  1. It can also have incredibly funny unintended consequences. Before the first complete wipe people were abandoning their claims all over. For the lawls I would claim their bases, tear down their gates, and put their animals on aggressive and wander just to see how long they would last. I did this one place where the person had around 50 bears all lined up in neat little rows. Put them all on A&W and leave to go mess with other stuff. Popped back by around half a day later and I notice that there is huge knot of bears on the beach. As I get closer I see a bunch of baby bear corpses, then more baby bears just wandering around. They would last about 5 minutes, then just die. I created the Baby Bear Massacre on death beach. Was something like 20 baby bear corpses strewn around.
  2. Yep, and that nagging child puts up higher numbers than the PVP side. At least for EU. PVE NA usually hovers about half of PVP NA. These are not my feelings. The data can be tracked up to the minute by just looking here. https://atlas.hgn.hu/
  3. PVE always was and always will be an afterthought. They knew that if they billed it as a pvp offline raid title they would get a pittance of the custom they got during the bogus trailer hype. All gameplay decisions have been made to appease a very small minority of bros, the animals they have released---pvp centric.(APC/Fire truck/Poison armor ignore incoming), and it will not change. If this had been a sub game, they would have had to cater to what the masses wanted, but as b2p you get what they are willing to give. My tinfoil is that it is a calculated move to drive even more to single player and the new mini-servers, once it gets to that point, close official and save that cost all the while crying crocodile tears about how they were misunderstood. They are just trying to hold on long enough to get past the Xbone people so they can quick cash grab then outtie.
  4. Nope, you give them up too. It is in the description. Only for new claims. "after first claiming" and "all structures" On Twitter Jat confirmed your stuff goes bye-bye too. - Settlement Owners can now raze a settlement after first claiming it. This will destroy all structures on the island. The cost to raze will be 12k gold on PvP servers and 25k gold on PvE servers. Settlement Owners will need to wait 48 hours to be able to raze an island after claiming it. The raze option will then be available for a 24-hour window only. This option is only functional during peacetime on PvP networks.
  5. If you think people are upset now. Just wait 48 hours. Finger on the button.
  6. Wonder how they going to get around the "No multi-player" bit. https://www.cnet.com/news/xbox-one-creators-program-early-access-welcome/ TL:DR Microsoft will stop deciding which games are good enough for the Xbox store. Even wacky, unfinished, "early access"-style games will appear there.
  7. Why would they care about wiping or not wiping. The game is dead, its reputation is shit, they have your money. I could understand worrying what the current ever-shrinking playerbase cares if this was a sub game, but it is b2p. If everyone quits they have a reason to shut down officials and save oodles of cash. You can bet that is coming once the Ark Brah CEO figures out that code his buddies let him buy is a huge money suckage.
  8. If you build on an owned island, the owners have 24 hours to remove what you have built if they want to. There are hundreds of unclaimed/lawless islands available and an ever-shrinking playerbase. If someone has taken the time to remove your structures, catch a clue, and move on.
  9. Wouldn't matter if they let people know where the spawn points were ahead of time. People are dicks. Think of the number of times you have rolled up on POIs or discovery points that people have walled in to build on. In other cases they can be great. Was always a good feeling to roll up on a map on top of mountain that someone had already built a ramp up to. (and we found many of those, once again reinforcing that map spawn points are static). I had a map one week on a nice clear beach on an unclaimed island right in front of a poi dock. Pop the map and move along. Next week I have the same map. Show up and some idiot has built his house with the dock inside it. AoD spawn half on the beach, half in his house. I spend 15 minutes bouncing the bear against his walls to get a swipe through a window just right to kill the ones inside. If he had built solid walls would not have been possible. So who is wrong? Me for doing my map, or the douche that built his straw hut over a npc structure?
  10. Yep, now going to have to put down two pillars instead of one. Joy.
  11. The spawn points do not move in my experience. I usually pick up maps on one of our home islands that I guess means I get many of the same maps. Jat confirmed that the maps rarity and distance from you are determined by where you pick them up. You are never going to pick up a masterwork that is in the next zone. I have been to the same spot for the same map at the same rarity and gold many times. How you find out where spawn points are on your own island is random. We have found a couple on ours by just tagging along with people when they land to do maps and then seeing where the AoD spawn. We then put up a signs around the perimeter of that point to let others in the company know not to build there. Animal spawn points are more tricky. We had a neighbor on a lawless go into decay which cleared his stuff. That island had never had horses on it since the beginning. After his stuff went away, suddenly the island is full of horses.
