  1. What I don't understand is how they can add this and not do a wipe. Basically all the current large tribes that have giant bases made of stone now have a huge advantage over everyone else. I'm in one of these top 10 tribes atm and I still think if you are going make a change this radical it needs to be followed through with a full server wipe or at least a structure wipe because otherwise its highly unfair to players.
  2. Well in that case play PVE. Its the mode without any PVP which is what you want right?
  3. I would support regular wipes once a month as a gameplay improvement.
  4. No hook to keep people interested? What a load of exaggerated nonsense. How about for one the never ending mission of conquest. Raiding companies bases and conquering their lands. As soon as you knock one down another one shows up. The lust for blood and conquest is certainly what keeps me playing games like Atlas and ARK. I am sure many others feel likewise.
  5. I was ruffling through my pockets today trying to find a spare sympathy card but all I could find was a handful of slightly worn racism cards and 3 pink gender cards. Sorry I must have left my last sympathy card at my local human rights office when I purchased the others, hopefully they have some more in stock.
  6. Agreed this kind of silly stuff doesn't belong in a pirate game. Gliders are bad enough are very OP in their current state and now they want to bring in more stuff that doesn't fit. Terrible design decisions on the part of the devs.
  7. ARK was a great concept and a good game for the first year and a bit but then the devs basically let things get out of control with regards to mega tribes, breeding and flyers. It stripped the game of its fun in PVP when you had tribes with sometimes hundreds of players in them allied with other large tribes with hundreds of players in them dominating servers. There was no competition anymore on Official servers. The same is true for flyers, they narrowed down the game play into an air supremacy game with the occasional need for some land combat. I petitioned the ARK devs for over 2 years to put a hard cap on tribe numbers and also limit alliances. For whatever reason they chose to willfully ignore many of their players and act as if there was no problem at all. Finally in mid 2018 they actually listened and well Small Tribe Servers actually become overnight the most popular mode by far in ARK and has remained so ever since. While the devs finally improved the game by adding those Small Tribe Servers they then shot themselves in the foot by adding that terrible DLC called Extinction. I don't understand how their balance and testing department could conclude that a flying monster with 500,000 health, 9000 carry weight and one that could bite through the highest tier - TEK with ease was perfectly balanced and fit for release, yet somehow they thought it was. End result has been that raiding is now a much dumbed down boring experience that just involves brute force. Sadly it seems many of these ARK experts have ported their skillz over to Atlas and gifted us with such delights as the wonderful FOY idea, fire arrows, 4 hour claiming times, rocket gliders, alpha creatures and tornado volleys...
  8. I'm sure the idea looked great on the whiteboard. A 'unique' and 'original' feature for our exciting new game that everyone will grow to love and enjoy. It's a shame reality says otherwise.

Ok so you have 40,000 players of which the vast majority of them are now 90+ in age who all need to do this fountain of youth quest and yet we have one damn server that holds a mere 150 players to cater for this demand........ Who the fk came up with this crappy idea. It might sound grand on paper but its a real flop in reality. Scrap it already. Or at least move this crap to PVE, its not a PVP mechanic that belongs on PVP servers.
  11. Definitely. The cannons would be defined by caliber and barrel length which would decide the distance they can shoot and the damage they can do. Ie 10pdr, 20pdr, 32 pdr, 40pdr, 50pdr so on.
  12. I am wondering would anyone be interested in making a Napoleonic mod for Atlas? By this I mean a mod that is set around say 1750-1815. It would have vastly more ship options 1st rates, 2nd rates, 3rd rates ship of the lines as well as ships with a very specific purpose such as bomb ketches and fire ships. In general it would be somewhat more realistic then the combat offered currently in Atlas but would not be a realism mod as such. Instead it would a PVP focused mod that expands and deepens the gameplay giving more variety and choice and allowing for more strategies. It would be less about survival and more about warfare, battles and technology.
