Lets forget about the fact they've already announced the wipe, that's happened, no point dwelling on it. Also lets think properly about this before making silly statements. They can't wipe until the big March update comes, why? Because the big March update brings the new system that requires the wipe. That big March update is not ready to be released. So lets ask you, why you think wiping servers in a week makes any sense whatsoever?

I believe they said on stream only Golden Age can't be claimed, and of course freeports/lawless.

Islands only become settlements if someone claims the island. I believe all islands can be claimed besides Golden Age Ruins and Freeports etc. This is something that is certainly confusing. This is what they were saying on stream about if you don't want people building on your claim then you can stop them but it will be more expensive for the settlement owner to pay upkeep. But this raises the question as to why would anyone want to build on a settlement if their structures and loot etc are at risk by the settlement owner. It seems odd to me, but maybe there is more detail to come.

No it's not a joke. You either don't bother logging in until wipe happens, or you log in and mess about while it's on 6x rates just to have fun, maybe try out things you didn't want to risk doing before etc. So yes there are reasons to log in still, but you do what you want to do.

What he means by it is the fact he didn't read what you said. He's pretty much trolling people in all his posts, hence why he didn't bother reading what you said and went straight into posting.

I've just rewatched that part of the stream it's around 34:00 in the stream. I think what they say is, rather than settlement owners blocking people from building, it's more that if people build and they want to get rid of people from the island then the settlement owner will end up having a more expensive upkeep as they have to pay it themselves. I don't think there's a way to actually prevent players building.

To be honest, whether it was 3 days or 3 weeks it won't make much of a difference to the drop in numbers as it had already dropped to 28% before the announcement. The damage was already done ages ago. By making the announcement 3 weeks in advance (if it is 3 weeks) then news will spread and people will have time to get ready for it. If it was announced 3 days before wipe then news wouldn't spread as quick and people wouldn't have the opportunity to jump on right at the start to get land. There's no way anyone here can determine how it will impact on the current player base whether positively or negatively. All we can say is it can't get much worse than a 28% player base.

Or, maybe, just maybe, people will still play to have some fun messing about with the 6x rates because they won't care what happens in game. So no, no-one is totally wrong, just people have different opinions on how the months notice will impact on players. Some will stop playing until wipe, some will still play and mess about.

It's easy to blame people that couldn't find land for the reasons the Devs decided to wipe, but anyone with a brain knows why the wipe is happening. Everyone knows how bad the claim system was, the overlapping for one. I hate that there will be a wipe, but I agree that it is necessary, i'm not going to blame other players when it's not their fault. What I don't agree with is the claim system being completely removed from PvE, but hey i'm just gonna blame that on you for being you.

If someone places a claim on an island they can chose to prevent anyone building on it. The downside to that though is the full upkeep is paid by the company. But yes people can claim an island and make it company only.

The new claim system? What new claim system? Their idea of a revamped claim system is to remove it entirely.

Wipe is at the end of March with the big update.

We were told the claim system was going to be revamped. Well, simply removing it entirely from PvE is not a revamp. It's just choosing the easy option of getting rid of a problem. Which in itself will create further problems. I for one liked having my own little claim, it is what interested me in Atlas. Removing that removes my interest.

I stand by this decision, I'll be ending my Atlas experience when the wipe comes. I hope though that it helps build the population of the game rather than damages it further.

Good luck claiming land in PvE when land claims will no longer exist and structures decay over time that you need to upkeep. Laughing at people and calling them names, wow you big man aren't ya.

The wipe has nothing to do with cheats and duping. The wipe is because of the claim revamp.

It's an entire wipe, everything including characters are going to be wiped, nothing will exist.

They have literally just confirmed on live stream that the Official network will be wiped with the March update.
