I said this in a different post but the response I had filling out a ticket for inappropriate conduct (resource blocking and basic island blockage) was taken care of in less than 5 days. The GM wiped all of it and it blew my mind. The ticket information is a pain to collect but it shows them your serious. It gave me real hope for the future of PVE that someone cared enough handle the issue.

Considering they want to encourage trading they should do what pirate: caribbean hunt did. Instanced islands you own, everything else it lawless. The islands you own are basically shelled out rocks with few resources forcing trading and more piracy.

wargaming has used hex maps for territory control for years for reasons that it works. Just make them small enough hex grid so the shoreline can be followed, but not so small that blocking fences can be built.

Sorry still waking up drinking coffee... When i did most of my SotD fighting i was still new to the game and i ran 21-24 fine cannons on a common brig w a 180 frame. Had 6 per side, 6 rear and 3 in front. Also i ran the Captain skill tree spec giving faster cannon reloads Another caveat, we had a company member nekkid ready to fast travel to repair as readed who had max repair skill Also its been a while, after adding crew slots i focused on defense to offense at a 3:1 ratio if i remember correctly.. Brought down some red SotD (Brigs maybe) but i dont remember more because i wound up rage scuttling the brig due to a glitch. Last thing i dont recall the SotD rewards being very substantial given risk vs reward..

"Ive seen planets turn faster than galleys" was how i felt after using them to fight SotD.. And recovering the loot took longer than the fight i completely agree w @George Catcher on both points... and my gally had 6 handling sails

I'm pve, and always do ALOT of damned ship hunting. I use my 20 cannons BRIG (10 cannons each side), NO shotguns, no guns at nose or stern, just usual, as they were, boardside fights. Already took down lvl-60 damned galley for quest (and got masterwork ceilings + 250 gold as reward, lol). And I use ONLY MEDIUM CANNONS. Their only disadvantage - is range a bit lower then SOtDs has. Buy they are turning and that's very important for fights I do. With this accurate "sail by" maneuvers, and with rally and overdrive I can do 3--4 volleys per "sail by". With big cannons It would be a single shot. IMAO - big cannons worth in "shotguns" and only on stern/nose pointing ahead/back. They gr8 at kiting/chasing tactic (which I don't do). But I'm not sure if they are available right now out of gunports. p.s. - I once tried Galley for SOtD hunting and found those battles a real torture. With lack of maneuverability it's one sail by then 2 minutes straight and then one minute turn... you'll spend like for ever to battle each damned ship, get loot from only last one you take down, then spend another forever to do maintenance. Brigs are fun : )

Devs a lot talk about caring for new players. Tell me how to get level for those who didnt manage to use exploit in early days of the game? Return exploit or wipe levels to all players!

There was a LOT of griefing going on at first. I think they have more support now - also they work better on PvE as their general view of PvP is "you got cannons deal with it". My mate had 6 of his friends get banned in the last few months.

Yea i meant a front and rear lock via broadside using 2 harpoons.. Probably sounds better in theory than reality. (Gally vs whatever) However this would, theoretically be a POSSIBLE part of boarding methodology so my head isn't completely in the clouds lol Of course SotD cant be defeated via boarding im pretty sure... So oh well. Maye possible uses later

LMAO. Sorry to laugh at your tragedy. But it has happened so many times now that I found it funny to see that other players go through this too. I know that what happened to you is horrible, but I really think it is very good that the game can have this kind of experience. After all, if you look closely, the problem was yours on several issues. 1 - I learned that to navigate safely you need to navigate near the grid lines. There you can escape SODS, storms and fog. Just run to the other grid. 2- Never sail without extra boards and boards. When your ship left for the sea, already put some in your inventory for emergencies. 3 - Never sail with extra weight. 4 - Never approach an island with all sails open and at high speed. It is very likely that you have a lag and when you return you are already taking damage on the sand or on another ship. 5 - Never teleport from your boat to another bed if your boat is in the middle of the ocean. I've lost ships like that. The Game is buggy and your ship's bed no longer appears as an option to return. 6 - Never travel on your ship with all your belongings at once. Make several trips, it will take longer, but it is much safer. 7 - While approaching islands, always keep an eye on your map. I already had problems with shallow places where there were stones out of water and I didn't see them. When I found out it was too late. These are some tips that I learned in the worst way. In all of them I lost my boat. And so I learned several tricks to stay alive. I think this is what matters in a survival game. Learn to survive. I get sad when I lose everything. And literally I have already lost everything several times. But I rest a little, I recapture my patience and when I come back I come back smarter and more motivated.

