will get 200.
  4. You are on PVE. If they drop a flag 10 minutes after you and it is outside the radius of your flag, then they will see your claim go through 10 minutes before them. The only way to stop the timer is to drop another flag within the radius of anothers already placed and counting down flag during a claim. Standing there does nothing. You drop you flag. Make sure someone stays within the radius for the full hour so the timer keeps ticking down, and that is it. They can run over, shout mean things at you, crawl around on the ground and bark animal noises, unless they drop a flag within the radius of yours, nothing happens. They can only have one claim flag on a island per company (not to say there are not ways around that). Each time they move their flag it costs the original amount to drop again (not really an issue since gold is/has been stupid easy for competent companies to get)
  5. Nope, there is no way to contest claims once the claim is done in PVE. However, if they allow the island to go into decay by not logging on(10 days), they will lose it no matter how much gold they have squirreled away in it. Contesting only occurs while you are actively claiming. If somone runs up and drops a flag in the radius of your dropped flag while you are waiting for the hour to count down (hit H to see radius) both flags timers will stop counting down till somone gives up. There are various tactics to get around this, but it so very rarely happens now, not really worth going into. So, if there is a shiny island that you want, all you can do is hope the current owners do as so many others have and move on to other ventures.
  6. 1. 30...with max efficiency the tame will end up a wild level 44. 2. Gathering and combat. 3. As Motik typed above. Tames can solo treasure maps when bred out. However crabs are the new meta atm, since they can jump to places that you might have to build ramps to for bears. 4/5. All good advice in the post above. There are several tools to find out where specific materials spawn. Most just give the grid, some give the specific island. For example, straw is only found in a couple zones around the edges of swamps. Try this, and have fun. https://exploreatlas.co.uk/explore/
  7. @Daesig You logged out in a freeport. As the mod told you in the other thread you made, it takes around 8 hours for a ship left there to decay enough to fill with water and sink. It is even faster in powerstone island zones. In the very beginning people would build rafts and starter schooners and abandon them. This caused massive garbage piles of ships blocking everything. Powerstones on Fountain of Youth runs were even worse. Add the fact that if you ever stepped on someone's raft/ship by accident you were stuck on it just floating (a broken fix for weight bombing that was their answer instead of fixing the underlying issue) and then lost anything you were carrying was not popular. The PVP crowd like to park all their boats there overnight as a "safe" zone to avoid the offline raiding that is prevalent there. And finally, there is a splash message that tells you constantly to not leave your boats there as "Freeports experience rapid decay."
  8. If you notice, this is a necro post from January back when very different systems were in place on PVE. You cannot claim abandoned ships in PVE anymore. You can unclaim them, and let other people claim them, but you cannot take over ships without someone first unclaiming them. The piracy ability does jack all on PVE. Every time you climb on that abandoned boat to check, you have been resetting the timer. Leave it alone and hope no one interacts with it for two to three weeks and it will go away. That is currently the only option in PVE.
  9. Nope. It is just rare. Check around the swamp edges, that is where I found it.
  10. When you have people who leave crap traps with no way to get trapped animals out, drop cookpits that take 40 days to decay everywhere, and various other trash structures all over and right in front of others access points, that is what you get. As these once a week warriors miss their 10 day deadlines, the spaces they occupied will continue to be pillared to stop people from rebuilding on them. As long as you have crap youtubers dropping channel advertisement billboards all over the place with no recourse, lawless will continue to be turned into parking lots. The chestthumper defense of "You're not the boss of me!" and the general fuck you attitude of a small percentage of players will continue to affect the majority until the system is changed on PVE.
  11. Nothing. They are supposed to disappear after two weeks of inactivity. Anecdotally it seems to be taking longer. If anyone boards it or interacts with it, it resets the timer. We have had a raft sitting on our beach that has been there since day one. Talked with one of the company members in Discord and he said "Yeah, I keep hopping on it to check decay and it is slowly going down." Had to send an @everyone to let them know, don't touch them, just let them sit there and they eventually go away. We had a ship get stuck under another members water house that was on pillars during a storm. Was totally stuck. Filed a ticket and a mod appeared the next day. Tried some mod magic, couldn't get it unstuck, so he scuttled it, gathered the materials, and put down a captains chest full of the resources and some storage lockers and informed the company that had gotten it stuck if they wanted their resources they needed to come get them. They never did. 10 days later the 3 foundations he had placed nearby decayed and we inherited some crap resources. If someone is obviously griefing you by parking boats inside your shipyards or trying to block access, screenshot and use the ticketing system to report it. Don't file tickets just because it messes with your harmony or is irritating as they will probably look at it and never respond. Any real issue though we have seen a 24-48 hour ticket response time the few times we have had to report something.
