    Why stop with lasers?!? We have cyclones! We have sharks! I’m not a programmer but I bet it’s super easy to have some shark spawn in and fly out of a good old fashion Sharknado!

    Atlas is a game without a clear direction, it was presented as a pirate game built on the Ark engine where you and your crew could sail around and go on adventures, fighting at sea, and it had some land bases. What we got was a ground based game with a few ships, most combat took place fighting over islands with absurd mega-companies dominating everything. Literally locking people off the server because they brought so many people to the fight. Ship tended to be used as mobile spawning points and artillery platforms for specific bombardment of areas. You send in a crew that could grapple, fly, or climb to an area, and take out the defense crew in an area, then use ships to hit the walls to breach them with large cannons from long range. Mostly when people were offline and your company was online. A small group basically could do nothing because the Megas controlled most of the islands (Not all but most) and even controlled lawless islands. If you got too big, you got trampled upon because you became a threat. the "join us or die" mantra was repeated a lot. So they were like right, the pirate thing isn't really working, so lets lean into the "magic punk" aspect and add more mythical creatures, submarines and torpedoes, but still have people be at the mercy of the wind. They allowed you to get fantastically overpowered ships that could take on multiple normal ships with ease by literally one shotting normal ships even ones with a few upgrades. Because balance? Whats that? How about we just allow mega companies to control all the resources they need to be able to make OPed death machines that no one has a hope of challenging because "they worked for it" and changing the game isn't an option, we have to keep that in because the megas, will get mad when they cant use their blueprints to be able to destroy everyone and leave, since they drove everyone else away from the game, that would kill our game. Things they should change: Nerf blueprints to a 2% bonus per material used beyond 1. 2 material 2%, 3 material 4%, ECT. Hard cap company size and alliance sizes to a much lower number, total numbers of players in alliances instead such as 150 total players, that way many small groups can ally up, but it handicaps megas. I know that Mega's will still work around this, but make it harder for them and it will also cause more drama for them when they constantly have to sort out. I do not know how to sort out the material scaling, where when you are small and in the stone age, it takes forever to get anything done, but when you are a mega, it takes minutes to build ships. Maybe limit resource respawning on islands by a lot, 12 hours per tree and rock or something, so that they cant clear an entire island of resources, then do it again as soon as it respawns. This prevents megas from spawn clearing entire areas every 30 minutes or w/e the absurdly low time is. Also, limit the special materials to rare spawns and have generic versions be the default to limit blueprint usage. have "metal" and "rock" and a generic "alloy" for generic cannons and rifles. I still think they should add factions to allow people to have a "safe" haven that they can somewhat rely on to be more friendly, so they can build relationships with people around them instead of instantly distrusting literally everyone around them, to be able to build up. The New player experience is rather abruptly ended at level 8 with your next step being onto lawless islands where you get murdered instantly. You haven't even built your first hut yet and you are being murdered by guys with guns and you are still working with basic spears trying to figure out how to build things and where resources come from. I think factions would bridge that gap between freeport and OMG EVERYONE IS AN ENEMY. I just lost the ship I spent 3 hours figuring out how to build, and now I have nothing after being one shot by a rifle and do not know what happened. Uninstall. I am a long time player of ARK and other games similar to this, most people aren't on that level, and will quit because they do not understand what happened.

    I have been hosting the official 15x15 project on my unofficial server pretty much since launch. The guys playing on my server have enjoyed it immensely and have bases set up all over the place. The, all of the sudden, with very little warning the devs decided to delete islands and only notified unofficial server owners just hours before the patch was scheduled to hit. Not sure why the islands needed to be deleted from the game entirely, when they just could not have used them in the new 11x11 project... So now I have islands missing in my 15x15. The problem is not all of the islands listed in this post were deleted in game, but if you use the updated islands.json file they are removed from the project entirely. I am trying to preserve my clients bases, so using the islands.json is out due to the fact that it removes all the islands on the list, not just the ones removed in game. For example MNT_H_CP_D is still in game (found in 01 in 15x15 map), but removed in islands.json. CAY_C_EE_B is removed in both (found in J8 in 15x15 map). Not happy about the piss poor communication here, as morale on my server is not so great right now. Not happy about the totally unnecessary island deletion for unofficial server owners. Not happy about not having the 11x11 json provided in an updated SGE git download. Basically feel like unofficial server owners got shafted here.

