  1. Only real problem I have with that, is that solo companies only get 1 claim. If companies were allowed 5 to 10 claims, plus 1 per member, it would make it a lot more palatable. Main reason being is that 1 claim is far too limiting, in terms of you either get half a beach with no resources (once you put down buildings) to make your claim reach into the water to place a shipyard. Or you have no deep water to place a shipyard, and still block half the resources on that claim when you build there.
  2. I think some of the discovery points were glitched, to where you had to be knocked unconscious at the discovery point to get the credit, as well as a couple that people said didn't count unless they sat in a chair at the discovery point.
  3. Yup, thats what I'm using now. The problem with them is the chance of getting them perfectly aligned and parallel to the shipyard. If you want a dock that runs the length of the shipyard, its about 30 ceilings long, so if your angle of alignment is anything less than perfect, by the time you get to the end, it either has a gap, or is running into the shipyard. Unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean by using pillars?
  4. Yup, something a few of us have been asking for, for a good while now.
  5. It might be something they're considering, according to the last captain's log. At that point, they'll have to get rid off/change up the leaderboards, else all the top companies will just be a tie between everyone. A system where you can own as much land as you want, but have to allow building on claims over X amount (with added renter protections) would allow the take over the map leaderboard to continue, as well as provide tax income for people.
  6. Is there any way that we could get snap points for ceilings on the outsides of shipyards? Maybe one along the top edge, and one at the next seam down from the top/even with the platform at the middle of the stairs to make it easier to integrate them into dock designs. As is, all you can do is try and hope that it is straight enough that your docks will line up close enough.
  7. Sea claims should only be placeable if its touching a land claim you own.
  8. Those are quick server setting adjustments. They already switched lawless to have foundations block spawns once, but had to switch it back because the amount of building on them made them barren wastelands.
  9. Really dont think theres one specific reason people left. Just based on the goodby posts so many felt the need to do, land claim was a big part, people being griefed until that was patched was another, people in PVP tired of being offlined was another, glitches and bugs was another, boredom/lack of content was another, and i'm sure there were 1 or two that mentioned cheaters. People with different playstyles want different things. I know a good half dozen that are just in maintainence mode, waiting for some more content and bug fixes. They have land, but other company members log in to reset for them, and are just waiting to see if its worth coming back anytime soon for them. The recent wipe rumors, whether true are not, are going to have an effect on how much people are playing, too. I've already had a couple people tell me that they wouldn't be around too much until they knew for sure, because they didn't want to waste time if there was going to be a wipe, but would be back after.
  10. Yeah, picking some of the most popular and longest running games (except for Kholat, which just got chinese localization) was kinda cherrypicking a bit.
  11. They need to increase the range on swivel guns so we can start a flying tame skeet shooting league.
  12. Tried, and no dice on that either. I think its due to the PVE protection where something targeting you cant damage other players stuff. Went around, fought a bunch of crocs, and made sure the cart was between the bear and croc. Cannon is still at the same health after a dozen+ crocs.
  13. This is one of the reasons that they need to let us put the playershop NPCs on our claims. Things like this should be what a good portion of the PVE side is all about.
  14. If a wipe happens, it happens. But, for the love of all that is fuzzy and nippled, put claim grids in if it does.,,,and take that time to tweak the grade of the ocean floor around shorelines a little bit. Entirely too much coastline goes from knee deep to the marianas trench at a 85 degree angle. Also, just a wipe of claims and structures, that doesn't wipe the players levels/companies/etc wouldn't be quite as devastating on the playerbase, imo.
  15. But, how do we know you're not dead. A dead person would be trying to entice everyone to die and join his side. We're on to you.
  16. No to the first part. yes to the second. Anyone should be able to get on a tame and ride. What the tree should do is offer bonuses and incentives to those who take it. Reduced stamina drain, better healing, better harvesting, etc. You don't need to take shipbuilding or captaineering to use the ship, tames should be the same.
  17. We usually have x2 running Saturday, Sunday, and normally at least half of mondays. There is literally no time you can pick up a map that's not going to have at least a few hours of x2 to do it. If you get the map at noon on monday, as soon as the reset hits, you have until Saturday noon to get it. Thats not even counting the times they let the x2 run until Monday night, or the times they start it Friday afternoon/evening. I hate doing maps - they bore me stupid(er), but complaining that they're too short of life, when A: They always overlap with x2, and B: They're stupid common to find, isn't the problem with them.
