Hard to tell what resets it. Maybe new server patches, maybe just server restart. Or just plainly some bug in the code. But 3-day no-caim timer clearly not working as it should. We played yesterday just before the NY. I relog today at very most 12 hours later, and one of our territory was stolen. That terirtory WERE visited multiple times a day, every day by us. Even more imporantly some ppl seems figured out how exactly to use that exploit to their advantage. 'Red Ribons Army' in sector B11 (EU PvE), stealing ppl's territory every day, and i heard it lots and lots of time ingame chat that they are doing that even when by all means game should prevent them to do so.

Discovered a bug that allows you to steal claims of active companies on the PvE server and it doesn't even need a loophole, currently its possible to just place a claim flag down even when others are online and standing next to me. It would seem the 3 day timer is not working or it does not refresh when people are active in the area meaning it can be stolen 3 days after it is placed regardless of activity? The claims in question were 100% definitely placed after the patch that updated how claims work. This would need a fix that is 100% retroactive because right now with how claims work it is impossible to replace our claims in the exact spots they are and leaving our claims open to be stolen like the previous claim fix is unacceptable. As of writing my companies base that we spent a combined 200 hours building is now up for grabs as soon as we log off and this is something that would definitely make me quit and never return to this game.

our first flag and territory was taken during we were connected, nobody was sleeping in base and we were all on boat hunting treasures. So we lost our 2 buildings, theyre not owned by us anymore. Code pin seems to protect our stuff but cant undertand what we did wrong. We can visit them but im afraid new owner can demolish everything

How do I know when looking at the map which areas are claimable and which are not? Is there a method to its madness.

I know this is going to sound like im whining here, but the claim system is broken. Anyone who did not get to any island within the first 24 hours of game release are screwed unless they intend to join a massive company. I get this game is MMO, so a certain lvl of competitiveness is a requirement. But the ability to claim an ungodly amount of land is too much. Every character should get 1-2 land claim flags. That way the larger companies still have the ability to claim an entire island. But people with a company of 5 or 6 would only be able to claim small islands, or partial islands. I feel that this would actually increase the competitiveness. Companies who share an island would either have to be allies or continuously watch their back. I dont agree with everyone saying that claims sould have upkeep, thats just a pipe dream. Not to mention if you have a life other than gaming, you are screwed. This game is currently designed for the large streaming masses who have huge companies, and nothing but time to play games. I've been playing with my company of 10 since release, but we have not once claimed any land or built anything bigger than a sloop simply because lawless islands are full of chineese griefers and the rest of the map is preclaimed by the super companies. I feel that the amount of land you can claim should be a reflection of how many people are in your company. More players=More land. I know the Devs will probably never see this but let me know if im being unreasonable here. Does anyone else see this or is it just me?

It really ****s, and need to be reworked, we lost our base to a China Guy, it couldnt be that your best is getting a base and land when your online at the right time, rework that shit totally, PVE is more annoying than PVE!!!!

Ok me and my friend did some testing today about claiming flags. I've left company and tried to take over his flags. And guess what? I could instnatly, without 72 hours waiting, place my flags and start claiming his when he left to another area. What i could not take over were my 2 flags (which were placed before entering company, but after leaving it they stayed in company ownership). These are my only 2 flags in whole game and when i tried to place claim near them i recived info about recent upkeep, it was in seconds and was -18600 and it was rising to higher negative values (maybe it'll "rise" to negative value which corresponds to 72 hours). My friend placed a lot more flags and almost all of them had no upkeep, so i could instantly start claiming them. But there were also 2 of his flags that i couldn't take over. Those were flags that he placed as last ones. Mu guess: This looks like limit of 2 plags per character is on and only last 2 flags placed are protected by 72 hours upkeep. Any new flag placed removes upkeep from previous flags, so that only 2 flags can be protected by upkeep.

*message in a bottle* So you stole a few coin, punched a few monkeys, and managed to slap a few planks together and sail off a freeport... Only to realize the outer sea is unwelcoming and will sink your dreams of being a pirate. The lands run dry of resource, the PvP sea is controlled by big name streamers, YOU CAN'T SPECIALIZE IN BEING THE BEST DAMN PIRATE DANCER IN THE FLAT ATLAS SEA!! Not all is lost.. -Undead Marauders- has a home, for you. You need a place outside a freeport to call home. Where land cannot be claimed or taken from you. You want time to make your ship and produce 500 gallons of rum. K12, NA, PvP, is where you need to set sail. Seek out the Undead Marauders. A plan is brewing in the Lawless islands. You should be a part of it. ~ I feel a change in the wind, says I.. Seek out the flag.

Does anyone know how claims actually work? Someone was able to claim my stone box as I was running my sloop to a free-port in 10 minutes. The other day to see how it would work I did it to another players stone box. The timer was 10 minutes but it was froze at 9:59 and would not work. Does it have something to do with the player being offline or online? Is 10 minutes intended or is that a bug? Why raid bases or make explosives if you can just wait 10 minutes and open the door? Wouldn't it be easier to just build in a lawless zone even with the decay time if that was the case?

Instead of being able to place claim flags, make the devs choose permanent locations on each island. This way they are spaced apart nicely. Every company can come claim 1 flag. Also reduce it's range. To claim a flag you must place a sort of box next to it and put materials in this. The company that fed the most materials to the required amount gets the flag. You can build around your box now and protect it. Once another company comes and tries to claim your flag, they degrade the materials in your "base box". Once these are depleted, they get the base. This can take up to 10 hours depending on how many materials are in your base box. They can of course also break your door and forcefully empty the box / press claim on the box. It should be protected and once you hit it , you can claim it. (maybe with a 5 minute wait time to avoid griefing). This way, flag spam is gone, bases dont get claimed in 30 minutes and uselessly claimed flags can be taken back easily if they are not being defended. Opening the map to lots of new players.

On NA PVE i just had a dude come right up to my base, while i was in it and place a contest flag. I kindly told him to stop claiming and he did. We had a little chat about it, and it turns out he is able to claim things even while people are in their base. He also told me he had just seen a guy placing a flag on an already contested area, making it double contested. What is going on? Im afraid to log out right now.

Claim stealing and how it works presents a big problem in PVE atm people can lose everything in an hour and a half stealing territory from another company even less for boats which gets annoying pvp should be enabled against those claim stealing, a system so even if one is offline they dont get wrecked, boats shouldnt be claimable in PVE or some system that makes it inline with the idea of PVE while still giving new players a chance to acquire land without having to join a mega company.

From what I understand WildCard had a significant hand in making this game or at least advised. We see the same things that happened on ARK's launch PvE servers occurring now, but instead of wooden pillars beings dropped they are simply textured as claim flags. With no limitations on area control, the game will stagnate almost immediately as greedy groups grab up more land than is reasonable. The game will then slowly decay and push people into private servers, destroying the "MMO" aspect of the game. When new servers get launched there will be a spike in activity for the new land, resulting in the exact same cycle. Its great business for companies that run private servers at least. I guess I'm just disappointed nothing was learned from past experience.