    Please add more often and stronger winds. Seriously, once each 5 mins can't hardly be enough, let alone 60 per 20 mins and in each tropical rain. Perhaps they are the ones needing lasershooting lightningbolts, how about that? Oh and when you're on the subject dear devs, please make them available on land too. Players might just miss them when they go afk 2 mins for a toiletbreak We want more cyclones! WoooooooTTTT!!!

    Hello Everyone, I think that 9 h of siege time is way to much time to be on alert. Having people come to your island and grief you for 9 h is way to long and not fun for anyone. People should know by now that most people have work and irl stuff, so they don't want to stress when gaming their favorite pirate game. It is also not easy to leave your island to do some of the fun stuff when you have to worry about your animals getting burned alive by some bad people! I would suggest changing the time to 4 or 5 h and rethinking how this system works. If you turn down the time to lets say 4 h, then you can do some of the fun stuff and people who want to attack you can still do so by laying siege on you everyday at that time. If they want to attack you for a longer time, then they can buy a war token and make it official that you now have to defend for a longer time. However i would like to suggest that the war token should only last for 12 h and then have a cooldown of 12 h on that island before you can do a new war token. You might also consider having the war tokens only be usable in the weekend(Saturday and Sunday). I know a lot of this sounds really restrictive but i think it would be a better balance for this game. Please like the post and leaver your comment on this Best Regard Jack Shepard

    https://exploreatlas.co.uk/ will tell you where everything is with a fair amount of accuracy, I'd say about 90% or so accurate right now (it's missing Darkwood and Ironwood spawns as of this writing). Darkwood was found on Official but is not yet updated on the site. We're still going through and verifying that the data is correct and are reporting anything we find to the developer for that site. We've been running since a few hours after the patch went live. I was able to completely remake the map prior to the patch actually dropping, and didn't need to wait for any updated SGE to go live.

    This server and map have all the things you would want in a new ATLAS. My company came over from official and found this server is perfect for what our game play is like. The mod / dev team are super active, very hands on, and are easy to talk with and get help when it is needed. The game is running so smooth, the server and connection are showing no issues with performance. We are very excited to see where the server goes and the events and things to come. Looking like this is where we will be for some time to come. Thank you to all of the Fire and Blood team for making a great place to hang out.

    I personally am not sure where Atlas is heading, but one thing is for sure, people have a right to play it and and enjoy as much as people have the right not to. Besides I and many others have had our moneys worth so far. If people are that bothered about a realistic pvp pyrate game, then inundate ubi with requests to speed up skull and bones. I mean that's been in production for nearly 3 years now and so far I've only ever seen a demo!

    The tax doesn't affect you at all just FYI. It's not a reduction of the resources you take but an addition to the owner of 30% of what you harvest. You still get the same amount of resources. Just wanted to clear that up. It's one of the few things they did right.

    We had the last SGE very shortly after the last mega update and our server was up within hours. I'm already building a new map using the islands.json (to be sure I don't use removed assets). I probably won't be able to export it until the updated SGE is released but I can have it built. You have almost everything you need to get your server ready right now.

    I don't want their new map - I wanted to continue running the server I have and am struggling to understand why us unofficial server owners would care what islands have been 'added to the build' if 'the build' isn't available anyway, and these islands have been available to us all along. I also don't understand why they needed to be removed in the first place, outside of a strange wish to break unofficial servers with this update.

