  1. I went through this problem several times over the years but was always related to the screen mode I couldn't use full screen. However this time it just happened out of nowhere and had me thinking about the post above. So I did a google search for corrupted windows files and found a fix I have seen before. So I used this Microsoft link...https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/topic/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system-files-79aa86cb-ca52-166a-92a3-966e85d4094e Then after running those two file checks it did say there was corrupted files and then reboot computer and everything was ok again and the game sound was back.I think we recently had a windows update but really leaves us with concerns as to why we would get corrupted files after an update.
  2. My first question is about servers in general: We started playing Atlas a few weeks ago (there are 2 of us). We originally wanted to play on a dedicated private rented server and invite another friend or 2, but chose to play the single player on a non dedicated server (tethered) after reading that we'd have to rent several servers in order to get access to a large portion of the map on a private server. I'm still not sure we understand how the servers and maps work, and how many squares of the map you get per server that you rent. We just want to be able to enjoy all the content of the game with the boss fights, power stones, kraken , ghost ship, etc. .. and were afraid that we'd miss most of that if we only had a couple squares to work with. Can someone explain to me how many squares of the map you actually get per rented server? Also, if you only get a few squares to work with, does that mean you just never get to fight the bosses or see the content in the other squares you don't have access to? Okay, my next issue is regarding our non dedicated server randomly "breaking": Okay, so when we first started playing we played for probably about a week with everything seemingly going okay. We were enjoying the game and learning the ins and outs, building things, leveling etc. One evening the game crashed on us repeatedly and when the host tried to validate his files in Steam, it said 1 file was unable to be validated. We assumed something glitchy happened with some update and we just decided that although it was a pain in the butt, we'd just start over. We then found out that the spyglass was the culprit of our crashes, and it was each time the spyglass was used that crashed the game. We decided to just go ahead and start over anyway since we really weren't that far in, because of the file that said it couldn't validate and since the spyglass issue things were acting weird anyway. Fast forward now we're almost 2 weeks into our fresh server and now last night it seems like the server broke on us again. There is no sense in continuing to play if we are going to just have to start over every 10 days or 2 weeks. I'm hoping someone can give me some insight into what we can do to fix this. Sorry in advance for the long story, but I want to go through most of what I can remember we did, in case it is something we did that "broke" things again. Most of the evening of us playing went fine, then all of the sudden I crashed and it said I lost my connection to the host. While trying to re-join it would not show our sever in the list, so the host had to reboot his game and then it would show for me. We've never had those issues before last night. After the 2 times of that happening, everything seemed to work fine. We were able to continue playing with no issues for a while. We decided to go do some ship exploration, get some resources, and then do a couple of treasure maps. For a while everything seemed normal, while sailing, with normal ship attacks, shipwrecks to dive, flotsam floating etc. During our exploration we found what we believe may be the Kraken location (we aren't positive on that) and went inside the swirling water (nothing happened when we did). That was in F4. Then we went over to G5 and hunted the ghost ship for a little while. We think we may have found it during the day, as our ship started having some weird ghosting effects. At that time we didn't realize the ship only appeared at night. We decided to go ahead and do some treasure maps. We were going to sail home to C9 to drop our resources off and lighten our ship, then head out. At some point during that journey we realized we hadn't seen a Ship of the Damned in quite a while. Then realized we hadn't seen any shipwrecks or flotsam. We decided to re-log in case that was the problem. After we did, the shipwrecks and flotsam all re-appeared, but we still didn't see any Ships of the Damned. We sailed the rest of the way home and never saw any. I picked 3 Journeyman maps in A9. The host picked up the maps and noticed they said the minimum gold awarded for them were 0, which was odd. He handed them over to me and each one said the minimum was around 15k. While that was strange, we decided to go ahead and sail out to do them. We sailed from C9 to A9 and still never saw any ships, but did see shipwrecks and flotsam. We got to the location and the beam didn't show up for the host. He handed the map over to me and the beam showed up just fine. I walked over to the beam expecting it to activate the spawn, but nothing happened. I took my shovel out and started to dig and it crashed the server. We both came back in and tried again and it crashed again as soon as I tried to dig. We came back in a 3rd time, and this time we decided to pick up more t-map bottles to see if they also said there was a minimum of 0 gold as the reward. The host tried to pick up 3 bottles, and although it showed him picking them up.. the bottles weren't showing in his inventory. I went and found a bottle to pick up and the same thing happened, it wasn't in my inventory. We ended up just logging out after that. What would cause a server to just randomly seem to "break"? Is there a way to fix this? This game is unplayable for us if we have to restart from scratch every 10 days or 2 weeks because something breaks the server. We are really enjoying the game and want to continue to play. What can we do? Thanks for your time!
