  1. Well they could limit stuff by type. Limit Structure pieces to X amount. Cannons/Swivels/Balista to X amount. Based on the type of ship like they do for the sails already. Obviously the weight of the stuff is also a limiting factor in place already since eventually you will sink your ship. Also hoping at some point they will allow our ships to keep leveling up. We can reach a high level but our ships stop at 41. It doesn't take very long to get a ship to 41 hunting down SOTD. Assuming this is again a performance thing. But surely you guys can figure out a way to make the game run AND give us more when it comes to ships. This game can use a lot of work in the optimizations department when it comes to performance, that much is clear although they have made some noticeable improvements there is still a LOT of ground to cover people with top end systems don't get much more performance than people with a mid level computer. Also people with bad lag cause everyone on the server to lag, surely there is a way to just make the laggy player lag without affecting everyone else on the server.
  2. Non Alpha lions bleed attack chews up HP VERY fast. So even if they fought back that doesn't surprise me with an Alpha. Tames also attack considerably slower than you can while on the back of a tame. The fact they pull you off so easily is a bit annoying, you don't even have a chance to try and stop it. I have only lost one tame via having it on passive while we were taming a lion I left it just around the corner for a few minutes and for whatever reason I didn't hear it dying to a cobra making its grunting noise even though I could hear the Elephants thumping just past where it was just fine, I even double checked before I left I left it there. By the time my brother saw it and shot at the cobra it died like a split second before the cobra died. Plus the server we are on has damage splats turned off to avoid abusing it in PVP to see players locations. Sorry to hear about your bears, sucks losing good tames to stuff like that.
  3. I have had this bug before too although it's been quite a while. Sometimes I was able to craft stuff by opening the smithy then starting the craft on the left side for my inventory. The above also works usually dying resolved it too.
  4. Optimizations. The fact is they don't even have this optimized for a single card. SLI/Crossfire support is not insanely common on most games as it is.
  5. I actually do browse down sometimes but there is a LOT of pages. There are a lot of repeated ideas on bug reports and suggestions. The Tags are player made which is good but it doesn't list tags other people made or generalized tags. The voting thing is cool but I agree it leaves super popular or sometimes old stuff at the top or ideas that aren't being constantly looked at. I have seen some great ideas in there and tried posting some ideas but haven't had much replies probably due to the fact everyone just seems to use the general forums to try and accomplish the same goal. I honestly thing bugs should be directly reported for the most part via the bug tracker instead of a forum anyways and they can have some automation the back end to group up similar reports and make getting through all the reports a lot quicker and streamlined. Also keeps people from being able to see what bugs exist and exploiting them.
  6. Starting guide could probably be expanded on to actually what you need to set sail before you leave. I mean minimally a bed to spawn on but even then a little gear for wherever you land at isn't bad. I don't even know what it's like to start at this point in the game. Probably not terrible from a population standpoint but unclaimed land is a whole different thing. They really need to double or triple the landmass in the game. There would still be so much ocean to explore....
  7. Yes normally they backup fine with S. I was just trying to state I also have been having issues periodically lately with it on my brig also. Couldn't tell you what I do to fix it since I almost always turn the ship around instead to resolve the issue when stuck. I don't park in a shipyard so turning is always an option for me even in the harbor I am based at.
  8. I didn't say it was your dock? Did you read what I even wrote? I said if you --- CAN'T BACK IT UP ---- Maybe ----DESTROY DOCK--- And then ---TURN THE SHIP--- Did it sink in that time? There I kept it short I don't want you to hurt your brain having to read all those words. God I probably already typed too much again.
  9. Yea shoot them is honestly the answer. Takes 20-30 Large cballs per ship, 4 large cannons on the stern and you can take them down in a few salvos. on my hauler/sotd brig I carry a few hundred large shots and just go to town on them. Have to repair occasionally if I take a few hits whilst pulling aggro but it's not bad. They are so slow you have to drop your ship to 50% speed usually to maintain them in shooting range whilst maintaining distance for their shots to splash in the water. This method works for 1-30. Can pickup some really good ship/cannon schematics off this as well as a tiny bit of gold and crew and occasionally a tiny bit of ammo for the ammunition box. Also a great way to get high level crew. You can also do medium cannons, they allow easier aiming but I feel the large are more efficient both in weight and materials, downside is you have to line up the ship to shoot so placing them so the shots hit the same spot is a bit or trial and error but it sounds lovely when they all go off at the same time and hit the same general spot you are aiming.