    Is that definitely the correct islands.json? When using Compare in np++ I don't see any additional islands, just the addition of a 'maxIslandClaimFlagZ' for each island and a bunch that have been removed. Mnt_Y_WU_PVE for example - You say it's been added, but I was using that exact island in a previous season of our server, a year ago. The images and so on for it are also present in the GitHub version that hasn't been updated in 9 months. I'm confused...

    Why would you remove islands from the build when you clearly know it will force unofficial servers to wipe, what is there to be gained by removing them? Honestly this just seems like an attempt to force existing unofficial servers to wipe, and force the players (that have been responsible for a good number of the sales the game has generated) back to official maps because they'll have no choice while the unofficial admins rush to fix issues caused by this. An obvious insult to the unofficial community, and I suspect just so Grapeshot can shout about how awesome numbers were on the launch of the new map. I imagine alongside this we'll see a delay to the servergrid editor being updated so that unofficials have no choice but to wait, or produce custom mods using the old build to add islands back in. That'd be the icing on the cake.

    Give the new team a chance to settle in and become familiar with their roles and be set up with and oriented with the tools at their disposal and hopefully also try find out the information the players want to know so they can then be informed to communicate with the community. It hasnt been long considering what they have been handed the reigns of really.

    I think having a new lead dev will mean a new direction (at least internally) and the route they achieve those goals will have to change to suit. Fingers crossed the new team get to stick it out for the long haul and we get to see the realisation of their plans.

    There is only so many times you can rearrange furniture though before you realize you either need new furniture , new wallpaper, or a new house.

    I personally think the layout of the grid is a core component and something they need to get balanced well before too much content is added. Fingers crossed they have an internal roadmap (safe to assume the old one is gone) they are building on so that changes such as the new map are compatible with future content.

    Thank you for acknowledging my plight @Chucksteak. I will try to explain in just a few words why Atlas as PVE is so appealing. It’s gorgeous, you can sail and explore, it has risk with some challenges, it’s creative, it has other friendly people online and it can be played just an hour or two a day by a middle aged couple who just want a fun pastime. I know we aren’t the core driving the change but it sure fits everything we look for in a game. In fact, it’s so good at what it does for us, it’s hard to find an alternative. We have spent hours and hours collecting animals from players who quit only to give them away to new players just starting out. The joy you can get helping out other people in this game who don’t expect it is amazing. I hope there is a place for players like us in the new Atlas because to my wife and myself, it’s a great way to spend a dark winter evening. We have been married 26yrs and playing pc computer games together the whole time.

    I think having PVE players incorporated into a trading system would help boost PVP. If PVE players had a trade area where there stuff could assist PVP players on a different area of the map FAR FAR away then trade routes and defense would be crucial for the PVP players and PVE players. But not all would be lost. I think a great balance would help older players who now have kids. I can't afford to sit on here and grind countless hours. Sorry for all of you who have no jobs. lol It just isn't fair to be offlined every night... it is called PVP right? If you never fight anyone for anything how is that fun at all????? I get having your stuff taken in battle is the fun part of the PVP but people aren't fighting anyone...they are meta squating in freeports and repairing boats and keeping tames alive so they can continuously troll other players without losing anything, offlining, grieving, and new players are consistently targets of this behavior. When you go to find them you eventually find they live in the freeport with all of their animals. It's honestly just killed the game...if this new system fails to incorporate both PVE and PVP on different ends of the map this game will sink... no pun intended. Also...how are you going to display how many players are on in a server? It plays against peoples defenses if they know they are just facing NPC's. The game is just flawed....all the way to trying to climb the ladders on the back ends of the boats lol. I hope they new update fixes my issues with the game...but it seems like the system will be utilized by trolls again...they will just squat in new player areas for free loot. I can already feel the toxicity.

    Hey Grapshot, In case it may have escaped your memory, you never got around to adding the ability to plant fruit from fruit seeds, which you have never added to the game either. Strawberries, Limes, Grapes, etc. All these should produce seeds and we should have the ability to grow them in crop plots. Thanks!
