  1. that would be a reason for a structure wipe not characters, like i said in my prior post - it's just unneeded to wipe everything like they do, that's more lazy than really needed. moreover they are not revamping the old islands but just add new ones but whatever no point in arguing about this i guess ^^
  2. i think most just didn't really expect a wipe myself included, i personally thought that they might wipe structures sooner or later when they might do a world rework but wiping all for no real reason well, didn't expect it (and just to have new players even with those playing is no reason sry , this has to work later on also and nothing changed in that matter :P)...not because EA games don't do that but because they didn't do it in ark. i also think that is the reason why a lot put so many hours in the game already and a lot would not have if they knew. with the future wipes basically announced i doubt atlas will maintain as many ppl overall after the "patch spike" and also those that keep playing will play a lot less than before which is kinda sad as it was super fun until now. sure the server was not full but every grid was active...there were a lot of islands looking for new companies joining the island communities and it was looking like a good foundation to grow the game on (at least on pvp, can't tell for pve). so i for one would have tried to keep the ppl that stayed and get the rest back with good patches and not risk making those that liked the game leave over a wipe for a chance to get those back that only stayed briefly...the game won't be perfect after this patch either ^^
  3. very mature a lot of ppl had the impression there won't be wipes looking at how they did it before atlas and after this wiping characters too is still kinda harsh, adult or not, EA or not. just gonna add that if there was at least no wipe of characters i'd still have fun sailing around exploring, maybe do a FOY before the wipe but as it stands my wife and i don't feel like playing at all. losing what other ppl could take over every day is one thing...the char is just MEH. they want to rework the claim system...might like it or not but wiping chars is totally unnecessary for this.
  4. you really believe what you write do you? the population was about to reach a point where it settled as the we kept the ~11-14k online over the weekend and chances are high that a lot of those won't stick around now. those that left are likely to stay as long as they did before because the big companies will wipe them off again just different pr those that wanted land before want and island now, won't get it and leave. yes there are large companies now but they will be here later as well. still there are tons of small ones like the one i play in and those are struggling way more to get back up than the large ones and now can't even own land anymore. you are basically just making something up out of hot air acting big. not saying we didn't need changes to the claim system tho this was the last thing that needed a whole rework at least on pvp servers. way too easy offline raiding was what drove ppl away i'd say and they even made it easier and thought it was a good idea to promote pvp - which was as cleaver as what they are about to do now. sry but this is not ark, it's meant to be an mmo and mmo players do not react that good to getting their stuff wiped all together. the way to go is to keep your current players, add good patches and grow the playerbase and not to wipe those that like the game for some players you might or not might get back - as 15k online was a dead game lol - lots would love to have so many players ^^
  5. totally agree, the NGE of atlas (for those who know ^^) all that was needed is making offline raiding harder and bring it more on par with what you destroy so you think twice before doing it. for me wiping once for really big changes (could argue if the coming ones are big enough) would be ok but as they basically announced future wipes i find it hard to invest so much time again just sad cuz the game was really great until now and the new claim system just takes so much away that was fun too.
  6. well basically you can take option 1 and 2 as one and 3 and 4 so atm it's roughly split 50/50 which is still kinda bad...sure a lot are not in the forums and it's a mini poll but losing 50% is not what you should be proud of
  7. well i personally think at least on pvp servers the old claim system is better...give small and big companies ways to have or rent their land, just needs to get more solid with like an upkeep after a certain amount is reached or something and no tax on PvE. me personally only bothered that offline raiding is way too easy...with defense npc's lacking to keep you safe while not there.
