  1. I don't know why they force people into joining megas because that's the only way to survive in PvP but they usually get you to farm resources all day, not my idea of fun as I like to do my own thing. Trouble with being solo on PvP is as people have said they just come and destroy you just because they can, which is why I've always stuck to PvE. If they changed it to factions or something along those lines I will be happy to play PvP, that way you can do what you want when you want and also help same faction in a fight, not having to be forced into it. 3 or 4 factions fighting for areas of the map would be ideal, you set up in the location and you having to defend that location that way the video they created on launch would become reality as ships would come into shore in their numbers and everyone on island attacks back. Wishful thinking though.
  2. Well it's hard to say for sure what there plan is, are they going to leave PvE server up for "time being" and then take it down to make PvP server have PvE part in it? Or are they going to put the NA PvE server up once they finished doing PvP? If it's the first option, I don't have the motivation to start again after the wipe on PvE only for it to be brought down so we are forced to join the PvP at a later date. I don't see many coming back to be honest, certainly not like the 1st or 2nd wipe. Really don't get why they can't be clear on these things, it's not hard to just let people know how it's going to be or what features are coming if any at all. So frustrating as I like the interaction on PvE in helping others and they help you but with them driving players away they aren't doing themselves any favours. If they really want PvP then just cut PvE out altogether, stop beating around the bush and just do it. Lets see how many monthly updates come out of it, I bet it doesn't last more than a month.
  3. Nice one well done. More guts than me, I play solo and wouldn't attempt it myself. I've only ever done it with a group of at least 10, some good people on here and Discord organise doing them on EU PvE not sure if they still do it though not played for awhile.
  4. Trouble is if you read it says we will be keeping PvE server up for "time being" which means anyone building on there will lose their stuff again fairly soon. So why bother? Or have I read it wrong.
  5. So what you are saying is don't play PvE server unless you want everything to be wiped again? "here will be one global PVE server for the time being" Why even keep PvE server up if you aren't planning to keep it long term? You should be more clear to people because they will build and eventually you will take that server down and they lose everything AGAIN. They even have the nerve to use the same video as they did in the release, just when you think they couldn't stoop any lower. Have to laugh at the incompetence if nothing else
  6. Difference is you play with 8 people, not everyone plays in groups which is why we prefer PvE Where is the fun in not taking a hit? Where is the fun spending time on your own farming resources all day, building a ship then have it sunk 15mins later? We want to get into the pirate mood, you tell that to the devs though, they need to get into the pirate mood before we can.
  7. I play solo in PvE, used to play with another guy everyday but usually just solo these days. Used to enjoy going around hunting for buildings where the timer went down to 0, players who left the game. Was always fun to see what loot there was inside but with them changing it to vanish when timer goes down it not so fun anymore. I've never played PvP in this, you can't play PvP on your own unless you're in a group and I don't like getting raiding by massive group when I'm on my own surviving, not my idea of fun. That is why I mostly play PvE so I can keep my stuff, don't mind getting raided if I leave the timer to tick down to 0 as I raid those myself and my own fault but big groups smashing down the door of a 1 man band, no thanks. I might have to get used to PvP though if they are changing how it works, do we know yet how PvE is going to play out? Says "we are breaking PvE into something else" whatever that means. Wish they would just bloody communicate with us, so much easier. Like pulling teeth with this lot, give you nothing to go on.
  8. No, as far as I know it's a total wipe which means all skills and characters gone. This is what happened many times over the time it was released. It's a case of starting from scratch all over again.
  9. It won't be re coded I would bet money on that. They have used similar coding to Ark. What they should have done was code game from scratch years ago away from Ark but they are not capable devs to do that. They played the safe bet and stuck with code they know rather than make fresh game. If only better devs had this game would be so much better.
  10. I wish they would communicate with us, it costs nothing, absolutely free. They lost a hell of alot of people by just being silent. Probably why they reduced the map size. To think they wanted 40k players playing Atlas. Prepared to give the new team a chance but its not a good start sharing a map with no information. Not seen any of them post here.
  11. I hate those mini games, why they have them for reloading I will never know. Be much better without it Not against the lock idea though if it was something like elderscrolls online or scum. I know they are bringing warehouse into the game, not sure how that will work yet.
