What you refer to as "Wolf and Sheep" dilemma, I call a lack of proper incentive. By default the mechanics will always favor a bigger company, cant be helped. This makes the default incentive to join a bigger company. Examples: 1. The wolves go after the sheep because there is no incentive for them to go after another wolf. In fact the incentive is currently reversed. It costs/risks nothing to cruise by lawless and level everything insight. Where as you could loose all your gear and fleet in a more competitive engagement. 2. There is no incentive to take over someone's island if you already have your own. In fact, its reversed again. There is more benefit/incentive to defending your island than taking someone else's. Even worse, the implied incentive is for a solo/small company to try to get an island with that sweet peace timer. GL 1 or 2 vs 50+. If we had proper incentives for the bigger wolves, they would not eat all of the sheep. We need something to compete for that is tangible, rewarding, and progressive. Example: Lineage 2 had castles that could be contested every other weekend. Some smaller castles that drew tax from their local towns, and some larger castles that drew tax from the region. Bigger clans would go for bigger castles, smaller clans would go for smaller castles. Solos and tiny clans would go for forts. A group of 4 would be happy with a fort, knowing they could never take a castle, because outside of taxes, they functioned similarly, both had stores, buffs and teleporters. The owning an island and taxing residents was an attempt at this, but the balance is lopsided. The owner has near complete control of residents and structures and gets the tax. The little guy gets nothing from the deal. The WH and trade markets are a good step towards this. Personally (as a rough draft), I would add NPCs with stores and AH in freeports (a working economy basically), then a central island that is claimable once a week that sets/draws tax from the 4 freeport islands and perhaps a portion of the control points. The control points are for solos and small companies to squabble over, while the bigger companies would contend for the central island. This is all after removing claimable islands OFC. Lets open the map back up, make everything lawless outside of freeports. Oh, and not once will I ever care about what a dev spends on servers. Their monetary concerns are theirs, not mine. We didn't fund the game with our $5-15 per person. They are a business and it takes money to make money. They will not make money without a game that can release and sell for $40-60 a copy. hmmm....unless your Star Citizen.

Was a great game until they forced na pve players to play pvp or suffer from the lagg of connecting to a server in eu. I gave this game high ratings and now I have changed them to pore ratings for stealing money from pve na players. I get they needed money witch is why they changed the maps but they advertised it as a PVE/PVP NA/EU mmo pirate game however they removed the NA PVE. This was a great game. RIP ATLAS I miss you

What is the deal? I know for a fact this has to be happening to others, and I think it should be on the top 5 list of things to be addressed and quickly. Now with the ships costing gold to produce, a change I very much agree with and applaud, as it makes your ship have more value. As all us players know, the best way to make gold is from treasure bottles, and to complete the treasure map inside. Now back in the day at launch the treasure map system had its issue's with 90% of the time the location to dig up the treasure was always at some unreachable location at the top of a mountain etc. etc. This has been addressed and for myself and the 100's upon 100's of treasure maps completed, i can say it still has issues but its nothing at all like before *Applaud* HOWEVER - The issue at hand is - many many many of times, i will run up to a bottle go to collect it, and it will just vanish "poof" like a fart in the wind. I have done alot of testing and spent many of hours trying to understand the bottle spawn system and rates. As you all know bottles will spawn from 22:00 - 3:00 every in game day. The amount is random and each island has it own bottle spawn system, much like the mob spawner. I have cleared the island each day and each night I will run laps for maps. Next time i will video record for proof for the dev's. During the night, I watch as the bottles appear from up top a cliff, I run down to nearly spawned bottles, go to collect them and each one after pushing "E" just disappears, for no reason. And its frustrating to see a few 18.0+ just go poof. We need the gold to get our ship, we get gold by doing treasure maps, players cant do treasure maps, if we cannot collect them. I know others are having this issue, please voice your concern and your stories and lets hope for the best.

Are devs actually planning to make Atlas a dead game? 5000 for schooner? schooner is the simplest useful ship to start enjoying and experiencing the game. its not even that easy to build! you need to still put time for it. if it was 5000 to buying a schooner all made, it was good. but paying 5k and then building it by ourselves? How does that even make sense? we should farm 5k with sloop? one person even cant manage to carry that much of gold. Who even we are paying that gold to? its really ridiculous idea. its a pirate game. C'mon devs do something about it! you guys cant see the game is already losing players...

https://antihax.github.io/ says its located in only one grid, K11 - I get there, the person whom owns the island, his flag pole has the iron wood, So I know its gotta be here. Somewhere, After carefully searching the entire island its no where to found, However the owner of the island, left a wonderful message, "No settlers" all structures will be destroyed. The entire island is filled with "perfectly spaced foundations x3 and chest" perfectly spaced as in, Forget trying to place anything. However I think this person has unknowingly blocked resources from respawning. Has anyone seen any Ironwood anywhere else? I've got a mythic ship yard I need to build.