  8. well all options i came up with...most should be there i guess
  9. Interested to see what others think...:)
  10. these are the points that bother me the most. 1) Wipe - you really expect ppl to play the game as they did up until now, with more wipes coming - in such a time consuming game? you talk in your stream that the folks of settlements will grind this and that? really? you might get short population boost after big patches but the server are gonna be a wasteland until you officialy state there is not going to be more wipes. i would understand partial wipes but not even bothering to keep the characters just shows how much you value your players time. besides from the changes you announced this all could be done without a wipe, you stated it yourself how it will work on non off. server, just shows that you don't really value the time of those playing daily at all...not a good sign when you want to make an MMO where persistance is king. flame we all you want EA or not, this is just lazy and only a handfull was expecting wipes under their EA banner while most thought it would be more like in ark. 2) Claim rework - sorry but you are ruining a great part of your game. companies small or big like to have their piece of land with their messages, flags etc...all gone *sigh* besides anyone playing and not finding land by now...i mean come on... ^^ moreover the fixes would have been quite simple as it was not that borked as some forum warriors made you believe. if you just added a "softlimit" with an radically increasing upkeep cost after that limit it would have regulated itself, add you bonus to let companies live in your claim to reduce it a little and there you go, remove tax from PVE to think of you guys as well - again no wipe needed at all. as of now you got communities on the islands with big companies owning more of it collecting tax for being the first front defense while smaller companies got less land but still their own...no you change it that the owner can just come over and destroy whenever he feels like doing to and screw over all smal companies basically telling them you don't get your piece of land - no way. 3) Building changes - i cannot defend my island on my own now? if the owner is not feeling like building some towers with cannons, i can't defend my base/house whatever or join the big company...i mean i am very aware that a small company can't do everything like a big one but screwing small ones over here again big time...*M.E.H* we are a very small company but we had defense like the big boys..and all the planning, maintaining etc...was super fun. all in all i really love the game, played every day since release and was all in for bugs/glitches and stuff but this just ... well dunno thanks for the hundreds of hours i had fun but now well...might check back in when you release if i found nothing better until then or you guys really take a huge nap of your coffee, breath deep and rethink how you handle all this *sad face* now go ahead and tell me how all this is EA and is normal, still this will do the EA of this game no good if you ask me - the nice community we played with is now *offline* thanks
  11. wiping in a time consuming game like altas is just a no go. EA excuse or not... not even partially wiped...all of it, not even keeping characters where you did all the discoveries and fountain stuff is just lazy. i mean i really, really love the game and was here to stay thru all the glitches and bugs and reworks and not so fun content till it gets sorted but i won't start over all the time...do you guys really expect that all just regrind all after this patch? surely we won't even get a clarification if there might or might not be future wipes...i am bummed right now
  12. the point is the game has to be balanced around there being ppl around for quite some time and newer ppl joining...if you make all start over you will not really be able to balance it around this. the devs really need to be careful about wiping and what to wipe, just when i think of all the discovery stuff ^^ ppl will just stop doing stuff or stop playing during EA if it's wiped every here and then. i mean if all get insame amounts of let's say gold due to a bug that cannot be rolled back...they surely should wipe the gold on the server but asking for total wipe will just not do the game any good. i still think if the claim rework needs a wipe it will need a wipe in a few weeks again and therefor would not be enough of a rework...it has to work so that it will change what is wrong now over a short period of time be it PvP or PvE.
  13. all this would achieve is hardly anyone bothering to play and the simulation accuracy for release would be down to zero. you can twist it all you want, if you wipe during EA you will have a super low population EA and will not be able to really test half the things you implement the way they should be tested. in the end all systems they implement have to work in the long run, so everything besides a total rework of all islands where they'd have to do a structure/claim wipe does not really justify any sort of wipe in my opinion.
  14. how about let's say a timer of a few days where you can "mark to pay upkeep" those that you want to keep and after that time the upkeep is activated and all not marked are lost. similar to what they did with the build allowance system... a wipe is just a slap in the face for most and i'd say most really asking for a wipe are not really playing. i still think that wiping a game like atlas would be very devastating to the playerbase and i would like to see it grow with good patches over time. besides all this fuss about the claim system i think the easy mode offline raiding drove away far more than the claim system.
  15. i don't get how ppl would want a wipe...the claim system has to work so companies can't just hold unneeded claims so it will regulate itself soon after the changes are made. a wipe would not help anything if it is not this way and if it is this way why punish those playing daily?
