  1. Thats why you should vote for me for El Presidente!
  2. Why? This is the thing Im having the hardest time understanding, assuming you find a landlord that isnt a dick (me *cough*), what is wrong with living on someone else's island? @Dollie, Abysian's idea is a neat idea for the piracy tree, would think that might help mitigate complaints about taxation, without negative impacts on the landowner. As others have said, not all areas will be 30% taxed. In fact ALOT of what Im seeing now is a 10-20% tax range which honestly isnt bad. Other than megas, why would landlords need to patrol/demo stuff to scare people off the island? As long as the builders talked (I know that can be scary at times) to the landlord Im sure rational minds could make something work. For example, if I manage to become El Presidente, I will reserve the right to demo stuff, IF tenants dont reach out to me (within a reasonable time, I understand the whole work/life/sleep thing) or they make fugly crap. (Which is not difficult to avoid, just dont build a damn box!) As for the muh Slaves crap, how are you a slave to the landlord? You pay taxes from what you farm which helps maintain the settlement. Yes you dont own the settlement, but it is maintained to the benefit of the island. (If you dont support El Presidente and he leaves, you might get a dick landowner next) Im would not be sitting there screaming at you to mine faster and then demoing your base b/c you didnt mine fast enough (which wont be demoable anyways after X hours) But it is my island. The game says so. With all that said, vote for me for the next El Presidente! I will only set a 10*% tax base (15*% on some (not all) 2x weekends) I am not a dick, welcome you all to build (you must talk to me first!), just dont build fugly shit or right on top of people! *Rates may change based on upkeep requirements
  3. Hi @Evza@Jatheish, I hope you are doing well. As we spoke last night regarding the PvE Claim flags, I wanted to give you my thoughts and suggestions for a solution. I would like to suggest that you keep the system with some changes. Increase the size of the land flag to the size of the current sea flag. Remove the sea flag. Flags no longer changes ownership of items/buildings (just cant build anymore w/o permissions) Limit the land claims to 1 per person per server, with up to 3 maximum servers (I can have a base in K1, E6, O10/ With 1 claim in each server). Companies should have the per person rule applied until the company has 3 flags in a single server. I.e 2 person company has 2 per server, 3 has 3 per server. 4 players has 3 flags, etc. However once a company hits a certain size the maximum servers increases: (Numbers for example) 10 players get 4 servers (of 3 flags, 12 total); 50 gets 6 (15 total); 100:12 etc. (This pushes for large companies to spread around the world, building empires/shipping routes, etc) Build into this an exponential decay/resource upkeep and I think you will have a balanced claim system. This allows for large companies to own many outposts, while also giving smaller companies the opportunity to have multiple outposts at the same time. This solution also gives a guaranteed safe area for players free from pillaring/foundational spam. However, with limiting claims you run the risk of not having access to water (ship building) and unclaimable areas (due to a claim being too close) going to waste. This is where I hate to admit it but "lawless" build needs to be allowed. 4 day decay + auto-repair and hp decay, plus no foundation blocking of spawns rules apply here. It allows for players to build (even after they hit their claim limit) and for those who cant find land to still play. In the future a "fluid" claim zone would be amazingly nice to have (no spaces between yours and another's claim). As for the other stuff, I'm not too keen on the everything being blocked behind the Kraken. As always numbers can be balanced :) Best Regards, Gin
  4. The system will remain in PvP, its 1 flag to claim an entire island now. Theres alot of salt atm on the PvP side b/c of the "allowed" raiding times, which each island owner will be able to set (its like 15 hours non-raid/9 hour window for raids) unless the company is at war. I get that that system does not work in PvE.. but this "lawless" solution honestly is worse than the PvP one IMO.
  5. While I would prefer 3-4 flags per person (maybe limited to 1 flag per server w a hard cap of 3-4?) any flags at this point is an improvement over pillar/foundation spam and the griefing that will come with jackasses building very near a base to block someone in/ruin the area. It is a pity that they chose a half-ass/quick "solution"
  6. Could careless about a wipe. With the lawless everywhere (pillar spam uglyness bullshit) "solution" for PvE. Im out. Later folks, was a fun 600 hours.
  7. Seriously, i mean why the fuck? (All the rest of your post i agree with, but the pigs... da fuq for?)
  8. Overall, IMO the bear is the go to. I would hate to see it further nerfed. (W/o making the ground game worth a shit) That said, only reason we have two wolves is because they got annoying, so we beat the snot out of em and stuffed full of food until they loved us. (Yes thats taming summed up) Horse and ostrich i think are neat and very much scouts. I would love to see an equivilent to a bear (weight, hp, damage) so we can pack more than just bears. (And a tiger.. cause its blue )
  9. Give it time it will happen. And low graphic settings do not cause this, I have mine maxed and we still rammed two yesterday
  10. 250 gold. Anyone know if there is a decay timer?
