  1. You dont get taming, we get it, others like it, let them enjoy it. Its not a Battle Royale pvp game, its a MMO with lots of different things to do.
  2. If a ship is anchored, you cannot get on it if not in your company or alliance. This removes lots of roleplay (hence the ability to turn it off on private servers) but it also opens up a whole new world of griefing Just anchor a bunch of rafts around a ship and now noone can get on or off the ship.
  3. Yeah, but you anchor your galleon overnight and come back in morning unable to get off of it because rafts are parked all around. And of course you cant go on a friends boat or someone elses to look at it even if invited, etc. its bad for RP, its bad for regular play. All they had to do was not let people move if overweight.
  4. Seriously, i cant give people rides anymore unless they are my allies or company? I cant sneak on a ship and hide as a stowaway? This is not the solution people wanted, and in reality just opens up more griefing, just park a flottila of rafts around a galleon and the owner can never get on or off. This was NOT well thought out.
  5. And weight sails are used for transport, just because you dont on pvp is just one aspect. On private and PVE weight sails matter for some folks.
  6. Gold is very useful NPCs alone use a good amount But upgrading higher tier gear sets to make them serve the purpose you want costs a ton. And of course if they get destroyed and need to be replaced.... Plus you can buy materials now in town as well at a very expensive cost.
  7. Ask anyone who is level 75+ how pointless alphas are? Most of the folks who hit 51 so fast did it when alphas were on lawless.
  8. The funny part is that you can run ashore and not do more than some minor damage, but you run up on a little underwater hill that doesnt break the surface, your boat suddenly sinks.
  9. Death is nothing but a benefit right now unless there isnt a bed nearby, there is zero downside to it.
  10. Also berries are not fruits, just FYI
  11. The cage in pirates tree works best, can be tricky to get them to follow you in, but once you do you dont even have to be in there to finish the tame.
  12. OMG I hate them. Makes me never want to approach shore. Dont get me wrong, im not asking to have them changed, if you hit a high sandbar, you go down, thats life. And its awesome the game makes me care that much about my ship, even with Eve mentality of dont sail what you cant afford to lose... But I hate sandbars, hate em.
  13. So i appreciate the cyclone mechanic in whole, but its implementation needs some love They should not spawn EVERY TIME it rains when at sea. Let it just rain sometime. Not every rain is a hurricane. They should not spawn so close together, one would definitely disrupt the other. A better solution would be if they were a roving weather system that moved across the grid which you could see from a distance and choose to sail through or avoid. Let them even do more damage in that case if you choose to risk it, but they right now they are more of a nuisance than a thrilling game mechanic.
  14. You can also use the Lt Podium i believe to direct them, but havent tested yet.
  15. Ive fit a food larder, large locker, ships resource chest, bed, preserving bag, mortar and pestle and smithy all below decks with a 1/2 wall up above deck height for 1/3rd of the ship to cover the top of the locker, larder, and smithy. (plus gives me a height advantage for wheel and mount a cannon if i wished).
  16. look at a mast and hit COMMA (,) They will man that mast
  17. If you build in an area the predators go down. Its just that initial breaking of a land to claim it as your own thats tough. Once you get a 2 story house and can get to roof, you can kill most anything that happens along, or build walls to keep em out. And to be honest, lots of the complaints are from people running solo and just want to be able to solo the whole game
  18. This thread is not about taming is broken or taming sucks or tames cant live, etc. Its for those of us working with the system and trying to improve it, and those who want more information about tames. #1 Taming Change Needed IMHO: Riding skills should be separate branch of the tree. Its stupid that for riding 2 you need taming 1 and breeding 1 (and commands 1 but not commands 2). For riding 3 you need taming 2 and breeding 2 (and commands 2 but not commands 3). You shoudnt need to know how to breed or tame to ride. (you can make an argument for needing commands, but even then, because i can ride a pet shouldnt require me to be able to whistle it about to attack/follow/stay put, etc). Move riding to the survival tree. Onto pets... For me the must haves are: Bear - Probably the most useful tame to have. Now that you dont need honey to get it, its even easier. It solves all your fiber and berry/vegetable needs. It can haul a cargo wagon around to move a cannon somewhere to assault something (if thats your thing). Its a fairly decent fighter. Really good as a pack horse for other gathering people or animals. Should be gotten as soon as possible. Elephant - Solves your wood issues. Hauls a lot. Decent fighter, less than bear. Can seat 3 people, the two on the sides can fire weapons while mounted on it. Rhino - Solves your stone and metal (if metal node) problems. Fun to get a head of steam on. Little pesky to tame as they seem to resent it. Ostrich - Fastest land mount. Mine can sprint for 4 minutes (timed) without stopping and nothing on land can catch it. Not great for much else, but love it for getting around Tiger - Solves your meat and fish needs (can kill most fish in 1-2 hits). Fast mount, great fighter, bleed attacks allow for hit and run if you want. Nice leaps too. Cute when you level it up. Other pet notes FYI Giraffe - Almost as fast as Ostrich. Can seat 2 people. Can run in water where other animals or you would be swimming. Wolf - Almost as good as tiger, no bleed attack, but i do think it still gets a pack bonus if you have multiple ones. Good for meat and only tier 2 so less points needed than tiger. Parrot - Easy to tame inside cage. Gives fortitude bonus based on its level Monkey - Gives a Heal over Time buff, and who doesn't love to throw poop at people. Easy tame Crow - Gives an intelligence buff, tame like parrot. Chicken for eggs, Cow for milk - Able to cook some decent food (and hopefully more recipes as time goes on) Just my thoughts, ill answer questions if i know em....
  19. I love our lighthouse, put it up on top of a huge cliff so we can know where our little peninsula is that has a cove on each side.
  20. Never seen that, id say sink that bastard and build a new one, heh
  21. Regular sloop can keep you away from any SOTD so long as you are paying attention and not thrown into them in the middle of a cyclone, but things happen.
  22. I think the stealth talent right now only makes it easier to feed animals when taming (so they dont bite you as soon as you approach the head from behind. It depends on where you are and if you build up there. We see a alpha or two a day, its good xp and easily dispatched by running to top of tower and just raining down arrows or setting them on fire.
  23. Exactly The bump we got already was unbelievable. No need to dump points into weight anymore cause they can carry a full compliment as is. Or if you do dump points into weight, now you end up with ships that have full cannons in gun ports below deck and another 5-10 topside as well. Its stupid easy as is.
  24. Cooking will get an overhaul i am sure as we go along, most systems will, we still have about 22 more months of development, and these guys are cranking out updates all the time. That said, yes, cooking is meant for you to travel for trade. I traded a tamed cow last night to a gentlemen for 5 maze seeds, worth it to me and him. Cooking is definitely worth spending points in. The meals made are much more filling in hunger and vitamins department, allowing you to easily stay full and vitamin enriched, and thats without putting points into vitamin skills. Armor is also very useful, and the higher tiers enhance different abilities and have different fortitude aspects. Ditto taming, I am loving it and finding it very useful, and out tamed wolves and tigers do very well in combat with other wildlife. Try the systems with the higher tier equipment before making grandiose statements about everything not working.
  25. Umm, You can fit multiple cannons on a sloop. And the brig is huge and will take all of them. You may need to take out a ceiling tile temporarily to place it, then put it back down.