  13. It sounds like your a PVP player and therefore likely somewhat good at multiplayer games. Why on earth would you want to drop down a grade and play in a 2nd rate division that only contains 50% of the total package the game offers? I guess its the old case of do you want to play in a competition where only the best, the most skilled get medals or one wherever everyone gets the participation medal even if they ran an hour behind the winner? I know which one I'd prefer, but then again merit based rewards these days are kind of frowned upon, its all about being seen to be inclusive.
  14. From reading you post it is absolutely clear you have no idea what this game is about. You seem to think that there is no point to PVP apart from hurting someones feelings. This game is a very strategic game and will become even more so as the game develops. The end goal of the game is for your company to be dominant over the rest. That is the goal everyone aims for or at least tries to. In order to achieve this dominance your company has to be powerful and in order to be powerful you need players and resources. By engaging in PVP against other companies and winning you weaken them and at the same time strengthen you own position both in resources and prestige. To give you an example our company recently engaged in a war to subjugate a nearby map tile. The tile had several islands with good resources that we wanted but some of these islands were currently occupied by various companies who didn't want to voluntarily give up their claims. This group which had been several independent companies banded together as one to fight us. For 5 days we bombard their island. Around the clock 24/7 we had a steady stream for 30-40 players constantly attacking them wearing them down. We sunk every ship they had and took fort after fort. Gradually bit by bit individual elements in their company gave up the fight and by the 5th day they were down from around 30 players to just 6 holed up in their last fortress. After an intense mortar and cannon barrage which heavily damaged their last fort this final element surrendered. Follow this surrender we them made them an offer they couldn't refuse. They could continue to play on the island, provided they joined our alliance as a Beta tribe and agree that we would manage their foreign relations. They agreed and ever since they have been happy tax payers of our empire. As you can see from the situation the end result was a win for both companies through PVP. They got to live on thee island again under our generous protection.

  16. Stone walls are very cheap and very durable in this game compared to ARK.
  17. No that is not how it works. Why spend an hours doing treasure maps when I can just take all your gold you are transporting in 5 minutes. It's a pirate game, go out there and murder and plunder.
  18. No its proper PVP. Even more so then attacking a base when no one is home. In this case at least its player vs player. The very definition.
  19. I can vouch for this. Large companies are actually quite disorganized. Often its a case of many individuals under one roof rather then a united effort. This leads to people doing their own thing, wasting tribe resources on making pretty non function 'PVE' ships among other silly things. It is quite an effort to co-ordinate all the lemmings to work together during these attacks.
  20. No its still PVP. They might have treasure maps or blueprints on them, or resources. It's always worth a shot if you have the upper hand. A lot of small boats like sloops are used for quick transporting of valuable goods. I certainly won't hesitate to open fire if I'm in range.
  21. Some good suggestions but the key issue atm is the lack of gravity. The glider has tiny wings which in reality wouldn't get you very far. Even more ridiculous though is you can stand on flat land, jump 50cm in the air and suddenly you can glide for over a hundred meters. It's beyond stupid.
  22. We will just sink the ship with cannons, fire arrows or explosive barrels? It makes little difference. And also stop calling PVPers "griefers", you were outplayed accept it.
  23. It's clear PVP just isn't for you. Try the alternative PVE mode it has all the protections you seek. Its a PVP game with a Pirate theme. There are so many of these quasi PVE types masquerading as PVPers on here lately. If you want silly rules play PVE. PVPers like to roam and murder and plunder without limits or lawyers.
  24. No that is just your interpretation. Sinking a Galleon by using sabotage is very much a strategic move. It weakens the enemy, has little risk to the attackers if it fails and costs the enemy dearly if it works. There are more ways to play this game then battleship vs battleship in the open sea, especially if you are in a smaller company. Also you are forgetting that this is an open world PVP game, anyone can wipe anyone they don't need permission nor a reason. A lot of players that come from other games or PVE mode seem to whinge in global about "why did you sink my ship I didn't do anything". It takes some adjusting which comes with time but you have get used to the concept that at any moment someone could attack and kill you. Always be on the alert, trust no one not even allies.
