  1. *nods knowingly* Yes of course. It's always better when you can tweak server replication values and open the door to proxy values matching gains in reduced boat gliding. I'm glad you guys are putting time and attention into taxing client performance. I know many words but not what it means when you put them together in that order. *head asplodes* Kidding aside I assume for the laymen this means performance improvements, which is, at the end of the day, about how far you have to dumb it down so I can understand it. I gather the main thing is that going forward performance will be better when I'm on a boat.
  2. eleventy one *holds out his hand* Golden egg nao plz
  3. Thanks for the info Jat as this is something people always want to know about.
  4. Ms Wells would give you an F on this post for saying allot. Then she would remind you it's two words in a voice dripping with sarcasm that implied every 3rd grader knew this without thinking about it. Ms Wells was amazing but also scary as hell.
  5. It also doesn't mean that the design of a Massively Multiplayer should be done primarily with the solo player in mind. It's great that you were able to play so many games solo and have fun, that means you should also be able to play Atlas solo and have fun, based on your own ingenuity, skill and experience at tackling challenges solo. What it doesn't mean is that the devs should design the game specifically to ensure that you will at the expense of considerations for groups.
  6. This would be both realistic and a move towards better game balance.
  7. Ice is the new Salt. All the cool kids are using it.
  8. You have two to choose from. You did not specify small household domesticated. Enjoy your Lion or Tiger, whichever you prefer.
  9. Well I did call that rattlesnake a racist Nazi for using tarot cards at our last poker night. That's probably why he hates me. What a culturally insensitive ass.
  10. *starts scribbling notes, ignoring the fact this is all posted in written form.* Oooo yeah, good ideas, good ideas. Maybe we could even have crew HMO's for their health care needs and you couldn't leave port until paying the harbormaster your crew's premium that you have to cover as their employer. And in the finest traditions of the IRS, you would be responsible for doing all the math to figure out what you owed, instead of just being presented a bill like pretty much every other @#$%ing organization on earth. (Seriously, why do we as US taxpayers still put up with this nonsense?) Here's the icing on the cake: A mini game (since everyone LOVES the mini games in Atlas) that you'd have to play to pay the harbormaster the correct amount or face a surcharge penalty for being off slightly. The penalty would bear no meaningful or rational relationship to the amount of the error, just an arbitrary figure taken out of your pocket. Doesn't that sound like fun?
  11. Very well written, well reasoned, and clearly presented. Kudos. This is what high quality feedback looks like.
  12. *runs off to the suggestion forums to suggest barnacles that need cleaning once per week or more or negatively impact speed.*
  13. Manta Rabies sounds like a great name for a garage band from Daytona.
  14. It's an aggro mechanic. Wild creatures that aggro on you then aggro on any structures you own if you are not nearby or available to target. It prevents exploits. No it's not super realistic, but it's important for game play reasons. It won't be fixed because it isn't broken. Games are not always reflective of reality, particularly pirate fantasy games with cyclops and hydras and krakens.
  15. I'm in favor of anything that contributes to a positive atmosphere. Acknowledging someone else's help is always a good idea.
  16. Weird. My Eta marker for the next island over just says "Give up and learn to herd goats you hopeless landlubber."
  17. *holds out hand* AT-AT now plz. You say this as if the two are mutually exlusive....
  18. Likely in more ways than one. Baa Zing! I got ten doubloons that say that old Master Sergeant was in Nam when fragging second lieutenants was a thing.
  19. You can succeed without tames, it's just not as efficient. I have done treasure maps both with tames and without them. With tames is faster. Admittedly bears were OP, and even after the recent nerf might need a bit more of a nerf, but the point is not that people shouldn't express opinions to the devs but rather the OP wants something that is an issue for him and perhaps a small minority given priority because he makes playstyle choices that are unusual and create extra difficulty for himself. AI pathing and tame combat balance are things one would normally expect to be addressed over time in a long term EA process, just not necessarily at such an early juncture since they aren't game defining.
  20. All other factors being equal, given that range is primarily a function of the force applied to the projectile, and given that recoil force then becomes a consideration, a fixed gun emplacement can always do more to compensate for recoil than a towed gun, so the answer has always been never. All other factors being equal.
  21. Any conversation in a public space is de facto inviting public comment. If you don't want me to put my two cents in, take it to pm. *sticks his tongue out at Realist.*
