  1. How about a compromise. Cannon carts have to stop to fire. Swivel carts can fire on the move, but mobility is slowed. Leave the percentage up to you guys. I think its a fun meta and I enjoy the challenge of sniping the drivers. You can also use your pets to pin these tames in and kill the driver. My company has gone up against larger odds when attacking bases and we have had the numbers in our favor. If you are not careful they will get killed currently so I'd rather not see them nerfed so much that nobody even bothers with them.
  2. Considering they are a small 6 man company they have not tried all the options. They tried shoehorning their preferred play style in and it backfired so they are asking for the game to be changed so they can play that way.
  3. This typically comes from people in small companies who are all in or around the same time zones. I don't have an easy answer for this from the rule set perspective. Any restrictions you put in place can hamstring the game play to protect these smaller companies. Smaller companies have options for survival. 1. Merge with companies that have different times of availability to cover their assets. 2. Merge with larger companies who already have this or are looking for coverage in that timezone. 3. Build multi-layer defenses that can be very costly to break into and take more time then some are willing to spend. Most difficult option, but has been done to stop smaller groups of offline raiders. 4. Find a company or alliance with claimable land that allows for better coverage. Cornerstone to any good alliance are the members looking out for each other especially when they are offline. Mutual defense pacts can be very beneficial. Someone hits one of our smaller alliance members we return the favor 10 fold. Sends a strong message. This game is wide wide open. Its up to the players to find ways to make it work. Its part of the game play and one aspect I love about this game.
  4. Wish they would do it like Shadowbane. Hover mouse over it and a popup window shows pertinent info like debuff percentage and what it affects.
  5. I remember reading a thread like this in the Eve forums over a decade ago. The beauty of these games is WE ARE THE CONTENT. We are the story. Its a open world sandbox MMO. We do what we want when we want. Some people/companies run on emotional response. Some are calmer and more calculating. Some are just plain sissies. I hate MMO games with limitations. I hate games with rules. This is the first game in a decade plus I am really really drawn too. Last MMO's I loved were Shadowbane and Eve. Both games have these elements. Insiding. Theft. Espionage. Doublecrosses. Hoodwinks. Subterfuge and to top it all off.....just plain old ass kicking.
  6. So last night I was working logistics for a raid my company was involved in. I brought ammunition and a hauler bear to get it on land to our troops. While waiting for the Bear to return my dog walked up to me at the desk, sat down and started wagging her tail furiously and whimpering a bit. Right then and there I knew she had to go outside. I survey the scene and thought I was good for a couple minutes. Within 100 yards we had 2 brigs and 3 schooners with active captains and crew. I take her outside and she surveys the yard taking her time to find a spot to go. Then she tries a new spot. Then another one. Oh crap, she has constipation. I start wondering if should go back in and check on my boat. Naw I am good we have ships there. Little did I know that the call was made to start pulling out as the base was broken into, mats popcorned and message sent. After almost 10 minutes she finally goes to the bathroom and we go back in the house. I sit back down to find a schooner about 500 yards out heading directly at me at full speed. I look around and realize my escort was gone. WTF. I drop my sails and turn slightly to avoid ramming the incoming aggressor. Several times I try opening my gun ports, but they do not respond. Again WTF? The enemy schooner flies passed me and hits me with a nice firey shower from a swivel gun. I start taking damage. While this is happening I am trying to ask for help, figure out why my gun ports are not opening so I can defend myself and I am still taking damage after the flames have stopped. This is when I realize that someone has boarded my ship and is hitting me. I disengage from the steering wheel to turn and put a bullet in his dome when I fall to the ground unconscious. He takes my gear, breaks my bed and the enemy schooner sinks my ship shortly after that. I sat there thinking that this situation could not have been more perfect to screw me over. I love my dog, but damn girl you sunk my ship!
  7. Every one? In my experience that is not the case. We wiped a few alliances in the area and convinced our biggest griefers to join us. It helps they are cool people and damn good at PVP. No we rarely get griefed. We started again and we are already taking care of that situation. There is always an option and simply killing them isn't always it. Politics. Breaking up alliances. Turning people on one another or just grief them back 10x worse then they do you and they'll beg for mercy. Our biggest downtime raiders are CTSG now. The time zone difference is the biggest barrier here. They hit us when we are offline and we do the same to them. We have minimal overlap in player bases so most of the ships we lose to them is when we only have a couple people online and they are usually not where we are getting hit. I did however have a flux capacitor moment last night while on the toilet. What if ships could re-enter the dry docks? Pull in, anchor and then hit a button and boat is lifted. Boat is still vulnerable to damage. It can be broken into, but it cannot be sunk and to damage every single panel and tile on a boat would be quite costly compared to the mats for the boat. I think logging in and seeing a boat missing some panels in the dockyard is much more palatable then seeing a wreckage. I am happy with it as is.....but thought that could be a good compromise if the devs were seriously looking at it.
  8. Hey guys lets get a thread going where all companies list their active hours so we do not offline raid people. I'll start. My company is active between 7-8pm CST. We only play 1 hour per day. If you attack outside that you are offlining us.
  9. I didn't even realize the patch was that large at first. My 500mbps connection downloaded the patch in under 5 minutes.
  10. This is what I am enjoying about this game of late. Early on it was a bunch of nobodies attacking nobodies. Alliances were few and far between, companies did not know or trust one another. As time goes on these things sort themselves out by the players and lands becomes more secure. Locally we are working with or adsorbing many smaller companies we find common ground with on securing our tiles against outside aggressors who take advantage of the time zone differences. Its tough, but we are holding them back.
  11. Looks like it was bugged. 2 nights ago we had a ship firing 2-3 harpoons at a whale and they took it down in less then 5 minutes.
  12. Someone post all the patch notes showing all the things they fixed. I think that list is much longer.
  13. Ah ok I can see that. Gaming at a slower pace and looking to improve on your processes and tactics. Not my thing personally. I love knowing that at any second a bullet could pierce my dome and I can do the same to anyone else. Gets the blood pumping.
  14. Games spend years in alpha. They tossed together a basic framework and released it as EA. I am flabbergasted by the amount of people who do not know how this works. Also another thing to consider. This is a MMO. A very large open world where small changes can have huge effects downstream. Its going to take a lot of time to iron all these things out and if they try fixing it all early on then new feature adds down the road will break them again causing them to double up on work. They need to walk that line to keep people around for testing and better reviews without wasting a shitload of time on fixing things that will be broke 2 months from now due to new feature adds. I think GS would do themselves a favor by being more transparent on what they do, how they do it and why. People toss out hundreds of issues and quit the game because its not fixed after a month or two. Maybe all the coders I know are horrible and don't deserve their 6 figure salaries, but these issues take time to resolve.
  15. I guess that is why I will never understand PvE. After a year or two are you relegated to moving the furniture around your base for entertainment?
  16. Hey guys what time are you online tomorrow? I want to raid you so let me know what a good time is.
  17. That's weird. Every person I know that has had that issue fixed it killing themselves. Might be more than one trigger for this bug.
  18. We should be able to shoot them in the eye and then they randomly attack everything around them including other cyclops. More of a joke, but would be fun to see.
  19. I don't think this thread should fall off the first page so soon. The increased costs really suck. The nerf that stone took was just...…...horrid.
  20. He said that before the patch nerfed stone walls.
  21. I've never seen a ship with two cannons per gun port. Do you have screenshots or video of this? You can fit cannons on the upper deck on the sides and both fore and aft. I've seen ships lined with them. They can dish out tons of damage, but also can be slower and its very gratifying sinking one.