  10. I have had issues with my brig not reversing periodically lately, couldn't tell you exactly what causes it. Usually when the front of the bow is near shallow water, not even too shallow to maneuver. I have luckily unstuck it every time usually by slowly turning the behemoth so you might have to break the dock if that's an option. Although even in the dock I park mine at there are times it DOES reverse fine and times it doesn't even in the same general area. So I honestly can say it's a bit confusing. I have just really started getting in the habit of sailing in turning sideways as close to where I want to anchor and then reversing in. Also have run into some sandbars that didn't seem shallow enough to stop me but alas they did, even almost lost it at one point when some planks started breaking, was luckily in a spot I could anchor it even though I was off the coast a good bit and able to replace panels and repair it and yet again slowly turn it out and sail it out. My ship is probably a cat at heart because it's used up at least a few lives already.
  11. Grown turnips are better than wild. easily like 5% per. I agree the feeding even from the stomach is hit and miss. We had had tames that hit us 2-3 times and tames that hit us every time we walked up there. The key IMO is to have multiple people stocked, armored, with bolas who know what to do and lots of communication. If someone dies then the next guy takes over while the other guy is getting back and rinse repeat. If the tame goes well, then great. But if it goes badly at least you have a action plan and don't wind up losing tons of bonus wild levels to being stubborn and doing it alone.
  12. Ah I knew that having them opened slowed you down but didn't realize it had to do with weight just assumed it was related to the ship's max speed dropping. Silly when you consider some of the huge things people build above deck into, in front of and behind the sails and they take no penalty to any ship stats.
  13. Yea I noticed this in polar regions the fog is insanely bright. On the other side of the token at night with the fog I can't see more than just off my bow. It's like flying IFR in a plane have to trust the old map and watch my dot moving across it and be ready at any moment when the glow of a ghost ship appears dead ahead of me. Definitely adds some challenge to sailing. I rarely touch the gamma settings though I have my monitors calibrated and I hate having to over expose to make it bright. They really should just resolve the lightning and make it decent across the board. Although from a new moon with thick fog/clouds it's pretty spot on for how dark it would actually be without lights.
  14. I read this patch as... 33% to spawn cyclones during each storm as like constantly. Not the Entire storm.. guess I have been lucky on the few I have sailed in tonight. I was expecting to always get a few cyclones in a storm just not 10 around my boat constantly respawning in front of me.
  15. I agree the gunport thing doesn't really make sense.. why would it weigh less, it's still a full weight cannon... please do explain. The other updates are good. I actually sailed through an entire storm this evening and saw NO CYCLONES I was amazed... is this real?
  16. I am honestly hoping they surprise us with some bonus content to, maybe that is too hopeful? I believe for the time being though. It's not April yet.
  17. I don't have issues with cannons on the upper deck this was normal. Having multiple layers of cannons is a bit unrealistic. Cannons should have some forced space around them for what would be a loading crew and the recoil which the guns lack in this which would actually dramatically slow the rate of fire if you had to load the cannon and then heave it back out before firing again. At the moment you can pretty much stick them right against each other, they are forced to be spread out in the mid decks due to the snap points. I don't know that the upper decks need snap points. Could give each ship a cannon limit like the sails. Would need to be reasonable though I don't have issues with a schooner or brig dumping all their weight into cannons and ammo if that is their intent. I just think it shouldn't be possible to have tons of cannons on the port, starboard, aft, or bow only.
  18. I am one of the 20k. I will probably slow down and stop playing for periods of time and come back when I have the urge to play or see some big content updates. I don't think this is a bad thing at all. The launch went kind of poorly and it took them a big (and still are some bit issues to address) but I wouldn't be too worried about the game being dead forever. If you are really that worried about it why don't you go buy thousands of copies and start handing them out to people or start a big social media campaign and get on the national news to get people back into the game. Posting here on the forums sure isn't going to bring droves of new players in.
