Yo ho! Pathfinders. As previously promised there is some new ATLAS content on the horizon! We’re excited to bring you all a little sneak peek of two of the new features in our next update coming next week! Farmhouses Introducing the first of our upcoming features, Farmhouses! Tired of toiling away on land like a landlubber, when you could be out adventuring on the high seas? You’re in luck! The new Farmhouses will automatically collect resources within a range around itself. All you scallywags can now spend less time on your chores and more time sailing out beyond the shores! Take a gander at some of the concept art for various Farmhouses styles below: *Please note that these are concept art and not the final rendition. Buy Ships with Gold In addition to the upcoming Farmhouse update, we’ll also be introducing the ability to purchase ships with gold. Building ships is core to the ATLAS experience, so you can still craft your own masterpiece. Afterall, nothing beats the beauty of a ship that you create with your own blood, sweat, and tears! However, if you have a chest full o’gold and are anxious to get out sea quickly, purchasable ships will come in handy! We’ll be interested to see how this option will expand sea travel and interactions. More information to come! Stay tuned! Happy Sailing, - ATLAS Crew For the latest dispatch on #playATLAS keep yer one good eye trained on this here information: Natter n' chatter on Discord: https://discord.gg/playatlas Hear ye, hear ye on Twitter: https://twitter.com/sailtheatlas Watch us scallywags on Twitch: http://twitch.tv/sailtheatlas Plus ye can band with us Pirates on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/playatlasgame

I couldn't stay away, I had to at the least test and see how the global servers were working out and I so love those bears I just can't stay away from them and, sailing. I love/hate you Atlas arrg!! The global server sucks, simple, the lag is horrible and rubberbanding is out of this world people have been asking left and right if it is only them and of course as predicted LOADS of folks have said it is not just them that they are having the same issue as well. I predict it will only get worse. The amount of space on there is just simply not enough for a global server, it just isn't there are no other words to put it other than that. The fact you have total jackwipes that want to kill other people's tames is happening left and right, I don't get why they must do that but I figure it is because they are too chickenshite to play pvp so come on pve where we are all supposed to work together not against each other and create chaos and havoc, too many holes on the global site where there were NOT on the NA site I want my pve back on NA Devs!!! I will still not recommend this game to anyone due to the past moves y'all have made which were abso horrible to us pve players and you well know or, should and btw please, don't mention blood, sweat and tears like you use in the new upcoming farming build because you know nothing about that as far as gaming goes, you have lost the concept or never had it of what a true gamer is without Godmode or the like. I will always love this game and what it offers as far as the pve aspect of it goes but know this Atlas, there are others coming out with the same concept, make sure you don't get left in the waves due to the way you treat your followers arrrr!

For (almost) solo companies this looks promising. But, does it work on Lawless? And how do they run? On NPCs hopefully, the higher lvl they have, the more they gather. Buying ships, dont know how to feel about that. Insurance for ships do sound more logic tho. Will there be laserguns for sale too?

I hated resource gathering mostly, the only enjoyable part being when i finally found a juicy location for a resource i previously thought was rare. Also i hated mapping, doing it once, i gave them away or sold for a 10% finders fee. I play xbox and i personally didnt find it as effective as just treasure diving/ whaling and buying/ trading for BPs i wanted. It seemed to me computer players were faster mappers due to quicker sorting and more experience. Maybe i just sucked at it but i never mapped. IMO several things motivate a PvE player 1 Meeting nice people to explore w and learn from 2 Building aesthetically pleasing and/ or highly effective things. Some examples I had VERY high cliff platforms spread around my island so a person could quickly fly to neighboring islands. Some lower ones for quickly flying to the shops, petstore, chicken coop, hardtack facility/ cooking den, barracks, breeding house, brewhouse/ farm area, Capital Building, neighbors bases, traps etc. My island itself was beautiful so it was fun to give an aerial tour or go to the highest platforms and just fly over passing ships shooting flare guns . I paid the entire upkeep so i tastefully spammed the Southern 1/3 of the island w fence posts, requested new settlers to build to the north and east sides and the neighbors i liked (most) i used the tax revenue to help. Tons of stuff but since it was spread out lag wasn't bad, even on xbox I had a gorgeous main base cliffside, w an elevator, that looked like a cross between the Parthenon and a pagoda built using stone doorways. Several other neat or quaint buildings. Had a sharp ass whaler that 3 shot whales Neighbors experimented w great looking custom ships and time investment optimization 3 Fighting various NPC content and general exploration. SotD, Krakken, Yeti, Hydra etc. Networking and teaming up to fight them and learn methods or pushing a Meta strategy. 4 Taming/ Breeding Whole events were centered around this mechanic and for some it was their primary driver. Best stats on a particular animal or best colors etc. People were competitive about it and for some players it was fun. Also they could make money or donations to network w players. Methods and location speculation discussions were also probably part of it. 5 Mapping Theres more probably but its all i can think of at the moment. I personally was definitely beginning to want for more polish and content. Things were definitely feeling repetitive. Also it was annoying to think that if i took a week off then POOF all gone probably Some things that could be easily, i think, implemented to enhance PvE. Dueling-invitational 1v1 PvP. I think there was a way to declare full blown war but it cost 40k and the details were vague, also i think both sides had to consent. Never saw it used..... Instead, allowing me to say "Yo @DannyUK I'm bored lets duel" and then we proceed to chase eachother around PKing eachother until all the giggles are exhausted then when I die its over or its turned off somehow is the correct PvE solution imo. No 3rd person interference allowed. Maybe allow it on w ships also but then it gets MUCH more complicated. Straight up simple dueling would be a nice addition until more complicated features could be introduced Skins, glass windows, decorations etc More farmable sea monsters than just whales Specific wipe procedures- I, as many, am still grumpy that my labors just went POOF w no form of in game compensation The current ideas being promoted by the devs seem correct also. Regarding buying a ship, hopefully it will still be customizable... Also i have other ideas, deeper ones, but i am not discussing them right now