  12. Are you on PVE? Because once your structures have gone past the 24 hour timer on a claimed island the owners (new or old) can't demolish them. They always have the 24 hour timer for anything new you place down, but legacy structures are safe, as long as you are never gone for more than 10 days without rendering the assets in. If I lose my island claim for example, the next owners cannot demo any of my settlers stuff. They had planned to add the new owners can pay a fee and wipe the island option and it was immediately so unpopular it was pulled after a single weekend.
  13. They are from people who spawn the AOD with a map, then leave. The AOD are supposed to despawn when the person leaves the area, but don't. Either way, the mechanic is fucked, and with the track record this company has on addressing issues it won't be fixed soon. Be careful what you wish for, they will probably decide that fixing it is beyond their limited capabilities like speed sails and just remove treasure maps altogether.
  14. The treasure maps spawn points are static. A certain map for a certain level will always spawn in the same spot. Those that have claimed islands often get to know where they are and only build occupied buildings like barns and such over open water on the shore. Your base sits over a spawn. It will continue to happen. Don't like uninvited guests? Move. We often put down a small wood sign once we know where one is (doesn't affect the digging it up) that says "Treasure map spawn point, do not build here!", but since lawless is lawless, no one is going to pay attention to that anyways.
  15. If you don't render your assets in at least once every 10 days they disappear. This is to stop people just leaving trash all over every zone they visit that never disappears. If you didn't go back to your island for 10 days, the system automatically removed the foundations, which then destroyed everything above them, which then caused it to all fall onto the ground in bags, which then decayed 30 minutes later.
  16. Ship quality determines final max level of the ship. Durability on the shipyard determines max quality. 226% dura guarantees 200% quality, which is the current max. Your quality of planks, gunports, decks, cannons and so on determine the "hp" of the ship.
  17. Treasure maps. Anything over 20 should be good for mythic. Remember it isn't the grade of the shipyard that counts, it is the durability.
  18. The tag says PVE so none of those options are available to him. Cranking the tax to max (20%) does nothing to deter anyone. It is additive to the owner, not subtractive. If they harvest 1000 wood, they get 1000 wood, you get 200 thrown in the flag. If you miss the 24 hour window you are stuck with them till they decide to leave. Blocking them in via walls and other options can backfire also if the devs feel that the owners are griefing instead of the other way round.
  19. If you win the contest you claim the island. The other flag will decay over the next hour, but it does nothing to affect the outcome.
  20. Top of mountains is usual. Sometimes they can be found on the beach or regular spawns in artic near metal nodes on regular ground.
  21. If you are the island owner on PVE you have a 24 hour window to remove any newly placed structure. Miss that window and you are stuck with it. You have to go to the structure and there should be a radial option to demolish. You can't remove players or boats from your island, but if someone is obviously griefing by putting boats and structures up repeatedly to block or harass, screenshot it with the other company information visible, note the coordinates, and file a support ticket. It takes them a few days depending on the volume of tickets, but they do react eventually. The more documentation/evidence you provide the better your outcome. Do not name and shame by posting stuff about your situation on the forums, the mods don't like that much.
  22. They can place a flag anywhere on the island. If it isn't in your radius (check by hitting H for pc users) then your timer will continue to count down, as will theirs. Which is kind of stupid for them. If you had yours placed a second before them you will always win. People standing in the radius of your flag does NOT stop the timer on PVE currently. A company can have a single flag placed on an island at a time. If they pull up the other one to move it, they lose the gold fee and have to pay it again to place another.
  23. You don't in PVE. The option was included for a single weekend and once they realized what an excellent griefing tool they had given to the playerbase, was immediately pulled. You can still see the option on the radial, but it does nothing. Island owners can only destroy new structures placed on their islands for the first 24 hours. Anything that was there before you were the owner is grandfathered in. Same rules apply as in lawless, if they don't render the assets in for 10 days they go poof. As long as they keep coming back, you are stuck with their stuff for good. If you want to keep people off your island from placing trash, good luck, you are subject to the whim of whoever lands there. Most people will read a flag message that is broadcast as they land as to whether the island allows settlers or building. There is of course a percentage that say "YOU'RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME!" and will place stupid shit just to grief. If you plan on keeping spawn points clear and reducing clutter, prepare to patrol your island at least daily.
