  1. They mentioned in the captain's log they realize they still need to do some balancing in regards to stone and how they buffed wood as well as the explosives. It's being worked on in the pipeline for later this month, at least that is how I read it.
  2. You need metal in modern concrete (depending on its use to add tensile strength) yes... Back in the day they just used stone and mortar and wood framework... if you want to get down to realism. I agree with most of your posts about Atlas feeling like Ark re skinned at the moment and not feeling a long term direction in terms of a road map. Just going to have to wait and see what happens and keep coming back and sharing your opinion and hope they read it.
  3. Prime fish meat is kid of a pain to get but even then not really just sail out to sea, sit there, wait for sharks to appear, shoot them and jump in to harvest. Oil i get plenty of from rays I also go out and hunt for the sea bass with spears and my bear. A decent level one with a big X number always seems to yield a few hundred of both. The fish are huge when you get them out of the water, just make sure to place it behind something because they non stop slide back into the water.
  4. I don't mid the Asian players. The toxicity is worldwide. I am a bit surprised they don't have a Asia/Pacific Server. I am also confused as to why the NA server is hosted in Germany. You would think they would want it in an NA data center to minimize latency for the NA players. This would also be true if they chose to do an Asia/Pacific Server. Obviously there will still be players who play across data centers because of people they know, family, etc.
  5. I mean your kids will probably die to the extreme heat and cold like baby tames. But the FoY itself isn't broken it was just released prematurely. I managed to do FoY in about 2 hours. Did I find it enjoyable? Not really but it beats having the debuff had I not managed to complete it I would of just lived with it until they expanded on it. I wouldn't quit over it. The stone issue is far more of a frustration to me.
  6. You won't even give the mechanic a chance to be created and teethed. You immediately say it's going to be a failure. Wouldn't you rather there be a lot more people to play with? I shouldn't have to go to a server that either I pay to host or that someone else is paying to host. I paid for the public version of the game. Why don't YOU take your pvp mentality to a private server? See what I did there? Yea it goes both ways my friend.
  7. I agree that extreme weather should be less common and they should have lots of types of weather between them. Drizzle, light rain, heavy rain, torrential rain, Thunderstorm, Severe Thunderstorm (Waterspouts), Tropical depression, Tropical Storm, Hurricane. Flurries, snow, blizzard. Light fog, fog, heavy fog, low fog, high fog. Dust Storm, lightning storm (no rain). The heat wave and cold blast happen way to often, they also use a ridiculous amount of extra food especially during rain and cold blasts and water during heat blasts. If I am wearing fur armor which is made from animal fur... which is good and keeping water from penetrating and trapping heat in. How the hell am I 100% wet and freezing to death just walking around in the rain. Also rain falls through some overhanging rocks where it shouldn't on some islands. I have tried using tons of fortitude and also wearing the appropriate weather event related armor and also using the temp bonus in armor and I am STILL affected by the extreme weather. Also would like to see seasons at some point every X in game days. This could allow southern and northern climates to have a summer, spring, winter, fall with seasonal changes in the temperatures and the equatorial islands to maintain a year round tropical season. Could allow growing of warmer foods etc in the extreme climates in the summers. Also agree the weather extremes temperature values need to be gone over. 145C or -125C on the island is maybe a little bit much.
  8. I agree the depth should be increased a bit. Obviously there are reasons not to have it way out at sea but I agree you pretty much have to be in very shallow water for sloops. Schooners can go a bit further but it's still pretty silly how shallow the water has to be. Brigs and galleons are definitely not as bad but I ought to be in fairly deep water (moreso within range of a coast) and drop anchor at least a hundred feet.
  9. I think we should be able to sail flags above and from the masts or off the stern of the boat. While painting the sails themselves with flags works I would love to have a waving flag above the mast or off the mast or behind the rear of my boat flying the colors of my country, trading company, etc etc. Also would like the ability to further customize the paint on the deck and hull with logos, images, icons etc. More figureheads etc would also be cool to see as well as other ways to make your ship unique from others.