  11. A heat map you say? Where might 1 find that?
  12. Wow.. so a buddy needs help to save a ship 3 hours away and the only thing Id be able to say is "hang on im on my way.. only 3 hours till I get there" Thats some fun and engaging gameplay right there. /s
  13. I have taken land with a bank and the bank remained. I did not have a bank in the sever though.
  14. Those are most likely different companies from Asia. [] indicates a text charecter which you do not have installed so the game defualts to [] or ?. And yes it very much benefits those who got there first. (Our team merged with another company, which has worked out well for us) Ultimately I forsee there being a cap on flags along with an eventual wipe, but that will most likely be a year or year and half beofre they do it (if they do it). I would offer yall a spot on our claims but unfortunately we can not remove the temp base a guy setup on our land which blocks that spot (It was a mutual thing so he could build a schooner) Talk to people in the server chat, you may be able to find land for sale or companies that will let you build. Ive met plenty of nice folks on NA PvE (granted ive also met plenty of jackasses too) If your ever in D6 say hi
  15. So, whne you have your claim flag out you will see a white timer up top center of your screen. This the how long left until the claim your looking at will become available to claim. (Format is DD:HH:MM:SS) When it says that it can be contested, you find a spot to put your flag down, it will then begin lowering the other flag. Its 30min per flag, so if there are two enemy flags within your circle (teal during claim) it will take 1 hour before your flag starts being raised. Your flag takes 10min to raise. If the circle is yellow (holding h will show you circles) someone is currently within your flags radius which is contesting the claim. This will pause the claiming process. If its just you in the circle your good. (I believe crewmates will still interrupt this as well, not 100% on that tho) Once captured, the circle turns green. Your flag/claims have multiple settings which you can set. Neutral will let anyone build on your claim. If you set a flag to neutral (or allow x company to build) and then remove the build perms in 10days you should be able to demo that players base. (This is currently bugged and you will be unable to demo) Conversely, you can build on flags that have a yellow flag icon above them, but the above rules apply.
  16. If you can access a single flag you are able to copy build settings to all flags (its one of the options when you access the falg)
  17. Puckles have shit for range. Up close itll do 52 damage to an animal. Pistols out range em.
  18. Have the Same problem here. Allowed someone to build so they could build a ship. they sailed off I can't demo the structures even though it says demo is allowed
  19. PvErs complained about it becuase its stupid to have to make a crapton of trips to move the stupid amount of mats you need to craft stuff. Id be fine with tame removal, if they redid the ground combat (everything hits like a wetnoodle thanks to pvpers), drastically reduced the weight of items, and reduced the cost of mats. Since thats not going to happen, leave my tames alone.
  20. So on bases you can pincode the lanterns, then pincode a lever and they will turn on/off from 1 point. (Levers seem to have a decent range on em too and cqn have multiple of em w same code)
  21. Hi @Jatheish, I hope you and the team are well. Its now been almost a month since launch and I would like to provide to you and the team, my company’s feedback and comments (and hopefully some helpful ideas) on the current status of Atlas. For clarity we do not play PvP so these comments are focused on the PvE aspects of Atlas. Firstly, we are still loving the game. The x2 harvest event have been nice and have motivated us to finish off our base and we are now saving up for the our first galleon (cant wait for it). I really hope that there will be at least one event a month(ish). I have been have a blast fighting off the ships of the damned with my schooner and cant wait to tear them up with a galleon. The recent weight changes to the ships are a great start and basically killed off our only comment (at the moment) about ships. (Although being able to runup a flag(s) on a ship would be awesome) On Ships: Can we add the ability to use the elevator on ships, or give us a way to get tames below deck (Perhaps a Grilled Middle Grate? On tames: I would like to thank the team for taking in the mass feedback on the elephant weight reduction change and believe that the solution you provided (the weight increase) solves the problem in a perfectly sensible way. With that said, we have rhinos for stone, elephants for wood, bears for fiber, but seem to be missing something for thatch. While a bull and giraffe can harvest thatch, mining trees with a pick results in more thatch per tree than with a tame. This seems counterintuitive and I would like to ask if the team could look at boosting the giraffe’s thatch gathering to be inline with the elephants wood gathering. On a dps side we are having a lot of fun with using our lions, tigers, and bears (oh my!) and feel that the dps done by tames are in a good spot currently. Weapons Balance: With that said about tames however, they are the only good option against mobs and army of the dead. The recent pistol nerf (driven by PvP) has made guns useless against mobs. This coupled with an unfun loading speed makes guns not enjoyable to use at all. Spamming 7 pistol shots to kill something and then having to wait ~3 minutes (real life time) to reload it all is not engaging/fun gameplay. Ideally, I believe that guns need a buff to damage and a decrease in reload speed. Currently a stone arrow spam has the same DPS as a pistol (with skills) Guns really should do more than a bow does, if you are able to up the damage ~25 per shot (using vs a standard croc for these numbers) for a pistol and ~33 damage for the carbine, along with about a 5 second decrease to damage, it will not only make guns more worthwhile, but also worth the resources required to make them. With these changes and leaving stone arrows alone, I think it will