No, Grapeshot and Atlas are their own devs/game in my eyes. This team has not released any paid dlc in this game. People need to get over them self and realist that this is a different game. They took assets for Ark and updated the engine but they also changed the key mechanics. Game companies do this all the time when making a new game. I would like Grapeshot to be more independent of Wildcard, stop stealing the grapeshot devs when ark is pooping it self! I also hope that the new devs will be more oriented on working pvp mechanics. We need cool downs that prevents zoning when doing ship pvp, loot bags need to collect to a big bag that last longer to prevent popcorning and beds need to have charges so your ship is not a "clown car".

okay, when you get a negative impulse like this.. walk away form your computer, calm down and think about it for a little while. First of all you can not have dlc you have to pay for in a game that is still early access. The devs are totally new and they need time to learn the code and all that stuff. This is a content addition that is being added, this does not mean that nothing will be changed or fixed in the game. They can walk and chew bubble gum at the same time! I would wait for the patch notes before i start flaming the new devs, give them a chance or get out of here dude! Don't you dear ruin this before they have had a chance! People need to stop being rage dummies!

Well they certainly have my attention. Ive always thought the focus should be having crew to work your island instead of tames. Hopefully this is a step in that direction. I agree its one less thing for us PvErs, but one Im fine with (you should still be able to harvest for those large projects/to accelerate material income)... but a tame should be an early game setup and not nearly as powerful as they currently are. (Althought there should be a big step up if the tame was bred with imprint bonus) Like you Im also looking forward to the trade winds, will be neat to finally see that too.

Devs and community manager, please can you rework building our dream ships? It's really annoying build some structures on ship because every time I get message OBSTRUCTED. Can't place ceilings, walls etc. Thank you

Not sure if youve played any single player but i generally advise people to start there. Youtube has helpful info also. I think theres a "guides" section here on forums as well. Playing on official servers is a bit tricky and this Is a deep game, I would advise starting on PvE Get to a player named island, (mine was named Sparta for example) let them know your new and see if they want new players in their company. Don't take it personal if they say no and if they say yes congrats you have a mentor. You can also try shouting "new player LFG" or something similar. I think theres a recruitment section here on the forums or you could just try messaging someone here directly also. Otherwise you can try just building a small base on the player owned island but theres some etiquette, kinda, so I'd advise trying to join an established group, even if its just temporary. Good luck & have fun

