  1. I hope they do x2 gathering/taming etc. for a week or two after wipe : ))) I mean... to rebuild whole base, all houses structures, tames paddock? AGAIN? : )
  2. - Pressing "S" while using steering wheel will lower sails and after they low - ship slowly goes backward. It's really slow but still the way go get out some terrain traps or parking. - Craft wall hooks. Attach them to any surface on land, put torches/lanterns there. Craft and put somewhere a lever. Set the same pin code to lever and hooks. Now lever control all light on hooks with same pin code. You can do the same to ship surfaces but no lever needed. Just press "O" while on steering wheel to control boat's lights.
  3. I always forget to add "sarcasm" word in text like that... the problem is on the picture. I just saw a ship belongs to "(???something???) WacKinger" I even point it by red circle.
  4. Yeah, I just saw a Brig sail by... I check my spyglass and I clearly found out - what company this ship belongs to:
  5. I dig this topic to not create a new one. --- - You know what really weird? We have just one pole on planet. I mean - all others biomes works fine, we have and equator in center, then separate south and north deserts, south and north temperate, south and north tundra a-a-a-a-a-a-and... it sais south and north pole but, they connected, so if you hit southern border of A15. you go A1... I know it fantasy world with it's rules but, for a guy who love astronomy and did a lot if navigation in flight sims... things pretty strange : ) --- - I found really gr8 way to improve far sailing experience. Before departure, I open youtube, turn on this vid with half of vol: And then GO. I understand - the idea of Atlas music was to make and epic tunes as in Pirates of Caribbean. But I personally think we need a lot of THAT KIND of atmosphere and relaxing music to explore the world.
  6. There are 3 types of whales btw. Gentle - you can find one in Tundra (x2 and x14 regions). They not aggroing, just swim circles. Monstrous - you can find alot in arctic (x1 and x15 regions). They aggro at U before U actually see one. Mean... I personally didn't find one, and don't know much about them. Buy some say - they aggro too. U need a ship with ballistas turrets on a stern (at least 2...) and for about 80 spears for each whale (around 50-60 hits are usually enough to slain one but you might miss or sometimes spears just hit invisible wall above whale and stuck there, I took 100 just to be sure I kill one). So Gentle is tricky - you need to position yourself properly, wait until he swim into you fire radius and shoot. Or things are way easier if you have ballistas on ship's nose. Mean and Monstrous - just kite them and shot from sterns. Do not kite too close to a border - they do turnovers and if they hit a border - they despawn. When they turn around - just stop and wait when they back. Easy. (just beware of SotD especially in arctic - tons of them, and bring a fur clothes there is a good option). Every first kill of 3 types of whales gives you 50 disc-poins (+2 max lvl and some extras). Also - Powerstones gives U more (some say 50 for every one - wiki sais it's 10) Krakren gives you 150 disc-points - if you join the raid, and you success. All other - just for landfalls and visiting places on islands. And... yeah, sometimes it just a regular place, and you never know what you actually discovered (once I run through forest and discover something called "clean and clear". I didn't noticed what was that). p.s. - BEWARE of high cliff discoveries. Sometimes climbing pick just KILLS YOU when you use them. You click to climb and you died. And there is NO CORPSE left after that. So it's good option not to take crafted stuff with you, when you about to climb somewhere.
  7. The problems not just with loot. Ppl need to do a lot of work to be able to fight them. Put some skills, build at least a Brig or insane shotgun design via Youtube guide. Farm repairment resources, create ammunition, farm gold to hire crew, then hire crew in freeport. And only after that - you ready to go. Ppl just can't go for treasure, tames or resources, and sink couple SotDs while on their way to a mission. For me it's just slow and powerful Brig to fight them. And light, fast and non armed Schooner for far travel. Of course I avoid SotDs on my far voyages : ) And yet do hunting raids around my area where I live.
