  1. I knew it... you always sounded like a PVE Bob with your demands... Don't wait too long to buy it... you might be 100yds behind the other XBOX Bobs if you wait too long...
  2. - Denial - Anger - Bargaining (<-- you are here) - Depression - Acceptance So what you are saying is that every XBOX Bob that not gets the game on day one of your preciouse XBOX wipe will not buy the game, because Realist had a 100yds head start... Well, seems like we have to check our (other) PC privilege and accept daily wipes until no more XBOX Realists are buying the game... because every Realist deserves a wipe... Hopefully his stuff gets wiped daily by us other Bobs, so he may learn that in this game it is not the end of the world when you have to start again, while others are further ahead... happens daily... But I guess you complained to your mother after your birth that you were not born the same day as everyone else... The trick is not that you start at the same time as everyone else... but to get ahead on your own, again and again... or do you also want equality in progression... like for every resource someone farms you get one too so you are not 'left behind'?
  3. - Denial (<-- you are here) - Anger - Bargaining - Depression - Acceptance Adding to Jack Shandy's correct recap of what they said and want to do if possible...: - They said they are looking at not wiping on XBOX - because the game has no major changes that warrant a wipe... - They will even try to implement the new map layout (moving islands, deleting islands, adding islands) without a wipe... meaning anyone on those deleted islands and maybe the moved around ones gets island wiped... still no wipe if possible - The next thing I can think of which could use a wipe is their intent to massively change the BP system, from a gear based meta to a player-skill based meta... meaning all the old BPs and the gear made from it have to go... guess what, they did not wipe when they had to get rid of this before... the just deleted the duped/illegal crafted stuff, many boats sunk when their planks disappeared... still no wipe needed... And guess what, it is EA, they can wipe you individually if need be... And than again the obvious reason not to wipe just because of you - why should they? You buy a MMO game at some point, should they just wipe because you joined? And should they wipe you when your buddy joins...? If XBOX sells work well that would be 50k wipes... That is the snowflake in you... wanting a participation trophy and a wipe, because you deserve it... And coming back to Jack Shandy, the only hope the XBOX Bobs can have if there is a wipe, to grab anything in the claim race against the PC Bobs, is that every PC Bob would go out to GOS (grief on sight) Realist, just because... will Realist take one for the team...?!?! But I don't want to make you out as a special snowflake... currently, because other snowflakes thought there would be a wipe now (stream time - which would be funny if they would wipe again few months later for XBOX, giving only a few months to play) almost everyone is going crazy and wiping everyone until they get wiped... the current destruction is so, that the servers might be decayed into 'wipe-like' conditions when XBOX comes...
  4. If you believe in it very hard it might happen, snowflake... But they already said otherwise... So you will be like everyone else that buys a game late 'in the game'... And even if, you will be left behind so fast even if you come online first on a new server...
  5. So that the Solo-Bob can never handle anything bigger than a sloop...?!?! So he has to join a company to get Bobs for the other tasks on the bigger ships... So he no longer is Solo-Bob... I like it... not...!
  6. There does not need to be a wipe, just because some new players bought the game... Think about it - pleeeease do think - You say if the XBOXers buy the game there has to be a wipe, because yada yada equal start for everyone... And what about the guys that buy it on day two or week two or month two? Hell what about the poor guys that right today buy the Steam version? Should they not also be entitled to have their own personal wipe just so they also start at the same time as everyone else...? Would online be fair, right? Social Gaming Justice Affirmative Action...? Or not? At what point would you go from XBOX customer deserving a wipe to XBOX customer that just so happens to buy the game and enter into a existing server? And anyway, what will happen when XBOX gets a wipe for Crossplay... when the first XBOX Bob reaches the his first claimable island in his ramshackle sloop he took a good day to get going, he will be greeted by the PC players that started at the same time, but knew what to do and where to go... with Brigs and tames and carved out islands, protected harbors, etc... The XBOX guys will be late to the party every time... So it makes no difference and they are no more better than anyone starting to play on Steam today... At current rate when the XBOX guys enter there will be not much left of the Steam guys... as those Bobs thought there would be a wipe now (and 2-3 later another one for XBOX) and wiped their own base or are right no going suicidal and wipe everyone until they get wiped... Until XBOX most of the island will be empty anyway... and the left behind Steam Bobs will be very nice to the XBOX Bobs and help them out so they get settlers and company members... those XBOX Bobs will get a head start and get training to enjoy the game faster... You should be more concerned for the XBOX Bobs that when they join, they will be stuck with us with the same land PVP imbalance that killed of >90% of the player base... and no wipe will help about that...