  3. playing single player on ocean map. I built on an island. took a break and I come back and Im on water with animals being submerged. why was all the land removed. half my base under water and none of the island I explored is anywhere to be seen. is this what the game does if you are on ocean? it wipes out the islands? defo not playing on live and it looks like Ocrean is a bust on single player as well. my base on blackheart is still okay but that map says no islands to explore. says only one island in swamp? is this why no one is playing? I had hopes for this game but atwo years later stuff is still breaking badly. I mean my base is under water? if I were on live my animals would be already dead. I have no where to put them now as I cant carry them.
  4. has anyone ever seen wheatgrass on this PVE server , i want wheat seeds for wheat to tame an Elephant.
  5. Obviously restart of the game today was an over flood of people returning. Everyone getting their 10 mins of fame. While being attacked this came across in our crew log. It was suggested that this is an admin command from an admin on the official servers abusing powers to power lvl their company (Many of whom are already lvl 60 and 80 in the few hours that this game has been back up... here is the code its giving... Your crew member <name> - LVL 14 was killed by Silent 24 <img src="chat.image" path="game/PrimalEarth/Emo/Emo_Tongue.Emo_Tongue"/> - lvl 31 <name> Never seen this in crew logs is it a cheat code or admin abusing or does anyone know what this is? It does not show up on any other kills or death just that one
  6. I hate to break it to you but devs don’t come to this forum so you’re really just preaching to a small handful of other players. The devs are more likely to see comments via their discord channel but if you post something like this you’ll get suspended. I agree, the potential has been squandered by piss-poor management - the worst game development I’ve ever seen.
  7. Hello Everyone, Our company Dead Sea Syndicate finally created the Great Temple a few weeks ago and we placed it down on our island. Approx 3 min later the zone crashed and when logging back in the temple was gone and back in my inventory, but the game thinks we still have it placed down. Has anyone had this issue and or does anyone know a way to fix this issue. As it stands, we cannot set it back down because the game thinks it's already down and because of this we have no way to upgrade it. I know it wasn't designed to just place on any island but this season it lets you and I've seen many companies with there's placed down on random islands. We also submitted a ticket like three weeks ago and seems to not be getting any response from the devs. Any assistance or suggestions welcome, as we really want to enjoy this Temple if we can get it placed back down. Thanks,
  8. I just started playing again after a long atlas vacation and I am shocked to see what a mess this game has become. How the F do you progress in reverse building a game? Rubber banding and lag is horrible, though I don't see how there are no players. The navmesh is all jacked up the ships drive more under water than atop it. That's just what I have seen in my first hour back, do I dare even continue? Did you guys hire a bunch of failed indie devs to maintain this game so you could move the "A" team on to the next cash grab(Ark2)? This game had so much potential so sad to see it completely mishandled. The game use to be better than it is in its current state. If you at all care about your fan base you guys need to step it up or just come clean and say you have milked it for all it was worth and are moving on. Don't pretend you are still working on this turd.