  10. So my idea is fairly simple... Make a "Small Mast" "Medium Mast" "Large Mast" which can be placed on the ship as they currently are. Then take the sail portion and call it "Small X rigging" Medium X rigging" and "Large X Rigging". Allow us to then apply the rigging to a sail. If the wind is with us on a trip we can run with speed sails south and get to our destination. The wind has yet to change so we removed the speed rigging from the masts and switch it out for maneuvering so we can sail into the wind better. Obviously the rigging has weight so we lose some free weight on the ship for carrying cargo but it allows us to modify our ships on the go. You could essentially add a timer of some sort for the removal of the rigging by a minute or something and then have a timer for applying the new rigging. This leaves you slightly vulnerable for a moment but keeps your from removing and throwing on sails in the middle of combat or something like that. I realize this might be some effort in the way you apply paint and images to a sail. Not sure if you can have that applied to the actual object of the sail or how that works on the back end but I assume it couldn't be too much effort to have that info save to the actual rigging itself and if you remove/replace it this will change the coloration/image base on whatever the rigging was set to. This also plays into the idea of being able to change your colors/sails. You are out looking like a lonely merchant by day but when night comes you swap out your rigging and fly the black sails.
  11. You can do npcs, but it certainly doesn't stop raiding, it's very much possible to sit outside the range of npcs and tear a base apart or get around them as they currently exist primarily sitting on turrets. Maintaining a large force of npcs gets expensive to do as well and is certainly not going to stop someone from getting through.
  12. I agree they need to figure something out for the long term for this. I am tired of the "go to a private server" or "this is Official PVP." Just because ARK was like that doesn't mean Atlas has to be the toxic poison that exisits in ARK and Rust and other games similar to it where offline raiding is the meta. Offline raiding could be disabled on the PVP servers and they could still be PVP servers where you have to wait for someone to be online. I honestly don't know how people who break into a base and steal everything while no one is there find that fun and enjoyable. But that's just me. It's kind of like taking candy from a baby and feeling good about it. Oh god did you see me? I stole the candy hahaha. That is the image I have in my head for those people. I have been offline raided, I have just gone from keep stockpiles to using things up as they are gathered.
  13. 1-2 weeks is a bit long, I would be ok with a couple days. I can see the good and bad side of this. I ultimately think some kind of immunity is going to be needed at some point unless grapeshot has plans to add tons of NPC pirate ships and bases for everyone to raid... if there is PVE combat that everyone can enjoy and get that raid fix like sectors that are "Pirate base X" and is essentially like the golden isle where you can go siege a pirate base kill npcs and push your way in to some kind of end goal.. After X time these can reset or something. Also having pirate ships sailing the seas... SOTD are a bit boring imo. Would need to balance it out obviously a fully loaded npc pirate ship could potentially wreak havoc if they are too smart. But this would also give people the ship battle part of the game. I am assuming this is probably already planned? But who knows we still have at least another 23 months to go.
  14. So I am curious do shipwrecks completely decay after a while from the bottom of the ocean? I feel like I quite often run into floating rope ladders and even see many many shipwrecks of my own company on the death map that are very old which were never salvaged, I haven't taken the time to dive on them because they are in very deep water. Do the shipwreck hulls auto decay after a few days or do they stay forever at the bottom of the ocean until all the planks are removed? Just wondering because if it's the second option... I dare to say the massive amounts of shipwrecks at the bottom of some of the servers probably causes some of the lag.
  15. I am getting close to my cap and going to have to go do some exploring, not really looking forward to it. Wish I didn't have to land on every island. Some islands have extra stuff to discover, some don't as best as I can tell. Wish there was a way to sail by and get discovery points by viewing it or at least sailing close enough to see a good portion of it on the map. And viewing features would let you get those points. There just isn't interesting enough stuff to get off and run around on every single island. I may wind up using a wind suit and seeing if that speeds it up a bit but 1700 some odd points.... Also have been playing since the start and have sailed about 1/4 of the map although haven't been stopping on most islands as I am limited to trying to get to my location asap most nights since it takes a few hours just to sail between bases if the wind and lag are being nice.