  7. So it would be like now where PVP hide in Freeports... only with this idea they can build in those protected areas... that kills PVP... there will only be arena fights... Also thanks to the vroken PVE the big guys will push the luttle guys out if the PVE zones... so while they are protected, they feed on the little guys stuck in PVP, making them leave this now more broken game... Please start to finally inderstand that yiur stuff is save in PVP if land PVP would be balanced so the defender actually could build meanigful protections... Dont change what is working, change what is broken... Anything else will make it worst...!
  8. Fun fact, the guys most harmed by the alliance limit are the same guys that wanted it...the small companies... hallo foot, meet bullet...

This would require balancing land PVP in that NPC defences would work against at least just one than no longer OP tame attacker - like the cannon bear with guns out-ranging defense systems and resistance that tanks damage if he would come in range... Then we would have to not invest so much time in building performance killing structures that do not help against attackers and would than go out to sea and down to Davy Jones locker together with our ships...

At the current rate of stupid behavior there will be none of the old megas left... everyone of them since the stream is quitting or going postal, mostly both... because they were expecting a wipe... think about it, they wanted a wipe now and had to expect another one with XBOX, so in 3 months again... now with Dollies post about the stream it more looks like that the next wipe will be way past the XBOX release... so we are a looking at 5 months since last wipe and 3 months till possible next wipe, but maybe up to 6 months when they start changes (like the balancing of the BP system, which requires getting rid of the old BP stuff, but maybe they just remove them without wipe like the last time)... so we are 2/3 to 1/2 way through this season and people quitting because it is 'not worth it' playing for many many more months... Also I getting more and more the impression that they actually will not wipe for XBOX... and why should they... wipe is only useful for the lag fest people that get in the first day... everyone that buys the game even a week after will be behind anyway... or are we so entitled already that everyone who buys a this type of MMO gets a wipe of everyone else when he first locks in ?!?! If they make a wipe, what will happen is, that the PC players will make the gold rush knowing what they are doing, leaving any XBOX player in the dust... when the first XBOX reach a claimable island the will be greeted by brigs already... If they don't wipe and the first XBOX player gets on, he will be greeted in Freeport by the PC players looking for new members or settlers, helping them out just to get fresh blood...

Sad that they removed the map fog of war, too easy (less fun) now to find the treasure map islands... 7. use rope ladders... 11. use ramshackle sloop... 12. thought that was already a thing... did it pre wipe for the last time... dinghy hangar is for subs...

  16. Well, all the player related problems with the PVE servers is due to missing PVP mechanics to resolve player vs player issues in PVE... foundation spam anyone...? Atlas is not a PVE only playable game... the crying and leaving PVE players prove it in this forum allmost daily... They want protection this and and restriction that against other players doing legit things within the game mechanic against which PVE does not allow protection or solution... therefore the crying by people like you about PVE... And then again thanks to you we now know that they still dont have anyone capable person to solve the problems this game has... PVP mechanics is dead last on their agenda, but the main reason people are leaving PVP and PVE servers... Carthago delenda est and fix PVP !