How to destroy your game the first step is not to listen to the community They have not even thought about small groups

I have set up my trade preferences to reflect what is available in my grid because it is only one grid trading currently. For example, 1:1 strong wood for iridium, fronds for strong wood, iridium for fronds, iridium for strong wood. I didn’t really care about what I was getting I just wanted it to work. I also talked to the other folks to make sure they wanted what I had. I hope this helps. lol what Fred said Hey Fred, is it possible that your trading partner ran out of whatever materials you asked for? I noticed last night that I was completely out of wood but had 120000 metal.

This is a great post that shows way more familiarity with PVP design than anything the devs have posted. PVP absolutely relies on an influx of newer players or it stagnates and dies. Griefers and seal clubbers drive newbies away. So do high barriers to content (looking at gold requirements for ships). To get to some sort of equilibrium, you need upward pressure on the bottom (to motivate newer, less skilled players) and downward pressure on the top (to avoid too much consolidation of power/complacency). This is why things like flat costs are generally bad (they are hard on newbies/lowbies) and scaled/ramping costs are better (more expensive for better stuff). PVE is often much easier to balance as adding new animals, furniture, etc. is fairly easy and uses existing systems. Adding those same things in PVP is tougher if they affect the balance of power. The real issue is that maintaining multiple servers is a constant expense, as are dev salaries and the game relies on pushing waves of discounted purchases. A subscription service for official would be a more stable way to get income, but would drive down active numbers and, right now, the broken systems and frequent wipes probably wouldn't sustain subscriptions. It would also pressure them to listen to players or risk losing income, whereas now the players are basically just unpaid beta testers.

@PiszkosFred I said 8 because when I look at the other company trade routes it says 7/8, 3/8, 16/8, etc., so I figured 8 was the limit. I may be incorrect, Glad to hear about the income, I suppose if we had 8 routes all shipping and receiving, it would make plenty of gold to build ships.

Unless your going to ban folks for that, theres nothing you can do to avoid such gameplay. But of you get rid of the exclusion zone, does it really matter/impact anyone elses gameplay? Farmhouse iirc have a 20day decay, warehouses are 40 and markets are 60. (Which is insane btw, almost as bad as fucking 20day signs) My money would be a on wipe before the 1st market decays.

Parked you say? Yeah im not too sure, you seem suspicious. Im not sure if you are parked at all. Where is your island? I'm asking so that i can park my anchored immune vessel there and then we can have "fun" in this "video game" when my immune vessel does things to you

Yeah totally, 1 per company is something that solos and small companies complain about because mega (company) have 1 per company also Sheesh. PVE players stop complaining please?

Crazy idea... remove farmhouses and markets, theb combine all the functions into the warehouse. Give the warehouse the ability to farm ALL resource types on the island at the speed of 2 stone farmhouses. Limit the warehouse to either 1 per company per island or 1 per company per grid. Think that about covers it and kills the farmhouse spam to boot.

Broken trading, 20% of bottles give a map. Most are worthless, the rest are on player operated islands you cannot get to. That leaves dives, if they aren't in the middle of ghost ships with a tiny sloop. Game needs to be monitored, maintain ed.

~350dmg -> ~850 balls needed But they are blocking other structures (even each other) in a funny retangle that is turned 40° clockwise... so it is not good for harbor integration... You can build structures before placing the dock over it... but you cannot place anything on the dock (so no Puckles - which only be needed when the dock is destroyed anyway) I guess you also cannot build anything on the ship in the dock because of it. I would ask to remove the structure blocking, so we can use them in our harbor builds - structures are not protected anyway... Would gladly remove my 10k structure protective docks and replace it with armored docks, but a ship parking space needs some other useable/buildable structures as well...

Devs, I can save you a lot of effort. Reduce company ship limits (1-3 per person). Make green anchored vessels immune to deal or receive dmg, or just cap it at .01% dmg if it has to have a value. Add a gold upkeep to ships like NPCs and it draws from the chest onboard. Its not a big deal, Sea of Thieves gives you a new ship every time yours sinks. There nothing wrong with me having to sleep on my boat and keep gold in it to keep it safe 100% when I'm parked. Less lag, less effort, more friendly to solos and small groups. Your welcome.

Hello, I am running a small family blackwood server and I would like to increase the quality of maps respectively the bottles so that we can find maps higher than blue. And even those blue are still very rare currently. We collected much more than 100 maps and most of them are just not worth the effort. Please keep in mind that I don't want to have a general higher item quality or easier maps. Just higher quality and thus more difficult treasures for a better reward. It would be great if somebody knows a server setting for that. I can't find anything related, not even with Google.
