  1. I accidentally posted before I was finished with the post. If raid hours are raid hours and don't equal "war hours" then people can't build offensive structures during raid hours based on the post I just made. Offensive structures can only be built during war.
  2. Is that actually the case? From what I read on the captains log it says raidable during those hours. Are those hours considered "war hours"? It's not 100% clear to me how it reads on the captains log. So during those hours anyone can build on offensive structures on your land? I read these things from Settlements Settlement owners must set a window of vulnerability, currently set to 9 hours, where their island is raidable. Outside of this window, players, structures and ships will not take damage from other players. Anchored boats or docked boats will follow these same rules, if they are in the radius of a Settlement Non-settlement owners who have cannons on ships and are anchored shall not be allowed to fire cannons outside of wartime. Then these rules about declaring war which to me means raiding hours are not war just raiding hours which means raiding on foot. Not via ship or land emplacements especially when you read the build rules. Or is "window of vulnerability" = to war. It's poorly explained if it is. Declaring War Players can purchase a war token (significant cost) which can be used to declare war on an island. When war is declared on an island, players must select a schedule time in the future (3 days to 1 week) Only one war can be scheduled at once There is a cooldown after a war has ended before another war could be declared on that island Declaring war is per-island, so it is possible to declare war against multiple islands at the same time. The UI will indicate whether an island is experiencing Wartime soon or is currently in Wartime. Wars will last a fixed period of time When an island has been deemed warlike, building rules no longer apply. After the war has ended, the normal rules are enacted again. Settlement Build Rules Only the owner of a Settlement will be able to build offensive structures (mortars, cannons, and swivels) on their island, outside of Wartime. Other companies can build defensive structures (puckle) at any time. Other companies can build offensive structures ONLY during Wartime. Outside of Wartime, these structures are non-functional (inactive and unusable)
  3. Shouldn't be a big deal, those who played should know how to level efficiently now. Maps, Alphas, Boats
  4. As far as I can tell the anarchy is going live up until the new claim flag system which will change things up again. They are probably wanting to see how that goes on the lives servers for the time being. Might as well get as much data as you can before the wipe happens.
  5. I have paid 60 bucks for game that I didn't even get 60 hours of entertainment out of, hell I have paid 60 bucks for games I have barely enjoyed for a few hours. Get over yourself.
  6. Can we please get a badger tame to guard our tames and bases
  7. Yea we did this for the mass organic paste times. Shipping sugar was a lot heavier than shipping the paste (and a lot more annoying to move twice) Same for alloy it's a lot lighter than metal. Also crafting the large doors/frames is even lighter than shipping the alloy (although it probably shouldn't be) probably quite a few other things like this. I noticed also some higher end engrams lower weights even more the masterwork galleon we had panels for was half the weight for the higher tier panels in addition to the increased durability etc. Probably just needs to be gone through and adjusted on some stuff.
  8. I have been done on official for a while. I am currently maintaining stuff on an unofficial. Wish the larder and food trough lasted longer so I could be a bit more lazy about it but I have to login every 2 days or so to feed the tames and npcs. Still have a pile of gold although slowly eating that way. Winded up dropping non essential npcs of turrets/cannons to help with the gold cost as well. Just waiting for content at this point. Good chance the cluster I am on will be wiped here at some point so it may all be for naught anyways. At this point all I have left to do is grind engrams for lucky rng rolls and make high end gear. So hopefully more time consuming content isn't far off but I feel it might be so maybe it will be best to just let it all go and wait for either official wipe or a reset unofficial down the road. In reference to this visual crash. There is one island we had setup for cranking out organic paste when it was still required for stone where quite often when I am in the corner with all the pestles/mortars (no idea what causes it or if those a re related or if its the island or what) but I get a long long hang then the game crashes. Occasionally it pops up with a D3D error saying my video driver unhooked or something sometimes it will just crash out and go back to desktop and sometimes I have to crash the game to relog. Another annoying thing if you quickly relog in it pops up your player is already in game but then removes the rejoin option from the main start menu. I usually have to reboot 1-2 times hoping I waited long enough for my character to fall asleep. I too have been in situations a few times where I was sailing (back when I was grinding out levels at the start) and when applying skill points the game would hard crash the same way and I would be a ghost ship (luckily someone was onboard those times) but I was at the wheel and didn't drop off for a good minute or two. Pretty sure they fixed that bug but I also avoided doing that ever again after it happened a couple times. The crash during vital stuff would be really annoying. Middle of combat, out on a tame, doing maps, sailing ships, in the middle of a storm, fighting the kraken, killing stuff at a golden island, doing the FOY, the ghost ship, clearing SOTD... I 100% get your frustration on that. Good luck on your endeavors wherever they take you and hopefully you'll be back down the road sometime!