Thanks to your thread we now know where the guy comes from and that that games PVP side is also a mess... this corresponds well with what we saw in the stream, where PVP is also the least of their new concerns, while it is the main cause for many of the PVE problems in this PVP game... As you seem to not play PVP they only thing you will notice in Atlas that PVE is broken because it has not enough PVP mechanics... On the PVP side everything including the PVE is broken because of the PVP imbalance... That conclusion was not jumped on because of your thread, but way way way before, if you take notice of this forums... You just only confirmed it even more with your tidbit...   19. Carthago delenda est and fix PVP ! If your PVP defense structures could actually defend your base your stuff would be save(r) and we would not need any peace time... People are not leaving because they get raided/wiped... people are leaving after they got raided/wiped and realise that there is nothing they can do about it... if they could do something within the game mechanic to be better protected they would just rebuild better...

Well that stream was the perfect example of marketing - by touching every subject but not giving any solution, so that the customer dreams up the solution that he thinks they will do, thereby making it the best game to literally 'dream' of for each individual and therefore sticks to the game... in the end they have plausible deniability "never said that"... The whole show was about how to sell us - that is the current PC players and the coming in XBOX players - that XBOX is the All Mighty Dollar and that is why we delay everything... For the PC it means nothing changes until months after XBOX release... For the XBOX it means they can enjoy the same problems the PC had, that made 95% and counting of the player base leave... If you get past this point in the stream about the XBOX then you find out the real problem they have - no clue... Yes they touched on every subject we are screaming for many months now - so I guess at least someone sometimes reads what we say... They acknowledge all the problems yes. But they don't say anything how they want to fix it. They just give a list of all solutions we gave them over time. Maybe change to claiming, maybe factions, maybe NPC factions, maybe relations... so Realist can continue his dream and we players continue our hope for something complete different, keeping us both in the market - mission accomplished...' Same with offline protection, they think about this that and the other thing... Same with PVP. 'Yeah it is broken' 'Yeah, all what you players say is true'... But in the end they gave nothing about what they want to do... BECAUSE THEY STILL HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO... Hell the main problem of the game - PVP balancing is at the END of their new road map... They put the easy stuff first - QoL... so they don't have to touch the real subjects and can do their homework as late as possible... How should changes to ships so that you do not loose them so fast, when loosing them is a PVP problem that gets changed last...? Hell the main reason you loose your stuff - and they want to make it so you don#t loose your stuff so often - is that the broken PVP takes your stuff... You don't need any changes to the claim system, or factions or banks or PVE zones... just balance the PVP so the defender can actually defend his stuff even when offline at least against a solo cannon bear and that will already save a lot of stuff, bases and ships... but NO, PVP is the last problem to solve... lets try to dance around the problem and change the other stuff around it... This game will be MOAB with broken PVP by that rate... Everyone will hide in a PVE zone/faction/claim and if someone comes out to PVP it will be agreed - "lets meet and battle it out with the stuff we can afford to loose"... Hell, if the player count goes up again, the big guys will hog in PVE and push the small guys into PVP therefore making them the only targets to PVP... And then the side notes so to speak... like ship sailing... They acknowledge that is sometime boring and the boring part takes too long. They did not say anything what they want to do, might be faster ships, might be more stuff happening between A to B. The only thing for sure is if they go the speed route while the PVP is not balanced the people now crying about more speed will not only have their neighboring sector pirates raiding them, but the whole server will be at their door step knocking with cannon balls. Distance is safety, reduce the time to travel the distance, reduce that safety... nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, you get wiped of the server even faster. And obviously, if the ships go faster how should ship PVP work? How do you intercept someone if he changes multiple grids in the time it takes you to get from rendering range to cannon range? Hell the current Meta is if you get ganged on the sea turn into the wind to the next Freeport... if that not takes 10-30min but merely 3-5min how much MORE ship PVP will happen on the sea? Performance was also mentioned... Well duh, this is an early ARK engine, of which the current ARK engine their Devs say it should be redone completely... But their is an easy fix for the performance problems, especially in PVP: FIX PVP !!! so that the defender not need to build this giant structures that still give no protection... BTW that would also come along nicely with your time pie chart with the 50% time spent on land farming and building the performance killing structures... If you not need 50,000 structure to maybe be somewhat save from the lone cannon bear wiping all your stuff, you could get in your boat and play the rest of the game... Obviously they could also make bigger bigger structure parts so that you can build the same things with less parts... until then we continue build large stone walls not with one large stone wall, but with 120+++ normal walls so we get those million HP and not only 24K... Actually the only positive thing said in the stream was from the new guy... That the game play is too heavy on gear quality and low on player skills... That comes from the time when they already did not have a clue and started to listen to the NO SKILL streamers and zergs... But then again that would mean TO FIX PVP !!!