  9. The last update when you had players was v402.6-ish, before the farmhouses, prefab crap, the wipes, and all the excess crap that got added that no one wanted. Want to save the game? roll back that far. The 15x15 map was amazing, could literally roll back that far with minor changes, and many old players would return. For people who just like to tame, breed and farm just add a few Ark size islands. Add greenhouse structures so we can grow crops in any biome, breed tames in any biome. We wanted legacy ships to expand to frigates, sloops should have been slightly bigger. Get rid of or change the weird ship of the damn and army of the damned, pirates or skeletons-ish would work, remove mines, farms anything and everything prefab ships and structures. The point of sailing was to go out and get those recourses, not auto farm and sell them, limit island claims and shipyards, no company should need more than 2 small and 2 large shipyards. If ships sat for too long we should be able to claim them, breeding and raising tames should be less time consuming, these are things most people wanted but no one listens to small or solo players.... the main players of your game, instead you listen to mega comps and pvp players. Sooo many more ideas that we wanted but were ignored. Watch both your trailers and see and remember the aww that we seen and the game we remember and deserve. https://youtu.be/miwYMiEUYiA https://youtu.be/7pXqX73FGFY MAGA ( Make Atlas Great Again)
  10. Ahoy Pathfinders! We have some important news to share regarding our official servers. As most of you are likely aware, our current season has seen some particularly rough waters. Some unintended features were unfortunately introduced that had an extremely negative impact on the game before they could be disabled. In response to this, we’ve made the difficult decision to wipe both the official PvP and PvE servers to provide everyone with an even playing field. We understand that this is not the direction we all expected this season to go and would like to sincerely apologize to our community as we take measures to improve the ATLAS experience. We hope you’ll continue the journey with us as we make our way closer to exiting early access. Thank you for your support and happy sailing! On a lighter note, here’s a sneak peek at a fun new feature coming in our next patch! Upcoming Wipe The final day of the current season will be Wednesday November 30th when we will be wiping both official servers for a fresh start. Servers are expected to go down around 7AM PST and should be back up around 7PM PST. Unofficial servers are not expected to need to wipe at this time. Server Changes With your patience and understanding, we’d like to take this new season as an opportunity to bring some adjustments to our official servers so we can better prepare for some major changes coming to ATLAS gameplay in the future. We need more servers to thoroughly test what we have in store, so we are temporarily downsizing our official servers. We understand this change is not going to be looked favorably upon by the entire community, so please keep in mind this is only temporary for this season! For more details about this experimental phase, please see a preview of the server changes below. More details will be provided as we get closer to our wipe date. PvP Servers: The PvP server will be split into 10 different 3x3 servers. Will be a mix of NA and EU servers. There will be no regions or portals. Claim type: will be a mix of claimable islands, claimable lawless, and unclaimable lawless. Quest content (Power Stones etc.) will not be available. Boosted rates. PvE Server: The PvE server will be reduced in size to a 6x6. Will be EU. There will be no regions or portals. All grids will be unclaimable lawless. All quest content will be available. Final Note Again, we would like to emphasize that ATLAS is still in Early Access, meaning many things can and will likely continue to drastically change - even in the middle of development. Anything discussed is only up to date as of the moment it is posted. Features and changes that ultimately make it to the next patch, as well as timing, may be different from what was previously discussed. As always, we appreciate the suggestions and feedback from the community. Please keep them coming! Thank you for all of your support! 12. Just a few points. I'm not sure what your on but I'm on PC and have not crashed once this season and I'm a few hundred hour in. I was thinking at last they got it running good. Land is always in low supply at the start of each season but if you look you can find it. I saw a guy this week going on about this while sailing the grid when I knew the island I was on had open spots. He sounded so rude I didn't tell him. I didn't need to hear that everyday. Don't discount living on an owned island. At least to get started. My main base is on one this season. Never even seen the owner. Nothing wrong with the towers. People need a buffer to stop the crazy stuff from closing in. Or they will quit also. A simple way to stop losing bears when zoning. Slow before crossing a border to a creep. Stop as soon as you cross every time. Check if you have all your bears. If not he is right behind you. Leave it on high follow. He will swim to you and jump back on. Only an epic bear is worth searching for. Basic bears are a dime a dozen. On the bottom of M2 paradise I set out and un-claim 20+ a week. The real problem with Atlas is new players have to figure all this out with little to no help. Making very simple things sometimes a nightmare. Knowledge makes your first 100 hours into 10 hours. But that knowledge is hard to come by.
  13. Hi, 1. Can someone make a unicorn mod. I want to tame a unicorn (true white). 2. Is there a way to make a mod that clones or copies a tame. Or makes a template of a tame. Like let's say, I have a favorite tame. And copy the tame. Then give it to someone else. Then they have the same tame with the same name, look, and stats. Now, I've seen a mod that allows someone to put their tame in a flask/bottle. When you look at it, it shows a description of the tame. Shows the name, sex, color, etc. How about a mod, that lets you type in details like name, sex, color, etc, then press execute, and now you have a tame that matches the stats you put in. That way you've copied the tame without actually creating a file to is transferred to another player. Just dial-up a clone.
