    PvPvE

2,800 ingame of which 1,400 was the generic number when the previous networks were up. 2800 makes sence if you total up 700 islands with 3-4 people on each one. Guess we'll see on Monday if having a griefer Pve Claim system works any better or pulls anymore people back.
  2. Yeh the lack of a fog of war/shroud completely ruins the immersion of the game, being able to see who is where is akin to cheating.
  3. No 90% is fair. 50% should be minimum.
  4. If you run out and hit them, they will start moving again. They'll turn on spot and eventually turn away from island, circling back to shoot at you. If you setup mortors etc to shoot them, you have to wait 30mins before you can even use the mortors or 20mins to use the cannons, cannons can't even swivel on the spot.

    Claims

To top it off, Companies can swap claims now. So Company A goes to Company B's island and starts claiming it. Company B goes to Company A's. When claim complete Company A can attack Company B's settlement players immune from pvp damage. And Company B can do the same to company A's. Maximum pvp for Owners. Everyone else is just cannon fodder for their fun and amusement.
  6. Yeh I agree, I think there should be several island claims per island. That'd turn each island into 2, 3, 5 claim islands for example. Which increases default playerbase. The pvp side isn't affected, except by the war tokens, which need to be removed. War tokens break the game. The allow people to set specific windows for their own oppurtunity. Usually at the least likely timezone for their victims. Offline protection could be effected from 10minutes after last member logs out. Until first member logs in. etc. Like on ark servers. As for pvp allowing multiple people, yes of course they will, loose alliances is what makes the world go around. And helps pay the upkeep etc.
  7. The way it currently stands. Player A comes along, works his/her arse off for several hours. Claims island. Players B-F turn up, grief them placing stuff all over the island. Player A logs in, as soon as they enter render distance of their ships, they sink, they can't exit their buildings or can't move as freely due to griefing. So why should any player or company of, claim an island? What's the point? Waste of time.. might as well just get rid of the claim flags completely. Let everyone just grief everyone else. Oh wait.. maybe that's what you want. The right to grief in freedom. Yes it's open to exploitation, but at least it's the people who do the least work being exploited not the ones who do the most. I wouldn't allow whitelist to remove the decay rate, in fact the decay rate needs to be severely dropped so stuff breaks down alot faster. And more generically.
  8. It's to place in front of someone elses big gateway so you can grief them.
  9. Yep people will put their flags inside buildings, on top of mountains etc.. But maybe it should be this way. That said, I think islands should be split into specific areas, each with it's own flag, placed in a unique location. Allowing several settlements to co exist on a given island.
  10. There's some pretty serious flaws with the colony system. As it stands, if a network can support say 700 islands.. that actually pretty much means it supports 700 players as well. 1 per island claim. Sure more than one can and often will share an island. But if the island falls and is reclaimed by another. The new owners can kill everyone on their new island and are immune to attack. Because they've taken over an island in war, that is now in peacetime. One side is pvp enabled (the owners) everyone else is pvp disabled. Good job devs.. There should be an amount of flags allowed by different owners per island, so islands can be shared.. not 1 island per flag, but 4-5 flags per island. With settlement enforcement per flag as well. The entire system needs to be rethunk. As it stands it fails and will continue to fail. Instead of 700 islands with 700 solo owners.. you can have several thousand owners using those same 700 islands.
  11. Not all islands have Gems.. or even Berries.
  12. The idea that settlement owners can go around when they log in, demo'ing someones griefing attempt is just unworkable. Make it so that as soon as someone claims an island, it is entirely theirs. Noone can build until the owner added them to the settlement. If anyone griefs from that point forward, the owner just removes their name from the settlement and they can't build anymore. People who are "in" the settlement who have structures should then automatically be safe. There is a risk of owners exploiting this route, but it's alot less likely than the previous idea where the land becomes covered in foundations, pillers, shipyards etc in hours and then the owners, have to wait days for it all to disappear. Then they can manually remove their structures and manual removal should be only for non listed companies and without a time limit. So they can completely remove all griefing attempts. In pvp you can eventually destroy stuff, but it takes forever.. otherwise it's wait 4-24 days or whatever for it to autodemo, depending on what it is or where it's built, ie on a foundation or on the land. There's so much griefing going on right now that it seems pointless having such limited systems in place, that take too long to use, it is essentially rewarding trolls and griefers and slapping your actual playerbase in the face. Hope you learn this before you release the pve server.
  13. The settlement looks like it's a circle on the map, so maybe/probably it's a circle in game, not sure tbh. As for gold etc if you're in a company that's quite easy to generate once you do some maps, grab treasure or sink some ships. Not so easy if solo, which kinda sorts out the wheat and the chaff I guess. The interesting thing on the server, was how many islands lost their settlements roughly 24 hours after the ptr went up. My zone obviously doesn't have gems as there's no settlements in it, but all the zones around me are full. Doors are locked. All the chests, lockers, machines, benchs etc are not, but you can pin code most of them. Not that pin codes are very useful. I guess locks will come later. I'm going to wait for the pve server I think, it's enough to be dealing with tigers etc without having random dudes taking pot shots at me as well. Or wrecking my hard work.
  14. Turns out.. what's in the patch notes, the facts.. are wrong. Completely and utterly wrong. Turns out there is no 12 hour window. If people build under/around your ship/shipyard, as soon as you run into render distance, it get's sunk. Griefing is rampant. Exploiting is rampant. Most items that were previously lockable, can't be now. And then there's all the SoTD landing on the shoreline. But at least it's 6x harvesting etc.. so dying or loosing everything, doesn't really matter.
  15. Probably in one of those hidden but posted 17 hours ago threads.
  16. Why don't you just stop posting? Ig... wasting my time with you. I can't find it either now. Getting so sick of looking through every thread.. why can't they just update to one thread..
  17. Yeh gathered that, love the ignorant dev post tho.. "i'm not sure where that started haha" Maybe from the giant fucking map with pve and pvp zones highlighted on it? Where do they say it'll be pve? I expect it'll just be another pvp server. With noone on it.
  18. So finally logged in last night, but it was late, so basically ran around in the Dark.. because I always seem to spawn on an unknown island, in the dark. After hiding in a bush for several hours, peering at dimly moving shapes, realising they were pigs.. and parrots. I thought, yeh it's safe here. Didn't see a soul nor anything nasty. Logged out on a small rock out in the sea, hidden by mangos like trees. Logged in today, after a few CTD's finally got ingame to a stable environment and played for around 7 hours or so. First off, I learned that there are no Berries or Orange Vits of any kind on the entire island. That I could find. There's a few tigers.. There's no Gems. And now I have a new neighbour.. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1705298034 So.. not being one for usually doing the pvp thing, I figured... must be some gold on that there ship. I made a Mortor.. of course, no gems, can't make blasting powder, can't make mortor shot.. Then I made a cannon, stuck it on roof next to mortor.. looks cool. But apparently it can't swivel on the spot. Who the hell makes these things.. like this. Oh and of course, there's a timeout period before you can even fire the damn things. I shoot the ship.. it moves to a different position, where it continues to pummel me. I can't turn the cannon, can't pick it up, and if I place a new one.. it'll take 20mins before I can fire. I did see another player.. scoped him out took his name, ran like a coward to my stone hut, before speaking to him in chat.. he was polite enough.. I see his sloop racing away from shore a few moments later. Seems we're all cowards here. This is why I play Pve..

