  1. It worked in Sword Art Online.
  2. My reason for not playing is twofold. Partly because I want to play after I've moved and can play alone on my own server. But mostly im not playing video games because it's warm enough to stay out fishing overnight on my boat.
  3. The only thing this post is likely to warn anyone about is your apparent inability to understand what's likely to happen with a game that's in early access.
  4. Come on, man. Just get it. Please, just get it.
  5. This must be what it felt like to try to explain the fish sticks joke to kanye west.
  6. It's definitely hinted at. That's under the giant sign that says "early access". If you can't understand the premise that early access(a game advertised as an incomplete work in progress) implies the possibility of everything getting wiped out, then I can't help you. I've played several mmorpgs before official release, and every single one of them wiped their slate clean for the official release. Everyone playing the beta lost all progress upon release. It's my understanding that servers are wiped at official release so the beta and ea players don't start out already running the whole show. As for wipes in EA(be it single player or multiplayer) , sometimes it's because old saves aren't compatible with the new game version. Running servers costs money, id bet they're not going to make a seperate server to run the older code that they're no longer supporting. As far as setbacks, this game was still easy mode when I last played a couple weeks ago. The losses you'd suffer in this game pale to those in eve online, swg, or anything else with any kind of actual death penalty.
  7. I was referring to games that run a persistent world like UO or EVE Online vs something like Unreal Tournament. Apologies. I could have worded that better.
  8. Hmmmm, there's nothing sleazy about server wipes or complete overhauls during early access. Losing your progress before official release is usually expected, especially on an online game that's running servers.
  9. Im pretty sure this was a gatewall. Cant say for sure because I haven't built any gates myself, but it was extremely tall without being more than one unit high. Grappling hook would not attach, if that helps identify it. I definitely got a good laugh when I saw the name.
  10. I think the owner of the walls was "R.I.P. Atlas"
  11. Next time i'll bring a set of climbing picks. I didn't think they'd work because my grappling hook would not work.
  12. I tried. Booth was empty. No one there, not even Don Knotts.
  13. I think this is an exceptionally cool way of looking at it.
  14. Fight who? There's nobody actually there. Can I actually fight people on a pve server? And I don't have any tames, that aspect of the game is 2nd from the bottom of the list of stuff I want to do in game. It's a big part of why I never got into ark, I have no interest in taming dinosaurs. I want to craft stuff, build a boat, hire a crew, and explore. I'll check that out post wipe. Im moving after the summer, once that happens ill be able to host a private server(no access to router settings here) , which is how id really prefer to play.
  15. Im sure they have their reasons. My opinion is that blocking off an entire island on a pve server is a dick move.