  14. I'm not against the idea of adjusting company mechanics but nothing you said here is accurate. Megas aren't content gating smaller companies. Megas don't have magical exploits to level cap faster than others. This game was designed around the concept of large companies existing (in addition to smaller ones). Every issue you listed here has nothing to do with megas existing and everything to do with poor game design and an incredibly high knowledge barrier for entry. Also, the whole concept of a "mega" is completely relative. In season 1, megas had a thousand members. In season 9 now, people call companies with 30 players a mega. Because if you're in a small 3 man company, 30 players is an overwhelming force to deal with. So anyone who complains about "megas" at this stage in the game is naive. Or simply bad and unwilling to learn. Or all three. No one is preventing people from farming the maw; even when we had 10+ boats in the maw earlier in the season we would still see small, never-before-seen companies doing their own thing in there. If you're expecting to do content at any time of day with zero resistance, it sounds like you should check out the PvE server. The whole concept of a survival PvP game is that when you go out into the wild, you're risking your stuff. The only company getting content gated this season is Molon Labe.
  15. It does not seem possible for the dev team to fix anything related to balancing the game. Out of a list of a 100 items added a minor issue may be changed or resolved often going to one end of the extream or the other or so small that it doesn't matter. Such as ship speed. Why they added all these portals, because only the no life trolls that will be on the PTR for 30 hrs before a wipe will know how to get to any islands. Then a map will be released 2-3 days later when all the islands have been taken. I cannot fight a bunch of crabs. I cannot fight 5 broadsiders showing up to take out my armored docks. Love the game, but have never seen an intentional display of segregation in what should be a fair for all fun, survival pirate experience. In no reality should a game consist of having to be on for many hours to accompish something. And before anyone judges, single player, pve or just join a mega is not a solution. If the devs (grapshot) cannot see this as a problem, then any sane person would and should boycott them and anything attached to them. I can handle bugs. Game breaking bugs should be fixing before introducing more content producing more bugs. And their total disregard for thier playerbase is abysmal. You cannot have a game that is pvp (which is competitive) have all the advantages swung in certain players direction and have most of the servers offline for a week and think thats ok to just keep it going. Each year goes by with population getting cut to the point they even have to merge pvp servers just to keep it alive. What could be an epic game that would deserve a sequal just like Ark survival evolved with a playerbase for years to come. I predict this to be more of just a fad, many will buy and it will die just the same. Why because the devs will get their money, its nothing special to them. It is just another project. If the devs care so little. Why should we? Do they deserve more of our money?
  16. I started playing the game first day, through the bugs, the wipes, etc. All had its issues. Well, I stopped playing due to the wipes about a year and a half ago and went to Conan (great game btw). Well, I came back this weekend to look around and possibly move me and my conan friends over to Atlas for something new. Well, I gotta say the game is so so much more buggy and broken than I have ever seen it. Even worse than day 1 release. First, WTF is up with this portal crap? Why not allow sailing from end to end like before? Stupid IMO. Second, game is so incredibly buggy. I buy a pair of NPC's, get em on my freighter (new ships suck too) and Poof, they disappear of the sails sailing between grids. Buy a SECOND set of NPCs, hit landfall, go to explore. When I return, Poof, my NPCs are gone. According to the log nothing happened, but they are gone. Grapeshot, what did you do to this game? Absolute crying shame what you have done. I just told everyone else not to buy the game because of it. You absolutely ruined this game.
  17. Hello all, I have seen ships with triangular sails and while they are sailing, the boom is on the opposite direction of what it should be. For example, if I am heading N, and the wind comes from the W, the boom should be on my starboard side. I understand that this is not a sailing simulator, but still, it is kind of awkward.
  18. I have seen cogs on in the world with cargo racks and diving platforms but I can not get them to attach to the cogs. Can someone please tell me how this is done?