  19. I can agree the feeding window on tames is a bit screwy since a few patches ago. Part of this was stopping taming through walls so taming pens can cause issues when the tame falls in a bad way to feed them. I also have not been able to feed from above the head with any regularity feeding between the legs while looking at the head seems to the the only method... Even then I sneak up and have the sneak bonuses and get hit quite often by them doing the struggle attack. I have found if I sit just outside where I see the timer I can pop in feed back out and get most of the feedings in... although sometimes i get hit over and over. I would definitely bring a friend or two and have a bed near to get back quick (and wear good armor). As to the rock thing for rhinos... I don't see the issue they are meant to gather rock from stone and have been that way forever. They do give metal off metal nodes but you seem to get more from picks with the 2x bonus weekends. Elephants are great for wood and even weight in general, bears are great for fiber and certain kinds of sugars as well as for carrying weight and killing alphas, the all around utility tame, if you tame anything get a bear. Not any great tames for thatch but I just drag a bear and bring a few picks and a couple piles of food and can get 20k+ in 30 minutes easily using the bear to carry all the weight. Parrots give a nice fortitude buff, monkeys give a nice healing buff (useful to have on your shoulder when taming), ostriches and horses are good for recon on new islands but not great for anything although horse weight is alright. Pigs are pretty meh. Bulls I hear can give ok thatch if you have the right kind of foilage which gives thatch/wood using a sickle or bear but still better off with a pick. Cows for milk chickens for eggs. Oh and rabbits are fun to tame and throw on someone boat to overload their crew capacity... Nothing like a boatload of bunnies to bring a ship down.
  20. This was a while back now... I have since moved to unofficial as of last week on a decent sized server which is expanding with even more grids soon as well as the kraken grid. Has a permanent 4x gathering (the current 2x weekend rate) 3x XP and Gold, 5x Tame (although doesn't really need it taming is pretty fast. Slightly slower aging and vitamin decay (which is actually annoying on vitamins sometimes as you will overfill vitamins and still be hungry. Not every island is named just a few per grid which give a heap of discovery each, has all 8 power stone islands, there is about 2-3 x as many islands per grid which makes finding land and also resource types are more plentiful per grid. So I am finally exploring these things of having fully manned ships and being able to afford it without farming maps for hours on end. Still is PvP too but without the offline raiding. It's been quite enjoyable.
  21. Since their recent nerfs to alphas I have had no problems with Alphas anymore. Cobras were one of the worst and I chew through them really fast on bear with no problems keeping the tame alive. Spawn rates being reduced was slightly noticeable but I still find plenty every day.
  22. I had a feeling it was sarcasm, but nothing in his post hinted he was actually being sarcastic. You know like *sarcasm* since typed words lack inflection.
  23. Before I read this I wasn't thinking tames but now that I am reading it's for tames I agree it should stack in the trough for sure. And honestly stacking in the inventory isn't a big deal either, 100, bump weight to 10 weight or 500 and bump weight to 50. I don't have issues keeping cooked meat or salted meat for my consumption.
  24. Just keep making noise about breeding. I am sure it will eventually be addressed. As for the moment knowing it's broken I would move on past breeding for the time being and enjoy the other aspects of the game. If you are bored then move on but keep coming back and making noise about it so in the long term it will be resolved. I gave up on taming after the first few attempts when I realized quickly how broke the temperature was. Also kept losing them to patches and the follow up patch spam on the weekends when it's the only time I would even have to attempt it. I finally realized I will just have to wait. Hopefully it won't take days either and they fix the crazy temperature extremes in every area that occur daily.
  25. I laughed really hard I wasn't sure if he was trying to be sarcastic and point out how few people were on the server or was being serious. Get 60 people on it, let me know if the ping and smoothness remains. Then put 150 and tell me again. I am betting it has more to due with the people... but it's hard to compare without comparing a server a few versions ago vs now with identical everything side by side. I am sure there is some optimization going on but I doubt your low ping has to entirely do to just optimizations and is more likely due to the load.