  8. In most cases btw I see the same picture. Guy/company claim half of island with pillars/foundations or just build huge gate-wall. And what does they have within THEIR TERRITORY? Just one single bungalow : )) I always wanna ask - why do you need that amount of land if you just do not do anything within it? : ) BTW we live in tundra and we didn't do any walls at all! Even more - we noticed that there is a pilgrims flow every weekend (x2 tame, ppl arriving for bears) so as we closest to border we decided to build a guest pier within our territory so ppl could go ashore without hitting the waters and use one of our traps to tame a bears : ) (I even thinking of put there a storage with regular fur clothes and sign asking ppl to take and then bring back stuff... but I guess it will be stolen asap : )) (old picture... all a bit different now but the same size)
  9. Hahaha. Do not underestimate the scale of the tragedy : ) I've been to server today where there were just 25 ppl. All were so glitchy so I couldn't get from the center of my ship to steering wheel. My char just keep warping around the boat. I felt useless. It took me fro 10 minutes of micro-steppes and jumps to get steering wheel. Then I was sailing along the island. My ship suddenly stopped and wont move anywhere. After like 3-4 minutes the big shipyard rendered around my vessel - in turned out I swam into that structure... I just passed back and went full speed to a closest border : ) I saw the picture today... huge base. Around 15 big shipyards and over 100 Brigs and Galleys around... and just 8 ppl on a server. I didn't understand - why company built that amount of ships (It's PVE server and game just can not handle more then 20 ppl on one grid)? There are like more then 10 times less ppl online if they wish they could not sail their armada anywhere : ))
  10. Ah. Ok. I got it. It's just for your armor, weapon and tools (upgradeable stuff, not for structures and ship parts)
  11. Ok. I didn't really understand this. I got 160% of my intelligence. It said in a description: "one's capability to craft items quickly with additional stat bonuses". I got journeyman bp of cannon. I crafted this cannon. And here what I saw. BP shows that the cannon have an addition 121,143% damage. And with my 1.5% skill bonus (why it 1.5%???) I boosted that damage to 121,217% So far I've got huge beyond imagination additional 0,074% of damage. And thanks to my skill - gun will now do insane 1454 damage instead of poor 1453! Totally worth it right? Or not... So I'm puzzled... should I put some points there or leave it by 100%?
  12. Wait for x2 weekend, go for lvl10 treasure and get gold for a month : ) It worked for me this way. I easy solo lvl 17 treasure with by bear... and bring back tor 2.5 - 3k gold : ))
  13. Unfortunatelly it never work for me this way : ) I go from my polar circle to southern areas - get treasure and then all maps just send me east or west : ) Even whit low lvl - there are 3 islands in my area. I go to neighbor island for treasure. Then all low maps send me to third one. All maps there send me back to neighbor one. And again all maps send me to the third. I never dig the treasure in my island : )) Lucky me!
  14. I wish the maps location were completely random. So there would be a chance to get Hi LVL near you, or get a low lvl as an addition to your far journey (for resources and tames for example).
  15. I lost my schooner there recently. I was sailing to treasure and while on transit of I1, I got surrounded by 8 SotDs (7 of them were red and 1 - yellow). There were 2 option - try to avoid them and go counterwind or try to speed by one of them, and pray he wont do a lot of damage. And... yet he just 2 shot and got my plank gone. I was out of planks (lesson for me) and I only needed for 200 wood to create one. So I speed to closest island, went ashore and... it turned out there is NO WOOD at all. I didn't find any single tree. While I was on search mission - my ship sank. Sad story : ) Ah... and yeah. It took me 3 attempt to kill one whale. - First attempt I lost my Brig. The spears just hit invisible wall above whale back - I had just one shot left. I shot for like 15 times with 4 ballistas and not a single spear did any damage, just stuck in to the air above whale. - Seccond - I was kiting whale along the border. When I had 1 shot left - whale turned to a border and disappeared. - Third was success. Cursed place! p.s. - I was sailing along norhtern border the other day and got 2 whales at once aggroed me : )
  16. IMAO - we shouldn't engage at all while on travel missions (like for resources, tames or high lvl treasure). We build fast and light vessels to do long journeys and there is no point of adding there a guns, any xtra designs, put there a crew croud etc. For battles - there are different type of ships, and there are different hunt missions, usually not far from your base or... closest Golden Age. Maybe those daily missions will require to sink them for rewards? Then ppl go to open water for hunting and travel missions will be easier?
