  1. Press I and go to the company tab at the top.
  2. No, DON'T put the birthing update in. As I said in another thread, I'll be damned if I'm going to go screw some fugly NPC and have a freakish baby all for the devs amusement just so my character doesn't perma-die every 4 weeks. I don't even want to imagine what kind of total reject thinks up a game design like this.
  3. If you aren't in a company already, make yourself a company and your beds should appear.
  4. The whole aging is idiotic. What point does it serve in the game? If there was some huge game mechanic tied to this thing that opened up lots of new avenues of gameplay, it *might* be different. Might. But it does nothing wonderful at all. Instead of a promise, it's a threat - do this or you lose everything. Idiotic. Sure, right now everybody is arguing about whether smaller groups and solos have the right to reset their age and get the buff at the fountain of youth. I think something as core as that shouldn't be endgame content for mega groups. But that's not the real problem. The real problem is at some point they'll flip the switch so your character dies, and then if you're not a mega corp. your only choice is to screw some creepy NPC in a game and have a baby? (And call it "breeding" like you're some level 36 sheep) Is there not even one woman on this dev team? What kind of squicky repellent mind came up with this brilliant idea? This has got to be the creepiest game mechanic ever. And it's not like it's optional once the switch gets flipped. We used to be held hostage by griefers sinking our boats. Now it's the damn devs - screw the NPC or die and lose all your levels and all your stuff. FFS
  5. Especially on pve. Land domination makes no sense there.
  6. For those of us that couldn't (didn't) watch the livestream, pls write it up in a captain's log. Thanks.
  7. Sounds like two issues. For not being able to interact with anything, try dying and see if that fixes it. It did for me. Not being able to log back in except to a new Atlas is probably the bug where if you don't have a company name you can't see any of your boats or beds. So you probably did die, and can't respawn on a bed. This is usually fixed by making a company name for yourself. So you could try that and then log out and see if you can get back to a bed.
  8. Still, it doesn't address the essential problem between the "haves" and the "have nots", that exists today. It just pounds the "have nots" harder. Can you see hordes of people giving up their real claims and moving to lawless to partake in this system? I don't see it with people who elected to play pve in the first place. And if they don't, that should tell you how attractive that system is to players. Some people don't want to play pvp, that's why they're on pve. You're telling new players who only want pve that not only is there no land for them to claim but you've fixed that by making them pvp for substandard spots. It's not a great selling point. If you add pvp to a pve server, you've clearly got to make it a choice that players can make and not something they're forced into because there's no land. I agree with you that the current claims system is a mess, and a horrible design for pve. There have been a number of other solutions discussed for the problem with claims on pve and most of them include limiting the number of claims per person in one way or another. Have a look at this thread and see the proposal I posted there. To my mind it's a much happier way of solving the problem and enriches the game for everyone.
  9. I'm not really crazy about this part. The funny thing is, I helped design a game that was similar to this suggestion, and I liked it very well....there. Not here, though. Most of the people on lawless are there because they want to claim land but can't find any. They're already pretty unhappy about that. This solution keeps the "real" claimowners perfectly safe, and now the lawless claim owners have to fight to keep theirs in addition to the other penalties? I don't think that'll be very popular. In addition, this game has a nasty element that the one I worked on didn't. Even on the pve server, there are griefers, hackers, people who sunk every boat on an island, people who block everyone else's boat. I think most of the pve players went to pve expecting to minimize that, and with it being pve, they've got logical complaints to send to support. With this solution, not so much. The reason for your suggestion - the entire base building portion of the game revolves around taking land, isn't really true for pve. Technically, you're supposed to be taking empty land or land from people who have abandoned it. It might be better stated that - the base building portion of the game requires land. It doesn't require that you take it from someone, just that you have it. The entire pretext for adding pvp is just not true. I wouldn't mind having the two combined in some way later on when the game is more mature and customer service has proven they can handle the issues that would come up. Given that competition in pve games is better done through economics and status, there could be some interesting competition around trade routes and with cities and shops. But I'm not a big fan of having people have to fight over lawless claims, that way, and definitely wouldn't want to see any kind of pvp added until things are much more stable.
