  1. Okay here is my guess: The 1. animal will be able to store and transport lots of water. The 2. animal will be able to walk and farm on the ocean floor AND store fresh air. So it will be the poor man's submarine
  2. Finding ways to abuse the system and grief other player's IS testing the system. And it is exactly what people should try on the PTR. Especially if you don't want to see these possibilities in the later version of the game. Find flaws, report them and hope that they change it. I don't understand why we shouldn't test the game on the PTR for exploits. It doesn't make sense to me.
  3. You can yell yourself to death if they don't notice. If you don't want to get captured. Don't get captured. And don't forget that the upcoming execution mechanic will give you exp. So you have a reason to kill them instead of keeping them alive. I would have a lot of fun if someone captures me. I would start singing to be as annoying as possible. But still, I would try to avoid it at any cost.
  4. What do you think about boarding ships? Got an idea for this. Maybe add it to your list?
  5. First: NO! We should NOT be able to rape players. I agree with you that boarding should be a thing I proposed an idea for this mechanic some time ago. It is still possible to upvote this thing But I have a problem with the statue idea. If you can craft such a statue and no matter how hard it is. People will craft it instead of stealing it. Statues will loose their value because sooner or later everyone will have such a thing. I think the valuable item you are looking for is Gold. On it's own the statue idea is nice. But not as powerfull item. And why should it be on a ship anyway? If we have such items they should cost an insane amount of gold upkeep. That would be interesting. the more gold sinks are added to the game the more valuable it becomes. If we have different types of "statues" for example and we make them really expensive. You have to decide which type you want or you have to be filthy rich. So we should aim for an increase in gold value. It is already on ships most of the time because of NPC's.
  6. Really? I never heard about that. But the other company has to agree to the war right? It wouldn't make sense otherwise. By the way. If this isn't the case I think it would be a nice change that if two companies agree upon war they can fight each other on PvE.
  7. I would like to see the whole World mixed for the final release. But for a new patch after wipe? Nope! This is a ton of work to design such a map. It is not that you can shuffle all those tiles randomly. Of course... the climate would be a quick reskin. But resources have to be deployed with some balance over the entire world.
  8. This complain has a looooong beard by now. Where have you been? EU PvE ? Because it went offline? :D
  9. As far as I undertstood the next patch will change the respec mechanic. You will have to travel to a freeport and buy a respec with gold. So no fast travel to respec and fast travel back but you can still do it if you really want or messed up your character. I think this is fair.
  10. Well then. Welcome to the game :D Be careful in open waters and on the forum!
  11. To be honest. I don't see a high priority in this. But I like the idea and give it an upvote. It is hard to roleplay a character that loves animals if you have to beat them during the taming procedure.
  12. So far I only played in a company with no further changes to the governance settings. Everything was company owned. Not even personal PIN Locks. Have you changed settings? What is your experience with different Settings? @Talono I would love to hear which settings you would use. Because you always state that you don't want to be a slave. So would your company be with player owned structures or company owned?
  13. okay ... just 24 people voted by now but its hilarious that empires has 0% so far xD I am curious how this will turn out.
  14. I think I understand the way you feel. But the "we all" doesn't exist. You never know what the majority thinks or feels unless you ask the majority. We can't know if the outcry on the forums was, is or will be the majority. But the devs can! They have all the data, all the feedback. The second thing I would like to invite you to think about is that we as players have a different perspective about a game than a dev. It is all about our personal experience and if you feel that something is wrong or bad it is perfectly justified because our feelings and emotions determine our experience. BUT this does not necessarily leads to the right solution. A game is a very complex system of interconnected pieces. And there are professional people designing this experience. You have to take EVERY aspect of the game into consideration that might be affected by a change. The famous "Just limit our claim flags" for example sounds simple and reasonable. But it is only the most obvious solution. That doesn't mean it's the right solution. And that's where the difference between a player and a developer is. We give feedback, we say "this is shit". But the reason why this is shit rarely the first thing that comes to our mind. Just be patient and trust the professionals who make a living with game development. If making games would be easy.... everyone would do it.
