  1. I agree as well. The news is out there, but difficult to find for casual observers or people checking the game out for the first time. The website design/organization is lacking in my opinion. Seems a bit messy. My issue with social media is how dynamic it is. Info can easily be missed. A website can have news front and center. Set in stone for all to see.
  2. This is a MMO and I like them. So hah! NPC crews are a must in this game and they allow small companies the ability to punch above their weight especially on the high seas if they know how to build and captain a boat. Imagine no NPC's and sailing. Galleon's would rarely be seen except for heavy transport. War brigs are doable, but still require a lot of active players. Schooners would be common, but still a pain needing at minimum 6-8 crew members to be war capable. Small companies would have trouble putting 1-2 capable ships out there. Also dealing with a lot of people on larger ships for long periods of time..........ugh........I don't know about you guys but the people I play with get restless and when they get restless bad (re:funny) things start to happen. Blackjacks, paint brushes and scissors are not allowed on my boat! When dealing with large numbers of players it can be like herding cats. Good luck!
  3. Why do I get the feeling that everyone will want to despawn things he builds and nobody would want him as a tenant on their island? Our island message was pretty simple. Announce yourself and talk to us before you land on our island. Tell us your intentions and we'll see what we can do. If you just showed up and built without talking to us we wiped you. If you wandered around our shipyards and trespassed on ships we killed you. If you asked and gave us basic info like company size, intentions there, etc we let you build a base up and live there. Island upkeep was easy. We let people do maps on our island. We emptied out extra gold all the time to pay for NPC's. We also built a nice walled in harbor and let smaller companies use the outside parts to build up bases. We worked together on island defense and it worked quite well. When people actually communicate and act mature these things happen.
  4. 50% was somewhat common due to 6x. That will have to be dialed back if harvesting rates are set back to previous levels.

  6. Now you are getting close to what I think will happen. Question: Has Jat or Dollie mentioned they ordered more hardware to support NA PvE? I have not seen this mentioned. If it has not then people are assuming this is the case. My theory is they are anticipating Empires failing and will call it such and wipe it. It will then become NA PvE. No new hardware required.
  7. Lets add random meteor strikes while we're at it. When one hits it creates a huge tsunami that wipes out half of Atlas. I think this should occur as frequently as typhoons did.
  8. I'd have to agree. I don't play with beggars. If you're begging for someone to buy the game you'll be begging me to tame you shit, build you shit, beg beg beg. No thanks.
  9. Is this supposed to be an MMO? The talk here makes it sound like its supposed to be small team based play. Hell WoT has larger teams then what you guys are talking about. In all the MMO's I have played my groups are usually around 10-30 at the largest. In all these games we were considered small. None of what is being discussed makes any sense at all.
  10. Between unofficial servers, mods, etc it just seems all of this is counter productive to producing a MMO that they wanted to create. I don't get it.
  11. This thread turned into a shitfest. What are you guys even arguing about anymore? This game has pirates. It has explorers. It has traders. It has WHATEVER THE FUCK WE WANT in it including companies, countries, etc. You cannot have only pirates. Pirates would get bored and drink themselves to death because there would be nothing to pillage or plunder. These games are what we make them to be. If I wanted to be a Privateer I can be one. If I wanted to form the Spanish armada and hunt pirates and those pesky English I could do that as well. As to ARK, shove that game. It has nothing to do with this one.
  12. I find it hilarious you guys are looking to destroy larger companies and alliance in a game marketed as a MMO. This is not ARK. Sooner people get this through their skulls the better. You bring all your biases and wants from that game into this one and its not doing the game developers any good. If they wanted to develop ARK with ships they would have f'ing said so.

  15. Sure they can turn away. I chase them so they are forced to turn into the wind. Doesn't work out that way for them.
  16. Spawn camping isn't really a thing in this game. There is always a bed to spawn on or a Freeport that is safe.
  17. LOL we had that happen last night. We used a cannon bear to shoot at it. Once it was almost dead my buddy hit it with a hatchet and killed it.
  18. Hit F12 screen shot. Then hit Shift + tab to bring up Steam overlay. At bottom of overlay there is an option for screen shots. Click that and it shows your screen shots. Highlight desired SS to upload and click upload. Once done it click upload SS and it opens it in a steam browser widow. From there you can get the URL or copy it and paste in Discord/whatever app you can paste in. Super easy.
  19. Loot has to be moved there. It also has to be moved out to be used. Maybe make it so BP's cannot be built from inside Freeports. Sure the BP is safe, but its useless as well. Good BP's will only drop in low/null sec and only the good materials that are needed to build them are there as well. I don't think they would be useless. There are a million things we can tweak to make this work.
  20. That and it sometimes took days for a ship to sink and that was usually due to added calamity and/or missteps by the crew trying to salvage the ship. I guess in game time is greatly sped up. I never even bothered to check. Whats one hour in real life equal to in Atlas time? Full day? I don't know. If it takes 20 minutes to sink a gally with one plank missing thats quite a few hours in game time. But for some reason to capture a brig can take multiple days/weeks in game? Whats up with that?
  21. Did pirates form companies? I don't recall. This game cannot be 100% pirates. There needs to be country and company ships (EIC for example) to raid and possibly commandeer. The MEGAs people complain about are the countries. Their politics and wars affect entire regions. Smaller companies can act like a country and play the political game or they can go the pirate route and hit whoever they please. anyone can play both sides of this as they see fit. We determine the game we play. Just like the days of old if you piss off the wrong person you might find a nation state knocking on your harbor door. Play the game right and you might find a Nation taking out an adversary for you. Having said that I do wish capturing a ship was easier. The way it stands now its damn near impossible. Who is going to destroy beds and then protect a ship for hours on end when we can go farm one and build it in a much shorter period. Even if the ship was a complete mythical build it would be such a PITA.