  19. Hey i just wanted to throw this out there being as i had such a hard time figuring it out, i seen many others with the same issue and not once did anyone ever reply or try to help them. Alas, The problem is. After Creating a Dedicated Server on my Server PC and using my Custom 3x3 grid i was able to launch into my server with friends and play just fine for however long. Eventually a server must be restarted and this is where the problem came into play. As soon as i restarted the server cluster, Upon startup of the servers i was greeted with a lovely "Fatal Error". Of course these are common with atlas but this one however had me stumped. I recreated a new map from Scratch, Removed any bugged islands, checked ports on grids and port forwarding on router, i even went as far as to run a 3x3 with no added code , single island per grid and still the same. I followed the guides found from MANY different sites and that's where i was misled, They all inform you to use SteamCMD to install atlas then use an Serverstart.bat file to bootup the server. This is all fine but the code they give you is this start X:\AtlasSrv\ShooterGame\Binaries\Win64\ShooterGameServer.exe Ocean?ServerX=0?ServerY=0?AltSaveDirectoryName=10?ServerAdminPassword=123?MaxPlayers=20?ReservedPlayerSlots=0?QueryPort=55761?Port=5561?SeamlessIP=x.x.x.x -log -server -NoBattlEye exit The code is Correct minus the changes you need to make to allow it to find your server, What they don't explain is that this line: "AltSaveDirectoryName=10" CANNOT be used in every .bat for each grid, What this does is set the save directory for all the loaded files on the server grid like Structures, Ships, Tames etc. When each grid saves each of their files to the same folder the previous grid files are being overwritten thus causing a fatal error when it tries to reload the server. To remedy this chang this line to a different number for each grid, For example, my Grid is 3x3 so for grids "A1-0,0" "B1-1,0" and "C1-2,1" i would change this to: AltSaveDirectoryName=00 AltSaveDirectoryName=10 AltSaveDirectoryName=20 Or you can use your own digits or even letters, these will simply be the names of the folders the associated grids will save too. I noticed this is an ongoing issue and would be nice if the devs would simply state this in their tutorials but it's grapeshot so.. smh... Anyways i hope this helps the next person out! I'd love to hear feedback if this fixed it for you! if i can answer any other question you have for the setup process i'd be more than happy too. Good luck!
  20. The problem is not the spawn rate. It's the rendering range. You can be on top of them before you know it. It's worse if moving fast. There is a setting for this but even at max it's way too low. I understand rending these SOD at greater range would have a cost but something should be done about this. I suggest a glow seen at greater range, without rending the whole ship/s. This would help both those looking for them and looking to avoid them. And secondly, SOD being on the grid borders where you can spawn after passing through and can be in the middle of them. I recently passed through a grid in my brig to find myself spawning on the other side at a full stop T-boned into a SOD gally, taking damage as I spawned. Resulting in my sinking before I could get untangled from it. But I been here since release and have learned to just deal with it. Fixes like these just don't ever come.
  21. Hello, although I'm having a lot of fun with the part of the game that works, Atlas is frustrating me more and more. I can't play singleplayer because the pirate camps pile/stucking up five times. Apart from bugs I haven't seen yet. Is there any fix for this? So admin cheats sure but for how many pirate camps do you do that until it annoys you. Singleplayer via a hosted server is somehow not the real thing. I pay ~10,-€ for a server which can contain 1 grid. For a real singleplayer experience with collecting power stones etc. I need ? min. 2 grids so 20,-€ or more ? I can't host a server myself in LAN because it doesn't work with Atlas or only for some how has the right prerequisites. Is there at least something in sight that they will work on it ? I have the impression that they rather add content than fix bugs. Anyway I have invested several hours in the attempt to set up a server under Linux and Windows on my own LAN but with no succeed. It should have been only reachable for me, otherwise it would not work anyway because of DslLite and no Ipv4. But for Ark it works absolutly fine. Is there anything I have overlooked so far that allows me to play normally ? So without turning off basic elements of the game like the pirate camps ? And I think i can't badly play without mods. Does the bug with the pirate camps also exist outside of singleplayer ? Otherwise my efforts with server rent or host would be completely pointless.
  22. Its a boss like the Hydra. all drop Mythos and Hydra is still within to what i seen on PTR