  16. still a wipe would lose way more players then it would gain in the long run. if this is going to get wiped it will be like every other EA game with low numbers...basically they could just shut it down and release it in 2 years as with ongoing wipes hardly anyone would bother playing such a time consuming game. sure those that got wiped or got no land so far (still if you want land and can't fight for it, negotations are the way to go and i doubt one can't find one if he really wants to but well...) will come back briefly but i doubt this is the way to go..we need good patches that grow the population again not sacrifice those that keep playing for those that will check back in just to see that you still can get wiped if someone is dedicated in doing so. as far as the census was so far this is early access ok, so dealing with bugs np but having wipes is a really no go at this point. i mean the claiming system needs a rework sure but if the rework doesn't work without a wipe it needs another rework as it will not work in the long run. just my 2 cents and i really enjoy this game since release non stop and don't understand all this whining about no content/bugs etc...sure there could be more content or less bugs, still overall this is still hell of a game (in a good way:P)
  17. i think the system has to be solid enough in regulating the claim situation to not need a wipe. besides a wipe would really hurt the game population...as there never was any talk about wipe and ppl dont expect it. better make all future system solid enoug so they regulate it as only this way it will also work longterm. ppl will deal with bugs and the like but will thin out with wipes on top of it.
  18. well i think atlas tries to bring mmo and survival together and while i am enjoying the game a lot since release a lot seem to not enjoy it that much i think when atlas evovles and follows the route to really bring more mmo elements it should surely be able to turn the numbers up again as this is what should really set it appart from ark. i just hope they'll stick to it and work out the stuff that works on small servers but not on mmo like worlds. right now it's too much survival for mmo players and too much griefing for survival gamers due to the bigger server i'd say for me all these survival games with all their little servers never really got me hooked although i basically love the survival genre and have always hoped for one with big servers like atlas tries to do...sure there is the limit per grid but it is still a huge world which could hold tons of ppl - for me this would be exact the game i like to play. right now it is too much "little server survival" game stuff that needs to be changed to make it work in a big world...starting with a solid mechanic to take/hold land and not this stupid offline raiding on the fly stuff. time will tell tho i personally really like the foundation so far and can't really understand all the hate around this game...played way buggier mmo's on release day not in early access maybe you don't mind a few bugs when a lot of mmo's feel like alpha on release day ^^
  19. but there was already saps added to tundra in the patch notes at least and then removed as it was not working...where there any news on that?
  20. building is still fun and i doubt small or big a lot would want to skip this all together. also small companies take way longer to get back up on their feed...having easy offline raiding possible doesn't help anyone. also what is described here is more a problem for lawless areas i for one would still appreciate it if a base was hard to take and not worth the offline raid out of weird sense of fun but should only be a reasonable target if you really want to wipe someone off an island or are in war with an alliance so it should also cost quite a lot of ressources to wipe a base. sure you should be able to attack harbours and sink ships to do eco damage but not to wipe a base while sailing by. i personally also think that the everyday pvp could get a boost if there would also be some sort of conquerable POI's like forts/bays/lighthouses that grant a bonus to the ones who hold it (including allies) or ressources when conquered with vulnurability timers where they can be attacked by someone else.
  21. well we are a small company too but had allies and tho we have been wiped a few weeks ago (allies and us^^) new allies were made and there surely is big companies that keep an eye on smaller ones in a good way too as in the end still both benefit from each other i'd say the best for small companies is to find a place were there is a decent alliance around, that's just the way it is in game like this if you don't want to play on PvE.
  22. lately i seem to get this more and more...if there is no easy or soonTM fix at least make it so that we can rebuild fundataions/ceilings benaeth lockers, smithys and the like tho minor and no gamebreaker for me it's quite frequent and annoying for sure.
  23. on PvP exploring is fun, as you never know how the locals are, overall i like the system i still think it could use more points per discovery so it feels a little more rewarding. maybe like 2 per island + 3 for each extra discovery on the islands or something like that - and this change has to be retroactive