End of 3rd season June Large cannons ONLY worked in gunports, zero placement options anywhere else on ship. This why i ran about 4 per side on the bottom deck placed in the middle of my gally. Did 2 big battles annihilating 6+ SotD formations via raw firepower & slow manuevers. Never tried harpoons but considered it. Ship was specced 160def/ 160 offense the rest split between beds and sturdiness. The Captains feats help a TON Became annoyed at the inability to manuever and only recovering like 20% of the flotsams. Considered getting a teammate runng a brig to tail me, covering my backside and to pick up loot. Docked it and set it aside as a possible Kraken ship but then wipe occurred

Both others and myself have had variations on this idea.. Beachfronts should be pre divided, visibly on land like a risk map, into claimable zones. Period. Problem solved. Enough room for a moderate base, shipyards, oceanview and inland access. Problem solved zero eyes on site required beyond initial set up and nuanced followup. Ez pz

I do get what you are saying, there is NO grey area in that situation, none at all you either are one or you are not, AGREED. As far as killing someone? There are allllll sorts of grey areas there so DISAGREE there, a killer and self defense are two totally different animals facts being what separates one from the other, the end result is no grey area as dead is dead, it's that in between that is so shaded so no, imo it is NOT so black and white. After all of this talk of grey I must go listen to some Mr. Jones w Grey guitar by Counting Crows been too long:)

Funny story from me. My crewmate took horse for his purposes. I told him like: "Tell me when you done, I also need horse to go for metal". When he was done, he told: "Ok, the horse is yours, take it". I came to my base and saw this

And yeah. One more tip from me (I wanna see more ships like that in the game). You can attach wall hooks to ship surfaces (masts, wall etc) and put lanterns or torches there. Then you stand on podium or stand behind steering wheel. You press "O" by default, and then press "O" after 1.5 - 2 seconds. It'll light up all lanterns/torches you attached to your ship. You press "O" again - and all light will turn off : ) Just don't put hook to the bottom part of middle sail. Because of just 500 hp, it will be destroyed every fight lol : ) (this picture from another thread about wrong handling sail position).

For usual sotd hunting it's not a problem. Even if your vessel will run like 8 knots, damned ships are slower anyway (they do like 6 knots I guess). But the weight matters in Kraken fight. Unfortunately I didn't take part in one, and don't know of how strong incoming damage will be, how many resources goes for repairs, and how many cannonballs we need for a fight. So all my thought of weight are just a theory : )) I also didn't do a single golden age, and in some cases well armed stern will required for hydras. I use to make stern double as high and put there a ballistas for whales, but now I use my schooner for whales quest.

Let me just show it. My SOTDs destroyer I came up to. This is my personal experience (I took down hundreds of damned ships). - I've got 140% sturdiness for longer sink time, because in fight vs high lvl Galleys I always have few planks gone, so I don't wanna panic because I'm sinking. - I've got 220% of resistance. - Rest is in damage. I've tried to put 4000 in weight but it didn't make any noticeable difference. But anyway, if I ever plan to go Kraren (which I do) I'll have to put 4000 in weight because I'll need a lot weight for maintenance and cannonballs. - I use 1 handling sail and 2 speedsails. This is standard. Handling one need to be able to move counterwing, during the fights. But I didn't ever tried another setup. - I have as empty middle part as possible, because most of sotd's damage lands here. I also painted all ceilings to chess like, for easier navigation during maintenance. - I have extra guns in front and my wheel, 2nd deck entrance and barrel at back. - When I departure to my mission I bring like 2000 wood, 3000 fiber, 2000 thatch, and 500 metal for maintenance (maybe a bit more). Also I have hide, 100 alloys, some keratine and other stuff, for repair... like a barrel : ) And most important. I brings 4 planks, 8 gunports, steering wheel and speedsail with me. Because sometimes damned ship destroys that. I was couple times on my way back to base with 2 sails : )