  12. There is a way to get around trading with other factions. One idea is you could have NPC at free port and you click trade option. It then brings up screen with all available items that people have put up for sale. You could even have search and sorting options, all factions or just certain ones. As it stands yes trading is a problem but I don't know how this trading route is going to work yet. Its whether they are bothered to listen to the community and at the moment they don't.
  13. That might be possible if you watch the weight limit and only have it under half but if you are on a resource run and weighed down you will have no chance. If they were really determined to get you they could just follow you and wait until you pull to an island, you are not safe until the anchor turns green, unless it's changed of course. I had Galleons with no cannons at all, it was made into a tame Galleon so I could fit the animals on and get resources anywhere. If that sailed through PvP territory I'd kiss goodbye to all the tames and ship. This would put me off actually making another tame Galleon if PvE is going down the PvP route. It all depends on where the resources are, will they be put near to PvP? How much resources will be within PvE? Because if I have to travel to PvP to get a certain resource then I won't even bother playing anymore unless they are going to change to factions which I very much doubt.
  14. I've always played PvE but you change it to factions so at least others on your side can help then I would engage in PvP. I play solo most of the time, I have no desire to sail past 3 or 4 ships who bombard me with canon balls. If areas are faction controlled it would be much better to move around. Maybe they could add faction members to the map if possible so you can see where the fights are or preparing for them. I hope and pray they take our suggestions on board and change it because I loved playing and want to play again but not like it is.
  15. Which is why I will never understand the lack of communication from the devs. All it takes is keep us informed of what is going on and show us something that you are working on even if it's just little bits over the months instead of the months of silence. If I was working on a game I would want all the players stick with it and at least engage with the community. Why can't they do regular monthly streams like they promised a long time ago? Something to keep the fans drawn in abit watching the game move along. I just don't get their thinking process when they just leave everything to fester. Should never have done cross platform until it has more content but we all know why they did do it.
  16. If they bring in some sort of trading then it could be good for both PvE and PvP. I know in other games if you don't like PvP you can do what you want as PvE player and just trade with PvP they are the ones who have the money and can buy goods from you. The only issue for me is if it's partly safe zones for PvE at some point you will have to sail through PvP territory and if you don't have a fighting ship you are gone straight away without a chance. Maybe we could use the gold we get to spend on PvP companies to buy protection or something along those lines. I don't know how it's going to play out, will have to wait and see I guess but there are many ideas they could implement that people have said already.
  17. Agree with you about the map being visible, when it's covered it got you to sail somewhere to explore. I think they should cover the map back up at least it gives you more motivation to actually go and explore what is there. I'd like to see PvE and PvP together but not as they are right now. I have the feeling it will be harder to get resources and items as a PvE player especially if you have to pass through PvP territory to get something. Once you've done it all the fun is gone, I know how it feels. I've built big buildings and all the ships, done discoveries and quests then you're left with just killing SOTD. It gets repetitive which is why they need to add alot more content. I don't even know if content is in the works right now or they are just changing islands around. With them all working on Ark I just can't see alot of content anytime soon.
  18. Well I was under the impression you are part of the team in some way. That is not right that they are not in contact with you, they should be allowing you to pass information on to them especially since they do not come here. I hope the new team come here and read alot of these threads because they will realise how big a job they have coming. Thanks for clarifying that up, appreciated.
  19. Well if the game had alot of content and it changed to factions then I would pay a subscription but that would require constant updates and regular content. As it stands I wouldn't pay anymore money towards this game, even if they brought a DLC out for it I still wouldn't pay it. I think the game could have been a good subscription game if it was in the hands of some good devs. There isn't enough content to warrant any subscription though and they have damaged the community so alot of players will probably not come back regardless. Don't know much about making games but I'm guessing it would require alot of time and work to change the game into how it should be, i don't see it complete anytime soon. it may even end up like 7 Days To Die, that has been out years and still in early access isn't it? Have little faith in Atlas right now but some small hope still there they may do a No Man Sky and turn the ship around.