  12. So here is a solution. Build your barn (actually most structures) over water. We found before the first wipe that building out from the coast and putting animals over water eliminate several problems. Maps don't spawn in water, animals like snakes and alphas don't spawn and drop from the sky. Build in stone. Think 3 little pigs. You know what happened to the first two who built in thatch and wood. If the map spawned level 97s then it was a masterwork map worth over 2k gold. On a weekend where they are giving 4x exp and 2x gold, I can bet the person who sailed all the way there was a bit peeved.
  13. To respawn at a desired location requires you to place a bed. Place a foundation and then a bed on top of it for land locations. Put one on your boats for another. They also give the option to spawn in current region (random island in that zone, which may or may not help you) and home region. Since it sounds like you are playing single-player that home region will be M7 (same starting freeport for everyone in SP)
  14. Here are up to the minute numbers. Actually PVE on official is still more popular on EU and holds its own on NA compared to their numbers. The numbers have actually increased slightly for those that are watching them since singleplayer came online. People who play either style always are of the opinion that their preferred style is the one that is dominant "for the majority" but data is data. https://atlas.hgn.hu/
  15. Hmmm...are you on pvp or pve? Pvp the whole point is blowing up other people's stuff. Some games limit it to online interactions, this one does not. In PVE people use boats to grief others, blocking points of access, parking boats with pre-planned names to send messages or trigger. The only way someone can demolish someone elses boat is if they leave it unanchored. The game itself removes structures once they are past 10 days automatically without a login by the owner, and boats are 3-4 weeks depending on server. If someone is obviously griefing you, take a screenshot and include that file in a ticket to CS. Don't post info here, they really don't like the whole name and shame thing, and you may find yourself on the opposite end of moderator action than you had planned.
  16. Put the ones you want to die on aggressive and wander. They will fly off and get up to shenanigans. You will either end up with Super Parrots, or them dead.
  17. This is Official PVE in my case. We knew that anyone could build anywhere and have a couple settlers who have been with us since the beginning. They were of the same mind to keep the island clear for spawns and treasure maps and only build small outposts. We had a message telling everyone that we had public taming pens available right near the shore and not to build over resources or spawn points. Went great for about two months and then one ahole had to go and ruin it for everyone. This is why we can't have nice things.
  18. If they don't render them in every 10 days, they will go away. If they haven't gone away that means someone has taken the time to at least visit that island to keep refreshing them. We had to pillar our claimed island because fuckwits decided to grief and drop like 250 foundations on it that we had to clean up. We dropped stone pillars every 4 meters or so all over to stop the problem.
  19. Yep, noticed this also on on EU PVE. Put 1000 gold in silo to feed 4 crew on an island. Noticed that some germans had parked two brigs and a galleon at my island. Came back next day and gold down to 600. So either my crew are now costing 100g per day or as the OP posted. Edit: Just checked flag. An island that costs me under 200g upkeep every 24 hours has blown through 1500 in the last day. I was wondering why people were parking their galleons that I had never seen much traffic on before. Guess the word is out and the new way to grief your neighbors is suck up their gold.
  20. So back to the OP, last time we had increased speed on breeding it may have been convenient for those with limited time, but it fucked the final stats on the imprints. So not exactly a good thing.
  21. You can adjust a plethora of sliders in singleplayer and mod it also. If you think the game is "too dumbed down" crank the difficulty to 1.0. Official are set to 0.2 to give you a baseline. Higher level and more spawns, and better loot.
  22. There is definitely something wrong with their math. Decay timer of 5000 days on berries? Crew suddenly going on a shopping spree and cost 10x as much gold. I put 1000 gold in to feed 4 idle crew on an island where I had turned the flag off. Came back the next day to 600 gold in the silo. Hmm...I guess they reaaaaaaalllly got more expensive.
  23. If you are playing on anything but official there are several furniture mods out there.