  10. You don't lose all your stuff if you make a company? And how are you not in one? I thought all chars were created with a company of one.
  11. I just sent in a ticket on this because I didn't want to write it up in public. Could be a false alarm..but ...weirdness. No need to respond to me personally..just wanted to bring it to your attention.
  12. Having to punch the air for a few minutes sure beats having your boats sunk by griefers one after the other after the other. Jat seemed to be saying there was a more nuanced fix coming for this, but in the meantime, just stay off other people's boats or get an alliance with them to go on them.
  13. I can haz cheezberger or i am sinking a ships. Signed, Harry Monster, a big cat
  14. Yeah, I knew that. I was just having fun with your comment about "wives". It's funny, a lot of the women gamers I know get worse spouse aggro than the guys. Some of the rest of that report by Yee does show differences in competitive vs. cooperative play based on different factors. It's interesting.
  15. Didn't work for me when I tried that. Are you sure it works on rafts?
  16. SO happy to see the weight griefing fix today. This is really going to improve things. Thanks!
  17. I don't understand this whole "kids" thing you keep using, Bologna. Well I do,really, it's to belittle the pve players and try to make them seem small. But MindofMadness mostly has it right, PvE tends to be the grownups who don't have time to be as hardcore as the younger people do. You're seriously hitting one of my soapbox issues here with this. Why do so many people assuming everyone playing a game is JUST LIKE THEM? This is the reason Freeports on day 1 were filled with guys all named p33nis McNaziface - because they think they are in some sort of closed group of teenaged guys who mostly don't care about that. You can read all their incredulous forums posts where they can't believe people wouldn't want to see this crap, and they can't believe everyone is not just like them. Have a look at Nick Yee's Quantic Foundry data - somewhere between 25-40% of the people playing this game are likely to be women. The ages are about equally spread out from 18 to over 35, and that over 35 group has people in it well over 60 years old. There are all kinds of people playing MMO games, survival games and RPGs . They are not all like you (or me). So, MindofMadness mostly has it right, but I'm gonna fix it up just a bit: The continued use of "kids" for pve players couldn't be farther from the truth. It's making your arguments even weaker and making you look a bit silly. Go advocate for the things you want changed for the kind of gamer that you are, and leave other people to ask for what they want in the game. Not everyone in the game is the same as you, and that's a good thing.
  18. Well, you paid 25 bucks just like the OP did to play this game. You have different goals. We get it. But that does not entitle you to go around being rude to everyone else and telling them to shut up so only your opinion gets heard. You want to voice an opinion, go ahead and make a thread about it. The OP gets to do the same. The devs will sort out what they want to do and it'll all come out in the wash. No need to go around shutting down other people's opinions , calling them names and denigrating their playstyles.
  19. I think if you have specific companies griefng you, you should say that instead of talking about "the chinese". In the lawless zone I'm in, we have a number of Chinese guilds that don't bother anyone at all. We also have a couple Japanese guilds, some Spanish-speaking guilds and some who sound Brit. None of these people are bothering anybody, and you can sometimes get a good response in chat if they have members on who speak English. (And yes, Brits, we are two people divided by a common language) There are some griefers in our zone, and they are clearly American boyz, borrowing lingo from the American south, as well as 1920s New York. I doubt any of our Chinese guys read the forums, but if they do, I figured it would be good to stick up for them.
  20. I like the pirate-y nature of the font, and I think it looks good, but damn, it's hard to read so small. It's a plot by Alpha giant snakes. Every time I'm squinting at the screen trying to figure out what to take out of storage, one of them sneaks up and bites me in the arse. Fix the font!
  21. What are your plans for villages/cities/towns? Will there be game mechanics to work with them? (Skill trees for the city itself? Administration mechanics? Additional skill lines to be used with them?) Will they include player run shops?
  22. I'm gonna name my next raft Ark.
  23. You don't need a big company to have a team. You don't even need a company at all, really.