Thank you very much for the informative post. I am currently using a brig which I think will use for SOTD farming once I have the galleon. I am aware of how terrible the galleon is when it comes to turning etc (especially without handling sails, i've always used speed sails on it). Just another question: what sail combination do you use on the brig for SOTD farming? Thanks again in advance

I just had someone pillar and gate spam my boats by building into them, because she was super pissed I built 5 small bases near some resource nodes. That's griefing/exploiting. Go to the contact page and report it if they do not remove their stuff. What you're saying isn't griefing exploiting. See what you're doing is illegal here https://www.playatlas.com/index.php?/code-of-conduct/

Did you misunderstand me? Not sure. I didn’t say breeding tames was being lazy. I am saying that very specific people in companies have the time/opportunity to do it and others don’t. The lazy remark is to the people that don’t want to have to wake up at certain times or don’t want to have to babysit the babies. Yes that is laziness. If you don’t want to do that then you simply don’t deserve it. Hence the “go buy it”. Stop being lazy once again.

What it comes down to is your fortitude. Regardless of what anyone tells you, grieving is grieving. If you stoop to their level(at any point regardless) you are just as horrible as they are and there is no excuse for it, o don’t care what they did. if you kill someone you are a muster and if you grieve someone you are a griever. I love it when people act like there is a gray area which there is not. Because regardless of the reason why you killed someone(self defense) you still killed someone lmao, and regardless of the reason you grieve someone(they did it first) you are still a griever. please take that into consideration because by definition those are the only two options. You either are one of them or you are not. Most definitely black and white without any shade of gray let alone 50.

I used large cannons on the bottom deck in some middle gunports. Theory being lower deck doesn't shoot as far as upper decks and mid ship horizontal rotation isnt as important + extra dmg

Thats just it, buying a tame isnt lazy, you had to go get gold to buy said tame. Having someone else breed for you isnt lazy, if your out doing other meaningful activities for the company. Im not a huge fan of treasure mapping, but love breeding. So I breed, others map. I supply better bears, they get gold, then when a good stat is up for sale they can buy it to feed my habits. As to the iq on the forum, i dont think its the forum, it feels like the whole internet has gotten really dumb over the past year.

It would be interesting to remove the timmer from manufactured foods and add the option of being able to sell them for coins

When can we buy a lower ping? Cause 250 on PVE isn't low enough. I wanna see 400 baby!

Very true. If you want to see good building art from a game that is far superior to atlas you would look at Conan exiles builds. Conan is for base building. Let’s hope that atlas at some point becomes ship building. Oh yeah and not the stupid turtle shell ships either. Actual ships that look nice

Can we get Jerboa's as a new tame from Scorched Earth Ark DLC? I believe they will be awesome and practical to have to tell us about incoming weather while we are sailing and they will make the best and cutest shipmates a pirate could ever ask for!

Ahoy Pathfinders, News from the Cabin Major news! We have been working on our plans for some time and getting ready to give all you Pathfinders the details of our new ATLAS journey. We’re growing the development team and we’ll be starting to introduce those team members to you next week! Updates! Our first major change to the ATLAS will be a whole new World Map which is designed to intensify the fun at higher levels and make it a bit safer for lower level players. This is just the first step in the greater plan to shift gameplay from the land out on to the open seas! This new World Map drops in the first half of July for both PC and Xbox. Another piece of ATLAS’ grander plan is to focus on PVP play with an eye towards breaking out PVE play into something else. As part of this plan, we’ll be taking NA PVE offline and leaving the EU PVE server as the official PVE world for the time being. Bringing a new World Map online will require a complete reset of the system, something we don’t take lightly. We wouldn’t do it if we didn’t feel that it was vital to the new experience we want to create for you all. We have new goals for supporting the game and delivering regular (dare we say monthly!) content updates that will bring joy and piracy back to the open seas, with plans for Trade Winds, Farms, Warehouses, and more! Stick with us on this ride and we’ll sail the high seas together! Im fine with that i guess... if they nerf predators into the ground. Or buff melee to be viable. Or add a reliable healing item into the game to deal with losing 75% hp after every creature kill. The fact that eating too much meat or not enough fish kills me is totally spot on realism too. Oh, and the ghost ships, super realistic. Oh, and the fact that i dont have to physically grab every cannon ball from storage every reload. Yes.. this game is super realistic.