  9. Bring on the wipe. I think it should be a regular thing after big patches till EA is over. The whole point of EA is to test the crap out of the game. If people are unwilling to lose stuff to being beta testers just be patient until the game goes live. Even then bad stuff can happen and rollbacks etc will occur sometimes. That is part of mmo life. Throw the balance in the air, bring in fresh and old blood alike. I think it's a healthy thing for the game. I know there are lots who will claim that everyone will just quit. Hate to break it to you I already quit because of boredom. I am looking for big content and the new rush again. If the content is in depth enough I will come back for a wipe 1000%
  10. Nope its going to hook into the same sound device edit: as in it's one stream and no way to split. They would have to code it into the options to select the device for each audio stream. I think most people use discord at this point which lets you do this but I realize obviously with this game you want to be able to speak with others in game so I agree this would be a nice feature to have added. Let us select the audio out for game/voice as well as select a "mic" in the game menu without using windows default. This can be useful for both streamers AND people who are splitting audio to from different sources.
  11. One of two things happened. Either some of the content is ready but not all of it which really a content update shouldn't be all or nothing it would be better to drop what is ready so it can be played with and fixed sooner than later thus not delaying an even more massive heap of bug fixes for later. Option 2 which is very possibly the situation at hand is that they are honestly that far behind on dev time for the content update which could be due to a number of reasons which we are not privy to. Perhaps a lot of time has been spent on other background things which we won't directly notice but could be evident in all the patches for server optimization or maybe they already shifted dev time towards the other mentioned claim flag issues etc before finalizing the work on other the content patch. Surely there are parts of the big update ready to go. It's quite clear the guillotine is done from the video. I am assuming the bookshelf is a fairly easy port from ARK and adding maps would take minimal coding to add. I agree they should trickle out whats done though.
  12. Probably could of been worded better in the patch notes
  13. I was really looking forward to the content update hoping it would suck me back in a bit. I am still playing but kind of in stasis atm maintaining stuff and playing a little bit here and there. If they are seriously going to address some of these big issues and make some sweeping changes I can wait for the content, although it would be nice if they trickle out some of what they have done alongside balance adjustments. They are also going to be bringing up additional test servers to have people test out stuff before they implement it live to try and find issues which will hopefully help stop the post bug fixing pattern and help things be fixed before they go live.
  14. I don't get why everyone thinks people will bail if they wipe the servers. I found the start land grab and building the best part. If they did wipe the next time around I have a lot more knowledge about the game mechanics. What to focus on to level, where resources are, which islands are worth taking etc etc. The idea no one is going to keep playing is just silly and that no one will come back is also funny. If they made a big campaign about come back for a fresh start and some big balancing changes and see how it works out from a fresh start all over they will get far better data than dropping it into the live game as it is. The data will be skewed as to how effective the new system actually is at resolving some of the issues we are talking about.
  15. At first I thought this was actually a repost of something from the devs until I actually got into reading it. That said there is a lot of good changes I can get behind, some not so much but on the whole you actually fooled me for a minute until I started seeing lots of spelling errors.