  17. No. Actually medium ones. Still looking forward to gunports. Not so many... but I've got for like 12 journeyman BPs of Puckle : )) I don't know why but this one is always there! (We have no one who could create this gun). Just to clear the area. But I often feels too lazy to stop and loot wrecks : ) Well I think that would be a work for Galleys with at least journeyman sides... or for impossible shotgun-design and sterns-cannons kites. My point here - what if DEVs decide to cancel all this roof-cover armor and louvers ceilings with 50 guns somehow? For example they limit guns to only gunports (there must be the nose, stern and open top deck gunports in a game then). Will ppl be able to hunt high lvl sotds? It turned out that SotDs from usual water are killable solo by a default Brig. What about those extreme high lvl in Golden Ages? Are default Galley can handle them? Or maybe fleet of 3-5 Brigs? (In my small company mates lost their interest - I mostly do solo game now and not sure if I'll build a Galley... just too many resources for build and maintain it. I'll just spend most of my time destroying all forests and rocks in my island : )) And of course the MMO social part of game is missing. There is just NO instrument to chat with other companies behind the area. I don't know - who is there? What vessels they have? Are they do SotD's raids? Are they go to Golden Age? Are they go Kraken? Are they go for treasure an gold? And there is NO instrument to unite a group and go somewhere with a fleet, do epic battle and share the loot...
  18. It would be nice actually. Because right not they are... : )) Neon pimp-my-boats!
  19. I have for like more then 100 atlas discs now a-a-a-a-a-and... there is NOT A SINGLE GRID where I found all discoveries (spyglass don't help). Even In my base grid I've got 6/7 and I don't know where to search for last one. (Sometimes I even think - maybe it's underwater?)
  20. I would suggest devs do all that flags and claim system in PVP servers. While PvE... not sure if ppl needs there territorial disputes between eachother. There must be some different ways to establish your base there and do all PvE stuff. And it must be more like lawless now (with all foundation spamming and other problems resolved). IMAO
  21. I remember when I first encounter lvl-14 SotD - he almost sunk me. He destroyed 4 planks and all was scary and panic. 2day something changed. I spent some time clearing the area between 3 islands in my zone (I2 EU PVE). I sank for like 15 of those SotDs. Biggest one was lvl-25 and... he just did one leak in my gunport which I repaired after a battle. So... I was thinking, maybe ppl don't hunt them because they afraid? Because they think they need a Galley with complicated shotgun design to fight SotDs? Well... in my experience, things are much better than I expect. I have just a Brig. With about NO DESIGN at all (Just higher cellings on stern to carry 2-Ballistas for whales). - There are 2 usual SpeedSails and 1 fine Handling one. - I have just 6 regular gunports with 6 regular guns and I added to the deck 2 more regular guns each side. - I have a crew of 11 ppl. 3 for sails and 8 for guns at one side of my Brig. - I have 150% Sturdiness and I put almost everything to Captaining (I just don't have enough points for lvl-2 Rally and Overdrive). - I keep 1000 wood, tch, and fib within my res-box. 200 metal and hide. Also 6 extra planks and gunports, and extra steering wheel. 200 cannonballs. And that's it. I sail to open sea and HUNT THEM. SOLO! I don't use any secret strategy to fight. I just sail by and shoot. Do turnover. Repeat. With 150% sturdiness and all in captaining buffs I even do not pay attention to leaks or planks missing if there are few shots left to destroy SotD. However if things go crazy and dangerous I just sail to wind full speed and do maintenance. There are like 2 serious fights per one raid (like I had one with lvl-17 and then lvl-25). Or as many as I have cannonballs to fight low lvl SotDs. Then - go ashore for resources, maintenance, and ammunition refill. As a reward - There are way less SotDs around (I can feel it). And... well, journeyman handling sail and guns, masterwork deck and fine planks I have : ) Oh yeah and it turned out - it's fun to fight them.
  22. In addition - I heard that when you die, you age skips towards for a bit.
  23. When there is x2 and x3 tame in a game I see the whole stream of pilgrims sailing to my Tundra island for a bears. One guy set up a two traps there so everyone use it for like 10 times a day. I seriously thinking of build a guest pier there so every1 would be able to go ashore without touching waters (they are cold in Tundra and not every1 well prepared).
  24. I noticed that. It feels that render distance reduced at least twice as before (maybe even three times less). Right now it's real torture. I hunt a SotD, I kite him to do emergency repairs and when back to steering wheel, SotD I was fighting just gone... It took me for about 10-15 minutes of insane circles to find him again (or it would be a waste of ammo I sent to his corpse before start kiting). And yeah. While I was on my way to FoY today with my fast Schooner I did a screenshot. Here it is: I made it just a second after SotD appeared. So here is how it's render distance looks like now. I felt the old distance was way to little for me, and right now - it's just insane. I never aggro that much of SotDs on my cruise sailings. (I know I can outrun them but... well... why do I need an extra random damage to my vessel from suddenly appeared SotD running towards me?)
