  1. Yet AGAIN. Honestly, this is the only mmo of any type I play where I get a sinking feeling (no pun intended) when they announce a forthcoming patch.
  2. A link to the "Conquer The Seas" mod I referred to above, if anyone is interested in looking at it and seeing what can be done by a modder. Having looked at it once more I may well quit Atlas and just go back to Ark, which - unrelated to the topic but nonetheless interesting - currently has twice the number of players playing tonight than Atlas does. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=880947262 Considering the mod is free and functional there's no real reason to be playing Atlas at this time and in its current condition.
  3. I have Atlas, and I have Ark, and mods for Ark to build ships, such as (last time I played Ark) "Conquer The Seas". On Ark I can actually - gasp - KEEP my structures and not have them mysteriously stolen within an hour while I am still online. Taming works well, Cooking is a worth doing, hell, even FARMING is a worthwhile investment of skill points and time. No stupid and ultimately pointless mini-games to waste my time on either. To be brutally honest, Atlas wouldn't be worth a download if it was a mod for Ark. Too badly coded and unreliable for consideration.
  4. A bug as fundamentally terrible as this means the Claim system is meaningless. As such, what incentive is there to play when the only way to guarantee you can build and KEEP what you build is to cling to a tiny spot on Lawless? The Lawless islands are just a glorified slum - abandoned ships and rafts everywhere that mysteriously take less damage per day than my own ship which needs repairing daily, pillars and foundations strewn everywhere (often by just one person) tying up huge chunks of land to prevent anyone building anything, resources walled off, coastal areas swamped by Shipyards and yet more pillars... the list goes on. How are people supposed to test a game for the Devs when there is no incentive and indeed no opportunity to build anything worthwhile in order to actually test the game? At this time, the game is a pointless chore to play. The only way I can see to play the way I wish to - exploring, Gathering and trading - is to build a solo Schooner as a mobile base, but trying to claw the resources together on the little patch of land I have, when everyone else is also gathering the same stuff as I am, is making it unfeasible. If I did pull off a miracle and get the resources, chances are some bright spark would find a new exploit to sink the ship as soon as I built it, even on PvE.
  5. The icons are absolutely shit. Text is unreadable.
  6. I play on an Unofficial PvPvE server, 6x4 zones, x3 rates and it makes Official servers look as abysmal as they truly are.
  7. Yes, you'd never see anything that epic on PvP. People huddle inside their stone gates surrounded by cannon when they aren't offline raiding someone and fleeing back to their bunker. Something like that would be blown to bits as fast as it was built, more's the pity.
  8. Came across a base on Lawless that was able to be demolished, so I took out a wall panel and got loads of wood, thatch and fibre plus other good stuff. Best of all was when i saw the tames with a claim timer on them. An Elephant, two Bears, 2 Horses, one Lion... and a Cow. Built walls around them and roofed over the top of it all so I can claim them when the timer runs out. Demolished the Shipyard and put my own down, and it's got a really deep sea channel so I can start a Schooner. Once I build my mobile base, I'll demolish everything and head off back to the Tundra, exploring as I go, and meet up again with ingame friends in the north. A very satisfying day.
  9. So they changed the number, so what? The estimated release date for that specific content patch is listed as "ETA: Late February" which means, oddly enough, it will hopefully arrive LATE FEBRUARY.
  10. It's not something I have a problem with, and the Devs never listen to suggestions anyway, Logand333, as witness the weight exploit on ships for example. A myriad of solutions suggested and not one ever acted on.
  11. Time differences in the USA can be significant, and the EU covers a lot of time zones too... Silly solution, really.
  12. There's a sticky at the top of the Steam discussion page that has current and future patch notes.
  13. Yell to drain Stamina as well as punch air. Death is pretty fast.
  14. What, there's not one single person who can simply log in for 10 seconds once per week? Nobody has THAT shit a life.
  15. Get someone to log in for you every week. Problem sorted.
  16. Well said, OP. I have no desire to group with other players unless I get to know them first. I like chatting, I like helping a passerby if they need it, but that's all I want from strangers. I'm just getting to know the people on the PvPvE server I play on the most, and I can forsee some joint ventures in the future, but I still won't join a company. There's also the consideration that while there will be amazing players out there I have no desire to wade through 99 others to find the worthwhile one.
  17. Well, possibly it was but it definitely isn't working. Jat said they were looking into it. I like the bee hive idea, personally.
  18. I can trap them and Bola them, but get shredded every time I try to feed. I was managing ok with a lion once but then when I get the "feed" message the E key didn't work any more. No idea why. I have no luck with bulls at all. If I get close to even the shoulder point coming in from the bull's midriff I get gored badly. Sometimes I can't even feed them once! Definitely a PITA for sure.
  19. Hahahaha, the next exploit will be arriving in a few minutes... they always do. Your faith in the devs is touching, but I'm not building anything bigger than a sloop for at least a couple of weeks.
  20. It doesn't mean I have to associate with a single one of them. All it means is that there are/will be a lot of players online. It doesn't say MMOWGIM - Massively Multiplayer Online Where Grouping Is Mandatory - so I'll play the way I want to play, not the way you think everyone should play. Bore off mate.
  21. Cooking is the crappiest skill tree in the game. Far, far easier to tame a couple of chickens and a cow, then all you need after that is meat and 'orange' berries to keep your food just right. If you can be bothered, of course. Far easier and more convenient to suicide, sometimes, even with all the vitamin skills and decent fortitude.
  22. It's a sheer waste of time, which is probably why I have never seen anyone bother getting fish with a fishing pole in over 200 hours of gameplay. Swimming with a spear is FAR more efficient.
  23. I like the fishing boats and nets idea. It sounds fun. I never bother fishing now because I tamed a cow and get as much vitamin D as I need with the milk, but fishing with boats and nets would be great. Maybe even a small chance to drag some loot up!
  24. I've never been bothered by SotD in my Sloop because it's so fast. I've never yet been attacked by one because they are so slow by comparison. The Sloop will also make your trip a lot faster and carry more.