  18. In my opinion, taxation should be just set to a flat 10-15%, BUT, it shouldn't come out of the treasure map/harvest/whatever. Instead, it would just generate that resource for the landowner. You harvested 1000 wood on someone elses land, you get 1000 wood, they get 150 in the bank. You dig up a treasure worth 2000 gold, you get 2000 gold, they get 300 gold in their bank. It would address a medium-sized point of contention with most people, still give the landowners their cut for the use/temporary loss of their resources, and not make the other people lose anything.
  19. I've tried the same thing, but, the problem is nobody wants to rent the claim, even for a trial period. They're all worried that whoever they get the land from is going to wait til they build everything, and then change build permissions and screw them over. - that's one of the reasons that the plan included the non-kicked for anything other than inactivity. Yeah, you take the chance of some douchewaffle moving in next door, but thats why you would be able to select the claims that were buildable - to allow some breathing room between you and them. I look at it as closer to Ark's open building plan, but with the benefits of land ownership and being able to dictate where on your land they settle. As far as just giving the claim away, my problem is that if you do that, and they stop playing and someone else gets it, and lets it lie fallow, now you're right back to square 1 as far as land usage. At least tenant inactivity would revert it back to the landowner in the scenario I put forth, as well as the tenant becoming the actual landowner, if the owner loses the land due to inactivity. GS is going to have to force something, because as willing as some people are to give up land, the majority of the people aren't. Either forcing allowing renters with protections for them, or, the most likely scenario, forcing upkeep and claims limitations...which, with the attitude and capabilities of the megas, is just going to end up with them owning ever more of the land, either through themselves, or through a surrogate offshoot company.
  20. Smack the lighthouse with a paintbrush and the dye you want in your inventory. I forget which area is the light, just play around changing each of them. Best to do it at night so you can see it easily.
  21. Once again, because I'm too lazy to retype it. I'm confused. Whats the point of posts like these? I'm sure the devs know the numbers - and have committed to fixing things. Will it happen? Gotta wait and see. I'm sure the people playing on those servers see the numbers on the servers that they play on. I'm sure the people still enjoying what they're doing in the game are still playing, bugs and all, but realize its EA and are willing to see where it goes. I'm sure there's a good portion of people who are in maintainence mode, log in to reset their claims/lawless timers and bounce, but are willing to maintain that, to see where it goes. I'm sure there's a significant portion of people who just left completely, and don't even bother checking the forums. I'm just confused why a few people insist on doomsaying constantly, on every post. Are you expecting the people who are still having fun to suddenly say "Oh, shit, the towel/phoenix/realist is right. This game sucks, I'm leaving!"? Are you expecting the devs to suddenly say "Wow, I had no clue what our player numbers are. president mozambique, shut down everything! Thanks for telling us, Mr Towel/Phoenix/Realist" Are you expecting the people who quit to sit there, quietly chuckling and stroking their goatees, to suddenly say "I'm glad I still read the boards for this game I dont care about any more. Thanks for letting me know that less people are playing, Senor Towel/Phoenix/Realist, heres a Starbucks gift card and some internet points for your crack investigative reporting"
  22. Seriously? This is what we're reduced to bitching about? How dare you try to fix some other huge issues that are killing the playerbase. I want my different armor and crab! ...and complaining about the version number? Really? That's...special. I seem to recall it happening around the V16-V17 patch too, even though that one released on time, and was never delayed, just a version number change.
  23. Well, technically since the claim timers are screwed up right now, and no one can place a flag for 21 days since your last login, regardless of your flag count...and you'd have to log in more often than that to keep them fed which would reset the timer...and that your crew is claimable after 8 days of you not logging in...
  24. Aye, no matter what you do, it will always be finite land. Hell, if you limit people to 1 claim per company, you can theoretically still fill up the whole server, given sufficient time and playerbase. What my idea would do would almost double (more than double, if you count freeing up lawless to be claimable once people had more land) the available space for people. If you figure a company has 100 claims, and they have to allow building on 40 of them - that could be 20 companies out of lawless...if they only have 50 claims and they have to allow building on 20 of them, that could be another 10 companies with a quasi-permanant home. When you start looking at the big companies, that would have to allow building on 600-750 of their 1000 claims, thats a good chunk of people who can move out of lawless. Then, you open up lawless as claimable land, and that provides people with another couple thousand claimable spots. I'm guessing that that breakdown is alot closer to what GS's original thought process was with opening up claims to be buildable. They just underestimated the greed and 'To hell with everyone, I got mine' thought process of a large portion of their playerbase. If all of that was used, then the servers wouldn't be handling the population needed to fill all of them, and there would be enough people for GS to open another server cluster.
