  1. This is why server performance has been and is being looked at so heavily by the dev team. This game cannot reach its true potential without these issues being resolved. IMO that needs to be the highest priority the entire time this game is in EA. Its ok to have secondary concerns and priorities as new content needs to be added. Client updates for performance and other assorted changes need to be made. Overall though this game does not fulfill its promises unless the servers are rock solid and expanded upon. My guess is they need to increase performance of their services as much as possible and then run an audit of their server fleet to determine its weaknesses and correct as needed whether thats through config changes and/or capacity increases. For this game to run the way it should you cannot do one without the other.
  2. I don't get the people saying nobody fights and its all off lining crap. Sure we get hit while offline some nights, but most of our fights are active battles. We're raided every evening during our prime time and it makes for some real fun nights. We also go on the offensive and do some heavy damage when we bring out the big guns. This is the first game in probably 10 years that I am falling hard for. Why? Its a PvP MMO that has no rules (for the most part) like Eve and my other all time favorite Shadowbane. The devs do not dictate what happens in game. We do. We generate the content. We control our own fate.
  3. I try to eat food, but I hate spending time on it. Suicide lets me concentrate on the aspects of the game I enjoy.
  4. Considering how bad this game was day 1 until now they have made huge improvements. Biggest ones being server stability. They have a ways to go, but these changes do not happen over night. I honestly have no clue how big their team is so its hard to determine how much can be fixed, modified, added during the course of a week. So far I am happy with the progress. Lots been made in a relatively short period of time and I enjoy the rapid fire updates. Shows me they are actively working day and night to improve the game's infrastructure and client. P.S. If Wildcard ever reads this I would LOVE to see a flowchart and/or pictures of the server/network infrastructure that runs this game. Spent 5 years in a data center and now am an engineer for a huge company. Enterprise class systems turn me on.
  5. AFAIK to completely destroy a ship being built you need to destroy the shipyard. I lost a brig to this. Protection once launched? Find a quiet place to put it or build automated defenses (re:NPC's), walls and ceiling tiles that can project it.
  6. I'd be content it being removed from the game. I see no point in it existing.
  7. Kill yourself and try again. There is a building bug where at random you will not be able to build something and no amount of relogs, client restarts, etc fix it. Let a wolf kill you or drown yourself and it works after a respawn. I am curious if this is a similar bug.
  8. The two times I had issues building something that I could normally build I had to kill myself. After I spawned again I could build the item I previously could not.
  9. I've experienced the build bug a couple times. Most items can be built, but a few just do not work. Fix was to commit suicide.
  10. Is it all tames from a certain point forward and older tames still get XP? More specific details might help the devs isolate the issue.
  11. We had the fuel run out a couple times, but refilled it......I don't remember the exact circumstances....but it only lasted 3-4 days max.
  12. Do you have the skill to build it? If so then kill yourself.....see below. I had this happen with stone walls. The fix for me was to die. I logged in and out. Restarted client several times. Dropped all mats and binded items. Nothing did it. Committed suicide attacking a wolf......after respawn I could build stone walls again. Might get lucky and this fixes your issue.
  13. We had it happen once. Got lucky and a server patch shortly after we got stuck caused a server restart and the wind changed directions.
  14. We had a similar instance. We cannot find anything in the logs indicating it was destroyed. Do they decay quickly? Timed life span? I do not know. When it did happen our frame rates dropped to around 5fps from 30-40 range. Everyone in the server experienced the drop as people on other islands were complaining in global. Odd occurrence.
  15. I thought this was on purpose. No claim no bed on land. Raft on water only.
  16. Yeah NPC's have built in auto-aim......human players not so much. We will get better as a player base gains experience, but I would not mind seeing the NPC crews be less effective on the guns. They gain levels like the rest of us, correct? I wonder if they have random rolls built in to them for aiming and the higher the level the better the odds. Start them low so only crews that survive for a long period of time will be as effective as a highly skilled human crew.
  17. How about if the owner of a ship is online any ship he owns is vulnerable? Ship stays vulnerable for 1 hour after logout. Just tossing a number out as you need to prevent people from abusing that. Omg 4 ships inbound.....logoff! People play at different times and sometimes might miss a few days straight. Would be nice knowing you have a lot better chance to find your ship floating instead of at the bottom of the sea. Say you night time raid someone and most players are offline....only the people who are playing or have been recently will have vulnerable ships. Odds are they are nearby so they have a chance to defend. The rest are invulnerable so there is still risk, but not as risky as it is now. If you try targeting a protected ship it will be like a Freeport zone. As it stands now I have lost 7 ships while sleeping or going out to dinner. Its making doing anything but playing that game risky and stressful at times. Not very healthy for your player base.
  18. I am torn on this one. I love lost 2 Brigs and 5 sloops to this. Go to bed, wake up and my ships are sunk. I have only lost 2 ships while online and I was not even on it when it happened. How do you put in protections without changing the entire landscape of the game?
  19. Possible this happens and server does not know how to handle it. Attempts same operations over and over again. Enough players and NPC creatures do this might cause CPU to spike on server creating these symptoms.
  20. If you have painted your sails lets see what you got going on. Crazier the better! Lets fill the seas with decked out ships. This is a placeholder to remind me to post a pic of my sails artwork later. Currently at work.
  21. Server stability and latency to clients is this games largest issue. If they can figure that out and get the game to where it needs to be this game could be epic. If they do not figure this out it will prevent this game from reaching its potential.
  22. How about this. Fire arrows might drip thus setting your ship/raft ablaze. Put some risk in there for whoever uses it. Also ZNICK's suggestion sounds good to me. Let it burn the sails and deck, but not sink a ship.
  23. Oh one more thing. The firearms in this game feel like hitscan. When I was sniped from edge of draw range I was told I died as soon as the gun went off. No bullet fly time. Should have been at least a half to full second delay at that range. It was instant death. If this is true then aimbots will be easily written for this game.
  24. I don't see it either. My brother demonstrated how easy it is to snipe at range yesterday for me. I could not see him on top of a huge cliff while I was standing on the beach. One shot one kill. He hits people at long range consistently and has been called a cheater many times over the years. I can snipe to, but he is at a higher level then I am and he isn't even that great. Just a run of the mill well above average FPS gamer. Sounds like many in here would shit their pants if they went up against an elite level player. I'm better than most, but against those guys I lose 99.9999999% of the time. That one time I won they lagged out. Having said that I do believe there are cheaters in this game and he may be one of them. I just don't think the evidence is all that damning.
  25. If the players need to be treated like a military security force with scheduled shifts for sentries I can see people getting burned out real quick. Can you imagine Eve where capital ships were destroyed as easily as this? Nobody would have one.
