  1. Because of this quote from the captains log The OP might think that they will implement a hard limit of 50 players per company for the Colonies playmode. There are no hard facts for this. It is just an assumption. .... I hope
  2. How much do I have to pay you to switch to EU PvP? :P
  3. I expect this to work like the old claim system. You place a flag anywhere inside the current claim so anywhere on the island and it starts contesting the island. You would have to build a tax bank to pay upkeep for your own flag. You need an attack base to defend your flag. And of course you should use a war token. Otherwise they could just demolish your stuff. Because as we know, a war token disables the build rules for an island. And then you have to attack them. I could imagine that the first flag does stay up as long as there is upkeep in the bank. So you just have to destroy their bank and wait 2 hours. Would be stupid to look for single people hiding somewhere on the island defending their claim by breathing. Source: My crazy mind
  4. That is what I call K.I.S.S (Kepp it simple & stupid)
  5. Thank you for opening my eyes emperor No, seriously! Look at it from the other point of view. Tell me just one reason to bully your slaves instead of taking care of them as good as possible. I can't see any reason except me being an a**hole OR they being an a**hole.
  6. I imagine the following scenario: It is between two fictional companies. The Alpacas and The Boomers. The Alpacas have claimed an island and are therefore owner of a settlement. They have a few companies as neutral on their land. They take care of them, everything is fine, no problems so far. Now the Boomers come with a Brig full of pillars and they start placing them in the water around the island. But the settlement people are clever and delete all of them in the 12 hour window. The Boomers are not amused. They want their pillars of eternity! So they come back in the middle of the night and place them again. Now they focus only on the harbors where ships are anchored. The 12 hours pass and the pillars of eternity are standing in all their glory preventing any anchored ship from sailing. Now here is my question: What do you gonna do about this once the 12 hours have passed since you can't attack underwater structures? It is not my intention to whine and cry. I really like the changes but this is something I don't understand so far. Have I missed one key feature that prevents this from happening? Or could you pillar spam shore lines and make them unusable? So will we get the structure upkeep mechanic everywhere? Will the pillars crumble? How does this work? In addition. If the upkeep structure works with a range so the structures don't have to be connected to each other to get upkeep. What prevents people from building the upkeep thing underwater?
  7. I want landlords! Seriously, that will be fun. If you don't like your landlord you have a lot of possible solutions. 1. Fight the landlord with all the other people on the island 2. Fight the landlord alone 3. Go to another island 4. Join the landlord 5. Give another alliance a war token as a gift, they might help you :D
  8. As they are now implementing the submarine with the deep trenches. How about a few floating islands? :D It is a powerstone PvE island i wouldn't mind it. But what don't want would be a seperation of the playerbase. Where all the lategame people hang out in the sky while everyone else is sailing as usual.
  9. Never played ARK but from a distance it seems that adding future tech on top of ARK didn't hurt. That would be a different story in ATLAS. The gameplay is different. It all evolves around sailing. And any tech that makes sailing useless would compomise the core gameplay of ATLAS. I highly doubt that we will get something beyond wooden ships. I bought this game fully knowing that it "could" happen. But I can't see where it would make sense. There is an airship in one of the promo pictures from atlas. It was shown at the beginning of the last stream. It complemented the Dragon. The dragon has a timelimit. It would otherwise break the game because you could get around the core gameplay for an unlimited amount of time. Also the devs once stated that they don't want to add too much tech like in ARK and wan't to keep the pirate fantasy as raw as possible.
  10. Another thought! This would actually make the piracy ability usefull in the first place. Because you can reduce the claim time by a few seconds every 30 seconds or so. But you have to be on the ship to activate. With the long claim times nobody would stand 4- 6 hours on a ship to use this mechanic. But if you are on the sea and fighting anyway you can make good use of this as it is right now. PS.: Don't forget to upvote if you want this discussed by more people thx
  11. Oh god. Imagine all thos zerglings would come and steal your ships I have a different idea. If you are interested, I already made a post for that But I really like the idea of taking other peoples ships. It would make the fights more interesting because you never know how it will end. Right now its pretty damn sure that one ship will sink.