  16. Taming pen both the large for elephants/crocs and pit fall for others works like a charm for our group. I also have a few small kill boxes across the island for pigs, doesn't work as well for stuff with reach like the elphant. Almost always ends up with us kiting it back if it's not too far and killing it on the way. Cobras are a bit trickier since they seem to be able to get through/climb over stuff but they are fairly easy to crit so we just play tag with it. Edit: Also you can kill some alphas with a decent leveled tame, especially if you have a couple people. I will nature's touch just before engaging, then nature's cry and go to town. Have killed some pretty high level alphas like this, usually finish it off before the tame gets to half hp or even more with multiple people.
  17. It's also not that crazy that people have dropped off already. The game play in here becomes extremely repetitive. People got in, leveled, respec'd multiple times, explored the trees. Some had fun, some didn't. There is a lot of content to come as far as we know. There are tons of bugs and balancing to be sorted, that is obvious at this point. People likely are moving onto new things, moving back to other games, or are waiting for massive changes that bring a reason to come back. I had come close to burning out when my brother had finally decided to come join. So I have still been playing myself despite being really unhappy with some recent changes. I am in it for the long haul but even I am going to stop playing for good chunks of time because I don't live to just play Atlas, Atlas is just one of many games in my library.
  18. Afaik the flotsam follows the same coloring system but I could be wrong, a lot of rng at the end of the day. Bulk gathering is your best bet.
  19. Color yes, then there is quality Following from wiki. Quality ranges from 0 to 10? maybe a bit higher. Higher being of better quality. Same for the floatsam. Edit: You can also use a spyglass to see floatsam quality. Don't think this works for the message in a bottle pretty sure you have to swim up to see their quality but I would have to go find one real quick to verify. Common - Gray Fine - Green Journeyman - Blue Masterwork - Pink Legendary - Yellow Mythical - Cyan
  20. Yea I can be ok with them costing more stone, I honestly don't see the wood cost thatch maybe for making mortar.. they could add a mortar cost somehow flint and stone and water or something. I also think they need to slightly reign in the stone damage buff. I also wouldn't mind grinding out the metal and paste if they add a reinforced stone/metal tier that is at least as strong as the existing stone was. It was already easy to offline people and they act like making a few hundred cannon balls is a lot of effort. It isn't you could already easily set down a few cannons and barrage a wall down in a very short manner of time. Now you just need 1 and a stack to get through a multi layer wall.
  21. Dragon idea is cool but should be killable for sure and was probably reduced in price too early. I have yet to come across one in game myself but I have seen the wrath they sow via other sources. It's like all the stuff on the golden age ruins atm. You can crit them on the first shot maybe, you can slowly whittle them down, but it takes way to much effort and stuff is not balanced right. I also don't understand how the predators don't attack each other on the island constantly to balance the spawns to a degree. Is there some in game story behind that on the island beyond the possible it was just overlooked? Currently those are just a clusterf... pile of super high level everything.
  22. If I am about to go kill alphas or do a bunch of gathering on stuff I will get xp from I tend to try and get the buff since leveling has really slowed for me. If I am busy building or doing stuff where I won't get much or any xp I don't tend to take care of maintaining my vitamins for the buff but I still don't intentionally kill myself. Where I am I have a cow for vitamin D, plenty of meat for B and tons of plants for A and C. Very little effort involved in maintaining. The thing I find annoying is that the vitamins can degrade faster than your hunger if you aren't busy doing tons of gathering etc which can lead you you being unable to eat to increase your vitamins. I also hope at some point they add some food options which actually let you eat 1 item to maintain equilibrium while also getting a huge chunk of hunger. Eating 50 berries and 50 herbs to match the same amount of food and vitamins as a few pieces of meat doesn't really make sense to me.
  23. I have been swimming in water in metal armor with fortitude and increased temp fortitude in armor and a heat wave came and it told me I should do something to cool off... I don't know how much more I can do to cool myself down. Fortitude does nothing from what I can tell nor do the skills for it in multiple trees. The armor sometimes helps depending on the scenario but I agree they need to go over it and fix it's issues.
  24. Lowering the limit stops nothing, people will then just have smaller clans and ally and accomplish the same end.