  20. Well I will watch a few streams to see how it plays out when the wipe comes, I'm intrigued how the new map will go as well. Did they ever implement those pirate camps NPC's? I haven't played in awhile but I did think that sounded good, giving people something extra to do with more loot. They were trying to put it on PvE server, not sure if they ever did. You know what is going to happen after the wipe though, back to spamming pillars and foundations everywhere, going from past experience I would put money on it happening again.
  21. Well do you actually pass information on to the devs? Do you tell them about peoples frustrations on the forums? Because they don't come here to see it for themselves or even respond. Not everyone goes on Discord, these are the official forums of the game, there is nobody replying on here from the dev team or the mods. The only ones who post here are the ones who actually want the game to be a success and change for the better. Expressing ourselves is one thing but the devs would have to see and respond to it, I don't see much response from the devs on here. They could have nipped all this frustration in the bud months ago with replying on these forums and letting people know what is going on. It would be nice to see mods more active on the forums, I don't know how many mods there is but being on the official forums you would think there is more communication. I get the feeling it's more about Discord than anything else. I hope the new team proves me wrong and turns the game around and engages with the community more but from past mistakes I doubt that very much.
  22. In PvE you hit a point where you have done everything, you acquire all this gold but there is little to spend it on, they need to sort this out. Trading should have been in the game from the start, player shops is useless, I don't see the point in them but that's just my opinion. Still think factions is the way to go, can you imagine factions where you all head to another faction and have big battles like the video showed us before release? There could be some sort of notification as you're sailing by that there is a battle going on and go to their aid and join in. I would like this as a PvE player because the faction is working together. If it was just PvP everyone is against you. They keep telling us give us your ideas, we tell them but they never take them on board. It's all catered towards the big companies. I remember months ago Dollie and Jat used to join in group chats with the big companies passing info on but the smaller companies or solo players gets shut out, it's all wrong. I'm glad Jat and Dollie is leaving, I hope this new team read these forums and listens to the players who actually play their game, you know testing it for them like we are supposed to. Almost 2 years into the game and I would expect alot more content from them, if they put a huge amount of content in after the wipe I will come back and play but i've done most of the things, sailing is now a chore and I have no desire to sit there for hours just watching for the coloured ghost ships in the distance. The game needs a huge turnaround like they did with No Man Sky, I hope it happens someday but I very much doubt it.
  23. I don't want to get to know the new devs, the proof is in the pudding, they deliver then I will be back simple as that. I don't trust anyone at that place. They could have said something to us months ago but they choose not to, communication is key and they can't do the basics so forgive me for not wanting to know. Obviously mods naturally want to suck up for better things but that is not the way to go. You should be voicing the communities concerns and being more active on the forums just like the devs.
  24. Personally I'd prefer PvP and PvE be on the same map but separated. This is where I would like factions to come into play also so if you are not a fighting person for PvP anyone like yourself can come to your aid and help you. As for the building part I wish they would make it more interesting and when you build ships you don't just make planks but you have to make the nails also and other items. If anyone played Life Is Fudal people will know what I'm talking about, having to acquire various items to make something. In Life Is Fudal you, to make a warehouse you would have to chop down a tree into a log, cut these logs into planks or into billets.. If you wanted Wooden boards you saw them out, makes it more interesting and fun to give you more of a sense of achievement in making something, in my opinion anyway. I want to know what they have to say first on what changes are coming, which will be taken with a huge pinch of salt as I know what they are like. They say they will bring monthly updates, no you won't, i've heard that before and learned my lesson. I'm still waiting for these "monthly streams" we were supposed to be seeing. I will believe something when it actually happens. If there is big changes and new content I will come back but not if it's the same things as before, moving a few islands around and changing the regions will not bring me back at this time.
  25. If all those changes are not implemented into the new map then this won't be the last wipe either. They think they will get the players back after a wipe, people know what to expect from them and I don't see them flooding back in huge numbers. I don't mind the wipes personally but the lack of updates and bad communication is unacceptable. When they struggle to get people to work for them and end up begging on Twitter to apply for jobs tells you everything you need to know. I would never trust these devs with anything, whatever they say is taken with a pinch of salt. They were lucky New World was delayed but with it just around corner don't expect alot playing when it arrives.