  12. I formulated an idea about this a few days ago. If you like it, I would suggest to upvote this because its in the suggestion part of the forum
  13. I thought about boarding today and formulated my idea. The sad truth is that suggestions go down in all the toxic posts that came up lately to the OP: I would love more different ship types. Personaly I don't like any meta. but thats a different Story
  14. I am missing one key aspect of the pirate fantasy and that is stealing ships. Of course it would suck to come online and your ships are not only destroyed but even worse, they are stolen. So here is my idea: Every ship is claimable like it is now but with one change. If the ship is not anchored, the further away it is from any coastline the less time is required to claim a ship. So from the current default time of several hours down to 1 hour minimum if in open waters. If a claim occurs in open water the default of 1 hour is increased/decreased by +-10% for every crew member the defending group differs from the attacker. The moment a claim flag is placed on a ship it can't be scuttled and parts cannot be demolished. For example: If the defending ship has 5 crew member (npc, tame or player) and the attackers get on board with 5 members aswell it is evened out and the claim time will be 1 hour. If the attackers have 6 members on board. The claim time is reduced by 10%. (Of course the numbers are just an example more or less might be better/worse) So what does that mean? Finally we can board enemy ships and steal them. It would require a lot of skill and strategy. This would open up new strategies and possibilities for PvP and Roleplay. Your ships would still be safe in your harbor because of the insane amount of claim time. I have never seen a ship without crew in open waters. So it would bring a new aspect to PvP. Not only stealing a ship. But what about stealing it back? I would love to board enemy ships, fight on the deck, kill the crew to get an advantage over the other crew. If this is a viable strategy, it could change PvP fights. Would love to see rope shots for ballistas to actually attach your ship to the opponents (but that might be too much) So what do you guys think?
  15. It actually was. They announced a full wipe of the official network. Including the map and all characters. It will be a fresh start like on day 1. So no pillar packed characters. I hope I have understood you correctly... its pretty late for me though
  16. Well you could use one Alliance for other Settlements and one Alliance for the members of your own Settlement. But that gets complicated/impossible the moment you get a second island. I think it would be nice to have something in between enemy and ally that is ONLY for Companys on your Settlement. "Settler" would be neat press [E] "Invite to Settlement" They appear as yellow, not red and thats it! becoming an ally is precious because of the limit. I agree that you want companys that have some value. I wouldn't mind little factions who want to build cute villages. They pay tax after all But if my settlement is being attacked by someone I want to know who is friend and who is foe. Otherwise it would force small companys to merge into bigger ones. Maybe that's the reason?
  17. Bears can fight. Fine! Bears can carry canons. Fine! Bears can carry Swivel guns. Still fine! Ride a bear that kills everything in melee, while healing it while it carrying a swivel gun with npc that is oneshotting everything else and call THAT PvP? Not fine! xD This Tame System is sooo interwoven with all the other mechanics. Looking at it disconnected from other mechanics doesn't make any sense.
  18. Will we get laser weapons or other high end tech stuff like steam ships and tanks for the officials? Or will ATLAS stay close to the real and "primitive" pirate fantasy like it is now? We love it like it is. Please don't do Lazors!
  19. I love the idea that you can carry water barrels. I think that you could put them onto a carriage but never tried. I would love to see more cargo that you can actually lift. Barrels would be perfect to be filled with other liquids like milk or grog. And you should be able to pick up the Preservation Bags. There is no point why I should carry a barrel of water but not a bag of food. The same with small wooden chests. You could load/unload cargo better and don't have to run 20 times by foot xD .... well I never tried the carriage with animals.
  20. I like the idea but I would keep it hardcore. You can destroy the market stall and get everything. But why would you place your market stall inside a region where this could happen. A big company could provide a safe marketplace and take fees for the market stand. So you have to think about making profit.
  21. What we need is a system that incentivise peacfull company interaction. Right now everyone is building walls. If you could build market stands and hire npcs to sell your stuff for a set price gold would become valuable and you could even use it as a currency inside your own company. The benefit of this would be that bigger companys would provide safe spaces for smaller tribes. They can farm with the tax system or they can buy stuff with gold from bigger companys
  22. I like the idea. I would say a character shouldn't die at age 100 for example. But it would be nice to give you a chance by making your character hardcore by reaching age 100. You will get older but if you die above age 100 you are dead.
  23. I had the same experience today. The funny thing is that you skill into this ability in the expectation of saving time. But in order to make full use of this skill you have to invest more time! Of course the claiming would go faster but you have to stand on the ship all the time to use it. There is no point to stand 4 hours on a raft just to use this feat. This is time waisting. Well you can't make it too easy, thats for sure. But as it is now. It is a total waste of skillpoints for its position as the last thing in piracy. That would be a nice skill for the basics.
  24. It would fit into the setting perfectly if you could just craft a keylock and link it to your chest. You would get a key in your inventory in return. A server wide option could be to decide wether this key is an abstract item or a real item that you can lose or give to other players. Doing that the chest could only be opened with the key or of course by destroying it. Well and if you die and lose your key, happy hacking