balance the cost/drawbacks of guns. PvE Armor Balance: Quick note here, currently I don’t use armor. Its just not worth it, between the little protection it gives and the huge pain it is with hyperthermia and speed reduction, it is easier to just run away from something (since fighting is not worth it anyways). I really would like to see some additional damage mitigation here. Alphas: With the recent nerf to fire damage, Alphas are a huge (and unrewarding) pain in the ass to kill. Carbines doing 33 damage per hit is just crazy. I think a slight nerf here to Alpha HP combined with a decrease to their damage reduction (initially I think a 25% to HP and changing the damage reduction from 75% to 50% would be a fair starting point if combined with above gun changes) would help reduce the frustrations that many players I speak to/play with. Spawns: Clearing out an area, beginning to farm something, only to have 2 crocs spawn on top of you (literally) is just frustrating, not fun. Nothing should be able to spawn right on top (or very near) you as it breaks the immersion (and defeats the purpose of clearing things out). With that said I have noticed a somewhat decrease in overall hostile spawns (which were crazy before (and still are on desert isles)) and I think this is heading in the right direction. By giving us tools that actual do decent damage I think we will see a further decrease in complaints in this area. Ships of the Damned/Whales: Overall, I think up until the last spawn changes you made (did you buff spawns b/c it sure feels like it) SOTD were in a good spot population-wise. Now they seem to be everywhere again. I have been consistently clearing 4-6 a day in my home sector but it never seems to make the seas any safer for travelers. Now they are not too difficult at the moment (especially to avoid) and I am very much looking forward to seeing/fighting some brig SOTD, but please please please be very cautious on the Galleon equivalent spawns. There should never be more than 1 galleon level in a sector at a given time. (Ultimately I would propose having a cap of 10 ships/sector with an ½ hour to hour respawn per ship) Ships also NEED to be impacted by the wind. If there is very little wind in a sector everyone should go slow, including the motor boats SOTD. Whales are the same situation. There should be only 1 or two maximum in a single sector at one time and they should not be able to 1 shot ships (well ok maybe a sloop). Right now if you agro a whale, you have to a) pray to get to a sector transfer or b) kiss your ship goodbye. Aging: I want to say Im sorry for all the crap the forums have been giving you guys on age and the FoY. I think its actually a neat concept and once breeding gets in will be a unique and neat idea. While rollout of the FoY was rough, I think the buff esp. since it stacks gives the players a unique way of buffing a character vs the easy way of possessing a new toon. For the time being (other than fixing the 3 hour rotations) I would leave FoY as is, until npc breeding is implemented. This is due to the insanity of powerstone isles and with the lack of usable weapons, other than glitching the crap out of the PS bosses for the keys there no decent way to handle those islands other than naked runs anyways. Claims: With regards to allowing others to build on claims (other than the demo bug) I think the community would really benefit with a detailed explanation of your vision for this, how it should work, and where you want this feature to go. I think claims are neat (and a good anti-troll tool, when not abused (Please for the love of Atlas do not give in to the 1 claim limit/person (I think 2 sea and 5 land are a good # if you’re already going that way)) and I like the idea of the tax system. We would like to allow folks to live on our land but people don’t want to as of now because people can just jack their stuff and screw them over. Here, I think this could be resolved if the area instead of being unowned, becomes partially owned by the tenants as well. By this I mean, the flag switches to half their flag/half ours, taxes still go to us however the claim is only reverted back to our ownership if the tenant is not logged on for 7 days. (Could just have players just die if they don’t log in/eat for 7 days to get around the sleeping in claim issue)) While this does mean that companies will be more selective in who they allow, it gives a recourse/troll prevention to players who want to leave lawless areas. Misc. Stuff: So I like were we are getting to with skill points. The unfun thing is the lack of ability to respec other than levels (and once those are gone your screwed). As a result several company members (myself included) are holding back levels in order to save respecs. (Ie I have enough XP to be level 53, but I am only level 46 since I do not want to loss my respecs). Here I would like to suggest that you look at a respect potion (medical tree? Or perhaps a Merchant Ship/Freeport?) which would cost gold plus mats to make. (I would avoid mythos as a mat here due to how grindy/difficult that stuff is already to get, and how much additional frustration it would cause players (really that PS island stuff is waaaay too powerful, esp. given the wet noodles we have right now to fight with)) On walls/buildings I think if we could get someway to “weld” walls together it could help a lot with server rendering and lag. (Ie I weld 4 walls together into a single wall (2x2 become 1 item to load not 4) Obviously there would need to be some limit here, but I could see walls and ceilings (2x2 and 3x3) beginning a good start to reducing the overall total number of things to render/load. I would also love to be able to snap ceiling tiles to a shipyard on the side so that I can make the “deck” a little bigger (was thinking of 2 snaps out from the shipyard) Lastly, I, my company, and at least my sector would really really appreciate it if you could change the red X for location to another color (ie black). It can be stupidly difficult to see where I am on the map when the island is entirely red from claims. I look forward to the new content that is coming soon and cant wait to see what else you have in store. May the winds be ever in your favor, Gin