    My Bugs

I logged in last night fine, created avatar np. Game played ok for about 30mins, but I needed to sleep so logged out. Today I log in, move 1 metre and ctd. Log in again, Black Screen. Most likely a timeout issue for my ingame character. Wait 10 mins. Login CTD.. Reset all settings in options. Re created my keypad movement keys. Wait 10mins. Logged in. Moved forward but the hardcoded Atlas Map key as forward movement keypad key, Num8. CTD. You need to remove ALL of the hardcored keys and create a remap menu for every single command in the game. This isn't something you do next year.. but after the system is stable. Wait 10 mins...Login..changed keypad keys to NumLock Off. Ok on this reload, it worked fine for several hours until I logged out. No berries on island. No Gems. Chests etc appear to be unlocked.
  20. Aye you'd expect, the problem for me is getting a key to accept the Jump command mostly, I can get most of what I need on the keypad with numlock on. But have to use spacebar to jump.
  21. So you got 200 coins then? From wreckage?
  22. Apparently you need 200 gold coins to place the claim flag.
  23. They setup the PTR as PVP only, because maybe due to all the "Only PVPer's play" posts.. yet only 1000 people are playing on it now. Pity they didn't set it up as a PVE server.. then we might see the true numbers of returnees. The Majority of people seem to be around C7 area, groups of around 30 per zone. Maybe the NA Pve server will be setup as a pve server or it'll just be another pvp one.. with noone on it.
  24. The PTR is a beta version. Download the Beta via game properties under steam. It's a 8.4 gb file with some small mb patches afterwards. Takes about an hour to install. You then select the PTR from the list after starting Game. Game is PVP only. No Freeports.
  25. Yep, Ark is the same. Ignorant Devs.. It's due in part to them forcing a console game on the pc market, rather than vica versa. Those keys are all hardcoded with useless group and camera commands that noone ever uses.
