  1. This, and NPC tamed animals.. wolves, lions, tigers, snakes.. all work. Then there is the sleeping in your base NEAR your flag. I like to put my flag in the center of my base and build around it... then place a wall around that... I have then placed small bed huts near each of my nearby flags.. incase I need to spawn on one of them.
  2. I would love to see other ship hull designs. Like a Catamaran, a longship, a sailboat (dingy with a sail).
  3. Make a dye... whatever color you want. Then drag the dye over the clothing item you want to dye. Then choose the section you want to change the color on hit paint and done.
  4. Fun fact.. you can carry several pistols at once... And honestly it is rare a wolf kills me and I am only level 30. I can easily deal with one sometimes two with just my bow and arrows and a sword. It is WAY easier if I use a flintlock with the above combination. Running around with a spear or your fists, yeah you are going to get wreckt by a wolf.
  5. Yeah it was pretty rough last night on the EU PVP server for me. Lot of lag that wasn't normally there. My company mates all had it to so I knew it wasn't just me.
  6. Not quite that simple.... but I get what you are trying to say. If you did do a running attack with a sword odds are you would get obliterated by a trained swordsman who just stands there and simply parries your attack and counters as you go flailing by.
  7. Actually Pirates were not the bane of the oceans. They were a pain in the ass for most merchants. Privateers and frigate captains were the bane of the oceans. As many times they sailed bigger better armed ships and had far better trained crews. Most pirates sailed around in what was called "unrates" nothing more than a sloop (single mast ship) or brigs, which were not powerful in the slightest... The heaviest armed brig had 18-20 guns, that is 9- 10 guns a side and a crew of 100-150. While your typical frigate like the HMS Essex, had over 40 guns and a crew of over 300. The BEST pirates in history lived at most a year or two before they were captured and put to death. The myth of pirates being these powerful scary things is just that a myth.
  8. From the description on your level, you can go higher if you explore more regions and get more discoveries.. but I have not confirmed this.
  9. Well by definition a sloop is a single masted ship. So 1 medium speed sail will be faster.. and yes it has been tested.
  10. Then why not join a larger company or even a small company and just put it out there you are a builder... nothing more nothing less. Dont expect me to fight (well) or be much help in a fight. But I will build whatever you need. I know of a few people I have played with in the past who I loved having in my guild and that is all they did, I used to call them my Doozers.
  11. Not true. Most of the time it is the exact opposite. 90% of the time its some kid (less than 25 years old) who thinks he's being cool and from the whitest of the white family. If he got any whiter he would be milk.
  12. Hahaha!!! Time consuming... Atlas - is a 5 on the time sync scale Life is Feudal - is a 7.... Wurm Online - 10!!!! It is a second job to do anything in that game.
  13. I live in the northern Tundra Desert. And I find the lack of sap kind of a pain... but we have adapted... and with my fortitude being in the 30s I dont have a problem with the temperature. As for vitamins.. hahahahaha... that's easy.. fishing for D, Rosemary and wild greens for C, and there is enough goats, pigs, sheep, cows, and lions and snakes to have plenty of B, and A well you have arctic berries and a dozen other small berries all over the place. And with cooking I dont even need wild greens.. I can just turn berries into tea, which turns it into vitamin C. As for ghost ships... funny my company mates made it all the way down to the tropic regions from where we are without having one issue with them. They just out ran them or avoided them. Other than that we have everything else we need... what we want is a completely different story. I know people who live in the desert region who dont have metal, or water.
  14. Funny, I always considered SOLO players in games like this to be nothing more than fodder. They should play within their means instead of trying to build massive structures or ships and trying to be a one man Henry Morgan. When in fact they are nothing more than a landsman on a ship to me. (That is a unskilled sailor or lowest of low on the ship rank)
  15. Well if you go by yourself expect to have short trips. But if you have a crew... you can go further if you trust them and time things right. Not saying it is going to be easy... or simple. If you wanted easy or simple you wouldn't have stuck around this long. I know currently with my work schedule I wont have time to go sailing around during the week. So I dont even bother, instead I spend my time working on base defenses, providing food for those who do go sailing around, and maintaining the supply base. I didn't want to do this role but sometimes you just fall into it.
  16. The problem is if you have no decay in a starter zone, it will quickly become impossible for any new players to start there because no one will be able to do anything because of all of the old abandoned junk there.
  17. I think with a pistol you do around 70-100. I know with my bow and arrow I have hit the head of a giant snake for 60-70.
  18. Solo players are supported you just have to play within your means. Don't go trying building a Galleon because you have 20 hours a day to do it, and expect to sail it. Just build a Sloop and use that. Learn to hire NPC crew... which means learn to get gold coins... you may be rafting it for a while. I watched people do this in Life Is Feudal and they got wiped and rage quit, I watched it in Wurm Online.. and they rage quit... yet if people learn to build within their means then they won't have a problem.
  19. You can already farm stupid amounts of materials in no time with the right tools. I spent 30min last night and farmed over 1k fiber.
  20. It is possible to defend your stuff while you are offline, if some requirements are met first. 1- NOT BE ON A STARTER ISLAND!!!! This means not on a Lawless or Freeport. 2- MUST have a claim flag on your stuff. Build a wall around your stuff, and a second wall around that. Then build a wall around your flag to prevent them from contesting easily. 3- MAKE friends, the more people in your company the better. Dont promote anyone you dont trust, or hasn't proven themselves. And make friends with other companies nearby protect each other, especially if you are in different timezones.
  21. How old was your character in game? I know I am 35 in game now.. I am wondering if you just died of old age.
  22. Oh it rains... Where I am it rains every other day, to every third day at worst. It also has a daytime high of 60F, and a night time low of -10F. I love it.
  23. Sorry but you built a Sloop, a 3 man ship, for yourself.. when you should stick to a Raft. Unless you are hiring NPC crew... which again requires gold coins which means you probably arent doing it alone. How hard is it for people to understand this is a "team" game... not a "LONER" game. If you want to play alone on a ship, there is other games for that. As for defending your stuff... learn how to build walls, around your building.. and NOT be on the lawless or free trade islands. Getting out and finding a place to set up is challenging but possible. And it is getting easier everyday as all of the Day 1 locusts are fading away. My company has already gone out and secured our little piece of our island. And we are getting set up nicely. If only people would learn that if you focused on something other than ME, you would find that this game is a LOT easier. But I come from other games where teamwork was a MUST, Life Is Feudal, Mortal Online, EVE, Ultima... just to name a few. EVE has a wonderful rule. 1- Dont fly what you cant afford to lose. 2- Harden the f*** up.
