  1. The reason is historically in MMOs character wipe have only happen when you are invited to a beta test that had a starting and an ending point. I can't recall a character wipe in an MMO that happened outside of that framework. Everyone expected big changes, but at this point without something other being stated, they expected their characters to persist through those changes.
  2. No kidding! The question is, would he have done that if he knew a wipe was coming?
  3. They don't need to tell us of changes, we will have changes. They should tell us point plank if we will ever lose our progression again.
  4. It's really up to you and your play style. If you're a weekend warrior just wanting to kill some time and shoot some guns, the game it still the same. If you're a progression minded MMO'er that focuses on advancement, you have nothing to work for. If they announced yesterday or in 3 week, most if this anger would still be here. At least this way people have time to deal with the rage and decide if they will continue to play before the wipe. That's better then deciding and sitting out the first days after the new release.
  5. It might lessen the pain if it helped us get our already earned levels back, without the full grind. I don't need a friend but x5 XP on the hat might put out some fires. I like this game. I just can't see doing the full grind a second time.
  6. Scheduled and announced far in advance. Not after they sold the game and got to a point of people having 500 hours. When you did that testing, you got an invite to a beta to test. Like the rest of us.
  7. I have been gaming for longer than Jat has been alive. I have alpha's, beta'd and EA'd. I have played every major MMO since there were MMOs. I played SWG from the start to the end with 5 accounts. I've played Eve Online & WoW for their whole run. I even took a run at some of those MMOs like entropia. I've seen major map changes. I've seen engine changes. I've seen near total game rewrites. I have never seen an MMO wipe toons.
  8. I would agree with you 100% if they didn't wipe his toon. But they did, so I disagree with you 100%. Losing your toon after such a time investment is an outrage.
  9. I think if you just avoid any heavy ship clusters and don't block anyone's exit, you will be fine for a few hours.
  10. Watch the live stream today before you do anything. No reason to rent or buy if land becomes available in this next patch. 2 PM PT
  11. Every MMOs pushes group play. They do this because they feel you will make friends and will stay/play longer. Most MMOs later come to an understanding the solo players are a large part of their base and they need to have support for that play style also.
  12. I'm guessing the SotD render so close because they don't yet have lowed LOD models to render farther out. If that is the case, they should have their glow render at a greater distance. I also think they need to pull them all away from the grid borders. Loading in on top of something that will sink you is just not good game play. Players should be able to see and react prior to aggro range.
  13. My guess is that there will not be a wipe. You could remove all current claims without a wipe. You could replace the current claim system without a wipe. You could reduce tribe/company size without a wipe. You could remove all ships and structures of people that stopped logging in without a wipe. You could make all kinds of changes without a wipe. But now that we have lost 80% of the player base, what would happen if we did a wipe and reset all of those that remain toons to zero? Well, I play a lot. I have played since the start. I have toons on NA pvp and pve. I even have one on EU. If I lost all my points, my skills, my levels, my structures, my ships, my 30 tames. I'd be pissed. I don't think I'd do the whole grind again. I'd guess many think the same way.
  14. I had this the other day as well but I had a horse and a crew doing it. This is not new. I had a crew do this maybe 8 weeks back. 1 second missing, 1 second back with no armor/saddle, 1 second normal. And you can't keep their menu open through the cycle. It will auto close.
  15. If it's your point to imply I'm a AOC voter, your out of your mind. My point is not to say all these game issue don't need to be fixed. They do need to be fixed. My point is that they can be fixed without a full server wipe that resets everyone's progress. Even if they were to wipe the servers, it does no good to do that prior to having all these things working right first. Look at Eve or Wow, 15 years and never a server wipe. And this EA reason is BS. They may be in what "they call" EA for a year. A reset would just take another chunk out of the player base. They could remove all claims or leave them as they put the new system in place and all the other thing and leave everyone's progress in place.