  16. I haven't done much looking for jellyfish. I have found a few alphas scorpions and turtles which gave me a good chunk. But I agree on the whole (Ants & Spider) , Scorpions being the worst. Turtles you can actually find lots of so that can be grinded out, although it would be nice if they gave slightly more shell (thinking pigs). Scorpions definitely spawn infrequently in certain areas as do ants my base has a spawn for ants just outside I see them almost daily and also get a spider occasionally and a few of the other islands I frequent have scorpions fairly regularly but compared to bone (I have a fairly big piles), scales (I have tens of thousands of scales from all the cobras), the other 3 I probably have a bit over 1k of maybe? That is getting tens of each per usual gather. Maybe a bit over 100 on an alpha. All the other mats are pretty easy to get/gather in quantity. Even mythos is not terribly hard to get just a bit of work to kill the stuff that gives decent amounts.
  17. Yea if I don't see the lion/tiger first usually the last sound I hear before I know I am going to die is 'thud thud thud' from their feet. Then I get grabbed, punch my way out of it's mouth, shoot the thing in the head and die from the bleed. Even a low level one tears you up. A cobra I can hear from a good distance off. As soon as I hear that sound I just run from the sound, spin around and locate it and try to shoot it under the head if I can, pretty much dies instantly. But the hit box can definitely be wonky sometimes as can their movement so sometimes it takes a few shots.
  18. Yea behind the head has been broken for a while now. I don't remember what patch it was but at some point belly feeding became the only way to feed them. Periodically I can get a feed in straight on from the head but this usually involves me getting the crap kicked out of me. The belly location is not exact either. I can drop and elephant just slightly left or right of the same spot and have it never hit me once or hit me damn near every time I walk in to feed it. It's very finicky. That said I have done quite a few tames despite the fact it is very bad at the moment. Not sure what exactly they adjusted. It was around the same time people were complaining they could no longer feed a tame through a solid wall which let you feed them without ever taking damage. I did the old door frame tame pen and never had issues until after this periodically if the head is inside a door frame I can't feed them and have to remove the door frame. For anything bigger than a door frame we usually leave a corner out and pull them to the corner constantly and drop them there so their head drops in an open area. For smaller stuff we usually play tag after we get its hp low and drag it back across the middle of the pen as we bola it so its laying in the open. Adds a little more effort. Hopefully they bring back the feeding from above the head sooner than later.
  19. They are different but it wouldn't take much effort to generate different island shapes since the stuff on them is all different in some way or another. Mind you there are still SOME islands with identical features but different foilage etc which does make it look different. The Unofficial I am on has multiple copies of the island I was living on in official and I do agree they were distincly different there was areas under water, or where land was missing but it didn't make sense that the island looked the exact same since those spots should appear differently on the map. But I am hopeful this is something they will adjust before the game comes out of EA because I think it is an important thing to do.
  20. Yea there have been some suggestions to fix this like placing a simple black line around the border of the X to contrast it. Being able to select a color would be even better. Definitely needs something done though.
  21. I sail most of the time but I do also use beds when time doesn't permit me to complete a trip. I live in this place called the real world where I have to be an adult sometimes and I can't plan my life around atlas. If they want to add a config option to remove fast travel for people who want to go hardcore mode that is great go setup a server and get your hard on for sailing but the rest of us have stuff to do and sometimes we have to fast travel to maintain stuff when life happens.
  22. I deal with them just fine, doesn't mean they shouldn't be scaled down (in size) talking the actual physical size of the model. Try reading past the first sentence next time and this would have been obvious
  23. I wish they would scale down some of the wild animals. Rattlesnake is about the right size for what it is. Crocodiles are way to big, so are cobras. Cobras also hit a shit ton harder than rattlesnakes. Cobras should be a lot less common than they are. You could honestly say that for most of the animals in Atlas atm. I would love to see more variety and less of the copy paste of animals on every island. Pretty much going to find cobras, pigs, rattlesnakes, seagulls on every island. The ones which lack these have Yetis, wolves, or tigers. I also love how nothing ever causes the predators to flee or think twice about attacking. And if you walk into a situation where to are attacking each other they suddenly hate you more than each other and both come after you until you or they are dead. If you happen to die then they suddenly hate each other again. I don't mind the survival aspect of the game at all. Just feel it's too much you vs everything. If animals in the real world were actually like they are in Atlas we would have far less people surviving through the ages.
  24. Yea I have started using grappling hooks as much as possible, If I have to use climbing picks I store all my worthwhile gear made from blueprints.