  21. The main problem you loose your stuff in this game is the PVP balancing. Somehow you need to have multiple people online at all times working a giant defense network and hundreds of NPCs and tames to secure your stuff... fine... Against one Bob with a cannon bear... WTF...! cannot kill him with a mythical carbine head shot... cannot kill the bear with a galleon broadside... Somehow it would be unrealistic if one guy would not be able to wipe any Maginot-Line type of defense by himself... Think about it... If you would need many Bobs and gear to take on a well build defense and they have to loose - invest - most of their stuff in the process - like in real warfare... What would be with the loot in that base? If not many would be willing to loose equal or more of their stuff just to get to your stuff... Would your stuff be relatively save...? Yes... Oh and by the way, the performance drop in larger PVP in this game is directly proportional to the stuff the defender needs to build to be a few more minutes longer 'save' before the attacker breaks through anyway right now... so MOAR stuff build is better... and cost more performance... But it would be "no fun" raiding someone if the active defenses (NPCs on guns) would actually work and not need 15,000 x limit-reached structure to hold of at Bob on a cannon bear for just a few minutes... Yeah sure, we could have better building structures... like 2x2 walls would 1/4 the structures need to be build... how about 4x4 or any other combination? Too easy? How about a large stone wall - being 12x10x2 in actual volume - replacing AT LEAST 120 walls... but having only 24,000 HP, compared to the 1,200,000 HP for the 120 walls... hell, if you just shoot out the lower 10 walls to bring the structure down they are still 100,000 HP... But because of multi layer design used in game that will still not bring it down... wanna just bring in a tame through a hole in that wall - 2x2 - it is still 40,000 HP and not just 24,000 HP... Your stuff will be save the moment the attacker needs to invest at least equal resources in the attack comparable to the defenses. Your performance will go up, the moment the defender does not need to build up to the structure-limit useless structures to maybe defend against a total noob for a few minutes more that just tame a bear and strapped a cannon on... The other thing about everyone leaving or absorb into bigger companies, is mainly a problem that 90% of the original player base did not get what the island claims are for and had the impression everyone not only deserves a trophy but also their very own island... which they cannot hold, because of the easy offline raiding, even if they could invest the time away from their RL to build an overkill of structures to defend it... As suggested before, settlers need to become a highly priced resource. You do not KOS that, you want to use it. Forcing more protection from the large (that actually are able to hold an island) for the small... As for the PVP timers... and the useless protection they give to anyone not being able to "at least" be online for 9 hours a day... Get rid of them and make island raiding a actual capture the flag... Make the claimed island PVP protected all the time, raid able when lawless, and make the flag circle PVP all the time (with meaningful defenses pleeeeease!)... You want to raid the island, take the fort build around the flag circle first... You small settler guys want to keep your current overlord and your stuff, help defend the flag circle... The more settlers, the more possible defenders online... or just get your stuff out when thing look to go south... Not much need anymore for everyone to build giant structure all over the island just to protect their small loot... no need for the stupid amount of harbor protection just so your ships might be there when you get online and want to play a pirate sailing game...
  22. Godspeed to the new lead designer...! This will be a great game, if - like everyone else - he atleast not listen to the Realist that is not in the game room... For everything else, the Bobs that actually do play the game and know what they are talking about have written ample concerns and suggestions from actual experience... The current concepts work - their balancing is the problem... And the realization that this is not ARK and it will not help to ARKify it more...
  23. Make settlers a meaningful resource and see the big guys not fighting with, but for settlers... Oh yeah and balance the lan PVP, so that a small settler with a cannon bear is a major thread that needs to be removed...