  16. You call people POS because they don't vote the way you think? I admit my PVP toon in on the shelf and I've been on PVE, just because I don't think the game is ready for good PVP just yet. But I don't see a wipe as the best way to deal with the issues. Many ways of fixing issues could be put in place without pissing off everyone else.
  17. I don't know if this will help you but, I play about 25% of each day or more (a lot). I never crash. I do have an upper end gaming PC. I'd be interested in knowing what % of players have repeated crashes and what their rig specs are. What video card? How much ram? Are your driver up to date? Background apps?
  18. Yes these cobra are some MF'er. But I have been seeing less of them lately. I have stood out of range and watched as one endlessly attacked an empty building of mine. I have no idea why. I could see the floating text numbers follow each strike. After about 10 minutes of watching, I killed it just to save my building. I've also watched them strike endlessly at a building with tames inside but out of its reach.
  19. So the "neutral" setting allows them to attack attackers? But not everything?
  20. Recently I have been playing with tames. I have found a few game breaking issues with them all related. I have gone harvesting on an elephant with a bear following to control snakes/crocs. Time and time again I with the elephant aggro something and the bear in turn aggros on that mob. But the bear very often cannot do anything. Because the bear runs right in to the rear end of the elephant and spends the whole fight stuck running up the elephants rear end. The bear is stuck and cannot not pass, so it cannot fight. I also find... Riding a bear with a bear following... after killing a mob, the 2 bears and the dead mob prevent the bears from moving apart. Often causing the need to dismount and walk away for the bears to follow to untangle the cluster. I also find... Two tames start to fight a mob but (sometimes) the first fights and the second cannot get past the first to help in the fight. The second in line spends the whole fight running in to the back side of the first. Just is with the harvesting elephant listed above. One thing that may help. And I don't know the term you use. Is once a mob dies it changes to a state of being able to pass through it. A second thing is maybe change tames collision box to round or to have a slight repelling effect. This may stop the tangle they get locked in. Or them to detect each other and the second responds by turning left or right to move around the first.
  21. Tame setting "Wandering" should have a home setting. As in the spot that you set the tame to wandering is it's anchor point. It wanders but only around that point. It returns to that spot every so often to feed. I have found a test pig 2000-3000 yards out. Add tame setting "defensive" so it acts passive until it has taken damage, then fights for it's life.
  22. At this point of 2 to 4 weeks from the new system, we may as was just drop this and see what they release. Then pick up the discussion once we have a look at what is put in place. They may not have said but I'm sure they know what they want/plan to do if it's only weeks away. Over all, people want land and they are leaving in part because they can't get it. I'm sure the new plan has this in mind. I'm not even going to look anymore until after the change.
  23. I know what you mean. I have a place in the tundra also. A bear it almost not worth it. But great for sap. I would not expect a filter anytime soon if ever. You need to ship it down south to a pure fiber area. You can get 100 stacks in an hour and sail back.
  24. I moved mine to a four story high building. That works good but for the falling through the floor about twice a week. I set bears on aggressive like you say but they have ended up outside somehow. I think they aggro and glitch through the walls going after the threat. Ships can be tricky too. I sometimes find them stuck half way through a deck or plank. I had one start to fly away but I was able to whistle it back to the deck. Next I was thinking of trying a big ground pin with 6 bears on aggressive. I did an aggressive test with a group of pigs outside. It was a real show. They went nonstop killing everything within a 100 yards. Until they jumped something too big and all got wiped out. I'd like to see a setting of aggressive but only to aggressive mobs. So they are not chasing birds and all.
  25. I skipped over the red heading about not being real and just start reading the notes. I thought. no kidding! These guys really went to work! Did they add devs? Wow, most of this (not all) is great news! Why were they holding back on all of this? Where are these stables, snap points, taverns... ? I'll be building or buying these today. Why is this dev swearing so much? Did this patch drop over night? Now I fear I must find and sink your ships
