  1. it was probably a dingy, were there sails or were they paddling?
  2. as long as you are sleeping under your flag it can never be taken.
  3. Bigger fish to fry right now like claim flags, once they have more of that stuff settled people will jump on the little stuff. At the moment the skill tree is working even if it is wasteful and honestly with the +50 levels coming people wont know where to put their points in the end.
  4. Thats not their end game plan though. You have to remember that GS wants it to be a "Governor" who oversees an island and rents land to smaller companies who abide by the laws that they set out. This was how it was described at the release. If you are patient and wait till Wednesday (I think, maybe) you will be able to build on land that the main company on the island has. They will even defend if against invaders for you, because if they don't they will lose that territory and the tax that goes with it. If it is a one man tribe then WTF are you doing not just taking it from him? Have one guy stand on one side of the island and drop a claim flag, have someone else on the other side drop a claim flag, he can only hold one flag at a time.
  5. With the trade ships cruising around the ocean, it should be possible to create a "beacon" to create a trade port for the ships to come to so if any of them enter the territory they will sail towards it and anchor for ~30 minutes. Make them crazy expensive, one per island, and make them have like a 12 hour cool-down after a trade ship docks at them to stop people from monopolising the trade ships.
  6. These have been in since day one. There are lanterns that you can hang on the wall.
  7. walls don't stop anything when people have gliders and climbing picks. you can contest a flag at a reasonable distance as well meaning every box would have to be huge.
  8. You would have to be crazy to buy land that could then be taken away from you in 45 minutes after you log out. Till the claiming system is fixed the best you can to is keep trying to steal it. there are so many different yet interconnected issues to deal with before the land and tax system will run well.
  9. One, the system is glitchy and we have had flags capped while actually standing under them, we think because they were dropped by another member of the company. two is most people have more than one flag and you can't sleep under two of them meaning that while you sleep someone can steal all your stuff. The very thing that drove most people to pve in the first place.
  10. Pin lock all exposed boxes and don't put a smithy above deck and they can't sink your ship. We make sure that access to all accessible inventories is behind doors. It will save a lot of hassle.
  11. fire arrows still make a mess of alphas, carry about 5 and it will kill anything. we have no trouble with alphas really.
  12. This is griefing 100% yes but thy do also need to deal with the litter of rafts on coastlines being abandoned, its been weeks now and some are still there from the first few days.
  13. But you still can't build on ally land, this is the problem with the system currently, there needs to be a per flag option to allow building by allys.
  14. we have been talking about this since the game started and ut is all part if the problems with the claiming system. we would love to allow people to build and live on claimed land and farm stuff for our bank but the system doesn't allow it yet. we would like to see the ability to have npc living and working in stalls/shops that you build for them as well. It would be nice to see the currency being used for things. Other than top hats to get more currency, and a way to earn currency as a trader.
  15. love your "statistics" there but we had two yesterday inside our large dry dock. Both of these we destroyed after the 1 hour limit. we had three others park in our harbour blocking traffic, two left after gathering resources one didn't. companies aren't the victims, but neither are the raft owners. Don't bitch that your car got towed because you parked in front of a fire hydrant. we have several rafts to the left and right of out harbour that we do nothing about because they are not in the way, they are parked properly and nobody cares about them. I suspect most companies just have less of a breaking point than we do and say they will sink everything because they are sick of clearing their harbours. If they made the damage decay period faster on boats in claimed land i suspect the problem would take care of itself.
  16. there are miles of beaches that we do nothing about. Parking your raft in someone's dry dock to stop them building is the griefing not destroying that raft that's doing it. in the areas that we do not clean there are currently about 11 abandoned rafts that are blocking people from putting down dry docks, reinforcing territory and a bunch of other shit. It is a plague, they are not a threat they are litter on the beaches and that is why most people clean them up. People are warned, you have 1 hour to move your raft or we will destroy it. If they leave it in our dry dock after that we sink it. We have boats to make and if people actually ask we do give them a patch of land to build on, or invite them into the company, but most don't ask they just contest territory and we prevent it. look at it this way, if you buy a house and someone parks their car in your driveway, are you griefing if you have it towed? Because that is all they are doing. park your raft off shore or destroy it when you leave an island in a sloop. Don't park in my driveway.
  17. i suspect most of the time this is being done because people are leaving rafts blocking dry docks or on beaches in claimed territory and generally in places they shouldn't. When people land on beaches in our settlement we tell them if you leave it here and block our spots we will destroy it. In pve someone can park their sloop in front of my dry dock and block a galleon from leaving and there is nothing you can do about it.
  18. we are experiencing this as well. We are losing large patches of land and cannot take them back because they become protected once they are stolen.
  19. don't bother with guns, use your axes and picks.
  20. haha we did the same thing but luckily we got away with no lost ships in the first attack. Though i dont know how many more there will be.
  21. we took one out with hand tools on our PvE server when he got too close to our stuff
  22. we need a way to use a stick or something to push off from walls or the beach. I brought my raft in close to land with a dry dock next to it. Pulled the sails and fit neatly into the gap in the dry dock walls and couldn't get it out again. I had to wait till it had some collision detection and it was pushed back and free.
  23. Why not have the claim flag be a feat and you buy them in the skill tree, each one you buy allows an additional flag placement, if you place more than you have then the first one placed gets unclaimed. Give the flags like a 7 day destruction timer, if you don't log in in that time it decays but don't allow for contesting territory. Significantly increase the claim radius of flags but have it so flags don't stop respawns. Then if a member wants to spec for land grabs they can but otherwise you just get one flag for each member of the company. This would limit the amount of flags needed to claim an island and stop people from spamming flags on other peoples islands to mess with them because if they did their island would become unclaimed.
  24. I totally agree, way back in the original Guild wars you had to earn a token to get a guild island. If they gave each company one flag-token to start with and this flag-token claimed an island for that company. To earn another flag-token the company would have to perform some service for either the "King" whoever that may be, such as destroying the hydra that lives on xxxx island. While it is still early days I would like to see a bit of life into the oceans in the forms of living NPCs not just the ships of the damned. A bit of story to the land that you can interact with really helps immersion.
  25. I had this idea that you could create a physical map to hang in your base and every time you explored a bit more you could go back and update this map by filling in the sections that they just discovered and then anyone from your company can come and update their personal maps off of the larger company one. This way you could have members of the company dedicated to exploring and cartography which will help the company by bringing back sections of the map for all to share.