Firstly, I assume you are playing on one of the official servers? A) You leave freeport. At the NPC town there is a pier, at the end of the pier is a ship vendor, if you bring him the materials he can make you a raft or ramshackle sloop so you can sail out of freeport. The zones you can not build in are freeports and golden age ruins grids. B) There are four freeports. The freeport will always have 4 identical islands at the North, East, South and West positions (rotated but identical). Golden age ruins (the other zones you can not build in) are the 8 grids surrounding the centre grid (Centre Maw, where the Kraken is summoned). C) Rent does not exist in Atlas unless someone chooses to charge it, but there is no mechanic to enforce this. What they possibly incorrectly referred to I imagine is Island Taxes. On PvE the owner of an island you gather resources on will get 20% on top of what you gather, so you lose nothing (you harvest 10 wood, they get 2, you get 10). On PvP the tax is removed from what you gather up to a max of 30% set by the island owner (you harvest 10 wood, they get 3, you get 7). Safety on atlas depends entirely on what server you play on and other variables. D) Someone places their flag on an unclaimed island and after their flag fully raises (1 hour?) they own that island. You can contest this process by being inside their flags radius. They have to keep gold in the flag to pay 12 hourly upkeep. The flag can also pay and feed NPC crew on the island with some settings for this available to the island owner. If there is not enough gold in the flag when the upkeep needs paying then the claim will be lost. On PvP enemy companies can attempt to steal your claim during combat time (9 hours each day, set by the island owner). To contest you place your flag inside the island owners flag radius and remove all of their players and NPCs from inside their flag radius, then their flag will declaim before yours starts to claim.

When can we buy a lower ping? Cause 250 on PVE isn't low enough. I wanna see 400 baby!

I agree. Pretty dumb of someone to suggest Sea of Thieves. Even the name suggests it is not a PvE game, although I've never played it. There are BTW, plenty of ways to still play this game PvE. I'm playing on a nice unofficial server with a 5 x 5 map, all the power stones, just like official. Fun group of people. If you don't like playing on someone else's server (essentially you are doing that when you play on the official servers too), then you could always rent your own. Split the cost with your friends. It shouldn't cost you more than about $5 each a month. Not sure of the total cost, I think G-Portal is about $11 a month.

If you want people on the ocean.. there you go. Everyone onboard a ship gains xp from ship of the damned kills.

One time I played solo and had a 2x2 that I built on a cliff side on a temperate island about 60ft from the ground. There were a couple tall trees that were just below and their branches covered it up. Couldn't see it at all. No one ever found it. It was my raid base. Nice thing was that there weren't any good resources near it so no one ever came near it.

First of all i'd like to point out that unless you start Atlas with other people then you always start out solo. Secondly there are a lot of ways of making your base less detectable, although it will now be tougher with a smaller map. but if you look for long enough you will find places that aren't easy to see or stumble on, but in an exploration game no matter how well you hide, your base will be discovered eventually.

I personally think that instead of whole sail with masts, cables, ropes, DEVs should: 1) - Introduce RIGGING for every ship. We build ONE PIECE of rigging and put in the only spot on a ship. Rigging contains all masts, ladders, ropes, cables, and SAIL SPOTS. 2) - In loom we build just sails (with no masts just sailyard and sail itself). We choice square and triangle sails. First provide best downwind speed. Triangle - best wing angles (as they were in real life). 3) - We put sails we choose in to the sail spots of rigging.

Depending on the way its rolled out PVE could have some type of trade-route-npc thing that entails battle and "conflict" against NPCs for a reward, like a revenue stream or something... Im not advocating for or against it im just theorizing.. However, as another forum member stated, "how many times can you rearrange the furniture before you realize you need a new house"? I advocate more for rebuilding the house, in a manner, thats much more dynamic, customizable and enduring than the current game model. Just to be clear 1 its not any more complicated than whats currently being offered. Its simpler actually 2 Would be fun for pvp AND pve. Honestly thats a pretty easy fix to me.. 3 As i said the model could provide fun for years to come and be dynamic w NO WIPES necessary. Ive been playing various forms of these types of games since the 1980s.. Its do-able and frankly necessary to make some big tweaks to the actual game mechanics before this game goes from "pre release" to market ready product.

I see everyone implying that NA PVE is being removed permanently, and replaced with another PvP server, based off a completely vague news release that lacks details, or any semblance of the roadmap previously communicated. The bottom line is that this news release does not include enough information to know or understand the future plans for the server being taken down. Was it taken down because it was the least populated, and it is now the test server for the new map and game structure? Will there be 100% PVP, 100% PVE, or PvEvP servers brought up on official in July? We simply don’t know, and writing comments implying facts based off this news release is not very useful. I think I can speak for the entire community when I say the developers should write a brief follow up news release with more information. We are left with more questions than answers, and the level of communication is piss poor at best. If you are going to make zero announcements for months while working on Ark, and return to wipe a server with 24 hour notice, it sure would be nice if you had a more concrete news release with higher levels of details. Player like me dump thousands of hours of gameplay into Atlas. Is it too much to ask for a news release that takes more than 15 minutes of your time? Show us that you care. Please.
