  1. They definitely stealth nerfed bears about a month ago. I have since upgraded to bred bears with much higher attack %. Basically where you could solo a pink map before, now the aotd hit you also, not just the bear. We run anything above 20 with two bears. One carrying the map triggers the spawn and lets the other take the initial hit, that way if they die you don't bug the map (every time the map holder has died on a map we have had to wait and respawn it). That is if you can find a high level map that isn't bugged to shit with the return of the missing guardians on every other one, even flat ones on a beach. Irritating. They will eventually figure out that pissing off the playerbase with idiocy in the quest for "hardcore gameplay" is going to unsustainable for population numbers. We have several members who have just noped the fuck out and moved on to other games.
  2. Since the post is a vague rage it is hard to tell. Does he mean the blasts from larger maps that can hit your bear and you? Sometimes you will get stunned enough to be knocked off if you don't have enough torpor block.
  3. Sorry, it was a subtle dig at people who don't mark obvious hazards on their owned islands for when people approach. Buoys are cheap, don't need maintenance, render first usually before terrain. There have been many times sailing that they have saved my ship. So if you advertise "Farm here!" then don't mark obvious hazards, kind of an oblivious move. Placing buoys doesn't affect flag broadcasts at all.
  4. Yes, if you own a single island it will only display there. Once they enter the "green" circle surrounding your island it will display. Depending on the arbitrary system Grapeshot put in place that can be waaaaay out where they are cursing you for not putting up buoys marking rocks and sandbars, or right next to cliff faces. The only people that will see are those that are interested in coming close. The other option is to rename your island with what you want to display. I have seen some that are called Copper/Agedwood/Gems or variations so it displays on the Atlas map if they have island names toggled.
  5. 1. Displays message in every territory you own. 2. Displays message just for that flags island. 3. Displays message for all islands in that zone that you have claimed. (example, if you have claimed 2 islands in E6)
  6. - Fixed some invalid cannon placements / shooting edge cases. - Open gunports will obstruct firing from any cannons that are not explicitly linked to them, either by dismounting the shooter or blocking the projectile Guess the patch notes answer that question.
  7. It is a 4 month old necro. They have nerfed the Kraken repeatedly in the previous months so now it is small group completion.
  8. Had you interacted with the crew and the birds in the week previous to logging off? Animals don't render refresh, you have to actually pick them up and put them down (for the carried ones) to refresh the timer. If you just leave them on the boat and don't touch them, the timer doesn't reset. Now that people can get on your boat just taming a bunch of chickens and rabbits and just leaving them in range of a trough is not going to work anymore.
  9. Sometimes it takes the servers a while for the changes to take effect. Had a kneejerk response and posted on forums when they doubled everyones discovery points and I had logged on right after the update to not see it take effect. Couple hours later and login and it was fixed.
  10. They fixed weight bombing and crew bombing from what they said. While anchored. So guess the new fun will be looking for boats floating unanchored.
  11. I am more concerned with all the creepers that will be going over our boats in pve. Had designed em without doors for easy access cause didn't need to worry about it, but the first person that forgets to lock a container is going to be in for a surprise.
  12. What? No more boloing chickens and throwing them on peoples ships? I cry fowl!
  13. You can salvage player wrecks in PVE. It is a great source of repair materials. Swim down, hit E and demolish various things. If they never came back you can often salvage what they were carrying too. We got 5k gold off a wreck the other day. Either we beat them to it, or they just forgot they had the gold on it.
  14. They can't even fill the 4 official ones they have now to 10%. Thinking they are going to outlay expense to provide a regional server to a niche market is a nice dream.
  15. The pillars we have put down wouldn't block digging up a map, and none would stop people from putting stuff to get up slopes. More your problem would be getting up there to find someone had put a house down.
  16. Sometimes it needs to be done to block idiocy. We have an island we have been using from the beginning that is just chock full of iron nodes. Only has two or three beach access points. The original people for the first month that had settled there were give along to get along types. Then we got invaded by the box people. Who then proceeded to build inane structures over spawn points and started trying to block beach access to the interior. After a couple went into decay we demolished and pillared the rest with stone pillars so spawns wouldn't be affected. We are still plagued by one guy who will search for any opening and put up animal catchers (single wood pillar with ceiling tile on top) to make moving the larger tames a pita. But if we hadn't made access lanes from the iron fields to the beach they would have walled it in.
  17. Concensus is 30. I have personally had a 28.8 that we used 3 bears to do.
  18. Shipyards do indeed drop from treasure maps and the purpose behind them is also to make higher level ships. The higher durability on the shipyard, the higher ship quality that comes out of it. The higher quality, the higher max level it can attain. The higher max level, the more points you have to customize. So they are indeed well worth it. Shipyards will also occasionally drop from shipwrecks and flotsam, but mythical I have gotten from higher level treasure maps so often now I am throwing away the lower durability ones because we will never make them when we have higher ones in storage already.
  19. Hell, if he thinks that is bad he should have seen the islands before the wipe where I would free whole barns and put them on aggressive and wander.
  20. And those games have progression of content. They don't have toxic islands of instant death the moment you put foot on them. You can look at the "progression" posts and all they give are tips on how to cheese mechanics and terrain to glitch those "bosses." It isn't about having the best gear, full mythos will not allow you take the hits if you try normal tactics. If you have to glitch bosses to complete them then that is not "raiding". I don't mind a challenge, but making shit impossible for your average player and then saying "Git Gud Noob!" "Learn to cheese with the rest of us!" will only take them down the same path to closure that Wildstar and others that said they would cater to "hardcore raiders" at the expense of the wider base that pays the bills. But as I said above, this is primarily a mindset among B2P titles vs subscription.
  21. They allowed people to get the achievement and the sub unlock if they didn't have the stones after they realized very few people were doing the content. Thing is, if you go back to H8 and try to trigger the kraken fight, it isn't going to work for you. We will find out in the next few hours to days, but I bet that unless you have all the stones in you compass of either sort, the doorway or "zonewall" for the ice dungeon won't let you pass into the instance. Or they could have some similar cheese mechanic where once someone enters it throws up a timed wall like the kraken fight preventing anyone else attempting at that same time. Wait and see, but I am not optimistic that they haven't stepped on their dicks once again.
  22. Don't worry. Once the few remaining large groups that are left have smashed to content they will see the same metrics they had for the sub and relax the restrictions. They never learn from previous mistakes that pissing off the remaining playerbase by forcing them to do toxic content like powerstone islands that can only be accomplished by knowing how to glitch bosses is costing them players. But then again, it is a buy-to-play title. They got your money, fewer players means fewer servers they have to pay for and when the eventual closure comes they have a metrics that will help them explain away their failure for the next job interview. The writing is on the wall when even the Chinese have given up trying to make RMT money off the game.
  23. We have a guy on one of the lawless islands who uses a half built galleon as a base/barn to keep tames and such. Gets around the weight limits by not finishing it or launching it. Maybe they added something to stop that from happening.
  24. Don't know that particular location, but if it is near where you can get a boat, or even a raft near enough you could try to port it to ship.