  15. I would love to see this company tax. I am always thinking about a company with the governance settings all on player owned. That way there is still something coming in for the company and everyone can do their own shit :D
  16. Real physics as gameplay mechanic in an mmo? Hell no! please not! That game would be stuck in EA for 4 years instead of 2 if they do that xD "Fake" Physics ? Yes please! Let's keep it simple and fun, cause its a game :D What I want to see is that the ship is leaning into the wind because of the wind in the sails. I am not sure if they do this. But this has led to interesting strategies in naval combat. I forgot the fancy words for upwind and downwind but your ship should get a decreased range on the side it is leaning to. The opposite for the other side. So your positioning becomes more important. I am not sure if it would add much benefit if sloops or schooner react to cannon shots :(
  17. Another soul who knows the true very first pirate mmo I think what you describe will be possible from a mechanical perspective in the next patch. But maybe reality fucks the idea If trading at freeports is expensive than player run markets might be a thing because it would be valuable. Remember that they added the "neutral" label. So I think you could set your market defense to spare neutrals. And to use the market you have to get a "license" by asking the island owner to give you the neutral status. I think we will find a way around this if there is an incentive to make player run markets. We will find a solution. The mechanics are there. So it is up to us players.
  18. At first i thought it would be a reference to Rick and Morty :P
  19. So you are looking at PvP from a wider point of view. Big picture so to speak. That is absolutely reasonable and a legit way of playing a game. It's not my personal preference to play a game either BUT I see where you are standing. But is the possibility of 24/7 raids so essential for your experience?
  20. I like the idea of bigger structure pieces. If we take a 3x3 piece for example and just add their hitpoints there is still the incentive to build them because it would take 9 times longer to pierce a hole into your base. It would be a bigger hole of course. But time might be more valuable than the size of a hole. So i guess it would work perfectly well in the current context of the game. Your base doesn't get "stronger" by hitpoints but it gets harder to raid.
  21. Can't wait for the patch to release. The best part of that would be that we can finally talk about something substantial in this forum. (I have hope) Nobody knows all the details about how the mechanics will work. But everyone is losing their mind xD At first I really enjoyed these mimimi posts. But now the only thing that happens is that I get tired. It's perfect for having a good night sleep.
  22. Thats why it is good to have reasonable relationship with other companies on your island. They will tell you if something is odd but only if they think you are a good owner. To the OP: If you build something on their island in mortar range and it stands for more than 12 hours I wish you good luck. Because then your base will be in range of their mortars aswell but they are the only people on the island that can fire them outside of war time. If you wan't to use your mortars on them you HAVE TO use a war token and by declaring war on an island you inform the whole island that you will come hours prior to the time where the war rules apply. So good luck hiding a base in mortar range for 12 hours. If you are able to talk to them and betray them and they let you build a castle in mortar range and you stab them in the back. They deserve it! Another thing I think is serious are underwater structures. As a landowner I don't want to check the whole coast underwater every 12 hours if there are some pillars. If someone builds stuff that is threatening me and I miss the 12 hours. Fine! Get the cannons ready instead. But thats impossible underwater. Now you could say that they have to pay upkeep for the pillars. But how is it paid? From a ressource box? What does them stop to build this underwater aswell? You can swim miles underwater with ressources to fill it up just to make sure that your damn pillars will stay in front of their ships. This will be the first thing that I test on the test servers.
  23. for this, my friend, you will not earn a dime unless all others may join us and rhyme
  24. Where? They talked about prefered playstyles of the playerbase. That is the only passage where the number "50" was used. But in the same sentence they talked about +200 for the empire mode. +200 is not a precise limit. So why should 50 be a precise limit. In addition to that they didn't use the word "limit" in that text passage. I am not a native english speaker so I might just don't get it. In the passage where they write specific about each mode, yes there they used the word limit. But they also said they will introduce the changes in the colonies mode that were announced before. Of course they wouldn't need the 250 player limit that was announced before if this mode isn't meant to be played by large companies. But still, this doesn't convince me that they are introducing a 50 player limit in colonies mode. I think it could be lower than 250. But not 50. That is just to small.
