  1. The problem is the extremely low velocity of the cannons in the game. They are unrealistically slow which makes it very difficult at range to land shots because of how slow the cannon ball moves.
  2. You act like your surprised that this game doesn't support it when you really shouldn't be. Few games support Crossfire or SLI and for good reason there are few customers that actually use such a setup and so the extra time coding for it is not worth it.
  3. Yep very true. They need to change the default ordering to be like how the rest of the forum works - ordering by last post.
  4. The devs sure do love their tornadoes. I guess having tornadoes randomly spawn next to your boat constnatly is one of those awesome original features that they are really passionate about keeping in the game even though most actual players would be much less enthusiastic about the whole idea.. Its a sneaky way to make the long boring monotonous trips in the ocean feel 'exciting'.
  5. No doubt he is one of those folks that eventually gives up on Official servers and scurries off to set up his own private unofficial "PVP" server with quaint rules like "you must declare war on your enemy before attacking" and "don't do excessive damage to their base when raiding". Oh and if you beat him too often you'll login in the next day to find yourself banned for unspecified rules...
  6. Well for one it looks absolutely ridiculous not to mention that it doesn't feel at all realistic. The game would be far better of just having one very large tornado that sucked in any ships that got too close doing large damage to them.
  7. Yep that works in other games it should work fine here too. Anything to break the constant cycle of ride in like a scythe chariot, kill a bunch of people, take a bit of damage then ride back to base heal up and repeat.
  8. Sorry but your own words betray you there champ. Yep that is exactly what needs to happen. When towing something the animal should move significantly slow and while firing on the move the accuracy and more specifically the spread of the shotgun pellets should be increased. Also they need to address how fast these things can be healed. It needs to be a lot slower.
  9. Most of the slowness is coming from rendering large bases and many ships all together. I doubt a simple ship weight calculation would have any real impact.
  10. Only if they allow us to leap into haystacks from high points and emerge unscathed...
  11. No as I said you would only count structures ie fixed objects. Players and tames wouldn't count because they'd be too dynamic and as you said would a lot more data to the equation.
  12. Not really not for a basic system. You would simply divide the ship up into sectors and see which sides have the most building parts in them. You could even count weight stored in inventories although that might be too much for some players to handle.
  13. I am guessing the spawn chance refers to individual cyclone spawns rather then whether a storm has cyclones or not.
  14. Exactly players if they want PVE they can do it in single player. Its the exact same thing minus lag which is actually a positive. Less lag is a better experience.
  15. PVE servers shouldn't exist anyway, this is a game about pillaging and killing other players. If PVE players were force marched onto PVP servers like they should be not only in time will they come appreciate the benefits of PVP but the population would be a lot higher and there for there will be more PVP action. The few diehard PVE players left could always on some empty unofficial server that is collecting dust somewhere out there.
  16. Folks that suggest the magical cure of somehow preventing offline raiding aren't living in the real world. These servers you play on have many different players living in many different time zones. What is sleep time for some is day time for others. It simply doesn't work for servers that cater to multiple time zones. Also the idea that players can dock a ship in a magical garage and then it goes poof and vanishes when they log off obviously has not taken balance into account. Any suggestion that ships should be taken out of the world when the owner goes offline is ridiculous and lazy. If you want to protect such ships build defenses and this is a legitimate area the developers can improve on. Currently players have to build their own large structures which not only adds to the server load and render lag but they often aren't very effective in any case. I think it would be nice if the devs gave us some pre-packaged defensive structures such as pre-made cannon towers and the like. Sure the role players will scream about less creativity but who gives a fk if it actually works. The same could be true for harbors or at least harbor walls. Instead of having players spam silly giant gates everywhere give us a pre-made harbor wall that is expensive but is solid and far easier to render.
  17. Whats with all the text highlighting? It sounds like your issue is related to your comp rather then the game in general. Maybe time for an upgrade?
  18. Yep for ARK players its an automatic thing but I guess new players probably wouldn't think what happens they die.
  19. A rare boss ship could indeed be interesting but it should be a real challenge even for a Galleon. The boss ship itself could even be a fairly small ship but with unique properties that make it far more deadlier such as any of these: Very long range cannons High velocity cannons Cannons that reload fast The ship moves faster then normal Some kind of unique ammo that sets your ship on fire or lays mines in the water
  20. Yes this probably wouldn't be a bad idea since the ramshackle sloop already comes with just about everything else. Adding a bed wouldn't make that much difference in terms of balance.
  21. I am guessing you are talking about Lawless Islands. These issues don't exist on other islands.
  22. Personally I would rather they upped the range on all the cannons and also increased the velocity. It would be nice to be able engage at longer ranges where you would have to really time your shots. In terms of people stacking large cannons on ships, all the devs need to do is add a balance factor to ship design. If you stick 30 large cannons all on one side of the ship at the very least it should have some major handling issues or worse possibly even capsize..
  23. This happens quite often and is definitely a client side bug. It's interesting though when you go through it your ship goes all crazy and acts like it really is hitting rocks which can be a bit worrying.
  24. I don't think it would since technically they are object rather then a serious of planks but then again maybe they count as just one large plank?
  25. Sadly it is indeed like that for some things but hopefully that will change in the near future. It's never a good thing in a game to reduce choice down to only one or two items because all the rest are worthless.
